She was running; the only sound reaching her ears was the steady pounding of her feet on the pavement. Her deep huffs for breath went ignored as she pushed her legs to the limit. April ran across Storybrooke looking for a part of her past very important to her.

The Dark Curse was finally broken and April's first instinct was to run. The streets of Storybrooke were swarming with chaos as people ran in fret looking for their lost ones. Everyone was confused and worried now that their memories had returned. April recalled a conversation she once had with Mary Margaret, well Snow White, back in the Enchanted Forest. Snow had told her that the curse would last twenty-eight years. That meant that she was cursed for longer than she'd been alive!

As April ran, she turned her head and caught a quick glimpse of her reflection from a store's window. She never noticed until now that she looked slightly different in this world. Her main features remained the same, but her hair had changed. She was still a dirty blonde, but she had adapted a more modern hair style. Unlike her long wavy locks in the Enchanted Forest, here her hair was a tad shorter and pin straight. Even her bangs were shorter as they stopped at her eyebrows.

Currently April's mind was a mess, or better said; Clarissa's mind was a mess. Everything had happened in a mere matter of minutes that it's been hard for her mind to register all the events. However, she pushed away her self-identity problems to focus on something much more dear to her heart. The only thing she cared about at the moment.

Where is he?

Clarissa could feel her heart beat faster in her chest as each minute passed. She kept her eyes open, hoping to find a familiar pair of blue eyes amongst the town. Every inch of her being ached to be held by her lover again. She had to find him. She needed to talk to him about what happened before the curse hit.

He has to be here, right? Where else could he be?

She tried her best to remember if she ever saw his face in town. Her cursed self might've passed by him one day and not realized who he truly was. Clarissa dashed through every part of town looking for him. She even went as far as the harbor that held several boats together for fishing. Maybe his cursed self was a fisherman?

However, all her ideas led to a dead end. She couldn't find him anywhere. Her hopes of being reunited with her true love began to diminish.

"Killian, where are you?" she whispered to herself.

Then just at that moment, a red hat caught her attention.

Suddenly, she was refilled with hope as she scurried off after the memorable figure. He entered the tackle shop by the docks before she could give him a shout, and so she followed him inside. With great optimism she opened the door and felt relief flow through her as she spotted an old friend.

"Mr. Smee!"

The chubby man spun around in surprise, but once he saw the intruder, he greeted her with a smile. "Lady Clarissa!"

The two friends gave each other a warm embrace. It had been far too long since the two of them had seen each other. Clarissa felt happy to finally find someone connected to her past; now she didn't have to deal with this mayhem alone. In addition, she felt one step closer to her vital mission.

"I didn't think I would ever see you again miss!" expressed Mr. Smee joyfully. "How have you been?"

"You mean besides just waking up from a dreaded long curse?" she joked.

The bearded man laughed in agreement, "I guess that's not the best question to ask any of us right now."

Clarissa couldn't hold back from the temptation any longer as she burst with a smile. "So where is he?"

Mr. Smee's grin faded at her question. He knew exactly at who she was referring to, but he didn't want to bring himself to answer.

"What's wrong?" she asked. She could already feel an uneasiness stirring in the pit of her stomach.

Mr. Smee sighed deeply, before delivering the bad news. "I don't know where he is."

Clarissa struggled to maintain her hopeful smile. She tried to swallow back down the lump in her throat, but her voice still came out jagged. "Well that's okay; we can keep looking around town. I'm sure we'll find him."

"I don't think you understand miss." He shook his head, "I don't know where he is because I don't think he's in Storybrooke."

"What?" she gasped, blinking away the tears that were threatening to spill.

"For some reason, when the curse hit, I – I don't think it took him."

"But why? That doesn't make any sense! You must've been near him when the curse hit!" The desperateness in her voice was clearly visible now.

"Actually no miss. I wasn't."

"What do you mean…?"

