Hope you don't mind that this chapter is a bit longer...

When she awoke she felt a moving and shaking. Her fingers were wet and opening her eyes she found them covered with blood. She observed her hands but could not find any wounds. Saya looked around and noticed that she was carried by Solomon. His jacket ripped and dyed dark red. He was running behind Kai and Monique, until they stopped in front of a door. Kai rang the bell and hammered against the wood. It took a while until Julia opened and let them into the corridor.

"I can walk", Saya whispered and ordered Solomon to let her down. However as soon as she stepped onto her injured leg she collapsed. The sudden pain reminded her of the bullet that had hit her. She struggled to get up on her feet again but Solomon lifted her up and carried her again.

She heard Kai's, Julia's and David's voices discussing about what had happened. David led them down a stair into the basement. Together with Kai he pushed an almost empty shelve along the wall until a hidden door was released. Julia did not hide her surprise

"Since when do we have a secret door in or basement?" she asked half astonished, half reproachful.

"I learned from the past and prepared for the future", he answered, "You never know what might happen and what you might need a secret room for."

Behind the door lay a small windowless room with four beds and cupboards along the walls. Another half opened door led into a small bathroom.

"You can hide here for a while until we found out what is going on with this chevalier. I will keep watch upstairs," David said and with a glance at Saya and Solomon he added: "There is some blood in the fridge." He turned on the light, let them enter the room and closed the door behind them. Solomon laid Saya onto one of the beds and sank down onto another. Meanwhile Julia prepared blood infusions for them.

She observed Sayas leg and said: "I should remove the bullet. The wound will probably heal quickly afterwards. It might hurt a bit." Saya bit on her lip but the pain wasn't as bad as she had expected. She closed her eyes to rest and soon drifted into a slumber.

Julia asked Solomon whether he needed anything. He pulled out his jacket and asked: "If you could wash this please, I would be grateful." She nodded but threw a sceptical glance at his wounds. She had worked with the chiropteran for many years now but still she could hardly believe that only a bit of blood could cur such deadly wounds.

When Saya woke up the others where silent, everyone busy with their own thoughts. The only noise in the room came from Mei, who tried to pile up packages of rice and canned vegetables on the floor. She seemed to have forgotten the shooting girl and the fight.

"How long did I sleep?", Saya asked for she couldn't guess the time in this windowless room. Kai glanced at his watch and answered: "It is already noon. You slept for almost twenty hours."

"Do we have anything to eat?" she starred at Mei's toys. Kai laughed: "David or Julia will bring us something fresh made down here soon.

She looked around in the room: At Kai, at Solomon, at Monique and at Mei. "Where is Haji?" she finally whispered. Kai shook his head. For a while he remained silent, than he replied: "He did not come here with us. I haven't seen him since the fight."

"I have seen him", Solomon cut his word, "when we left, Hikaru gave up and went with Hibiki into the other direction. I think he was following them."

Saya was even worried without noticing Kai's frown and the gaze he threw Solomon. "I am sure he will soon show up", he said to cheer up his sister and changed the topic saying: "I wonder when lunch will be ready. Julia said it would be ready at half past twelve and it is already quarter to one."

Kai had hardly finished his sentence when David opened the door, carrying a pot of hot soup. "You need to tell me again – and don't forget any detail – about who this Chevalier is, what he did and what he wants.

"The problem is", Kai replied, "that we don't really know that either." While they were having lunch, Kai told the whole story to David, who was taking notes. Sometimes one of the others added a comment or something he had forgotten to mention.

Afterwards the two men tried to puzzle all the hints together but they did not turn out with anything useful. "Before having contact to Hikaru or the twins again, there isn't much we can do about it. We have two choices: either we wait until he finds us or we try to find him first.
