Ahhh!
So this chapter, at least, has some length to it...
But let's just say that I'm not experienced in writing smut and leave it at that.
Rating is going to change now, just because I'm paranoid, and I will tell you all that I struggled with his chapter. It was hard for me to write, harder to edit, and all around a pain in the butt. I'm not sure why... the words just were not flowing. Feedback is a must for this one! If you guys have comments or suggestions on what you liked and where I could improve, that would be awesome! Both structurally and plot-wise.
Thanks for reading, everyone! :D Enjoy!
Chapter 22
Sweet-Nothings
Kili
A couple of days later the family was sitting quietly at the dining room table, eating a meal of salmon and green beans, when there was a sudden rap at the door.
"I'll get that," Bilbo spoke, wiping his hands on a napkin as he stood.
A few moments later, the other three heard Bilbo open the door and soon there was a cheerful, 'Oh, hello Dwalin. Come in!' Then the door shut once more and Bilbo walked back into the dining room, accompanied now by a tired-looking Dwalin.
Kili had never seen someone who looked as intimidating as the tall, thick, bald man that now stood a mere few feet away from him. Fili had talked a little bit about Dwalin, but all he truly knew was that he managed the tattoo shop that Fili worked at, and that he was friends with Thorin, though he didn't look like someone who you'd easily befriend.
"You must be Kili," Dwalin spoke in a gruff voice, a thick Scottish accent making him sound even more brutish. "Dwalin," he finished, holding out a large hand.
Kili swallowed and took the hand, shaking it firmly. "Mister Dwalin."
The man gave him a nod and then moved to take a seat across from Bilbo and Thorin, and Kili glanced at Fili, who sat next to him, to find the blonde giving him a cheeky smirk.
"What?"
"You're scared of Dwalin? Really?"
Kili flushed and stole a look at the large man, to make sure he wasn't listening, and then turned back to Fili. "He's intimidating."
The blonde snorted and gave Kili a playful nudge, cheeks dimpling. "Nah, he's a big teddy bear. You'll learn, soon enough. You two would get along famously."
"Did you find any information?"
Kili tuned into the conversation happening at the other end of the table. He'd almost forgotten that Thorin had asked Dwalin to see if he could find any information on Fili's first parents.
"I brought the information you gave me to Balin, down at the station, and he looked through all of their files and databases."
"And?" Thorin pushed.
"There were apparently very few results on Sabina and Jared Martell. It's possible they've changed their names, but even then it would show up on records somewhere, I'm sure. Of course the drug dealing is on their records, as were various other things, but in regards to their time after prison… there isn't much."
Kili turned to Fili once more, who was definitely no longer smiling. His expression was masked to complete neutrality, but it was obvious that he was struggling to hold it together. The brunette noticed that his hands on the table had balled into fists, his jaw was clenched, and a vein in his neck stood out, as though he straining himself to keep from breaking down.
"Is there anything else we can do?" Bilbo asked. "Did Balin have any ideas?"
"He's talking to some other people he thinks might be able to help," Dwalin replied, leaning back in his chair and crossing his arms. "He's got a lot of connections. Just give him some time."
Bilbo nodded, and then the quiet resumed. Dwalin dished up a plate of food, and everyone else went back to eating, giving Kili the chance to think.
He strongly hoped that someone would be able to gather some information as to the whereabouts of these awful people that were coming after deserved to be punished, and Fili definitely deserved some peace. Ever since they had read the first letter Bilbo had showed them, Kili had noticed a growing tension within the blonde, and everyday it worsened. There were times when Fili didn't even want to talk to the younger boy and just sat quietly, staring off at nothing, more often than not with a drink in his hand, albeit a small one.
"Fili," he murmured, leaning towards the blonde. "It's going to be okay."
The blonde didn't look up, but gave a curt nod.
A couple of weeks went by without mishap, and Kili was starting to think that maybe Sabina and Jared have given up. He definitely thought they deserved to be sent back to prison, but he wasn't about to complain if they had decided to leave the family alone, either. Honestly, he was just happy that Fili's mood was starting to lighten, and they were even going as far as to have a party.
"What should I wear?"
Kili snorted at the blonde, who stood in front of his closet, a look of deep concentration on his face.
"You sound like such a girl," Kili finally spoke. "And besides, it's just a casual dinner party, with family and friends. They aren't going to care about what you're wearing."