Mr. Smee noticed the pain he was causing her, but she deserved to know everything. "When the Captain told us that you had runaway, he declared it his mission to go after you and bring you back. The crew and I haven't seen him since he set off to look for you."

He kept looking for me? Oh Killian… Given this new information, Clarissa couldn't stop her tears from overflowing any longer. Knowing that he had not given up on her made her heart melt with love. But the feeling didn't last long as agony washed over her. Killian wasn't here. He was still in another world, beyond her reach.

"If you don't mind me asking, why did you runaway in the first place?" questioned Mr. Smee.

The young woman closed her eyes, remembering the events of the horrible day she got separated from Killian.

"I didn't."

The sun shimmered brightly upon the town of Lunaris, blessing its citizens with warmth and radiance. It was a perfect day to go outside and take a stroll down the market. Clarissa held the empty basket in her hands lightly as she made her way to do just that. After the Jolly Roger's recent trip to a town covered in snow, Clarissa was happy to finally be able to bask in the sun's heat again.

As she walked, she smiled to herself, thinking about how wonderful the past couple of months have been. Ever since the night her and Killian first made love, their voyage together has been nothing but fantastic. They've had grand adventures together; they've visited new lands, met new people, and had multiple nights of endless pleasure. Clarissa wondered how she ever got a good nights' sleep before she met Killian, because to her, sleeping in his arms every night was the best rest she had ever gotten. Everything was going perfectly. Just as she imagined being in love should be.

I can't wait till I see him today! I've missed him so much!

Killian had been away on a journey for the past three days. He left the first day they docked in town. He told her he had business to attend to with another pirate in a neighboring village. Although Clarissa begged to go with him, Killian denied her request by reminding her of Captain Garrick and how badly her involvement in a pirate's deal ended. So in the end he was able to convince her to stay and watch over the crew, telling her that he'd only be away for three days.

Clarissa wanted to welcome him back with a feast and so she didn't waste the opportunity to go to the market on such a lovely day. Out of the three days they have been docked in town, this was her first time going to the market. She smiled as she entered the marketplace, viewing the crowds of people going about with their day. I see I'm not the only one taking advantage of this beautiful weather.

She kept her sword close to her side as she squeezed through the crowd. Once her hazel eyes spotted the booths that were selling food, she made her way straight toward them. Usually it was the Jolly Roger's cook who would be in charge of handling the food, but every so often she would help him out in the kitchen.

Clarissa giggled to herself. She would have never thought that she would enjoy being apart of a pirate's crew, then again, she also would've never believed that she would fall in love with a pirate. She had no regrets though; Killian changed her life for the better. Since she met him, there has never been a dull moment in her life.

Her basket was beginning to fill up with fresh goods, but as she was heading toward another booth, a voice stopped her.

"Excuse me, miss?"

Clarissa turned toward the foreign voice and was met with an unfamiliar face. In front of her stood a young girl; probably around the age of 13. She had dark brown hair that matched her dark brown eyes. Her clothes consisted of a plain youthful dress and a brown pouch at her side. She looked like your average Lunaris citizen.

"Hello, how may I help you?" Clarissa greeted her with a grin.

"Are you Lady Clarissa?" the young girl asked.

A blonde eyebrow was raised in suspicion. Do I know this girl? "Um, yes I am. How did you know that?"

"I need to show you something. Come with me." She said ignoring the question.

Clarissa took a step back, feeling the situation turn bizarre. "Show me what? I'm afraid I don't understand. Who are you?"

"It's about Killian."

"Killian?" Clarissa's heart began to race while her worries clouded her thoughts. She could feel her breathing quicken and her hands begin to tremble. Something seemed off. Could something have happened to him? "What about Killian?"

The girl shook her head and held out her hand. "Not here. Follow me if you want to know."

Clarissa gulped nervously before grasping the girl's hand. She had to know if Killian was alright. The girl began to walk west, the opposite direction of the docks. Clarissa noticed she was leading them toward the outskirts of town.

"Where are we going?"

