"Alright the Team Austin meeting can begin." Ally said, pounding the gavel down on the counter. "I love gaveling."
"Ally, you do realize that Austin is not here right? Which is surprising because he called me this morning?" Trish said.
"I know and I don't care right now. I want both you and Dez to keep him away from Sonic Boom for the rest of the day." Ally said.
"Why?" Dez asked.
"Because I am seriously mad at him. So Dez, you tell him that I am so mad at him that he shouldn't come in here and that at closing I will talk to him about an ultimatum."
Dez nodded his head and then left. Trish talked to Ally. "Why are you doing this?"
"Ok, Trish this may come as a shock to you, but I like Austin."
"When are you going to tell me the shocking thing?"
"Wait you knew."
"Yeah, Dez actually noticed it first and pointed me to the truth and I figured it out too. I am glad that you finally are admitting it."
"Well what about Austin?"
"He likes you too, but he is an idiot. He doesn't know it yet."
"Should I tell him?"
"Yes, but wait until closing because Dez and I are going to try and get him to notice his feelings for you."
"OK. Thanks, Trish."
"No problem, Ally. See you later."
Ally worked the rest of the day until closing. About midway through her day though, Nelson showed up for his oboe lesson with an actual oboe. He said something about Austin giving him a picture of an oboe to help him find a real one. After his lesson, Nelson went home with his new oboe.
At around 7:50, the store was deserted so Ally went upstairs for a bit to practice her lines for the Shakespeare play that she is trying out for next week.
"Oh Romeo, Romeo, wherefore art thou Romeo?"
"I never understood that line." Austin said, scaring Ally.
Ally didn't turn around, but instead crossed her arms and said, "What are you doing here, Austin?"
"Trish told me you wanted to talk to me at closing so I showed up early to help you, but I need the keys to finish locking up."
Ally dug into her pockets and threw the keys in the direction of Austin. They hit the floor without reaching Austin. He went to pick them up.
Ally took a deep breath. Suddenly her phone vibrated in her pocket. She took it out and read the text from Dez. "Go Team Auslly."
She stared at the text for a while before realizing that Auslly was the couples name for her and Austin. She smiled at her phone and left the practice room. Nothing could have prepared her for what she saw. Austin and Brooke were kissing.
"AUSTIN MONICA MOON, I DO NOT AND WILL NOT FORGIVE YOU! I WANT YOU OUT OF MY LIFE COMPLETELY. YOU ARE NEVER ALLOWED INTO SONIC BOOM EVER AGAIN AND MORE IMPORTANTLY WE ARE NO LONGER PARTNERS OR FRIENDS!" Ally shouted at him.
"You can't speak to my boyfriend like that." Brooke said.
"Brooke, get out of here." Austin said.
Brooke looked at Austin and kissed him on the cheek before leaving.
"How could you even kiss her?" Ally asked him indignantly.
Austin couldn't take it anymore. After six times of hearing her yell at him, he had to yell back.
"YOU KNOW WHAT I DON'T CARE ANYMORE!"
"YOU NEVER HAVE! I JUST DON"T UNDERSTAND WHY YOU HATE ME!"
"I hate that you quote Shakespeare, I hate when you ramble, I hate your stupid puns, and hate when you dance." Austin said.
He suddenly realized how quiet things got. Then his words hit him. He looked at Ally to apologize, but she was already in tears.
"Ally…"
"Just go, Austin."
Ally turned around and ran up the stairs into the practice room slamming the door behind her.
She threw herself onto the couch up there and began to cry. She eventually fell asleep.
She was woken up around ten by a constant tapping on the window. She looked out the window and saw Austin. He waved at her, but she didn't wave back. Instead she shut the blinds and laid back down on the couch. Her phone vibrated. It was Austin. The tapping from earlier was back so she read the text. It said, "I have Dez's five gallon bucket of pebbles. I can do this all night long. All you have to do is listen to me."
Why does Dez have… Nevermind.
She knew that Austin wasn't going to stop so she went and opened the blinds and window. "What?" she said.
"But soft, what light through yonder window breaks? It is the east, and Ally Dawson is the sun." Austin said.
"I thought you hated Shakespeare?"
"I do, but you don't. I am just hoping that that plus this jar of pickles will at least give me a chance to talk to you."
Ally hesitated for a moment, but then said, "Give me the pickles and I'll consider it."
Austin grabbed the ladder and set it up next to the window. He climbed up with the pickles. Ally had removed the screen and Austin gave her the pickles. She quickly opened up the jar, grabbed a pickle and took a bite. After she had swallowed she said, "Alright, I am listening."
"Well, I wanted to apologize for what I said to you today. I didn't mean it."
"Don't lie, Austin. We both know you meant it."
"Fine, Ally. Those things I said I hate about you, I meant."
Ally began to shut the window. "But at least let me tell you what I love about you."
Ally stopped and reopened the window. She stared at Austin expectantly. Austin cleared his throat and said, "I love the look in your eyes when you quote Shakespeare. I know that you have that look in your eye when we write music together, but I can only see it when you do that. I may hate it when you ramble, but I love the sound of your voice. I hate your stupid puns, but I love them because then you are the only one laughing and your laugh is music to my ears. I hate it when you dance because I want you to only dance with me."
"Aww, that's almost as sweet as these pickles, Austin."
"So do you forgive me?"
"Better. We are friends and partners again." Ally said with a smile.
Austin however wasn't smiling. "Ally, you know I am not good at communicating my feelings. So tell me what I have to do to show you how I really feel about you? I'll do anything you want, just name it."
Ally stared at Austin thinking. Hmm…What's something embarrassing that I could make him do?
Suddenly the moon, which until this point had been hidden by the clouds, came out. It was a full moon. Ally looked up admiring its beauty until Austin said, "What is it you want, Ally? What do you want? You want the moon? Just say the word and I'll throw a lasso around it and pull it down. Hey. That's a pretty good idea. I'll give you the moon, Ally."
She looked at him. He turned back from the moon to her. "Really, Austin?" she said. "Quoting It's A Wonderful Life."
"It's only a wonderful life when I am with you, Ally."
Ally stared at him again, almost as if she can't believe what he just said. Is it possible that he feels the same way that I do about him? After a moment she said, "Would you really do that for me?"
"I'll do it right now. I just need to find a rope long enough to reach and get around the moon." Austin said while climbing down the ladder.
"Austin, I don't want you to. I was just curious. Besides there is a Moon closer that I want."
By this time, Austin was level with her and she started leaning towards him to kiss him, when he grabbed her shoulder. "Ally, we can't do this right now. This will not work out well."
"Well then why did you tell me you liked me?"
"What… oh no…I mean we can't kiss right now. I would most likely fall of this ladder and that would ruin the moment. So I am hoping that you will let me in." Austin said.
Ally laughed at this and moved out of his way so he could climb in. As soon as he was all the way in, Ally kissed him. Austin kissed her back. It was the best kiss either of them had had. Somewhere a clock began to strike twelve.
Ally almost wished that this day would never end.
Almost.