A couple of days prior, Bilbo had come up with the grand idea to have a dinner party. The guest list included the four of them, Legolas, Tauriel, Dwalin, Balin, Ori and Dori. It was a pretty small gathering, compared to the original guest list that Bilbo had drawn up, but that was exactly what Fili needed; something small, with all of his closest friends and family.
"Well," Kili continued when Fili gave no response, still just standing in his underwear, "if you don't hurry up, the guests are going to start arriving, and you'll have to answer the door in nothing but your briefs."
"They're boxer briefs, thanks," the blonde chuckled, pulling out a pair of khaki pants and a red sweater. "How do you do it?"
"How do I do what?" Kili responded.
"Look the way you do." Fili spoke, turning to him and pulling on his clothes.
The brunette looked down at his skinny jeans, toms and striped thermal. He didn't fully understand what Fili meant. He just wore what he had, and it really wasn't much. Of course, he had acquired some better clothing since moving in with his new family, but he still didn't have a lot and even managed to fit all of his articles of clothing into the bottom drawer of Fili's dresser.
"It's just how I look," Kili shrugged, picking self-consciously at a loose string on his sleeve.
"You're lucky," Fili murmured.
Kili flushed, but stood up, now that Fili was done dressing, and the two of them wordlessly exited their room and made their way downstairs, just as the first knock came at the door.
Fili flung the door open and in less than a second had his arms full of a hysterical Tauriel.
"I feel like I haven't seen you in so long!" she exclaimed, hugging him tightly.
"Sorry," the blonde spoke, the sound muffled in her shoulder. "I've just had to take some personal time. I'll be back at work next week."
She pulled back and moved to hug Kili, a huge smile on her face. "How have you two been? Up to any trouble?"
"None. I promise," Kili replied, laughing lightly. "You look gorgeous, Tauriel. How have you been?"
It was true. When she stepped back he was able to truly look at her for the first time. Her hair was pulled back in intricate braids, she had on a green dress that brought out the color of her hair, and she looked as though she was glowing. Even if he wasn't attracted to girls, he could definitely appreciate Tauriel's ethereal beauty.
"Thanks," she flushed. "I've been great."
Just then, Legolas stepped through the still-open door, carrying a large bowl of what looked like potato salad, a similar glow apparent in his skin.
"My oh my, did you two show up together?" Kili smirked, looking between the two. "Do my senses detect a brand new couple?"
Both Tauriel and Legolas blushed, glancing briefly at each other before Tauriel answered a sly, "Maybe."
Kili and Fili both erupted into happy cries, congratulating the pair and ushering them towards the kitchen. Kili felt so relieved that the two had finally come together, and he couldn't even imagine how relieved Fili felt. He'd been dealing with them for years.
Shortly after Tauriel and Legolas' arrival, the rest of the guests showed up and everyone ate. Kili was able to catch up with Ori, which he hadn't been able to do for a long while, and it sounded like he was really enjoying his time spent away from the bed and breakfast, at his new job. Everyone ate and got quite drunk, besides Dori and Balin, since their siblings needed designated drivers, and Fili, of course, resulting in some interesting topics of conversation.
"I don't care how long we argue about this. You'll never convince me that a pit bull could fight a mountain lion and win. Nothing can fight a mountain lion. Nothing!" Tauriel nearly shouted, leaning towards Dwalin, who'd given her the idea in the first place.
"Pit bulls have jaws made of steel, girlie," the gruff man replied, drunkenly. After spending a couple of weeks around Dwalin, Kili had finally grown used to the giant of a man, and now thought the scary tone with which he spoke was hilarious, when on the inside he was a squishy as a teddy bear. "You'd better watch your back around them."
"Yeah, but not mountain lions. Mountain lions don't have to watch their back."
Kili, even through his buzzed haze, couldn't help but be exasperated by the argument, and turned his attention back to Ori, Fili and Legolas, who were all seated on the floor, next to him, discussing Tauriel and Legolas' newfound relationship.
"I'm amazed at how long it took you two," Fili was saying.
"Shut up. She's a pain, and you know it," Legolas drawled, leaning back on his elbows. "I couldn't just tell her my feelings. She would've laughed in my face!"
"She seems nice," soft-spoken Ori replied. "Why would she laugh at you?"
"Because she thinks I'm gay!"
"Well, she doesn't now," Fili pointed out. He was definitely the only one in the vicinity that had his head on straight.
