A/N: Okay, so there's a little foreshadowing in here, but I won't tell you what for. It may be for this fic, it may not be, only time will tell.
And also, this fanfic is coming to an end quite soon, so be prepared!

"Kanaya! Kanaya, are you okay?" Rose said as she shook Kanaya out of her sleep. She opened her eyes, breathing heavily as if she saw death himself for the second time. "You were thrashing in your sleep. Are you okay?"

She opened her mouth to speak, but then her eyes started to well up with tears. It was so hard to keep herself together when she had dreams about the incident at Alternia High. It was so frightening to remember that she could have died, and that her best friends could have died. Her voice cracked as she broke out crying. It really wasn't like her to cry like that, but the memories were a living nightmare. She couldn't forget, and she wouldn't.

Rose pulled Kanaya close to her, and when she did, Kanaya collapsed like she did the night she told Rose about what happened at Alternia. It hurt Rose, and she often worried about her girlfriend, seeing as this didn't happen often. It was hard for Kanaya to talk, and Rose knew that. So, she just let her cry as she held her. "It's okay," she whispered. "Your mind just has a tendency to hold onto things longer than you want it too." She ran her fingers through Kanayas short, brown hair to try and calm her down, even just a little bit. It would usually help when she was stressed out.

It did help, after a little bit. She had stopped crying. She pulled away to wipe her face off, and she noticed that Rose was doing the same. "Rose, were you crying too?"

"Yeah... I just hate seeing you break down. It's painful..." she replied, wiping her eyes with her sleeves.

"Oh, I'm sorry... I won't—"

"Kan, if you don't cry with someone, then you'll be crying by yourself for hours," she put a hand on Kanaya's cheek and smiled. "and I'd rather be miserable with you than know you're being miserable all alone."

"You're absolutely crazy, Miss Lalonde," Kanaya grinned. She stared for about five seconds before she took Rose's hand and spoke. "But oh, so very lovely at the same time."

"I could say the same about you." Rose whispered as she stole a kiss. "Now, either we go back to sleep, watch some lame yet nostalgic movies, or read horrible fanfics. Your choice."

"I think I'll go for the movies."

"Oh my god, DIRK! What did you DO?!" Dave yelled from the hallway in the morning, waking Rose and Kanaya up.

"I simply threw your beloved sword out of the window. It seems like it broke in half. That's what you get for buying shitty-ass swords!" Dirk yelled back.

"You piece of shit! I'm gonna kick your ass! Just you wait until I get a hold of your precious tablet that you use to draw that gay porn with."

"Oh HELL no, you are NOT touching- Wait, I do NOT draw gay porn!"

"Oh please, Dirk, you can't hide those files worth a shit."

"Will both of you SHUT UP, god damn, I swear Rosie and I are in a house full of idiots!" Roxy shouted from the bathroom after the sound of running water shut off. "Fucking lunatics..."

Rose started laughing. Kanaya raised an eyebrow. "Before you ask, yes, this is a typical morning in the Strilonde residence," Rose said. "The only difference is that you're here today and they have no idea."

"Do you and Roxy have a sibling rivalry like those two do?" Kanaya asked.

"Actually, no. What we do is that sometimes, we gang up against the other two. Then, we blackmail them so they can't get us back for it. It's pretty fucked up, but it's really interesting." Rose laughed. Kanaya giggled with her.

"I'll say. Karkat and I kind of do the same thing to his brother. Only, Porrim gets in on it with us, so it's three against one."

"Oh my god, that's terrible but hilarious at the same time!"

Rose sighed and leaned against Kanaya. From under the blanket, they held hands. It felt pretty nice to wake up next to each other. Well, even if it wasn't a very pleasant awakening, thanks to the Strider brothers. Either way, things were nice.

Then, Kanaya felt something wet touch her cheek. She looked at Rose to see that for literally no reason besides to be weird, Rose had licked her cheek. "Ew, Rose, that's gross!" she laughed.

"Well, you laughed, so it must still be funny! That was my intention all along." Rose said as she poked Kanaya's side, causing her to squeak.

