Rose sighed as she leaned against the backboard of her bed. The play was still on her mind because of how well it went. The cast got a standing ovation on both opening and closing night, but the audience was bigger on closing night. With the audience being larger, it was much more breathtaking to see them standing up and applauding the cast. Once the play was over, the cast and friends went to a diner where they had breakfast for dinner. Rose and Dave ended up splitting their food with Kanaya and Karkat, not only because the two didn't have any money for food, but also because the plates were really large.

But those two days were over. As much as Rose wanted to linger on it, she knew she'd have a DVD of the play in the next month. Ms. Paint ordered DVDs of the productions for the whole cast at no cost. But either way, she would be able to watch it anytime she wanted too.

The main priority now was the Halloween dance. It was the Saturday of the dance, but Rose had gotten up early so she had a lot of time to kill. John had suggested that the four of them go as their god tiers from Sburb, seeing as they had actually reached them about a week back. Of course Dave was all for it, but Jade and Rose agreed to it as long as the costumes were fancier than how they looked in the game. To which John replied, "Duh, that's a given!"

Rose liked the idea, seeing as it was a group thing. She had asked Kanaya if she wanted to go as her god tier, but she said she'd rather go as a vampire. Which wasn't an issue. Rose thought Kanaya would make a good vampire. It seemed to suit her style, seeing as she loved to read novels about vampires.

They all already had their costumes ready, so it was just a matter of time before it began. If the dance is bad like it was last year... I don't even know, Rose thought as she looked at the costume hanging up on her dresser. She couldn't lie, she was kind of excited, but she was just bothered by the fact that the dance was bad last year. Hopefully the new student council changes it all up.

Until it was time for the dance, Rose decided to go see if there was anything on TV. She opened her door, to be greeted by Roxy's voice downstairs. "HEY ROSIE! C'MERE!" She shouted, her words not slurred at all for once.

Rose shut her door and asked "What is it?" as she walked down the stairs. All she saw was Roxy point to the TV. There were photographs of a school that had been destroyed and burned.

"The State police believe that they finally have two suspects who were linked to the bombing and fire of a school in Skaia county a year ago. The case was never released to the public, but in finding a lead, they need to get the message out. If you see these men, contact the police department as soon as possible." A picture of three men came up on the screen who looked very shady just in appearance. The sight of them was quite frightening.

"Oh, wow. I'm surprised they were able to keep it out of the media for this long." Rose said, glancing at Roxy.

"Naah, I knew about it when it happened cause I had classes with the family of some of the kids who were in the fire. Did'ya know that some of them had to transfer to otha schools in our county?" Roxy asked, still looking at the TV screen. She lifted up her martini glass and took a sip out of it.

"Hm. That would make sense... Twelve people had transferred to my school this year from... Alternia high..." Rose said with rising suspicion. Roxy glanced at Rose and nodded.

"Yup, you gots it, Rosie. That's the school alright! I still feel bad for em', it took a HUGE toll on the families.."

"I would assume so," Rose sighed. "But I'd also assume that's why some of the ones who transferred don't have the best relationships." Roxy agreed, saying that a tragedy like that can cause a lot of broken bonds. Which is exactly what Rose had suspected happened between Vriska and Kanaya.

It was silent for a while. Roxy decided to bring up the dance. She asked Rose if she had a date, to which Rose said no. Roxy then went on a VERY long rant about how she should have a date and all of the boys at Skaia should be after her.

"Roxy."

"The nerve of those guys! I can't believe them! You oughta be the most popular girl there– "

"Roxy!"

" –I oughta go down there and tell em off!"

"Oh my god, Roxy!"

"What?! ...Oh, sorry. I went off on a rant again." the older sister apologized. Rose sighed and crossed her arms, scratching the back of her head. "...What's on ya mind, kiddo? C'mere. Even though I'm a lil' bit tipsy, I can still be serious." she patted the couch cushion next to her. The younger sister insisted that it didn't matter, but Roxy could see through her facade with no issues and insisted that she shouldn't bottle things up. After much persuasion, Rose complied.

"Well, Roxy, the thing is. I did have people asking me to be their date left and right– "

"O.M.G. That's great! But why didn't you say yeah?" Roxy interrupted Rose.

Rose paused for a minute. Roxy whispered 'sorry,' and then she continued. " –... Because, first of all, I... Have no attraction to males."

"Oh... OH. So, you're gay?"

"Um. I would assume, yes..." Rose said with a hint of fright in her voice.

"Well there's nothing wrong with that, sis! Why didn'tcha tell me sooner?" Roxy exclaimed. She patted Rose on the back lightly. "I so could've hooked you up with a girl instead of trying to hook you up with a guy! ...But besides that, what's the second part?"

"Er... I kind of think I like this girl. Do you know the Maryam family? Down near where we used to live before mom married Mr. Strider?"

"Ohhh, yeah! I know the older daughter of Ms. Maryam, Porrim! ...Do you like her?"

"Wha– No, I actually don't know Porrim... But Kanaya has talked about her. She seems to be a pretty cool person."

"She really is! I think I met Kanaya once when I went over there. Does she have a pixie cut?" Rose nodded. "Then yeah! She's a sweetie! But omg, Rosie, that's so cute!" Roxy said as she pulled Rose into a tight hug that nearly choked her. She let go after a minute, which was a relief to the younger Lalonde. "But, Rose, you do know her mom is REALLY Christian, right?"

And that struck Rose. She shook her head, sighing. That meant that Kanaya probably really wouldn't like her back, which she had gotten hope from that game of truth or dare. But then again, Kanaya could probably be hiding a lot of things. There was no way of telling. Roxy told her to hope for the best. Then Roxy ended up changing the topic to cats, somehow. Which eventually eased Rose's mind because they used to have silly conversations like that all the time, and recently, they had started too again.

Eventually it got to be six o'clock, and it was time for Rose to change into her costume. She told Roxy she'd be back down in a little bit, and went upstairs to change into her "Seer of Light" outfit. It was a color scheme that was totally different from what Rose usually wore; yellow and orange with blue shoes. Which was kind of weird, but it worked. Somehow.

When she was finished getting dressed and opened the door, she heard a loud THUMP, and then something hit the floor. She looked to see that Dave had ran right into the door. She heard an "ah, shit..." mumbled by him. She closed her door. "Watch where you're going, David, yeesh," she said jokingly. Dave glared at her, then got up. His got tier in game was the Knight of Time. The color scheme was red, mostly, which fit Dave.

The two walked downstairs at the same time, to which Roxy shouted "OMG YOU TWO LOOK TOTES ADORABLE!" Rose smiled and thanked her. She had to jam her elbow into Dave's side to get him to thank her, too. After agreeing to take pictures for Roxy, the two were out the door and headed to pick up the other three.
