Hi guys, and welcome back to My Little Songfics! This one will be the song Roar by one of my favorites, Katy Perry. This one was requested by MarcelineFan and I hope that I can meet their request. Now, enough stalling it's time for singing! Oh, wait… I do not own My Little Pony or this song.
How had everything turned out so badly? One moment, she was in Cloudsdale, holding a racing flag in her mouth to signal the two ponies to start. The next, she was plummeting to her death at the hands of the unforgiving ground below. She was a poor flyer to begin with so her wings wouldn't even be able to help her. In short, Fluttershy was doomed. In her mind she was already saying goodbye to everyone she cared about: her family, her friends. Well, what little friends she had due to her shyness. All she wanted was to be able to live, would anyone see her and help her. Resigned to her fate, the small yellow filly closed her eyes so as to not look in the face of death. That is, until she stopped.
Slowly opening her eyes, Fluttershy could feel a slight tickling sensation against her body. Looking down, her big teal eyes were met with the sight of dozens of pink, blue, and yellow butterflies. They were helping her? Granted, Flutters wasn't a heavy filly in the slightest, her Pegasus body and naturally small build making her one of the smallest fillies in terms of weight. But even still, butterflies shouldn't be able to her support her. Oh well, the point of the matter was that she was safe now, with the help of her new friends. As she walked about the forest, Fluttershy couldn't believe all of the wonderful sights that surrounded her. She had only visited the ground once but she hadn't had time to look around. Now that she could take it all in, it was gorgeous!
All of the trees and flowers looked and smelled so beautiful, and the animals were so cute and friendly. She loved it, she loved everything, and if it were up to her, she would never want to leave. Suddenly, the sound of an explosion ripped across the sky along with a shimmering ring of rainbow. Could that have been a result of Rainbow Dash's race? It did seem possible but, what were the odds that even she could do that? The noise startled the animals and sent them all scattering to some place to hide. The birds retreated to the tree tops along with the squirrels and the ground animals ran to their dens. The poor darlings were petrified.
Well, Fluttershy just couldn't leave them scared like that; she felt something inside her compel her to comfort them. As she made her rounds to their homes in order to calm them, a tingle on her flank caught her attention. Butterflies, three of them with pink wings and blue bodies were now printed on her body. She had gained her cutie mark! This had to be the most amazing day of her life, she had discovered the joy of the land and she had found her special talent. It was at that moment that Fluttershy made a life changing decision: she was going to stay here. Sure, her parents would find her and take her back home, but she would only be there for a second. She was going to grab her things that she deemed most important and move to the ground.
She wasn't much of a flyer anyway, so what would be the point in staying where she would have to fly everywhere? She would find some place to stay until she could get a place of her own. There was a school down here that she could attend and still finish her education. After that, she would live in the forest with all of her animal friends. Oh how she could picture it, it was the perfect life for her. So quiet and serene, no more pressure into learning how to fly, and no more bullying for not being able to. With that thought in mind, the butter filly trotted to the nearby forest in hopes of finding a perfect spot for her future home.
RRRRR
As the years passed by, the goals of the little yellow filly who had fallen from the sky had… changed a little. Yes, she had been found by her parents who had been extremely worried when they learned of their daughter's fate. It had taken Fluttershy nearly two weeks to talk them out of suing that flight school for negligence. After that, she had shown them her mark and explained to them her plans for the future. While they weren't all too happy about her choices, they were assured by Flutters that this was what she was meant to do. Eventually, they relented and even offered to help her build a cottage for her to live in.
Living down on the surface was a bit of a change for the shy girl, but she began to adjust quite well, all things considered. Once she had finished with her schooling, Fluttershy took to her cottage and began a sort of care shelter. Her services with animals were almost so good that she rivaled the local vet. However, something inside the lanky filly began changing day after day. She began testing her limits, so to speak, when it came to social interaction. At times, she would find herself talking so animatedly to ponies that she even shocked herself. Her levels of confidence began to rise to heights that she could never imagine.
The change was so refreshing when compared to how she used to be, she couldn't even look others in the eye half the time she was in public. As Fluttershy walked through the forest, where she probably wouldn't have gone before, these thoughts began to surface in her mind. With every day that passed, she found her newfound strength growing in leaps and bounds.
I used to bite my tongue and hold my breath,
Scared to rock the boat and make a mess.
So I sat quietly, agreed politely.
