It was a rainy day in the city that Rose lived in. It was pretty normal for it to rain, but today you would think it was a hurricane. She worried about Kanaya, who had gone out to buy a few groceries that they were lacking. Kanaya lived with Rose now, and had been for five years since their reunion at the coffee shop around the street corner.

"Hm... I wonder what Jade has been up too," Rose murmured to herself as she looked at the screen of her laptop. The last she heard from Jade was about a year ago, when she had called Rose to tell her about her trip to India and how Rose would have loved some of the food there. "Come to think of it, I haven't talked to her or John in quite some time."

Knowing that John and Jade were the type to use Facebook, she figured she'd log back in for the first time since High School fifteen years ago. It was amazing how much time had passed, and she wondered how everyone else was doing. By everyone else, she meant those from the Alternia incident who she had befriended over that year. Karkat, Tavros, Nepeta, Gamzee, and hell, even Vriska. Even if Kanaya had cut ties with Vriska a long time ago, she was still curious.

While she logged into Facebook, she came across the issue of a certain invalid password. Of course. Always the invalid password, she thought. She sighed as she tried to remember what it could have been. Her cell phone on the arm-rest of the couch started to vibrate. She picked it up, and seeing that Kanaya was calling, she answered.

"Hey, bae, are you okay? The storm is crazy outside!" Rose exclaimed, holding the phone up to her ear with her shoulder as she typed in another password she had previously used. She sighed when it came up as invalid again.

"Yes, I'm fine. I'm waiting at the store to see if the storm calms down a little bit," Kanaya responded. "If it doesn't within an hour, I'll probably come back home."

"Okay, well, definitely be careful if it doesn't calm down out there. I don't want you getting hurt by slipping and falling," Rose laughed. "Like that one time when you dropped that fruit concoction of yours on the kitchen floor and slipped."

"Hey, I was in a panic when that happened! Plus you came into the kitchen and fell, too, so you can't say anything," Kanaya joked. "Well, hey, I'm going to get back to shopping, so I'll call you when I'm about to head out."

"Alright! Be careful! I love you, Kan."

"Don't worry, I will. I love you too, Rose."

Rose took her phone and ended the call, placing it back down on the arm rest. She tried one final attempt to enter a password, this time using one that had Kanaya mentioned in it. It actually worked. Letting out a sigh of relief, she looked at the screen to see over fifty notifications, twenty messages, and fifteen friend requests. Holy shit, seriously? she thought.

The notifications were mainly just comments on old pictures and people tagging her in old photos from middle and high school. She laughed at some and cringed at others. Especially her old profile picture. The makeup was just caked on her face and her hair was badly cut. She decided to post a new one in a little while, after she checked out all of her old friends profiles.

She had gotten a lot of friend requests from recent work colleagues, which she accepted most of them. Some of them, she just got rid of. The messages were boring group chats that she left so she wouldn't have to deal with them. Nothing really interesting, except a message from Dave, telling her she was a nerd. That was it, though. She responded saying "Perhaps, but I'm the better looking nerd out of the two of us."

She kept up with Dave, Roxy, and Dirk, mostly since they were family members. Dave still worked in the book store music department with Roxy, only now he was a barista and Roxy was a manager. As far as she knew, Dirk owned his own custom-made sword shop now, where he made all of the swords himself. That was always pretty cool. She had gotten several pocket knives from him in the mail that were designed to match her style, and a recent one for Kanaya. Kanaya wasn't too fond, but she appreciated the thought.

Rose searched John's profile. She clicked on his name, and looked to see what had changed in his life. "Ooh, so he's a game developer now?" she said upon seeing where he worked. It was for the same company that developed Sburb, so that was really neat. It said he was in a relationship... With Vriska. However that happened, she had no clue. She clicked on Vriska's name to see what she was up to.

The page loaded and she clicked on the "about" section of her profile. She was surprised to see that Vriska was actually a welder. She, apparently, did odd repair jobs for people that hired her to weld machinery and other things. On her profile, it said she was engaged to John. Rose came to the conclusion that if John was about to marry someone like Vriska, she had probably changed a lot since the last time Rose heard from her. Which was good, because that meant that John wouldn't be in a toxic relationship with her. "Okay, enough of that," Rose said as she searched Jade's profile.

As the page loaded, she saw that Jade's profile picture was of her riding an elephant. "That's so cool, oh my god," Rose whispered to herself. On the profile, there were a lot of pictures of Jade with various animals. She discovered that Jade was a zookeeper now, and she actually worked at a zoo that was just a few hours away from where she lived. She knew she'd have to go see her sometime and check out the zoo with Kanaya.

Rose determined that she wanted to listen to the rain, so she moved to sit on the little ledge that the window was behind inside of her apartment. There was an outlet next to it that she plugged her laptop charger into. When Rose plugged the charger into her laptop, the screen got about twenty times brighter and blinded her for a minute. She blinked a few times before her sight returned to normal. She leaned against the window, which was cold against her back. It felt nice compared to the room, which was warmer than Rose usually liked. She knew Kanaya would be freezing when she got back home, though, so she made an exception.

