"Let us gather our allies."
Hugh smirks.
"The Rebellion shall be taken down."
And the Revolution shall prevail.
Now, Curtis was still confused on how exactly he became the figure for the Revolution, but he assumes that Hugh had something to do with it. After all, his childhood friend did become the new leader of Team Plasma {how he did, Curtis would never know} and they were currently in an alliance, but Curtis had wondered one thing:
Is this really for the good of the region?
However, upon seeing Hugh stand proudly in front of the crowd, waving his sword, helping little kids and the elderly at the same time, Curtis can't imagine a time where Team Plasma had helped as much as they did.
Introducing Curtis as "Christoph", along with a complete transformation in his looks, Hugh stated proudly to the rest of the region that he was the co-leader of the Revolution.
Is this really right, to go against those two like this?
Curtis wondered if Hugh was right. After all, Hugh had deemed the Hero of Ideals and the Hero of Truth traitors which must be taken down, because the Rebellion was secretly evil and Neo-Plasma was clearly evil, but Curtis had seen pictures of those two when they were little, dull eyes and no smiles, and he wondered if they were like him.
(Alone.)
Curtis had hated being alone. That's why he had stuck with Hugh, even when he felt that there was something wrong with the logic Hugh presented.
{The Hero of Ideals and the Hero of Truth couldn't possibly be bad people; they just couldn't be- they were just puppets, puppets, dolls in a failing world, to be the victims of framing. They would blame everything on the two Heroes. This couldn't possibly be right. And he knew it.}
And Curtis smiles sweetly at everyone in the audience, fooling them all, thinking that this world shouldn't deserve to be saved by the two heroes.
"For the sake of this revolution, for the sake of this region, and for the sake of our futures, let us fight! We shall fight and usurp power from the two heroes! We shall capture them in our hands! This is the Revolution! The two 'heroes' must be destroyed! In order to maintain peace, we must take power from those two wretched, supposed, heroes!"
The Revolution comprised of grunts of Olde-Plasma and people who left the Rebellion; that is, most of the people who were in the Rebellion.
Curtis wondered how Hugh got so many supporters from the Rebellion. Many of those people seemed a little...uneasy, being around everyone else, but Hugh just shrugged it off, saying that they were just feeling weird with the sudden alliance of their past enemy. They shifted uneasily, especially when Hugh started talking badly about their former leader
Something about that doesn't make sense.
So Curtis picks out one of the new supporters, a little kid of only ten, and asks him, gently, why everyone is so afraid.
What he hears startles him.
"O-Our past leader is missing. W-we think she's been taken by Neo-Plasma. We've been in a p-panic this whole time...S-She's very nice, and told us that w-we could leave at anytime we thought we were unsafe, a-and she's not mean or anything, s-so w-we can't understand why L-Lord Hugh is saying these t-things."
The child trembles as he starts to cry, and he sobs for Curtis's forgiveness, sobs that he should know his place and not say bad things about the Revolution, because the Revolution was clearly stronger than the Rebellion, so he could be punished and he didn't want to-
And Curtis's eyes darkens, as he pats the little boy on the head and smiles at him, and Curtis wonders why exactly, why, the Hero of Ideals said that to her supporters.
He concludes that she is kind, but just used.
Used and abused. Weren't dolls supposed to be taken care of?
He secretly admires her, and her willingness to let her supporters flee to safety if they needed to; her selflessness. And he thinks that the only things he's heard about her are good qualities. Not many people have actually seen the Hero of Ideals though. Those qualities were like those found in Rosa. When he was little, he thought girls like Rosa would be perfect for him. Of course, he didn't love Rosa, because Nate and her were definitely something, but he remembers a time when he told his whole class that he will fall in love with a girl really similar to Rosa. Then Curtis blushes and shakes his head, repeating to himself in his head that he will not fall in love during this horrible time with a person he's never met. But he quietly repeats the Hero of Ideals' name, and Hugh smiles at him, thinking that Curtis is repeating her name out of a desire for revenge.