Looking back, the brunette answered with a smile. "Some place where no one can see us."

Although Clarissa had a bad feeling about this, she pushed her fears aside. What she needed right now was bravery. She had to figure out who this girl was and what information she had on Killian. Even though the mood felt strange, the girl looked like a simple citizen. How dangerous can this girl be?

Once the two had reached the woods near the town border, the girl abruptly stopped.

"Now may you please tell me what news you carry about Killian?" Clarissa begged.

"I'm sorry to say that the news I carry is not pleasant." The girl frowned, staring directly into Clarissa's eyes. "Killian did not go to a neighboring village as he told you."

"I beg your pardon?" How did she know about his journey?

"Your lover lied to you. He went to the Dark Palace, the home of the Evil Queen. Inside her prison cell, he discovered a woman named Belle and demanded she tell him how to kill the Dark One."

Clarissa bit her lip, "You're lying…" He promised me he'd stop his pursuit for revenge.

"Don't believe me? See for yourself."

The young girl then opened her bag and revealed a mirror. It looked like an ordinary silver mirror with floral decorations around the glass. She handed it over to Clarissa who cautiously took it by its handle while placing down her basket.

Looking at her reflection, she scrunched her eyebrows. "Why are you giving me a mirror?"

"Because it's an enchanted mirror."

Enchanted? "You mean it is…magical?" Clarissa had never experienced real magic before. She knew the realm was full of magic and wizards who could wield it, but back home she was never confronted by it. Even these past couple of months on the Jolly Roger she never encountered magic.

The girl nodded, "Yes. The mirror possesses magical abilities, allowing its user to see anything he or she wishes to see." Clarissa's silence allowed her to continue, "Look into the mirror. Focus on the last three days and think about your lover. It will reveal to you the truth about his journey."

Doing as she was told, the anxious blonde looked into the mirror. It began to glow green as the image reflected began to change. Clarissa gasped when she saw Killian through the mirror. He was wearing a large black coat as he ran up several flights of stairs. He reached the top and fought off men dressed in black amour. Next he grabbed a pair of keys off one of the fallen guards. The keys opened a set of prison doors that held a young woman inside. Their conversation went as follows:

"Are you Belle?" Killian asked.

The young woman stood up from her bed. "Yes, who are you?"

He approached her and quickly began to take off her shackles. "I'm here to rescue you. Your father's life is in danger. He's being attacked by the very same monster that stole you away in the first place."

"Rumplestiltskin?" She smiled, "He's not a monster, let me talk to him."

"There are rumors of a magical weapon that could kill him. Your father's life hangs in the balance; I need to know where that weapon is and how to find it."

Belle shook her head, "I don't know what you're talking about and I have no idea how to kill Rumplestiltskin."

Killian frowned, "Then I'm afraid I'm not here to rescue you." With one powerful slap, he knocked her unconscious.

"No! It can't be…" Clarissa couldn't believe what she was seeing. Killian wouldn't act this way. Not anymore.

"Keep watching."

Inside the prison cell entered the Evil Queen. She and Killian spoke about his revenge on Rumplestiltskin and how she could help him achieve it. They also spoke about her plans to release a curse that would take everyone to a far off land. In order for the Queen to help him, she needed him to kill her mother.

That was all Clarissa could take as she shifted her eyes away from the mirror. She stood in her spot, frozen. It took all she had to not burst into tears.

"This isn't real!" She shouted, her lips quivering. "I-I don't believe it!"

"The truth can be hard to swallow." the girl stated while taking back the mirror from the woman's shaky fingers.

Clarissa stared at her hands, unable to wrap her mind around the idea of Killian going back on his word. Everything had been going perfectly between them. She was happy and it really seemed like Killian was happy too. Why would he throw it all away?

But how did the girl know about this? What did she gain from showing me this? How did she have access to magic?

"Who are you?"

But when Clarissa looked back up, the young girl was gone. She had mysteriously vanished.