While pondering who to search next, Rose saw Nepetas' name show up on Jades' timeline. Without reading the post, she clicked on Nepetas profile. Her profile picture was actually a picture of Jade and herself with the penguins in the zoo that Jade worked in. Their hands were positioned to where it looked like they were poking a penguin that was looking straight at the camera. Rose laughed at the picture, then clicked the about section of her profile. She was surprised to see that Nepeta worked at the same zoo as Jade. Rose scrolled down, only to see that Nepeta was in a relationship with Jade. She made a weird noise that probably shouldn't come from a human. That confused her more than when she saw that John and Vriska were engaged!

Clicking Nepetas profile, she scrolled down and saw the post that said "Nepeta Leijon is in a relationship with Jade Harley." The date was from two months ago, which is probably why Rose hadn't heard about it until now. It still struck her, though, since she didn't expect it at all.

Above that post was something shared to Nepetas wall by Equius. It seemed like the two were still best friends after all this time, so she decided to see what he was up too. Clicking on his profile, it looked like he was a robotics engineer. He helped to create robots, which wasn't surprising to Rose. It looked like he got to travel a lot as well, and it seemed like wherever he went, horse riding was always a thing. It was actually pretty neat to see what was going on with all of her old friends.

Rose sighed and looked at her phone. Only twenty minutes had passed. She turned the screen on to see that Kanaya had texted her. "Still held up at the store. Do you need anything else while I'm here?" it read. Rose pondered on the subject for a minute, but decided that she didn't. "No, I'm okay. Thank you though, babe." she typed, sending the text when it finished. As she put her phone down, she heard a knock at her door.

Standing up, she put the laptop down on the ledge where she had been sitting. She unlocked the door and opened it, to see Eridan. "Hi, Rose," he said. Rose raised an eyebrow, but said hello back to him. "Do you have some flour that I can borrow? I want to try and bake a cake for Fef for our anniversary."

"Oh, sure. Here, I'll get it for you real quick," said Rose. She walked to the kitchen and got a small bag of flour. She sealed it with a chip bag clip as she made her way back to the door. "You can have the rest of it. I'll tell Kan we need some more."

"Thanks, Rose! But speaking of Kan, where is she?" Eridan asked, peeking inside.

"She went to get some groceries. She's waiting at the store for the storm to calm down a bit before she comes back home."

"Oh, I see. Well tell her I said hello when she gets back. And thanks again for the flour! I'll let you know how the cake turns out."

"I think I'll know how it turns out if I smell smoke or not," Rose laughed. Eridan glared at her before huffing and walking off.

Rose shut the door and locked it behind her. Eridan had recently published a book of his own. It wasn't a best seller quite yet, but Rose thought it had the potential. Speaking of Eridan, he and Feferi had also recently gotten married. It seemed to be going well, after they had been in an on-off relationship since High School. She hoped that it went well for the two of them.

Feferi worked at local aquarium, and Eridan went to help her quite often. Rose actually followed their YouTube channel, where they posted videos of the fish and marine animals that Feferi helped rescue and nurse back to health. Eridan often got sidetracked by the cute seahorses, but that wasn't really a big deal, seeing as they were adorable.

Walking back to her laptop, Rose decided to see what Tavros and Gamzee were up too now. She searched Tavros' profile, to see that they had a shared YouTube channel for music covers and original music. That was unexpected, but cool, nonetheless. She opened up their channel, and clicked a video where they covered Riptide by Vance Joy. In the video, the two were being really lovey-dovey with each other. Gamzee was playing his ukulele, Tavros was playing a tambourine, and the two of them were singing together. Rose thought it was adorable. She also noticed that Tavros had new prosthetic legs, which was absolutely awesome. When she went to subscribe, she saw that they had over 500,000 subscribers. People apparently liked music covers a lot.

Upon seeing Gamzee, she wondered how he and Karkat were. She closed the lovebirds YouTube channel, and searched Karkat on Facebook. His profile picture was of Terezi and himself in a super artsy pose. The two had been married for eight years, which Rose had already known, but what she didn't know was that they had a two year old child. Karkat had a video on his timeline, posted about two days ago, of his "uncle" Gamzee playing a song with his ukulele for their child. Rose figured that Gamzee and Karkat were still really good friends.

She clicked on Karkats "about" section, to see that he ran his own business from home where he made custom scarves and other accessories for people. Rose decided to keep that in mind. She just had to get him to make one for Kanaya sometime. When she clicked on Terezi's profile, Rose discovered that Terezi was actually an Elementary school teacher, despite her being legally blind. She had pictures of her and her classes through the few years she had been teaching in an album.

It hit Rose that she hadn't texted Kanaya to get a new bag of flour. Picking up her phone, she nearly dropped it in her rush to text her. "Hey boo, we need a new bag of flour. Eridan needed some, so I gave him the last of what we had. Love you!" she sent to Kanaya. She knew Kanaya couldn't be mad at her, since she was already at the store and hadn't left yet. She put her phone down and went back to her quest of halfway stalking her old friends.

