A/N: ALRIGHT. So when I abandon something, I really abandon it. Life and all that good stuff got in the way, but I recently got back into watching FNL, so I was brought back to this story. Hopefully some of you are still with me!
MONDAY
Sunday went by unusually fast and then it was time for school again. The entire student body was amped up for the qualifying game on Friday and I was just ready to get it over with. (Not just because I have a date with Tim Riggins afterwards, I swear!)
On the drive to school, Jesse insisted that I not tell him anything that happened between Tim and I for fear of being scarred for life. He earned a good punch to the arm for that crack.
"OW! Seriously, I just don't know what's gotten into you," He mocked, feigning injury. "I'm not even sure I'll be able to play on Friday after that hit!" I glared at him, crossing my arms with a huff.
"I hope you can't," I grumbled, turning away from him and glaring out the window as we pulled up to the school.
Jesse laughed loudly as he parked the truck. His laughter only increased when I slammed the door loudly as I got out. I stalked away quickly, doing my best to keep my glare intact until I was out of site.
"Well what's eatin' at you?" I turned my glare on Tim, who recoiled slightly, raising an eyebrow. "Alright, well I know I didn't do anything, so could you stop lookin' at me like that?"
I sighed and leaned against the wall next to him. "Sorry. Jesse just…he just likes to get on my nerves is all! He's the most…the most…ugh!" Tim looked startled by my outburst, as did several people walking by.
"Alright," he drawled slowly, grabbing my hand and guiding me away from the parking lot. "Before you decide to murder your brother, why don't you just tell me what he did?" He sat us down on a secluded bench, grabbing my bag and placing it on the ground next to his stuff.
"He didn't do anything." I sighed, flicking my hair out of my eyes. "I'm just freaked I guess. He doesn't know about Friday night, and I keep feeling like I'm going to accidentally just tell him cause I tell Jesse everything and then he's gonna try to beat you up or intimidate you or something and I just don't want to deal with that and are you still in love with Lyla?"
The question just burst out of me, shocking me just as much as it seemed to shock Tim. His brow furrowed deeply and his nostrils flared just slightly as he exhaled. "I'm sorry, what?"
"I just…" I didn't know what to say, but I knew I needed to say something. "Lyla told me about you two and…I just guess I want to know? Like, where you stand…with her." Tim continued to just look at me. Suddenly, he stood up, jolting me slightly with his erratic movement.
I watched Tim pace for a moment before he kneeled down in front of me. "Ok, what happened between me and Lyla was…a whole lot of mistake. We hurt a lot of people and did a lot of stupid shit," He paused, looking down at his hands hanging between his legs. "And part of me will probably always have feelings for her."
This was definitely not the place for this conversation, There were still people lingering outside the school, but I knew that the first bell would be ringing soon. "Can we go somewhere?" Tim looked up at me, eyebrows raised. "Anywhere but here?"
Tim drove us back to the cliff we'd parked at on Friday night. This time, I wasn't planning on sleeping. Tim turned the truck off and jumped out, opening the bed and sitting on it. I sat slightly away from him, trying to make sure we both had our space for this.
"You know, normally I come up here to hit beer cans off that cliff," He said, breaking the silence. I laughed and shook my head. He smiled over at me slightly. "I sure could make those cans fly."
I smiled at him. "Tim, I'm sorry for the way I asked about Lyla. I don't...I'm not sure what I was thinking." He just nodded and continued to stare out into the open space. "And I get it. That she'll always be there, in some way. I'm not sure how I feel about it, but I get it." Tim remained silent, but his gaze focused on me. We stared at each other for a moment before drifting closer together.
Tim leaned his shoulder on mine, still keeping my gaze. "Miss Belle. There is just something about you." I laughed quietly as he moved in further, kissing me slowly and deeply. Our mouths melded together as we lie back in the truck bed, enjoying the sunshine and each other.
Tim and I spent the majority of the day making out in the back of his truck before my phone ringing broke us apart. I grabbed it quickly out of my bag just as it stopped. "Wow. I have like 20 texts from Julie." Tim just laid out, making his shirt rise up, showing off his toned and tanned stomach. "Get up Riggins, or you're gonna be late for practice." He remained motionless for a moment, then grunted his displeasure and got up, getting in the truck and turning the key.
"Sorry I'm a little late," I rushed out to Miss Durr, hurrying to get into formation for practice. She barely acknowledged me as I started stretching.
"Where were you today Belle?" Lyla asked. "You weren't at the lunch table and Julie said she didn't see you in class this morning." I could tell that Lyla was just trying to stir up some trouble, but I wasn't going to bite.
"Oh, I just had a few things I had to do." I touched my toes, sneaking a glance over at Tim on the field, running suicides next to my brother.
Lyla sighed and bent over to touch her toes as well. "I bet you did." That caught my attention and I turned my gaze on her as I reached my hands to the sky, but I kept my mouth shut. Lyla Garrity was not going to get to me like that.
Football practice ended later than usual that day, so I was sitting against the wall and reading Jane Austen when Tim emerged from the locker room. He cleared his throat as he sat down beside me. "So..."
"So.." I answered. Tim grunted and bumped his shoulder against mine before grabbing my book and closing it with a snap. "Hey!" He stopped my rant with a short kiss and got up to leave, winking a goodbye.
"Did he just take your book with him?" Jesse's voice startled me. I glanced back at where Tim was pulling out of the parking lot, the sound of his truck reverberating down the street.
"I, uh, I think he did."
And for the thousandth time, I wondered at how quickly I had fallen for Tim Riggins.
A/N: ALRIGHT AGAIN. So I swear I'm going to try to at least finish this story. I'm rewatching FNL like I said earlier, so bare with me through all of the stuff that happened SO LONG AGO. I can't believe how long it's been. Anyways, reviews make me happier than candy!