"Obviously," Legolas said.
"You're gay?" Ori questioned, clearly confused.
Kili watched Fili roll his eyes at the two and then scooted closer to the blonde, wanting to be right next to him all of a sudden. Kili usually had sudden mood swings or random emotions when he consumed alcohol, and right then he wanted nothing more than to snuggle up right next to the blonde.
"Hey," Fili chuckled, turning his attention to the brunette that was now leaning into his side. "What are you doing?"
"Just wanted to be close to you," he replied sleepily. It had to be late now, and he was just about ready for bed.
Fili smiled down at the curled-up brunette and wrapped an arm around him. "You look ready to fall asleep."
"Just about."
"Don't worry," Fili whispered before dropping a kiss to the top of Kili's head. "This'll be over soon enough."
The thought of climbing into bed with he blonde made Kili's toes tingle and he smiled warmly. He was so glad he had suggested moving into Fili's bedroom permanently. It had definitely been one of his better ideas, considering he got to go to bed with such a perfect guy every night. "Okay."
Sooner than Kili thought they would, people began saying their goodbyes and leaving, except for Tauriel and Legolas, who ended up making their way to a guest bedroom to knock out, considering it wouldn't be safe for either of them to drive, and they had plenty of room to accommodate them.
Fili and Kili said their goodnights to Thorin and Bilbo before trekking up the stairs, which proved to be difficult for the brunette, who could barely stand.
"You drank way too much," Fili groaned, lifting Kili up bridal-style to carry him the rest of the way up the stairs.
"I didn't," Kili feebly argued. "You drank too much."
"Whatever you say," Fili laughed, dropping Kili onto the bed. He then proceeded to tug off Kili's shoes, pants and shirt, quickly followed by his own, and Kili couldn't help but grin.
"Eager, Fee?" he drawled, eyeing the blonde's perfectly toned chest and abdomen.
"To sleep? Yes."
Kili tried to cluck his tongue, but wasn't exactly able to, so it just came out as a strange, thick noise. "Hmmm, I think you're eager for my body."
The blonde laughed loudly at that, pausing in the unbuttoning of his pants to look at Kili. "You sure have a way with words."
Instead of responding, Kili simply smirked and reached down to yank of his own underwear, completely baring himself to blonde.
Fili
Fili was floored, and couldn't help but look away, blood rushing in two completely directions so quickly that it nearly made him dizzy. He felt a flush rise in his cheeks, but also felt himself hardening in his pants, quickly becoming uncomfortable. Sure, the two had fooled around quite a bit over the last couple of weeks, but they'd always some clothing on, and though he'd glanced at Kili once or twice while the two had been changing, he'd never really looked at the brunette, too afraid of being caught.
"Fee," Kili whined, drawing his eyes back to the sprawled brunette. "Don't you want me?"
"You've no idea."
"Then come on!" Kili growled
Fili stood frozen for a moment, before quickly discarding his socks and pants and climbing onto the bed, lying down next to the younger boy, all while trying to ignore his complete nakedness. Kili didn't seem pleased with the situation, and wasted no time before rolling over to sit atop the blonde, a devilish look in his eyes.
"Kili, you've really got to get off me."
"No," he replied firmly, rolling his hips, causing Fili to groan softly.
"You're drunk."
"I know."
Fili sighed. "Then you know how wrong this is."
"I know what I'm doing, Fili," Kili spoke, leaning down to whisper in the older boy's ear. "I need this. And so do you."
Before Fili could protest, Kili slid down the blonde's body, leaving a tiny trail of kisses as he went, and began to tug off Fili's boxer briefs, much to Fili's horror.
"Kee, stop."
Kili gave him a glare that would've made even Bilbo cringe and then went back to what he was doing, successfully removing the older boy's last piece of clothing.
"You're so pretty, Fee," Kili smiled, looking Fili up and down. It was all the older boy could do not to cover himself with his hands. Instead, he did the same with Kili, letting his eyes rake over the younger boy's lithe body.
"So are you."
Fili barely caught Kili's flush in the dark, and the brunette slithered his way back up the blonde's body, maneuvering his way in between Fili's legs.
Once Kili seemed pleased with his position, he leaned down to capture Fili's lips in a harsh kiss, all teeth and tongue. Fili keened as Kili tugged on his bottom lip with harsh teeth, their lower bodies grinding together, attempting to find some friction to ease the pressure.
