Link watch as Fierce Deity tossed Rahzel around. He quickly attached a bomb to an arrow. He saw the man stand over the woman posed to strike. He pulled back the bow string and aimed above the enemy's head. The projectile hit the stone wall behind Fierce Deity just as his blade was going down. The explosion that occurred was just enough to throw him from his feet. Link smiled as the taller male glared in his direction.
"Don't worry, hero. I haven't forgotten you," Fierce Deity said menacingly. Link nocked another arrow, daring the man to attack him. The hero stepped forward confidently and the taller man also shifted as he readied to attack.
The stone wall behind Fierce Deity imploded. Bright light blinded Link momentarily. As his eyes adjusted to the light, the blonde could hear bokoblin screeches. Memories of his past quest ran through his mind and Link drew his sword ready to protect himself. He could see the red bodies of the herd of bokoblins as they blocked the sunlight that now filtered through the cave. But beside the red bodies was the unmistakable shape of a Sheikah.
The bodies standing in the new cave opening flowed in like water from a river. Link took a step back as bokoblins ran past him focused on Fierce Deity. Link felt as someone stopped beside him. "Your majesty," the figure greeted causing the hero to turn to the newcomer. Link found himself looking eye-to eye with a Sheikah warrior. "Are you well?" the man asked concerned.
"Yes, I am," Link answered still slightly confused; why would his people work with those of the other kingdom? The hero didn't know how to phrase the question so he kept silent. Instead, he watch the Bokoblins try to overpower Fierce Deity who was slaughtering them.
"We should retreat, sir," the Sheikah said beside Link. "The bokoblins won't keep the enemy distracted for long." Link frowned at the Sheikah; to leave now would leave Ghirahim and Rahzel to the mercy of Fierce Deity.
"I'm staying here until the enemy is no more," Link said in a commanding voice. The Sheikah looked unsure and ashamed as he looked down at his feet. "How could you even think about abandoning your allies.
"But, Sir. They are not our allies. We only teamed up to get you out," the Sheikah said. The man's words made Link feel guilty. He knew that the distrust and dislike of their fellow nation was due to Ghirahim, Rahzel, and himself.
"Well, for the moment they are our allies," Link said. With that comment, he ran toward Fierce Deity where he would fight side-by-side with those he once saw as monstrous mindless creatures.
LOZ-LOZ-LOZ-LOZ-
Ghirahim felt someone wrap their arms under his and dragged him away from the mass chaos of Bokoblins. "Don't worry, my lord. I've got you," Mavis's voice said; his normally cheerful voice now serious. The sorcerer stopped his movement and let go of his grip on the king. He then walked to Ghirahim's front and knelt down. "Now, you two stay here and leave the freak to us," Mavis said smiling. Ghirahim looked to his right to see Rahzel reclined against the cavern wall beside him. "The healers will be here shortly. Stay awake till then," Mavis said and started to run off to support the bokoblins that were battling Fierce Deity.
Ghirahim sighed deeply. "Are you okay?" Rahzel asked looking at the king. "I'm sorry I shouldn't have gotten distracted."
Ghirahim shrugged then winced in pain. "We're still alive," Ghirahim said, "so no need to apologize." He looked back at the battle with Fierce Deity. Link and a handful of Sheikah warriors were giving Fierce Deity a hard time.
"It is amazing that Link and his warriors stayed to help. We haven't gave them any reason to," Rahzel said. Before Ghirahim could respond he was crowded by three different healers.
The healers laid their hands on his wounds. He could hear their whispers which were none to kind about the Sheikah or Hylians. Ghirahim looked over to Rahzel who didn't comment, but he could see the corners of her lips turn downwards. "If you are done with use, please aid the others," Ghirahim commanded, "Bokoblin and Sheikah." The last three words came out more forcefully. The three healers bowed and hurried to assist the wounded warriors.
"It is our fault that they see Hylians and Sheikah that way," Rahzel said at last.
"We are not the source of the problem, but we sure did exaggerated it," Ghirahim said with a sigh. "But we can fix it. We need to patch up that which we torn apart."
He pulled himself to his feet slowly holding onto his side. It was healed, but still slightly sore. Ghirahim turned around and offered his hand to Rahzel. She grabbed it and he pulled her to her feet. She wobbled slightly but regained her balance quickly. "Go ahead. Fight with the hero. I'm going to rest for a while," Rahzel said pointing with her chin toward the hero.
Ghirahim grinned at the woman before kissing her forehead. "This won't take long, my love," he bragged with a flourish of his hand.
"Hurry up and go," Rahzel said pushing him slightly as she chuckled. Ghirahim jogged to where Link just caught Fierce Deity with the Master Sword. Ghirahim stepped in and sliced Fierce Deity across the back. The enemy staggered gasping slightly.
Fierce Deity tried to back away from Link and Ghirahim, but found himself blocked by bokoblins and Sheikah who struck out causing him to fall onto his knees. "But how?" The kneeling white-haired man asked, "None of you can stand each other how you can defeat me?"
Link and Ghirahim looked at each other knowing that they were thinking the same thing. "We can't stand you even more," Link said smartly. Ghirahim chuckled. Link took a step backward, "I'll let you take it from here."
Ghirahim's light chuckle became more darker. He could make Fierce Deity's death slow and painful, but the thought didn't satisfy him. "You're pathetic," Ghirahim said. "All alone and no one will mourn for you."
Fierce Deity looked up his blank eyes staring into Ghirahim's brown ones. "And will any mourn for you?" he asked.
Ghirahim didn't feel the need to answer. If he were to die, he knew Rahzel would mourn and that's all that matter. So he answered, "The ones that really matter would." Ghirahim stabbed Fierce Deity through the chest. He left the blade there until, the other man stopped breathing.
LOZ-LOZ-LOZ-
Rahzel followed after the herd of Bokoblins beside Ghirahim. She looked past the herd to see Link walking beside his warriors. Making up her mind, she ran past the bokoblin ranks. She pushed some of the demons aside as she made her way to the hero.
"Link," she called out. The blonde Hylian turned to face her. The Sheikah beside him drew their weapons as she made her approach which caused the bokoblins to screech their protest. Rahzel could hear Ghirahim command the soldiers to calm. Link gave her a look of confusion. The woman took a deep breath. "Link," she started again. "I must apologize to you," she breathed out quickly.
"You don't have anything to apologize for," Link said now stepping closer to her so they can converse.
Rahzel shook her head, "You're wrong. I…I have acted out of line. I…I…I've.." The woman paused. "What I'm trying to say is that: I apologize because I hated you when you were only doing what you thought was right and I was vengeful, I wanted you dead. And I don't want our kingdoms to continue in this tension."
Rahzel bowed her head trying to avoid his gaze. A hand placed itself on her shoulder and she looked up to see Link giving her a smile. "Apology accepted."
"Perhaps we can start some interkingdom events," Ghirahim's voice suggested beside the pair now.
"Like a ball," Rahzel said.
"Or a tournament," Link said excitedly. Rahzel thought about the idea of crossing blades with different warriors from both nations.
"That would be perfect," Rahzel said just excited as Link. "We can have food,"
"Loftwing races," Link added.
"Those are all good ideas, but perhaps we should plan this out more fully at a later time," Ghirahim said. "It has been a very tiring couple of days."
Link sighed, "Ghirahim is right. Next month then. I will send a message soon." With that Link turned back to his soldiers and left the other nobles behind.
Ghirahim wrapped his arm around her shoulders. "Well, this is a good first step, Rahzel." Rahzel nodded and felt relieved at the possibility of the two kingdoms becoming closer.
