A/N: YOOOOOOOO I'M BACK AND READY TO WRITE. Though this isn't the most productive chapter, I've left you guys hanging too long, so something is better than nothing! But the reason I've been gone for so long... 1. My internet has been shit for the past few months and I can only post from my laptop, and 2. High school. Senior year. School play, and other boring school shiz. BUT YEAH I'M BACK SO LETS DO DIS
I fucked up, I fucked up, I fucked up, I fucked up, were the only words that ran through Kanayas mind after she told Rose that her crush was, well, indeed her. Rose had just kind of stared at her, not saying anything. This caused Kanaya to have what felt like a panic attack, but it was really just the fear of being rejected once more. For whatever reason, she found it difficult to deal with rejection right off the bat, and it made her nervous. Please say something, she thought.
"Oh.." Rose finally said. "Well... I, uh..."
"Yes?" Kanaya blurted out- A little bit too fast, which caused her cheeks to turn even redder than they were.
"I have good news for you, in that case."
…
"Karkat!" Kanaya shouted as she ran up to him at school. "KARKAT!"
"Kanaya, what the actual shit is going on? You're acting like you did that one time when Gamzee-"
"OKAY! We don't talk about that, remember?" she glared at Karkat. "Anyway, I have big news! Take a guess!"
"Hmm... Okay, you got that new sewing machine you've been wanting for a few months?" He asked.
"Nope! ...But that would be nice."
"Youuuuu... Oh! You finally beat that one boss in Sburb?"
"No. It's way more important than that."
"Holy shit, what is it then?"
She looked at him and smiled, reaching into her shirt and pulling out a necklace. It was one that Rose frequently wore, and he recognized it right away. Karkat looked at her, raising an eyebrow in a perplexed manner. "I did the thing!" Kanaya said proudly.
"...You did the... what... Oh, wait, that thing?!"
"Yes! And, well, obviously a good thing came out of it!"
"Holy shit, finally. You've been obsessing over her for a long time, Kan."
"She's been obsessing over me too."
"...That's fucking adorable."
They didn't notice, but Rose had crept up behind her. She poked both of Kanayas sides, causing her to jump and squeak. "May I ask what's adorable?" she said, grinning. Karkat started to laugh at the noise Kanaya made, to which she poked his side as well, mocking his laugh.
"How long have you been standing there?" Kanaya asked, turning towards Rose.
"Ever since you told him about the thing."
"...I got excited, what can I say?" Karkat stared at the two as they hugged.
"Holy shit you two are adorable," He said, acting like how Nepeta would when she found out. Only he was a bit more calm than how she would be. He pulled out his phone and went to obviously take a picture of them. "'Excuse me while I casually take a picture and be the stereotypical nosy fanboy friend."
"Don't you mean fangirl?" Kanaya grinned as she stuck her tongue out at him.
"Okay, now listen here you little shit..." He said, putting his phone up. He glared at her and crossed his arms.
"Oh, but Karkat, aren't you the little shit? I mean, you're short enough for it..." Rose laughed.
"Hey! I've grown two inches over the past few weeks, thank you very fucking much." He said in a sassy voice.
The bell rang to go to class after a few minutes of Karkat growling at the two for making fun of his height, even though he knew they were joking. He headed off to class, while the two girls lingered behind. It was kind of awkward between them, but the good kind. The kind that was first relationship in a few years awkward. Obviously, because they had just started dating. Which almost every one of their friends would be excited to hear about. Especially Nepeta and Jade. But, Vriska wouldn't be very happy. Did that matter? To the girls, no.
The girls walked to class, chatting about how much of a nerd Karkat was. Everyone in the hall stopped and stared at them, as they seemed so much happier than they usually were when they would walk down the hallways together. More people stared after they started to hold hands. Even though they were visibly awkward, it was a happy awkward. However that made sense. Despite that, Kanaya was flustered at the thought of Rose holding her hand, so she was messing up her words and stuttering, which Rose found too cute to deal with.
"You're a dork." Rose said with a smile.
"Oh yeah? Well... You're even more of a dork." Kanaya mocked. She stuck her tongue out.
"How about we be dorks together?" Rose asked.
"Sounds like a done deal." Kanaya laughed.