When Curtis goes on a campaign all around the region, quietly wondering why he was actually doing this, he wonders why he had to take his makeup off. After all, it would be more work to put on later, but Hugh had insisted that he take the makeup off in order to prevent being recognized. Curtis sighed. Of course Hugh wouldn't understand about there being no danger in the air. Not many people travel by Pokemon anymore because of the potential danger, and even so, Curtis still has many of the Pokemon he got from Rosa, and would be able to fight them. Not being able to see due to the sudden glare of the sunlight, he accidentally flies into a girl on a Volcarona.
Thud.
"Wahhhh! I'm sorry for bumping into you! The wind got ahold of my Volcarona and I couldn't see because of the sun and I couldn't steer it and I'm sorry-"
And Curtis can't help but chuckle at this girl who is flailing in front of him, apologizing profusely for the accident which clearly wasn't her fault, and he extends his hand out to introduce himself but then realizes awkwardly that they're in the air and would probably fall if they tried to shake hands. Awkwardly putting his hand back, he states that it's alright and that he's not hurt, and then realizes that he can't actually see the girl's face, because of the wind blowing her hair in front of her face.
She noticed it too, and pushed back her hair, and Curtis realizes with a startle that it is a girl who looks strikingly similar to Rosa, but is definitely not her, because (and Curtis is a bit ashamed for thinking this) this girl isn't nearly as pretty, and actually looks a bit boyish, but Curtis can feel his face flame up due to the fact that she is smiling genuinely at him, something that no one has done for a long time, and he feels a small fluttering in his chest, and he wants to just ask her her name.
"Nice to meet you."
And the girl smiles at him again, and he awkwardly gulps in fear that he did something wrong to make this girl laugh at him, and he hears a single name-
"Hilda."
And then his world is a mess, because god, the one person he didn't want to fall for- and he soon sees four other people on Pokemon far behind her. She turns to leave, and Curtis is feeling a bit dizzy, but he still manages to call out his name for some reason even though he knew she was the enemy-
"C-Curtis! The name's Curtis!"
And she smiles again and waves goodbye, and Curtis feels that everyone was wrong, and she couldn't possibly be the enemy-
And then he sees Rosa, Nate, and Yancy along with some other boy with them with a strange look in his eyes, and he realizes with a sudden jolt that even if he was attracted to Hilda, there was no chance of it happening for her, and he hides himself where the light is glaring as he sees the boy he doesn't recognize call out to her. She retorts with a sarcastic remark, and he realizes, then and there, that he was in love.
So he vows that he will not let Hugh kill the Hero of Ideals, although he notes that the other boy probably held a place in her heart, as shown by the amount of blushing that was on her face. He liked someone who already loved someone, even if she was showing it in an odd way by punching the boy in the face. For some reason, Curtis accepted that. In fact, he felt alive.
Blushing, and feeling strangely depressed yet happy, he leaves with her blushing face on his mind, and he is silently relieved at the sight of his old friends, even if they didn't see him.
Three o'clock was the time for cloud watching and for people meeting.
A/N
...So, to clarify things, the reason why no one knew what the Hero of Ideals and the Hero of Truth looked like is because the player is kind of a nobody throughout the whole game, and even then, the player isn't really that famous, so I would gather that the player is just kind of famous but not known? Do you understand that?
...
bet you guys didn't see that one coming huh? With Curtis? /shot
(I'M SO SORRY, THOSE OF YOU WHO SHIP CURTIS AND YANCY TOGETHER ;_; THE ONLY THING I THOUGHT OF WAS THIS)
(what am I doing here? =_= ) I'm so sorry, you guys probably thought Curtis was going to be with Yancy right? ;_; I don't know what I did here. It seemed right to have a bit of cliche-ness in this story. I know Curtis seems underdeveloped (and he is) and he couldn't possibly fall in love in like, three seconds, but just bear with me here ;_; I'm sorry.
Also, midterms are starting in two days for me so it might take longer for me to upload chapters. XD (I'M GOING TO DIE ;_; SAVE ME PLEASE)
