A/N: Omg so sorry I haven't updated in a while! I'm a huge procrastinator u_u but I promise I'll try to update at least once a week! Anyway, here we go :D
The rest of Rose's day went about as it normally would. In her classes she met some... interesting people who had transferred from Alternia high, just as Kanaya had. It made Rose wonder why so many new students were at Skaia now. I don't believe that this is a thing that normal high schools do, she thought as she sat on the stage in the large auditorium.
Rose had her Theater class as her last class of the day, luckily, so she could just stay there and wait for Dave. She loved the aesthetic feel of Skaia's auditorium. The large, nearly hollow room with the stage right when you walk in from the school hallway. The bright crimson Grand Drape that went across the stage, concealing the props and the set that Ms. Paint, the Theater teacher, hadn't cleaned up the year prior. The empty seats in front of the stage, just begging to have an audience, watching one of the schools original plays. It was truly an amazing feeling she got.
The Lalonde decided that she would write a little bit in her journal while she waited for her half-brother. Grabbing her moleskin journal, she opened it to the last page she wrote on.
So, after going through a rather dull and boring day of classroom expectations, this first day adventure has come to an end. I'm now waiting for David to show up in the auditorium so we can go back home. What on Earth could that dork be doing? I bet he's trying to convince John to bring him some apple juice again. Like we don't already have enough at home? Seriously, it was almost like his brother fed him apple juice instead of milk as an infant.
Rose paused writing when she heard a knock at the auditorium door. There were small windows on each door to the room. She tried to look and see who it was, but she couldn't due to a piece of paper taped on the window. The blonde sighed and looked back down at her journal.
It would seem as if I have some company. I'll pick up writing again later, I'd rather not leave someone locked out of the theater. That's no fun.
Closing her journal, she hopped off of the stage and casually made her way to the door. There was another knock at the door and, instead of opening it, she knocked back. It appeared as someone tried to open the door, which made Rose lift up the paper to see who it was. To her surprise, it was a familiar face. She opened the door to let her new friend in.
"Hello, Kanaya. Good to see you again." she said, stepping back to let her in.
"Likewise," she said. "It'll take some getting used to this school.. At Alternia, the auditorium was shared with the gym. This is very nice." the brunette said, looking around the room as soon as she stepped inside. Rose got a glimpse at her eyes, which seemed to be full of wonder.
"Yeah. If you stay in here long enough, it'll feel like home," Rose smiled. This new girl was one of the most interesting out of the people she had met today. Well, besides a girl named Vriska, who seemed to be extremely cocky and rude. Rose had decided she wouldn't assume anything, though. "Anyway, were you able to find your way around Skaia okay after first?"
"Oh, yeah! Skaia is so much larger than Alternia was, though, so it was a challenge. But I managed."
"I would assume," The Lalonde chuckled. "So why did you come to the theater, anyway?"
"I had actually told an... acquaintance.. That I would meet her here. Apparently she has something to tell me."
"Really now? Well, hopefully it's nothing that will start an argument."
"Hopefully. Knowing her, she'll take any chance to start somethi-"
The girls conversation was interrupted by a knocking at the door. Rose stood up with a sigh and walked towards it to open it up. As soon as she pushed the door, a girl barged in. Of course Rose recognized her. It was Vriska, whom she had met earlier.
"Is this the acquaintance you were talking about, Kanaya?" Lalonde asked with curiosity.
"...Yes, she is. What do you want Vriska-?" The short haired girl had a stern, annoyed tone to her voice, but that tone was cut off in a single moment. Before Rose knew what was even going on, Vriska had Kanaya's face cupped in the palm of her hands, kissing her.
It took her a minute, but the taller of the two pushed the other away. "How DARE you, Vriska Serket! The nerve!" Kanaya said, obviously flustered. She crossed her arms and glared at the girl. "You said you had something to SAY to me, you didn't say you'd violate my privacy!"
"Pft. Your bark is way worse than your bite, Maryam!" the Serket girl said. "Are you really implying that you don't like me? Because Terezi can sure back up the fact that Karkat said you do~ And the fact that you're blushing doesn't help!" she chuckled menacingly.
On the other side of the room, Rose watched intently, wondering if she should step in or leave the two to work it out.
"Yo, Rose, you ready to go?" She heard Dave's voice say as she turned her head.
"And where have you been? ...Doesn't matter. Go ahead out to the car, I'll be there in a few minutes, okay?"
"Wh... Oh come on, Rose, I'm craving some glorious apple juice right about now!"
"I thought you and John decided that it was piss in a jar a while back."
"It is not! God, don't listen to John!" Dave said frantically, as if he were defending his precious apple nectar.
"I will if you don't go to the car." Rose smirked at Dave. "Dork."
"... Fiiine. I'm getting you back for this," he said, sticking his tongue out at her. He proceeded to walk outside to the parking lot.
"Vriska, we've been over this! I do NOT like you!" Kanaya belted as she sneered at the other girl.
"You're in denial~" Vriska said, mocking her. "Admit it, you would KILL to date me."
"I highly doubt she would go near that far," Rose said, walking over to the two. "I do believe she'd prefer to stay as far away from you as possible right now."
The other two girls looked at her, equally confused.
"And why would that be, miss smartass?" the Serket girl said. Kanaya could tell where this was going already.
"Well, isn't it obvious? She was talking to me about how she didn't want you to come near her, first of all, and second, she pushed you away. That's a dead giveaway." The blonde of the three said, giving Vriska a stern look.
"And that's supposed to bother me?" Vriska snapped. "Hah!"
"Well if that doesn't bother you, I bet the fact that Kanaya has a boyfriend will."
Kanaya and Vriska both looked at her like she was crazy, but Kanaya caught on and went along with it.
"I told you I don't like you, Vriska." Kanaya glared.
"Wh... ..God, Aranea was right, you and your sister are exactly the same! Fuck both of you, I'm out." Vriska said as she glared at the two and went out of the auditorium. Once she was gone, Kanaya spoke.
"Thank you for that," she sighed, relieved. "Maybe now she'll leave me alone."
"Hopefully she will. If she doesn't, I know just how to convince her that you really do have a 'boyfriend.'" Rose said with a chuckle. "Trust me, I know some people."
"I can't thank you enough," Kanaya smiled. "I've kept you here long enough, so I suppose we should part, now."
"And so we shall," Rose smiled back. "See you tomorrow, Kanaya."
"See you tomorrow."