I guess that I forgot I had a choice,
I let you push me past the breaking point,
I stood for nothing, so I fell for everything.
She was always picked on back in Cloudsdale, whether due to her shyness or inability to maintain flight. It got to the point where she began to get too scared to speak up. Her opinions went unheard and even she forgot her voice. But no more, no more silence, if she wanted to be heard, then she would be.
You held me down, but I got up (Hey!)
Already brushing off the dust.
You hear my voice, you hear that sound,
Like thunder gonna shake the ground.
You held me down, but I got up (Hey!)
Get ready 'cause I've had enough,
I see it all, I see it now…
They oppressed her for far too long, and Flutters was not going to take it anymore. They were going to hear her voice in all of its wonderful glory.
I got the eye of the tiger, a fighter, dancing through the fire,
'Cause I am a champion and you're gonna' hear me roar.
Louder, louder than a lion,
'Cause I am a champion and you're gonna' hear me roar!
She was strong and brave now; no more the shy little filly who would run from her own shadow. Granted, just because she wasn't so skittish anymore didn't mean that she wasn't kind. Fluttershy was a natural caregiver; always thinking of others before herself. Now though, she would stand just a little straighter in the face of adversity.
Oh oh oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh oh oh
You're gonna' hear me roar…
Freedom had never felt so good before, it was like she was in a constant wonder land. As she flew about the trees to check on her animal friends, the smile on Fluttershy's face grew wider. She could finally be at peace and free from the words that had hurt her. And if anyone tried to put her down, she would just defend herself.
Now I'm floating like a butterfly,
Stinging like a bee, I earned my stripes.
I went from zero, to my own hero
You held me down, but I got up (Hey!)
Already brushing off the dust.
You hear my voice, you hear that sound,
Like thunder gonna' shake the ground.
You held me down, but I got up (Hey!)
Get ready 'cause I've had enough,
I see it all, I see it now…
Her song continued on, something so sweet and light yet also so powerful. Just like the butterflies on her flank, her heart felt weightless and flitted about in joy. She was strong, happy, and finally comfortable with who she was on the inside. No more insecurities, no more doubt, no more tears; Fluttershy had the heart of tiger.
I got the eye of the tiger, a fighter, dancing through the fire,
'Cause I am a champion and you're gonna' hear me roar.
Louder, louder than a lion,
'Cause I am a champion and you're gonna' hear me roar,
Oh oh oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh oh oh
You're gonna' hear me roar,
Oh oh oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh oh oh
You'll hear me roar,
Oh oh oh oh oh oh
You're gonna' hear me roar…
By now, all of the animals in her little sanctuary had gathered around their friend, entranced by the dazzling song that she sang. They all looked up to her and loved her for her kind spirit, but it was the strength inside of her that they adored. Few could recall to when they first met her, a shy little thing who knew nothing about the ground. Now, she was a beautiful young mare with a power in her that exuded confidence.
Ro-oar, ro-oar, ro-oar, ro-oar, ro-oar
I got the eye of the tiger, a fighter, dancing through the fire,
'Cause I am a champion and you're gonna' hear me roar.
Louder, louder than a lion,
'Cause I am a champion and you're gonna' hear me roar!
Oh oh oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh oh oh
You're gonna' hear me roar
Oh oh oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh oh oh
You'll hear me roar
Oh oh oh oh oh oh
You're gonna' hear me roar…
The applause of her animal friends caused Fluttershy to look around. She had risen above the canopies and into the only breach of sunlight. To those that watched below, she was absolutely glowing. With the eye of a tiger, the gentleness of a butterfly, and with wit as sharp as a bee sting, she was far from the yellow ball of fear that she was. Her friends, both animal and pony, would have never guessed that this was her if they hadn't met her beforehand. She was proud of herself and the progress she made, to stand above those that taunted her and grow into someone better. Next time, if anyone thought that they could step on her and abuse her kindness, she would sow them. They would hear her roar.
Alright, here is the next chapter and with a whole lot of Flutter-love! I hope this turned out well for you guys and that you enjoyed it. Ok, here's the deal: my holiday break is fast approaching and with that, so is a bit of a hiatus. At least until break is over. Some may recall that I don't have a functioning computer at my house and that I have to type these up in my school computer class. Hopefully, I'll be able to get some ideas for these stories over my break but, who knows. In the meantime, don't stop reading and reviewing, I'll see if what you left and will try to get to them when I get back. So, until next time my darlings, Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas, and have a Happy New Year, mwah!
