Well, not much can be said here so, I bring you the next installment of My Little Songfics. The song this time… Just the Way You Are by Bruno Mars. Enjoy!

The pattering of tiny feet on cobblestone was heard accompanied by panting and the occasional gasp for breath. The collection of towns folk that were outside that day turned to see what was causing the noise, only to turn back, shake their heads, and smile. Seeing the small purple dragon make his way into town was a usual occurrence, especially when he was making his way to the Carousel Boutique. It was no secret that the tiny reptile had a thing for the shop owner and would do anything to be near her.

Suddenly, a sharp cry pierced the air followed by hiccupping sobs. That sound wasn't unfamiliar either, as said shop owner was known for her love of the dramatic. The sound seemed to push the drake faster to his goal and, before he knew it, he was inside the boutique. Following the wails of anguish and the cartons of ice cream lead him to the bedroom of Rarity. As he opened the door he was greeted with the sight of his love flopped ungracefully on her bed. Her mane and tail were disheveled and her robe was stained in once frozen dairy with the current offending container next to her head along with an ice cream scoop.

'She hadn't even bothered with a bowl? This has to be serious.' His steps were cautious as he entered the room; fearing that one wrong step would set her off on a tirade. "U-uh, R-Rarity, what happened?" His voice was meek and held every sense of a scared mouse who decided to walk up to a bear. Suddenly, he was wrapped in a gleaming blue aura and whisked up to the bed alongside the sobbing mare. Rarity then proceeded to grab Spike out of her magic and held him close as she continued to hiccup and cry.

"Oh Sp-Spikey Wikey, it was awful!" The baby dragon hated seeing her like this, it broke his heart. Rarity was usually so calm, collected and elegant, what in the wide world of Equestria could set her off so? "What's awful Rarity, what happened?" It took her a while but, after scoop up another blob of ice cream into her mouth and drying her face in her sleeve, the ivory unicorn set down her friend and began to explain herself.

"As you know, I-I have recently returned from my trip to Manehatten," Spike nodded as he remembered her trip; it was a long week. "While I was there, I had met the most gorgeous stallion there. He was so smart and sweet and knew all about the most fabulous fashions." From the sounds of him, Spike didn't like him already. Any stallion that was even close enough to Rarity to serve as his competition was not welcomed, and if it turned out that he made the ivory unicorn cry, he certainly was on the dragon's hit list.

"What happened next Rarity? You can tell me." The statement seemed to calm the mare from her recent fit of tears, enabling her to complete her tale. "Well, I… I thought that there would have been some form of connection between the two of us if it was approached properly. I had thought that he would have posed the question sooner but, when he hadn't, I thought that maybe he was too shy to ask." Nodding her to go on, the drake passed her another tissue. "I didn't go into any theatrics but, when I had simply asked him he… he… he told me that he wasn't interested!"

A new well of tears seemed to have been found as Rarity's cerulean eyes practically shot out a fountain. Startled by the sudden rain, Spike fell off the side of the bed with a comical 'thud'. As he stumbled to his feet he couldn't help but sigh at his friend's predicament. He knew that Rarity didn't usually let stallions affect her that much so this one must have captured her heart very quickly. He wanted to comfort her, find some words that would ease her pain, but nothing came to mind. Oh, he hated seeing a lady in pain.

"What's wrong with me!? Was I too forward? Did I read too much into it? Oh, what could it be!?" Standing to her hooves and trotting across her room, the ivory mare attempted to find what could have been the problem. Stopping on a dime, the unicorn turned to her mirror and stared into the reflective glass. "Am I ugly?" That word snapped the dragon out of his silence and look at his love incredulously. He couldn't believe his ears, had he heard her correctly? "Rarity, you are far from ugly. You're, like, the most beautiful pony I know."

"That's sweet of you to say Spike, but what other option is there? Look at me, would you say that this was beautiful?" Granted, her eyes were red and puffy from crying, her hair was disheveled and her make-up was running and staining her fur, but Spike didn't care. He would always see Rarity as the elegant and beautiful creature that he was lucky to behold on a daily basis. Feeling a newfound courage spread throughout his body, Spike waltzed up to the weeping mare and grabbed her hoof.

