"Snow?"
Emma grabbed a towel and moved in front of Regina to hide her.
"Mom…I can explain." Emma swallowed hard and looked at the floor as Regina's hand found her way to Emma's back.
"Emma, I fight my way into the castle and your… with my… she's the evil queen." Snow gestured with her sword.
Regina reached down to grab a towel.
"Snow, lets go in the other room and talk about this."
She made to move around Emma but Snow kept the sword raised
"Regina, I don't know what dark magic you are using but you will not win." She took a step back.
Emma again stepped up almost into the sword
"Mom… please, Regina didn't do anything wrong…"
Snow cut her off. Moving out of the room and lowering the sword.
"Emma that woman has done EVERYTHING wrong! She's evil. She's about to wage war on OUR kingdom. I thought you left to help us not her. DO you realize you are turning your back on your family?! She is going to kill us all Emma do you want that? You are a traitor I knew you never listened but to think you are just like her…."
"you're not my daughter." Snow said shaking her head.
" Emma their blood is on YOUR hands! I will strike down anyone who threatens the kingdom even you SO…"
"Snow! You will NOT talk to Emma like that." Regina rushed forward into Snows face.
"No matter what has happened she is your DAUGHTER. You don't like her with me that is fine but I will NOT tolerate you treating her like this." Regina boomed. Then suddenly sounding quieter but deadly,
"get…out."
Snow looked from a menacing Regina to a very hurt Emma.
"Don't come back." With that snow ran out of the balcony.
Regina was still watching snows back disappear.
"Wow your mother." Regina turned and saw Emma physically shaking
"Emma?" She walked over and guided Emma to the bed.
"Emma sweetheart she couldn't have meant it." She brushed Emma's hair back and rubbed her arm.
"She's just confused and upset Emma. She doesn't know it's not the me that is threatening her kingdom, we'll fix this dear. Just breath." She added a small smile.
But Emma's eyes were hollow.
"She hates me…"
"No Emma…"
"She does. She always has. She doesn't love me. Ah, what have I done, maybe this is all a trap, what if I am wrong about you.." Emma starts to hyperventilate. The tears start to fall.
Regina moves behind her and wraps her arms around Emma.
"Shhh Emma it's ok. Emma it'll be ok."
Emma turned and leaned her head into Regina and kept crying.
Regina held her closer.
"Sweetheart I can go fix this if you want me to. Also Emma she couldn't have meant what she said. If you want to leave you are free to go I am sure you can go home, I'll just go talk to her…"
"Regina no! She could hurt you! I'm not going home."
Regina pulled back and looked into her eyes. There was fight back in them, Emma was still worried about her.
"ok. I won't go after her then.
But I could be depriving you of a dashing rescue."
Emma smiled at that and the crying and turned to a quite sniffle.
"shut up."
Emma looked out the balcony.
"Can you send a message … to stop the war?" The green eyes still pooled with tears looked hopeful.
Regina grabbed both Emma's hands in hers.
"Yes."
She removed one hand to craft a raven out of thin air. Her symbol.
"Go, tell the troops to fall back."
With that the bird was gone.
Snow had been sitting just outside off the balcony and had heard the whole conversation. The way Regina talked to Emma. Who was this woman? She was not sure she trusted what she heard but she had to get back now in case there was still a war in the morning.