"Fuck.. Kee…" Fili could hardly breathe, his voice climbing octaves as he felt the younger boy reach down and wrap slender fingers around both of them, forcing their weeping erections together in a slick slide of Kili's fist. It was all Fili could do to keep his eyes from rolling back in his head.
"So much better without clothes," Kili mumbled, pulling away from the blonde's mouth. "Don't you think?"
Fili could only nod.
The brunette laughed, leaning down so that his lips were closer to Fili's ear, his harsh breaths tickling him. "Why is it that I seem more coherent, when I'm the one who's supposedly drunk?"
"Sh-shut up," Fili groaned, rolling his hips up a little harder, searching for just the slightest bit more friction to get him off. Kili did seem a lot more alert than he had moments before, and the blonde pinned it to the fact that it was taking the brunette a lot of focus. He, on the other hand, was getting drunk off of the younger boy hovering over him, the sweat dripping down the side of his face, hair a wild mess of molasses strands.
"You're so sensitive." The younger smiled, flashing perfect white teeth. The musky smell that radiated from him was making Fili's entire body shake with need, and he didn't know how to express his need for Kili to give him more.
So Fili reached up and dug his fingers into Kili's sides, gasping and moaning unintelligible words.
"What was that, Fee?"
The blonde squeezed his eyes shut, focusing on the feel of Kili's warm flesh sliding against his own and the soft hitches in the younger's breath.
"More…" he finally breathed, gripping Kili hard enough to leave dark bruises, but uncaring at the moment.
"Sorry?"
The blonde could've slapped Kili, if he hadn't been so distracted by the suddenly harder rolls of Kili's hips and the tightening grip of his fingers.
"Unnggh…Yes."
"Fee?"
"Just… Kee. Fuck."
"Such a mouth on you," the brunette spoke. "I love it."
Kili leaned down to capture Fili's lips once again, but the kiss was a stark difference to the heat in the room and the movement of their bodies. The tenderness in it was almost enough for Fili to lose it right there, but he still hung on the edge, desperately clinging to the boy above him as his breathe was whisked away in a fiery burn of soft lips and a skilled tongue.
Every time they paused for air, Kili murmured sweet nothings to the older boy, each word bringing him closer and closer. At one particularly violent thrust of Kili's hips and a whispered 'I love you,' Fili felt his balls draw up and the pressure in his stomach tighten, spreading a desperate heat through his whole body to the tips of his fingers. Kili seemed to sense it in the way Fili suddenly tensed, and he broke their kiss to lean down next to Fili's ear again.
"Come on, Fee. Let go for me."
The words finally did it, and the blonde did let go. His orgasm slammed into him like a ten-thousand pound brick wall, knocking the air out of him, and causing him to release thick, pearly ropes all over Kili's hands and his own stomach, body pulled into a taut arch. He couldn't even make a sound, but his eyes snapped open, and all he could see was the ceiling and part of Kili's face, which was masked with pleasure as the blonde's orgasm finally sent the brunette over the edge as well.
As the two came down from their high, Kili rested on top of the blonde, head pillowed on his chest. Fili felt more content than he had in a long while and didn't even feel any guilt over that fact that Kili was drunk. He clearly wasn't too far gone to speak correctly, even if the stairs had been too challenging for him. Some people were just affected by alcohol in different ways. All Fili cared about was the brunette's state of mind.
"I love you, Fili."
"I know," the blonde smiled. "I love you too."
"I mean it," Kili added.
Fili sat up, forcing the brunette up with him, so that Kili ended up sitting in his lap, straddling him, a faint blush rising to his cheeks. Honestly, Fili thought that the younger boy found the strangest times to become embarrassed.
"I know that, Kee. I mean it too."
Kili wrapped his arms around Fili's neck, burying finger's in his wild mane of golden hair, and leaned forward to rest his head upon the other's. "I just want you to understand how much I really care about you. I don't want this to end. Ever."
"It won't," he assured the younger boy. Even though Kili could be an absolute fiend in the sheets, he was truly a sensitive, self-conscious being, and it was what Fili found most endearing about him.
Kili smiled his brightest smile and gave Fili a peck on the nose, face still flushed and a thin sheen of sweat left over from their coupling.
