"Rose, are we there yet?" John asked from the back of the car. Jade, Dave, and himself were basically trapped in the back seat. "I'm feeling a little cramped back here."

"We'll be there soon, John! It's not that bad!" Jade said, glancing at him. "At least there's not four people back here! Then somebody would be on somebody elses' lap, and it definitely wouldn't be mine." Dave snickered, which caused John to elbow him in the side. In the front seat, Kanaya and Rose sighed simultaneously, which made both of the girls giggle.

After about ten minutes, they got to the building where the dance was being held. Rose was surprised when they walked inside to see that the place was actually decorated to look like a legitimate Halloween party. There were bats hanging from the ceiling, skeleton decorations, black and orange streamers, and there was even a fog machine that was pouring out fog. Luckily they weren't playing any rap music. They had a DJ who REALLY loved Halloween, so she knew just the kind of music to play to set the mood; it was creepy, but at the same time it had a beat you could dance too. All around, people were wearing different costumes; There were aliens, kings, monsters, cryptids, and even some celebrities. John saw someone dressed as Nic Cage from Con Air, which made him actually fangirl.

"Oh, this is awesome!" Jade said as she threw her arms up. "Come on guys, lets dance!" She said as she ran into the crowd. Dave and John chased after her.

"Should... We go after them?" Kanaya asked, looking at Rose.

"Nah, I knew they were gonna do that. We'd lose them in the crowd, anyway." Rose replied. Kanaya nodded. "So, do you actually like to dance?" She asked. Kanaya couldn't see Rose's eyes, but Rose was looked at Kanaya's costume. She was right about a vampire fitting her, and in the lighting of the room, she looked extremely beautiful with her costume on.

"Not really, but I suppose I could make an exception for tonight if you do." Kanaya smiled.

"I'm not much of a fan either. But hey, a vampire and a god do make an interesting dancing pair," Rose replied. "How about we give it a shot?"

"Alright, I'm up for that."

The teens danced for quite some time. It was surprising to Rose that they didn't get stares from the other students, since they probably looked like total dorks dancing. It didn't matter though, really, because she was having fun. From what she could tell, Kanaya was happy too.

When the song changed again, Kanaya asked if they could go sit down for a little bit. Rose agreed, and they went to sit down away from the large crowd of people. When they sat down, Rose remembered what she saw on the news earlier. As anybody else would, she had a huge urge to ask about it. However, she didn't want to be rude.

"Pft, we were dancing as badly as John and Dave?" Kanaya asked, pointing to the two boys outside of the crowd.

"Oh my god, look at those dorks!" Rose laughed. "I bet we didn't look THAT bad. ...Hmm... Should I get a video of Dave to blackmail him? She asked, raising an eyebrow.

It took her a minute to realize that Rose was serious, but when she did, Kanaya started laughing. "If that were my sister, I would," she said with a smile.

Rose pulled out her phone and went to the camcorder app. She started recording Dave dancing. When she was finished, she said "Oh boy, I can't wait to show this to his brother and my sister. They're going to laugh until they can't breathe. Hey, that reminds me, do you know Roxy Lalonde?" to Kanaya.

"Hm... The name sounds familiar. Describe how she looks?" Kanaya asked.

"Well, she has blonde hair that's a little bit darker than mine, and around the bottoms it flares out. Her eyes are a purple color but they look pink, and as for physical traits, she has the same nose and eyebrows as I do. Her jawline is more defined than mine, though."

"Oh, I know who you're talking about! She's Porrim's friend. So she's your sister?" Rose nodded. "That's kinda weird that our sisters know each other." Kanaya said with a giggle.

"Seriously though. It would have been weirder if I had known Porrim and you had known Roxy!" Rose joked. Kanaya laughed, nodding in response.

The girls sat there for quite some time, talking about nonsensical things, themselves goofing off in Sburb, books, and other things. All the while Rose took every chance she could get to admire Kanayas' beauty. At one point she caught herself staring at Kanaya and not responding, to which she apologized for spacing out. That had to have been the most embarrassing thing that happened to Rose in quite a while.

"Hey... Kanaya, can I ask you a question? Besides that one, obviously." Rose said, looking at Kanaya, who nodded in response. "...D..do you want to confuse the hell out of some people when they have the stereotypical slow dance going on and dance together?" Rose said. But that made her mentally slap herself in the face. That was NOT what I meant to say. Totally the opposite. Yep. I guess I'll just leave the Alternia thing alone for now. She felt really embarrassed about that, and she knew her face was probably red by now. But she hoped it wasn't noticeable. To her surprise, however, Kanaya agreed to do it. With a bit of hesitation, at first, and that was obvious.

They did, anyway. Now that got some heads to turn, for sure. Even John and Dave looked surprised. But Jade didn't. It seemed like Jade could predict when anything was going to happen, which was really weird anyway. Rose, however, didn't really care if some heads turned. She felt a mix of emotions, all the way from heartache to bliss, and she loved it. She looked up at Kanaya, who she saw was looking down at her, which caused both of them to look away as fast as they could and act like they didn't notice. Really, Rose knew that Kanaya noticed, and she hoped that the taller girl felt the exact spectrum of emotions that she felt at the moment.

The dance had ended, and Rose had dropped Jade and John off at their houses. Kanaya lived closer, so it was obvious that Rose would drop her off last. When they got to Kanaya's house, she and Rose hugged goodbye. The blonde girl definitely didn't want to let go, especially when she noticed that Kanaya lingered onto the hug for another few seconds after Rose had let go. Dave got out of the back seat and took his place in the front passenger seat. All he mentioned was how hungry he was and that he couldn't wait to get home to fix some burritos and apple juice. Which was a terribly odd combination that Rose didn't want to try anytime soon.

Rose decided that when they got home, she was going to eat something and then talk to Roxy if she was awake. She knew Roxy would love hearing about her dancing with Kanaya. Probably fangirl to no end about it, at that. Then, Rose planned on going to sleep. It was obvious that she was tired. Today had been a good day, and she didn't plan on having it ruined by anything at the very end. Since she had lived with Roxy all her life, she knew her sister wouldn't ruin it.