She saw that the only two that she hadn't looked up were Sollux and Aradia. Rose wondered if they were still together. They were always a cute couple, she thought as she looked up Sollux's profile. His profile picture was of a little girl and himself. The little girl looked a lot like Aradia, but she had Sollux's heterochromia, where one eye was blue and the other was brown. When she clicked on the "about" section, she saw that he was married to Aradia like she expected. She clicked back to his profile and scrolled down to discover that Aradia had been in the hospital after a bad car crash. They didn't have the money to pay for the hospital bills, and Sollux had been asking for donations recently. Rose, immediately, clicked the donation button. She saw how much money the hospital bills were, and was disgusted at how much they charged the family, which totaled around $5,500. They had received a total of $1,000. Rose, who was making a ton of money off of her books, decided to donate the rest anonymously. Plus about $3,000 more, seeing as Sollux said they weren't doing very well money-wise. She entered in all of her information necessary, knowing it was a trustworthy donation website since she had donated too it multiple times before, and clicked donate after entering the amount she wanted to donate. She let out a sigh, knowing she had helped them out a lot.

Rose sighed as she stared at the laptop screen. She immediately started to worry about Kanaya, since the storm hadn't lightened up much. She texted her asking if she was okay. She got a reply not even a minute later, saying "Yes, I'm fine, love. Don't worry. The storm is calming down here, so it should calm down at home soon. I love you, boo." Rose smiled as she let out a sigh of relief. She replied with "I love you more."

Unplugging her laptop, Rose moved to sit on the couch again. She turned the TV on and changed the channel to Food Network. There usually wasn't anything interesting on except for on that channel. Cutthroat Kitchen was on, which was a show where the competitors can gamble with the money they're given to sabotage the other competitors to try and eliminate them from the competition. It was a pretty great show, and the sabotages could be quite hilarious.

While she listened to the sound from the TV, she went to her own Facebook profile and updated all of her information. Where she went to college, where she lived, her job, the books she'd published, and her relationship status to "In a relationship with Kanaya Maryam." She scrolled through the pictures on her laptop, and found a recent one of her and Kanaya. Pulling her browser back up, she uploaded the picture and cropped it to an appropriate size for the profile picture. The picture was of Kanaya kissing Roses' cheek as she grinned at the camera. For her cover picture, she made it a picture of the bookshelves in their bedroom.

"Looks good to me," Rose said as she shut her laptop. "That's enough internet for today." She looked out of the window to see that the rain had calmed down quite a bit. She got a call from Kanaya, saying that she was on her way home now with the groceries. Rose told her girlfriend to be careful on her way back, and that she'd have the door unlocked for her. As she spoke to her, she went and unlocked the door so she wouldn't forget. The two said "See you soon" at the exact same time, then hung up. Rose laid down on the couch, watching the remainder of Cutthroat Kitchen.

When Kanaya got back to the apartment, she nearly fell through the door while she was carrying all of the groceries. Rose quickly rushed to help her by taking half of the groceries. She started to put the groceries up while Kanaya went to grab the rest of them. Rose put away the refrigerated and frozen things first, stacking everything neatly in the freezer and fridge. She had a habit of making sure things were neat and symmetrical.

Kanaya came in with the last of the groceries. She put them down on the kitchen counter, then started to help Rose put the remaining food away in the pantry. "I'm glad that storm finally calmed down," Kanaya said.

"Me too," replied Rose. "I missed you too much to bear it any longer." She leaned over and kissed Kanaya on the cheek, which made Kanaya smile. "Here, hand me those last few cans," she said, holding out her hand. Kanaya handed her the canned soup, and put it on the third shelf in their pantry.

The two of them finished putting up the groceries pretty quickly. While Kanaya balled up the remaining plastic bags, Rose hugged her. Kanaya tossed the plastic bags into the garbage can, then hugged her back. "Hey, I think I forgot something in the car, so I'm going to go get it real quick, okay?" said Kanaya. Rose pulled away from her and nodded, wondering what she could have possibly forgotten, seeing as Kanaya never forgets anything.

While Kanaya was retrieving the forgotten items, Rose sat on the couch again. She leaned back against the couch, putting her arm on the arm-rest after putting her phone on the coffee table in front of the couch. She heard Kanaya enter again. Kanaya locked the door. Rose heard Kanaya walk behind the couch.

"Rose," Kanaya said, leaning her head over Roses. Rose looked up at her and raised an eyebrow. Kanaya pulled out a single violet, and handed it to her. Rose sat up and turned towards her. "Lesbians in the 1910's - 1950's would give violets to their lovers... Plus, a rose would be to cliché." She smiled.

"Kanaya. You are way too sweet," Rose smiled. "Come sit with me. I've missed you all day." she said. Kanaya took off her shoes and left them by the door, then she put her jacket up on their coat rack. She then went and sat next to Rose on the couch. "Thank you," said Rose, leaning on Kanaya.

"You're welcome," replied Kanaya, wrapping her arms around Rose. "I love you, Rose."

"You're such a nerd," Rose laughed, turning her head. She kissed Kanaya, then said "I love you too."