"Now listen here, you little shit," Kanaya said as she poked Rose's sides back. "If you're intending to start a poke war, then you've succeeded."

"Nah, my intention was to start a tickle war. But..." Rose paused. She looked Kanaya dead in the eye. "That's succeeded too." She said as she started to tickle her girlfriends sides, causing her to bust out laughing.

"Rose, no! That's not cool!" Kan said though her laughter. "You suck!"

"Oh, my, is that the sound of defeat? It looks like I win this war." Rose said with a smug look on her face.

"Over my dead body!" Kanaya laughed as she turned the tables on Rose, moving her hands to her neck and starting to tickle her back, which caused Rose to start laughing as well.

"Oh nooo, my ultimate weakness!" Rose said as she collapsed backwards onto the bed. "Okay, you got me! You got me!"

"Okay, so since I obviously win, you owe me... A date to the movies."

"Normally I would disagree and say I don't owe you anything, but a date to the movies sounds very nice. But we are NOT seeing that remake of Twilight."

"Yes, I know that! I'd prefer to see that new movie, Technicolor. It seems really interesting."

"Okay, works for me!"

It was later in the day, and the girls decided that since they had nothing to do at Rose's house, they'd go see the movie that day instead of waiting for the weekend. Waiting was never fun, and plus, Kanaya was really excited to see it. Rose thought her enthusiasm was cute, so she was tempted to make her wait until the weekend, but she was curious about the movie herself.

Since the prices for popcorn, drinks, and candy were all too much at the theater, they hid their own candy in Rose's purse. They never checked for it, anyway, so it wasn't a big deal. They had a Sprite and some skittles to share, since skittles were Kanaya's favorite candy.

After buying two tickets and having about five people ask why they weren't in school, they made their way into the theater and claimed two great seats. It was cold in the theater, so Kanaya put her jacket hood up and rolled her sleeves down. Rose took out her phone and took a selfie with Kanaya since the movie hadn't started yet. She laughed at the face Kanaya was making in it.

"That's Instagram worthy." Rose said, looking at Kanaya.

"Oh god. Rose, you and your Instagram." Kanaya laughed.

"What?! It's for pictures only, and you can actual control whose posts you see. Unlike on Facebook where you see your friends moms uncles posts."

"Well... I can't really argue with that, I suppose!"

Eventually, the movie started. Kanaya got excited and pretty much made Rose put her phone up. Rose complied, even though she was in the middle of reading a fanfiction. Obviously not shitty ones about wizards. Nah, not at all. She turned her focus too the screen, where trailers were being shown for new movies coming out soon. Those movies consisted of "Fashion Merchandising," which Kanaya got interested in, "The Zoologically Dubious," which made Rose perk up very fast, and "Space Lesbians," to which someone in the audience went "Ew, that's disgusting." Rose simply responded saying "So is homophobia, di-" but before she could throw some foul language around, Kanaya hushed her by kissing her. That usually worked. Rose sighed a bit, but turned her focus towards the screen.

Eventually, the movie started. Kanaya was very into the movie. So into it, that when she attempted to eat some skittles, she totally missed her mouth. Rose tried to not laugh at her when she did that. Instead, she distracted herself with the movie.

It had an interesting plot. A girl who was born with the gift of seeing "heart auras," as she called them, but she was colorblind. It eventually turned into somewhat of a love plot, which was when Rose got more interested in it since she already was. She was a sucker for love stories, and so was Kanaya. Now of course, Kanaya was sort of bummed about how the movie makers changed the girls love interest to a boy. The original character in the book was a girl as well, but because they just wanted money and people to not turn away because of the movie having a lesbian couple, they just changed it entirely. Despite that major flaw, Kanaya still thoroughly enjoyed it. It was surprisingly accurate to the book. Minus the lesbians.

At the end of the movie, the girls went outside of the theater building. They both had to stop because they were blinded by the sudden brightness of the sun.

"Well, Kan, you chose a very good movie for us to go see." Rose said.

"Oh, did you like it?"

"Like it? I loved it! But hey, how about we go get some lunch now?"