What am I supposed to do now? Seeing Killian's true actions through the enchanted mirror made Clarissa feel as though her soul had been taken from her. She felt lifeless; like an empty shell, still in shock. At first she felt anger, but it was quickly replaced by sorrow. Her feet slowly began to move, dragging her every step. The basket filled with goods she had gotten from the market was absentmindedly left behind on the floor. She walked aimlessly through the forest until she came across a dirt road that led back into town.

She started to pace herself back toward the harbor, when suddenly someone called out her name.

"Clarissa?"

It was him. She could clearly recognize her lover's voice.

He must've been coming back from his journey. Clarissa took a deep breath and turned around to face him, trying her best to uphold a smile. Killian stood in front of her grinning, looking as handsome as he did when he left. But something was different. Right away she noticed he was wearing a black coat, just like the one shown in the mirror.

I don't want to believe what the mirror showed me, but I can't let myself be blinded. As much as she wanted to confront him about this, she was going to give him one chance to let him tell her the truth.

"Hello Killian," she greeted softly, "I see you're back from your travels. I've missed you."

Killian watched her with a worried expression. Immediately he could tell something was wrong. He expected Clarissa to gleefully jump into his arms at his return, but the woman in front of him was anything but joyful. Though on the other hand, maybe that was just his guilty conscious automatically thinking that something was wrong.

Ever since he left the Evil Queen's castle, Killian couldn't help but feel ashamed of himself. He never purposely planned on going to see the Evil Queen, but once he realized the Dark Palace was so close to Lunaris, he couldn't let the chance of talking to Belle slip through his fingers. Thus he lied to Clarissa in hopes of fulfilling the need for revenge that still burned deep inside his soul. Nevertheless, it turned out that the woman named Belle was useless to him. However, he did meet the Evil Queen who wanted to purpose a deal that required killing her mother in Wonderland. He was foolish enough to take the deal, but once in Wonderland the tables turned. Cora, the Queen's mother, offered a counter deal that seemed more negotiable. He helped Cora leave Wonderland, but instead of killing her daughter, Cora pretended to be dead.

It was this very same morning that he and Cora spoke in the mausoleum. She told him that her daughter was going to cast a curse that would wipe away everyone's memory and send them to a non-magical land. Cora offered her help to kill the Dark One, but to receive her help meant that only he would be protected from the curse, not Clarissa. The thought alone of being separated from her was strong enough to make him reject Cora's offer.

Thinking about it now, he realized going to the Dark Palace in the first place was a terrible mistake. As much as he wanted his revenge, he finally came to understand what it would cost him. Her. He loved Clarissa dearly and he felt so stupid to have risked their relationship for his selfish desires. He broke his promise to her and for that he felt mortified; he would make it up to her somehow, but yet he prayed that she would never find out about his betrayal. He would never want to see her in that sort of pain – a pain he caused.

The only thing left on his mind now was the terrible curse that would soon be on its way. He wanted to spend all the precious time he had left with Clarissa. Hopefully they'd find each other again in this new world.

"I've missed you too love." His eyes studied their location; they were in the woods situated next to the town. "What were you doing all the way out here? Is something wrong?"

Clarissa paused for a moment, thinking of what to say. "No, I'm fine. I um… I was taking a stroll through the town, but silly me I must've gotten off track." She sighed, "I was just about to head back in the direction of the docks."

"Let us walk together then."

An awkward silence filled the air as the two began to make their way down the dirt path. It seemed as though the road was abandon because no one else was around, they were completely alone. Killian's guilty heart kept him from starting a conversation and Clarissa's broken heart kept her from speaking about the important matter at hand. However, as Clarissa spotted the town coming up ahead, she summoned up her courage to ask the question she was dreading.

This is it. "So how was your journey?"

Killian hesitated; he wanted to put all of this behind him, so he stuck with his original story. "It was rather boring. I spoke to the pirate in the neighboring village and after a lot of arguing we were able to come to an agreement."

