Hello everyone! I am so so sorry for the long wait. I got really busy with packing for school and I've been sick along with numerous other things but I'm back and that's a start. Thank you for your votes on which story I should do first. Stay With Me won so I will start working on that once one of the three stories are complete. Anyway, onto the story. Enjoy!

Chapter 11

Rachel hated waiting. It felt like time was going slower and slower. Once they had reached the hospital, they took Hailey away on a stretcher quickly and Rachel hasn't seen her since. She had always been so careful with watching what Hailey ate so that she would never have to go through this again. Rachel could remember when she had first found out about Hailey's allergy and she never wanted it to happen again.

Flashback

Hailey was four years old and loved eating sweets. Rachel tried not to give her as much as she wanted but sometimes, she couldn't help but fall helpless to her daughter's big hazel eyes. They were out at an ice cream parlor and Hailey got an ice cream sundae. While Hailey was eating, she suddenly started choking and her lips were swelling. Rachel immediately scooped her up in her arms and raced to the hospital. After waiting for what felt like forever, a doctor finally came over to her.

"How is she? Is she okay? What happened?" Rachel fired off.

The doctor placed a calming hand on her shoulder. "She's going to be just fine. It turns out that your daughter is allergic to nuts. Just monitor what she eats from now on and be very careful so that it doesn't become something as serious as anaphylaxis."

Rachel breathed a sigh of relief. "Thank you so much. Can I see her?"

"Of course," the doctor nodded as she walked away. Rachel felt herself relax before starting to walk to Hailey's room. She was going to be very careful with what Hailey ate from now on.

End of Flashback

Rachel wiped the tears in her eyes, shaking the memory out of her head. She couldn't keep that promise to herself. She didn't keep Hailey safe and she felt horrible for it. Rachel was so busy thinking that she didn't notice Quinn run in the room.

As soon as she reached Rachel, Quinn threw her arms around her. "How is she? Have you heard anything?"

Rachel shook her head. "No not yet. It's driving me crazy."

"Relax, she'll be okay." Quinn looked across the room at Puck, who looked disheveled. "What happened to him?"

"He got drunk and missed Hailey's entire recital. Then screamed at me saying that she and I ruined his life."

Quinn glared at Puck. "That asshole. So what are you going to do?"

"Right now I'm going to focus my attention on Hailey." She glanced at Puck. "I'll deal with him later."

Meanwhile, Puck sat in the chair completely distraught by what happened. What was going on didn't register until he was standing over Rachel, who was cradling Hailey in her arms. His little girl was in trouble and there was nothing he could do about it. When he started thinking about what he said to Rachel, Puck felt so ashamed it was hard to describe it. He couldn't imagine Hailey's reaction if she would've heard him say what he said and he was grateful that she wasn't around to hear it.

While he was thinking, a doctor finally walked out. "Hailey Berry's mother?"

Rachel stood up and walked over to him. "How is she?"

"She's responding to treatment so she should be okay. We're going to keep her overnight just to be sure though."

She nodded. "Thank you. Can I see her now?"

"Absolutely. She's been asking for you since she woke up."

As the doctor walked away, Rachel held out a breath that she didn't realize she had been holding before walking over to Quinn and the guys. When she saw the look on their faces, she smiled at them. "She's going to be okay."

Everyone breathed out a sigh of relief as Quinn smiled. "That's great. Can you see her?"

"Yeah, I'm about to go see her now. Thanks for being here."

Finn put a comforting hand on Rachel's shoulder. "Of course we'd be here. You know all of us love and care about Hailey."

Rachel nodded before starting to walk to Hailey's room. She noticed Puck look relieved but she couldn't talk to him right now. The hurtful words were too fresh in her brain. When she walked into the room, Hailey looked up at her and smiled.

"Hi Mommy," she whispered, obviously still groggy from the medication.

Rachel quickly walked over and hugged her. "I'm so glad you're okay. I should've watched you better."

Hailey gave a light shrug. "I kind of dug into the dessert so it's not your fault."

Rachel laughed a little as Quinn, Finn, Sam and Puck tentatively walked into the room. Sam was the first to speak. "Sorry, we just couldn't wait."

"It's okay. I think she's good enough to have more than one visitor."

