Chapter 24: Family

"The only one who can understand a Jinchuuriki... Is another Jinchuuriki."

~Senju Tsunade~

"I feel sorry for the Jinchuurikis," Caitlin murmured. She was sitting on the porch swing, gently swinging to and fro.

"So do I," Gwen admitted.

"Hey, some of them were asses from what I've read," Austin said, who sat on one of the chairs near the swing.

"Yeah, but imagine what they've been through. All of them were shunned, even Killer Bee, I imagine. It would screw anyone up, even more so if they have a demon inside of them influencing everything they do or think," Caitlin said, shaking her head sadly. "I'm surprised that Naruto didn't turn out bad. Probably something in the Uzumaki genes."

"I think there are several things in the Uzumaki genes that I like, if you know what I mean," Megan said, raising her eyebrows suggestively.

"Well, I know there are some things that I definitely like in their genes," Austin said, doing like Megan.

Bobby stared at him with shock. "So that one incident with the alcohol…" The boy slowly stood up and then quickly walked away.

All of the girls were snickering, with Gwen and Caitlin outright snorting with laughter.

"You're just joking, right?" Megan finally asked, after the laughter died down.

"Well," Austin started, making a strange face as though he were seriously thinking about it, setting off another bout of laughter.

The rest of the day was filled with laughter. The girl's never got their answer, but they didn't mind.

Gwen, twelve now, stretched out, laying in the late afternoon sun. Fuu was beside her, and for whatever reason, Utakata was laying on his back out in the peaceful river, fast asleep.

"How in the world does he fall asleep while swimming?" Gwen mused.

"I have no idea," Fuu admitted.

"Wanna go wake him up?" the brunette asked, grinning.

"Sure," the bug girl responded, smirking.

"I almost feel sorry for him," Gwen said, snickering.

Standing, the girls silently crept out onto the water, and with a sudden shriek, were pulled under by the supposed sleeping boy.

"You really thought that you would get the best of me?" the blue wearing teenager asked, a slight smirk on his face.

"You asshole," Gwen gasped as she came out from under the water, Fuu doing the same, though not saying anything, just glaring.

"You're the one trying to wake me up," he replied, shrugging, his eyes still closed.

"You have no sense of fun," Gwen stated.

Fuu was slowly climbing out of the water when she was pulled under again, but this time by someone else. Glaring at Gwen now, she splashed water towards the other girl.

Utakata was suddenly at alert, his hand over both the younger children's mouths to quiet them. Fuu had tensed to the point that it looked painful and Gwen was already making a clay figurine with her hand.

"Well, well, well, what do we have here?" asked someone from in front of them. The man crept closer and closer until he broke the tree line. "Are those Jinchuurikis that I see?"

Two others were beside him, a woman with blonde hair and strange facial markings, and a man with dark hair and spinning red eyes. The original man was shark-like, and was grayish blue in color. Terrifying. They're all terrifying.

"I believe that you're mistaken, Kisame-kun. Those two aren't the Jinchuurikis that we are looking for," the woman stated, winking at them in a way that only they and the red eyed man could see, since the shark man named Kisame was looking away, towards them.

"Are you sure, Megan-chan? They really do look like the Jinchuurikis," Kisame replied, frowning.

"Kisame, even if they were the Jinchuurikis, we need the One Tailed Biju first," the other man stated, already turning away from them.

"If you say so, Itachi," the blue man retorted, shrugging.

The woman stayed behind, and when she was sure that her companions were gone, she walked forward. "You have friends everywhere, Jinchuriki-sans. Be careful."

Then, she turned towards Gwen. "Your brother, Deidara, he is alright. I would bring you to him, but he- we are in an organization that is out to get Jinchurikis. The only reason Kisame did not capture you today is that he is more loyal to Itachi and I, his friends, than the organization and its goal. He is not a fool, and knows that you are Jinchuurikis." She hesitated, and then also said, "I can bring you pictures, and make him write letters for you. You can write a really quick one now."

Gwen scrambled around, rushing into the tiny cabin the three had built when they first arrived there, on the edge of the Village Hidden in the Leaf. She grabbed parchment, ink, and a pen from the desk, and quickly scribbled a letter after setting the figurine down, which said:

Dear Nii-san,

I am alright. I have been living near Konoha with two friends, Fuu, the Jinchuuriki with green hair, and a new friend, Utakata, who is also a Jinchuuriki. Please be careful. I don't know what is happening on your end, but please be careful. There is so much more I could say, but I doubt that I have the time.

Love, Gwen

She once again raced out of the house and handed the letter to the blonde woman. What's her name? Margret? Megara? Morganna? Oh, I don't remember and I don't care right now. I can talk to Deidara-nii-san!

The strange woman smiled, bowed, and then turned towards the forest, where her companions stayed out of the three's sight.

The two Jinchuurikis and their lone acquaintance stood there for at least five minutes before Utakata moved. He slowly walked into the house, and began to pack. Understanding what was happening, the two girls followed his lead and started packing their things.

"I think we should go to Konoha," Fuu said abruptly.

Utakata turned towards her, a questioning look on his face.

"The upcoming Chunin Exams would make it so that we could blend into the crowd. No one would think to look for a Jinchuuriki in such a crowded place. We would be hidden in plain sight," Fuu explained.

"I think we should gather more Jinchuurikis together," Gwen blurted out.

"That would be difficult," Utakata muttered.

"Yeah, but I imagine conditions for them aren't good, since Fuu was going to be traded for me," the brunette girl explained.

"They aren't," the other girl muttered.

"Still, we've already got so much on our plate," Utakata said, frowning.

"Yeah, but you heard what they said! They're looking for Jinchuurikis! We need to help them!" Gwen snapped, her voice rising.

"I agree with Gwen. We're going to need the numbers at the very least considering we have a whole organization after us," the mint haired girl explained. "You're outnumbered on this issue, Utakata."

"Alright, we'll do it," Utakata mumbled, scowling.

"Well, what are we waiting for now? Let's go to Konoha!" Gwen cried, beaming happily.

Warning: The awkwardness of this needs a warning, but it happens to all girls. Guys might not wanna read. Or they might, I don't know.

Omake

There was a shriek from the bathroom, sounding strangely like a wounded cat. (Utakata went to Konoha and brought a plumber back that installed two bathrooms in a week. Everyone was happy.) The other two were already up and running towards the bathroom, which was locked.

"Fuu?" inquired Gwen. "Are you okay?"

"N-no? I'm bleeding…"

Utakata's hand hit his face, his expression showing his annoyance and embarrassment. "Why did it have to be two girls? Especially two girls that weren't warned!"

"I don't understand…" Gwen said, trailing off.

Utakata groaned. "Do you know what a period is?"

"No…" came the reply from both the girls.

Now, he put his hands to his eyes, the usually calm man ridiculously embarrassed. "Okay, do you know what a menstrual cycle is?"

"A what?" asked Gwen, but Fuu was silent with horror and understanding.

"How often?" Fuu demanded.

"Once every month, but there's a pill that some kunoichi buy to stop it…" Utakata said.

"Can you please go and buy it?" Fuu pleaded.

"NO!" Utakata yelled, rushing out of the house.

"I assume he's not going to go buy the pills?" Fuu asked from behind the door.

"Nope," Gwen answered. "But I still don't understand…"

"I'm not explaining it," Fuu stated as she finally came out of the bathroom. "If he won't explain it, I'll just get you a book that will explain it."

Question: What is the most awkward moment of your life?

My answer: This one time, my cousin walked in on my changing. He thought that my bra was a swim suit top at the time, even though I was wearing a plain sports bra. What the heck?