He lied. The young woman stopped in her tracks, feeling her heart shatter from within. She looked down, accepting the fact that there was no longer any trust in their relationship. The perfect dream she's been living in for the past couple of months had come to an end.

"Clarissa, what's wrong?" Killian approached her and gently grabbed her arm in hopes of soothing her. But as soon as he touched her, Clarissa hastily moved away from him.

"Don't touch me."

The tone in her voice was serious, but beyond that, she sounded hurt. "What? Why are you –"

"You're lying to me." She cut him off.

"I wouldn't." She couldn't possibly know about my treachery, could she?

Another lie. "I know you never went to a neighboring village to speak to another pirate."

"What are you talking about?"

"Don't play dumb with me Killian." She narrowed her eyes at him, feeling broken inside. "Did you or did you not go to the Evil Queen's palace?"

Killian's eyes went wide with shock. How could she have figured it out? Was this karma coming to teach him a lesson? No matter the reason, he felt his throat suddenly run dry. What could he say in order to fix this nightmare?

"Answer me, please." She begged him, her voice breaking as tears filled her eyes. A part of her still hoped that she was wrong, that this all was just a terrible misunderstanding.

But he was caught. "Yes."

His betrayal felt like a stab in the back. Clarissa closed her eyes, letting her tears spill down her pale cheeks. "Why would you do that? You promised me that you'd stop your quest for vengeance!"

He blinked, "H-How did you know?"

She shook her head irately, "That doesn't matter right now! What matters is that you went behind my back and broke all the trust we built up."

Killian took a step toward her, overwhelmed by guilt and blame. He hated seeing her cry and at the moment he felt like the scum of the earth for being the reason why. More than anything right now, he wanted to take her into his arms and hold her until the pain went away. "Clarissa I'm so so sorry. Please let me explain –"

"No!" she screamed stepping back. "There's nothing left to explain! I gave you all my love and you just threw it away!"

"That's not true!" he exclaimed in despair.

She nodded while looking at the tattoo on his wrist, "Yes, it is. You still haven't let go of Milah… and because of that I will never be able to truly enter your heart." Clarissa wiped away the wet trails on her face, but it was no use for new tears continued to descend over her cheeks. "I guess that I was just fooling myself thinking that I could be enough for you."

"Clarissa I –"

"I want to go back home Killian." she whispered, "Alone."

A strong ache suddenly emerged in Killian's chest as a thought crossed his mind. He was losing her.

"Please, you don't mean that. Just let me explain…" His blue eyes were glazed, he hadn't felt this much misery in a very long time.

But the instant Killian took another step forward, Clarissa felt herself panic. Without thinking, she sprinted back into the woods. The last thing she wanted was to be near him right now and so she ran. She hated this bad habit of hers, the habit of running away from her problems, but at the moment she didn't know what else to do. Her heart wouldn't be able to take anymore arguing.

Once she was deep inside the forest, she stopped and took refuge by a tree. She collapsed into tears by the trunk as she was having trouble breathing. This scene was almost like déjà vu. It was similar to the time she and Killian had the fight about his revenge months ago aboard the Jolly Roger. However, there was a big difference to how this fight ended.

"Clarissa!"

Her ears picked up the sound of Killian yelling her name. Unlike their last fight, Killian wasn't going to just let her run away from him.

He came after me? To Clarissa this was a surprise. She was usually the one going to him after a quarrel, not the other way around. She had never heard him sound so desperate, almost like he was about to cry.

"Clarissa where are you? Clarissa!"

Clarissa stayed behind the tree, hesitating her next move. Should she run further away or go to him? She wasn't exactly doing the most mature thing by avoiding conflict.

"I'm sorry! Please just let me talk to you!" Killian made his way through the forest shouting, hoping to God she could hear him. "I didn't take the offer to continue with my revenge! I left to come back to you! Please!"