As they pulled apart, Fili grimaced at the mess on their stomach and grabbed his tee shirt from the floor to wipe them off before sliding under the sheets. He couldn't remember a time he'd ever been so happy, and he wrapped his arms around the slender brunette and gave him a long, deep kiss, before curling up to sleep, placid smiles on both of their faces.
Kili
When Kili awoke the next morning, it was far, far too early for his liking. He knew this because his head was throbbing angrily from his hangover, which he had intended to mostly sleep off, the sun hadn't even risen, and Fili was still asleep, and Kili was never the first one to wake.
The brunette groaned and reached for his phone, to see what time it was, and noticed he had a new voicemail. He sighed and slid his thumb over the screen to unlock it, figuring it had been the reason he'd woken up.
Kili's phone was fairly new, so when he noticed the voicemail was from an unknown number, he didn't fret much, assuming that he'd given his number to someone and just didn't have their's in his contacts yet. This assumption was quickly dismissed upon hearing the message.
At first there wasn't any noise at all, except for that of a person breathing, and then, quite suddenly, a woman began speaking, low and angry.
"We know who you are, Kili, and we can see you."
Kili let out a quiet gasp and placed a hand over his mouth, terrified and disbelieving.
"And you listen here, you little prick," a man's voice spoke, though he sounded shockingly less terrifying than the woman. "You can't touch our boy. He's ours and ours alone."
"We will rip you apart, little boy," the woman continued. "And that dreadful uncle of yours too."
The line disconnected and he quickly left his voicemail and shut off his phone, wishing he'd never heard it. Normally it would've been difficult to take a couple of meth addicts seriously, but they didn't seem stupid. They were smart and cunning. He just knew that they had been watching him and Fili the night before. They were stalking Fili - invading his privacy and ruining his life - and that was enough to make the brunette shake with rage.
Kili quickly and silently slid out of bed, doing his best not to disturb the slumbering blonde. He knew that he really should've told Fili about the message first, but he'd been doing so well, and he looked so peaceful, so he decided against it, and instead, ran downstairs, taking the steps two at a time.
Luckily, Kili was able to find Thorin, who was already awake and doing some paperwork in his office, nursing a steaming mug of coffee.
"Uncle?"
Thorin looked up with startled blue eyes. "Kili? It's barely 4:30. What are you doing up?"
"I need to speak with you."
Thorin motioned for Kili to take a seat across from him, at his desk, and the brunette did so, sitting uncomfortably stiff. He didn't even know where to begin.
"What is it?" Thorin finally asked, once he realized Kili wasn't going to be the first to speak.
Kili shook his head, unsure if he'd made the right decision. Somebody needed to know about the voicemail, but he wasn't really comfortable talking about it.
"I can't help you if I don't know the problem."
Sighing, Kili finally reached into his pocket and pulled out his phone, opening the voicemail before handing it to his uncle. "Just listen."
Watching as Thorin listened to the recording was almost painful, his expression ranging from confused, to realization, to shock, to disgust. When he was finished, he set the device on the desk between them, and they both looked at it, as if it was the object that was causing all of these problems.
"What were they talking about, Kili?"
He cleared his throat, unable to help feeling embarrassed as he answered. "Well, last night… when Fili and I went to bed… Some things might've happened. And I received this not long after we fell asleep, so they must've known what was happening. Or they'd been watching, which is unthinkable. How could they have watched us? It makes me sick to think about what they might've seen… things that are so personal. And if they were listening to us… I can't even think. I'm so angry!"
Kili knew he'd begun ranting and wasn't shocked when Thorin held up a hand, looking a little bit sick.
"Kili, I really, really don't want to hear details. All that matters is that these people are still coming after Fili, and you too, it sounds like."
"And you," Kili added.
Thorin gave a curt not, seemingly disinterested in his own safety. "Does Fili know?"
"No. I didn't want to wake him."
"That was probably for the best." The older man leaned back in his chair, pinching the bridge of his nose and letting his eyes slide shut. "I don't know what we are going to do, Kili. I suggest you go back to bed for now. I will talk to Bilbo, and I will get back to you."
"What about Fili?"
Thorin opened his eyes once more, cobalt orbs looking beyond exhausted and worried. "I wouldn't tell him just yet. It will only frighten him."
Kili gave a small nod and stood from the chair, moving to leave the room and head back upstairs.
"Thank you, Uncle," he paused, speaking from the doorway. "For everything."
"Of course, my nephew."
Critique, please!
I'll love you forever.
