Austin opened his eyes slowly. He rolled over in his bed to check what time it was. It was six in the morning.
I still have about three hours until I have to be up so I can go to the Team Austin meeting and I need to show up on time because Ally is still probably mad at me for being late yesterday for the fifth time in a row.
Austin closed his eyes and fell asleep.
He woke up feeling completely depressed. He didn't even care anymore. He just went through the motions today. He let everything just sort of happen. Of course this time he convinced both Trish and Dez that what he was saying was true. He then ignored their advice because there wasn't anything that he could do any more. He just wanted to talk to Ally after she closed and move on. He hoped that he could at least salvage their friendship. He meets up with one of the girls before but whether it is Alice, Amanda, Arista, or even Angela. He didn't care. He just wanted this day to be over. He doesn't know what happened but suddenly he and whatever girl he was with were kissing and he could hear Ally yelling at him. He doesn't even listen to her anymore he just stares at her. This time though he notices two things he didn't notice before. One was the tear rolling down Ally's cheek as she yelled at him. The second was that Dez was standing in the doorway of Sonic Boom wearing a Team Ally shirt. He watches Ally walk back to the store. She gets to the door before grabbing on to Dez crying. Dez looks at Austin and knows that Austin sees him. He makes his fingers into a phone and mouths, "Trish."
Austin doesn't care right now. He just wants to die. He goes home and goes straight to his room. He lies in his bed. He decides that he is not going to start the day over again. In fact he wasn't going to start any day ever again. He then thought of Dez and the last thing he said. It couldn't hurt to at least hear what Trish had to say.
He grabbed his phone and called Trish. She answered on the third ring. "Hey idiot." She says.
"I deserve that."
"Of course you do. Now what's the problem?"
"Ally. I still don't know what she is getting so mad about."
"That's why you are an idiot."
"Wait you know."
"Of course I know. I'm her best friend."
"What is it?"
"Nope you need to figure it out on your own. You're the only one who hasn't figured it out yet."
"Wait Dez knows."
"Yeah, surprisingly he was the one who pointed it out to me."
"Then why can't you tell me? Dez told you."
"No he merely pointed me in the right direction and I figured it out on my own afterwards."
"Just tell me Trish."
"Have you tried writing everything down?"
"Yeah I have."
"Well, do it again and think about it."
"Ok but don't hang up."
"Why?"
"I thought about killing myself."
"Seriously?!"
"Yeah."
"OK I won't."
Austin didn't say anything for a while as he wrote down everything. He then stared and stared at all the similarities. Suddenly he said, "Is it because I didn't help the man who jumps off the bridge?"
"No you idiot, but next time save the guy and fix that guys tire."
"Then what is it?"
"It's obvious. You like—"
"Hello?"
Austin looked at his phone. The battery died. He didn't know what Trish was going to say. He heard the clock downstairs begin to chime. It was midnight yet again. He quickly thought, I wish I could do this day over again.
The clock struck the twelfth time.