He didn't? Clarissa didn't know what to think anymore, but she couldn't help but feel he was telling the truth. Of course she was still mad at him for lying and breaking his promise, but she loved him tremendously, and with love comes forgiveness. She didn't want this to be the end for them, she wanted to fix things. Steadily, she stood up and started to make her way toward his voice; that is until another voice spoke up from behind her.

"Hello Clarissa,"

Clarissa spun around to be greeted by the same little girl she met earlier that day. "You again."

She had a twisted smile on her lips, "I'm sorry, but you and Killian aren't going to be seeing each other for a very long time."

"What are you talking about? Why?" There was something different about the girl this time. She looked more sinister and it sent shivers down Clarissa's spine.

"I need Killian to help me with my precious plan and you're getting in the way."

The manner in which the girl said it so viciously made Clarissa realize that this wasn't a young girl at all. This was a disguise! There was something evil hiding inside the little girl. "Just what are you?!"

"Clarissa!" Killian's voice echoed through the forest once again.

The blonde turned toward the direction of his voice and yelled back, "Killian!"

But before she could runaway from the frightening girl, the child reappeared right in front of her. Swiftly she grabbed Clarissa's sword and pulled it out of its sheath.

"Give that back!" she shouted, "It's my father's sword!"

With a wave of the girl's hand, Clarissa suddenly felt glued to the ground. She couldn't move, her legs wouldn't even budge. It was like she was under a spell. The young girl must be a sorceress!

"This might come in handy in the future." She said while gazing upon the sword wickedly. Then her brown eyes met fearful hazel ones. "Goodbye, Clarissa."

"Don't!" Clarissa pleaded, but it was too late.

With another wave of her hand, purple smoke consumed the young blonde woman. When the smoke cleared seconds later, Clarissa was gone. The young girl laughed cruelly, happy that her plan was finally coming together. The purple smoke swirled around her as well, finally revealing her true form. She was no longer a young girl; she was an old woman with dark brown hair and brown eyes.

"Now onto the pirate."

Clarissa awoke on the ground with a pounding headache. She stood up and looked around at her surroundings. Surprisingly, she was still in the woods. Did the girl's magic not work? Maybe I can still find Killian!

"Killian!" she cried out, "Killian, I'm here! Where are you?"

No one answered her calls as she searched the forest. She spotted a clearing up ahead and ran toward it, hoping it would make things easier to find him. But what Clarissa saw wasn't anything she was expecting. The clearing lead to a beautiful Royal Castle, but what was it doing here?

"Are you okay miss?"

Startled by the voice, Clarissa turned to her right and saw a familiar face. The friendly dark haired Queen stood in front of her with seven dwarfs at her side. However, unlike the last time she saw her, which was months ago, today the Queen had a large belly. She was expecting a baby; and by the looks of it, it seemed to be the last month of the pregnancy. The baby could come at any day.

"Snow White?" That's when realization hit her. She wasn't in the woods of Lunaris anymore. She was inside Snow White's kingdom!

"I remember you from Port Esterlyn, you're Lady Clarissa." Snow said while recognizing her, "What are you doing here?"

"I-I was teleported here by a sorceress."

Snow gazed at her with a puzzled look. "What? What sorceress?"

"I'm sorry, but I really need to leave." I don't have time to answer questions; I need to go back to Killian! I need to warn him about the sorceress!

"You can't leave! It's dangerous!" one of her dwarfs spoke up.

"I don't care, I have to go. I need to find someone!"" Clarissa made her way through the group and headed back to the forest in a hurry. Snow White's kingdom and the town of Lunaris were very distant from one another. It would take her days to reach him.

"You'll never make it in time!" barked another dwarf.

This caused her to stop, "What do you mean? What's going on?"

Everyone looked at each other, wondering who would be the one to tell the innocent girl of her misfortune. The sad looks on their faces already made her expect the worst. There was a reason the sorceress sent her to this location after all.

Snow White stepped toward Clarissa with a heavy frown. "There's a curse coming."