"Sounds good to me, I'm starving."

The two girls got into Rose's car and decided to go to a local pizza place. They took a seat in a booth and decided to get a large pizza; Half cheese for Kanaya, and half pepperoni and sausage for Rose. Rose figured that if there was some left, they'd take it home and leave it for Roxy and the boys for later.

"So, which movie should we go see next?" Kanaya asked. "Now it's your turn to pick."

"Hmm... I dunno, man, I really liked the trailer for the Space Lesbians one." Rose laughed.

"Hey, it looked interesting at least. And the best movies are always the ones that piss people off."

"I'll say. So, either that or-" Rose stopped. She looked past Kanaya's head to see a woman in a business suit. She almost looked exactly like Kanaya, and the worst conclusion came to Rose's mind. "...Oh shit." She lowered her voice to a whisper. "Is that your mom?" Kanaya turned her head to look. Then, she turned her head back with wide eyes and nodded. "Oh no."

Kanaya put her hood up again, hoping to at least cover her hair. She then took a book out of Rose's purse and buried her face in it, like she was actually reading. Rose saw that her mom was walking towards her and acted normal.

"Oh, hello, Rose. Shouldn't you be in school?" Kanaya's mom asked. They had been acquainted with each other when Rose had asked if Kanaya could go with her, Karkat, Dave, and Jade on a camping trip.

"Well, I would be, but I had a doctors appointment. I just got out of it, so I decided to come eat before I headed back home. And I just so happened to see my friend, here, so I decided to come sit with him." She only said him since the jacket Kanaya was wearing was baggy, and you couldn't tell that she was actually a girl.

"I see. Well, he seems very into that book..."

"Yeah! He gets quiet when he reads, so he probably won't take his eyes away until the food gets here. So anyway, why are you here, Ms. Maryam?"

"I'm just on my lunch break, so I'm picking up a small pizza to take back to the office. I wasn't in the mood for the terrible sandwiches at the sandwich shop next to the office. Well, anyway, I should go wait for the pizza. You have a nice day, Rose."

"You too," Rose said. She let out a sigh as she watched Ms. Maryam walk away. "Okay, you're good. But leave your hood on until she leaves.

Kanaya sighed and put the book down. "Holy shit, I think I just had a heart attack." Rose nodded in agreement. "Keep a look out and tell me if she's headed back this way, okay?"

"Will do, don't worry."

After about 10 minutes, she left. Then, Rose and Kanaya's pizza came to their table. Rose thanked the waitress and took a slice of the side with the meat, while Kanaya took a slice of the side with just cheese. The two giggled and joked about what would have happened if Kans mom had caught her. Kanaya felt her phone buzz in her pocket, so she reached to pull it out with her hand that was free of grease from the pizza. She looked to see who the message was from, and it turns out it was her mother. The text said, "I hope you're enjoying your pizza with Rose, Kanaya. We're having a chat when you get home."

"...Oh god." Kanaya uttered. She turned around and saw another waitress looking at her, and she realized that it was one of her moms friends. To spite her, and to kind of spite her mom even though she wasn't there, she leaned over the table and kissed Rose. She saw the waitress quickly leave and take out her phone once more. "...Welp. We have an issue." Kanaya said as she looked at her phone again.

"What makes you say that?" Rose asked.

"That one waitress is my moms friend. She ratted on me, so my mom knows that I was the one hiding behind the book. And now... She's gonna know we're dating."

"Well, shit... I'm sorry, Kanaya. I should have just ordered something to go and we could have gone back to the house."

"Oh, no, it's not your fault! It's her fault," she said, pointing over her shoulder. "I've had fun today, and this won't change that. I'm just not looking forward to the little 'chat' that she and I are having." she rolled her eyes. Her phone went off again. Only this time, about five times, one after the other. "And there it is..." She said with a sigh. She simply turned her phone off and slipped it back into her pocket.

Rose smiled. "It would seem as if I've corrupted you in a way."

"Indeed you have," Kanaya laughed as she took a bite of the pizza. "But, in a good way? Or a bad way? I guess we won't know."