"Rarity, follow me please." The feeling of his claws on her hoof caused her to stop and obey, doing her best on three hooves. Spike had guided her back to her bed and asked her to sit, which she complied with. Just what was her little friend doing? "Listen Rarity, you are so far from ugly that it's not even funny. If that random stallion couldn't see it, then he must have been blind AND living under a rock." Releasing his hold, the baby drake stood in front of his dream mare. "What exactly would make me beautiful? How can I not feel ugly after all of this?"

Spike wondered if there would be any way to show her that he was speaking the truth; some way that she could understand. Then, he spotted it, her radio in the corner. He jogged over to it and hoped to find the one thing he knew would lift her spirits. 'It has to be here somewhere; I know she wouldn't throw out that birthday present.' Finally, he had found his conquest in the form of an untouched record. Pulling the vinyl disk from its protective sleeve, Spike placed it on the record player and moved the needle to the song he was looking for.

A sweet, soulful melody drifted from the speakers and filled the room with its calming presence. Rarity's eyes travelled from the player to her friend as he ran back in front of her, now suddenly bashful at being near her. Then, the unexpected happened, he began to sing.

Oh, her eyes, her eyes

Make the stars look like they're not shining.

Her hair, her hair

Falls perfectly without her trying.

She's so beautiful,

And I tell her every day.

Yeah

I know, I know

When I compliment her she won't believe me.

And it's so, it's so

Sad to think that she don't see what I see.

But every time she asks me, "Do I look okay?"

I say,

When I see your face (face, face…)

There's not a thing that I would change.

'Cause you're amazing (amazing),

Just the way you are (are).

And when you smile (smile, smile…)

The whole world stops and stares for a while.

'Cause, girl, you're amazing (amazing),

Just the way you are (are)

Yeah.

At this point, Spike had taken Rarity's hoof again and pulled her forward, leading her to her vanity mirror. There, he picked up a facial wipe and cleared the make-up from her face.

Her lips, her lips

I could kiss them all day if she'd let me.

Her laugh, her laugh

She hates, but I think it's so sexy.

She's so beautiful,

And I tell her every day.

Oh you know, you know, you know

I'd never ask you to change.

If perfect's what you're searching for

Then just stay the same.

So, don't even bother asking if you look okay

You know I'll say.

When I see your face (face, face…)

There's not a thing that I would change

'Cause you're amazing (amazing)

Just the way you are (are)

And when you smile (smile, smile…)

The whole world stops and stares for a while.

'Cause girl you're amazing (amazing)

Just the way you are (are)

By this time, Rarity's face was clear of all former imperfections as the little drake worked to put her in order. He had combed her hair and applied her make-up, taking extra care in placing a thin sheen of lip gloss.

The way you are…

The way you are…

Girl, you're amazing (amazing)

Just the way you are (are)

Rarity was so entranced by his words and her own reflection that she was shocked to have found that he had cleared her room of the many ice cream containers. 'Does he really think that way?'

When I see your face (face, face…)

There's not a thing that I would change

'Cause you're amazing (amazing)

Just the way you are (are)

And when you smile (smile, smile…)

The whole world stops and stares for a while.

'Cause girl you're amazing (amazing)

Just the way you are (are)

Yeah.

With a static sounding pause, the song ended and the record ceased its movement. The room was cleared and the mare it belonged to was just as beautiful as she would normally be. What topped it off was the smiling baby dragon in front of the ivory unicorn, enveloping her in what had to have the warmest hug she had felt in a long time. All Rarity could do was stare at her friend who did everything in his power to make her smile. She couldn't have been more grateful.

"Spike," her voice was met with a shimmering pair of emerald eyes, "thank you, for everything. You are one of the greatest friends that I have ever had." With that, she returned the gentle embrace and sighed at its comfort. While it did hurt Spike that he wasn't being seen as something a bit more special, he was still happy. Rarity was feeling better and it was all because of him; she was smiling because of him. And if making the one you loved smile was a gem, even if said love was unrequited, then he would gladly accept it. Spike loved Rarity just the way she was and he was happy that he could make her see that.

Alright everyone, thank you for being so patient; I know it wasn't easy. With everything from holidays to getting back into school, I haven't really had much time for writing. Yet, my dedication to this story and to all of you would not let me rest until I had at least something for you. So, I have brought you yet another request from MarcelineFan. Now, I will be working on other requests but I can't guarantee much. School's getting busy so that leaves me less time as I mainly write up stories there. But, I will do my best to give you guys the best. Well, that's all for now, until next time my babies, and don't forget to review, favorite and follow. Mwah!