As the three gathered around Hailey, Puck motioned to the door and Rachel nodded before following him out. Once they were outside and could hear the others talking to Hailey, Puck sighed before turning to Rachel.

"Rachel I am so sorry for what I said back there. I was drunk and stupid and I feel like complete shit for missing Hailey's recital."

She nodded. "I know you're probably sorry for how it came out but I think some part of you meant what you said. I mean, when people get drunk they normally blurt out a weird version of the truth and that's what you did."

He tried to move closer to her. "Rachel-"

Rachel put her hands up in front of her to stop him. "Stop okay? We were doing just fine without you. It was a mistake for all of this to come out so I think it would be best if we went back to how things were before."

Puck frowned. "You mean I won't see Hailey anymore?"

She nodded. "You've made it pretty clear that she's not important to you and that all she's done is ruin your life so it should be easy to get back to life before her."

"And what about us?"

Rachel shrugged. "Let's face it. Us being together was a longshot anyway. We only paid attention to each other in high school when it was convenient for us and we only got together this time because we wanted to be here for Hailey. It's pretty clear that, that arrangement isn't working so it's best if we just end it."

"Rachel this is ridiculous. Hailey loves me and you and me are getting our shot that we never got in high school. You can't just let it end like this over some things that I said when I was drunk."

She looked in the room and saw Hailey smiling and laughing at what Sam and Finn were doing to cheer her up. She knew she couldn't risk having Hailey's heart broken again because of Puck so she turned back to look at him with tears in her eyes. "Well I am."

Not waiting for Puck to respond, Rachel walked back into the room to sit with Hailey. Puck stood there in shock over what had just happened. Rachel had just cut him out of her and their daughter's life. He screwed up so badly that she wanted nothing to do with him. He should've known going out wasn't a good idea and that he was being stupid. There was nothing wrong with his life, if anything it had gotten better since Rachel and Hailey came into it. He had to fix this. He just had to.

It had been a few weeks since the peanut incident and Rachel was trying to move on. When Hailey asked why they couldn't hang out with Puck anymore, she had simply said that he was busy with work. Of course, Hailey was disappointed but she didn't question it any further, knowing that it would possibly upset her mother.

But one day while they were in their apartment watching a movie together, Hailey couldn't hold back her curiosity. She looked up at Rachel. "Mommy?"

"Yes?"

"Why doesn't Noah see us anymore? Does he not like us?"

Rachel's heart broke at the question. No matter how upset she was at Puck, she couldn't let Hailey think something like that so she shook her head. "That's not it at all. He has just been really busy." She tried thinking of a better excuse. "He's actually going away for a few days so maybe you'll see him when he comes back."

Hailey nodded and went back to watching the movie while Rachel frowned to herself. She didn't want to keep Hailey from Puck but she couldn't forget the hurtful words he said to her. If he thought that they were ruining his life then it shouldn't be much trouble for him not seeing them. Right?

Puck was miserable without Rachel and Hailey. Every time he saw a little girl it made him miss his daughter even more and just thinking about Rachel makes him want to run to their apartment and beg for forgiveness.

While he was laying on the couch moping, Finn came over and stood across from him. "Come on dude, what are you doing?"

Puck looked up at him. "What does it look like? I'm sitting in misery."

"Why don't you get up off your ass and go get them back? That has to be better than doing nothing."

"I screwed up in the worst way possible. I showed up at a recital full of kids drunk and missed my kid's performance. And on top of that, I told Rachel that she and Hailey ruined my life. I'm the worst father and boyfriend on the planet. Rachel was right to dump me and not let me see Hailey."

Finn groaned in frustration before throwing a pillow at him. "Get your ass up and go get your daughter and your girl back."

"How am I supposed to do that when Rachel won't even talk to me or listen to what I have to say?"

Finn thought for a second before looking back at Puck. "Make her listen."

I'm sorry it's short but I wanted to put Puck's plan in the next chapter. This story will be wrapping up soon, along with A Forever Kind of Love. As stated, Stay With Me will be next along with Beneath Your Beautiful. I know it's been a long time and you guys probably forgot all about me but please please review and I promise never to go away for so long ever again. Bye for now :)
