Author's Note: I know its been a while, but I had been busy during the hollidays, as expected, but truth is I am invested in my personal projects and a contest, but before the year is over, I wanted to update, hope you like this chapter, is a bit...angst I guess but I hope you like it!
The air was aggravated, so strong and directionless it made it difficult for Sven to keep running uphill.
"Hang in there buddy, we are almost there" Kristoff pated the reindeer while procuring to secure Elsa so she wouldn't fall over.
"Are you sure you want to do this?" he asked concerned once more.
"Someone must have faith in this plan if we want it to work" she said weakly "But if I fail, find a way to go back to Arendelle and raise that child, promise me that"
"But Elsa-"
"You must promise Kristoff, Anna loves you too much"
"She loves you too, if you die after how long we have been looking for you she will die of a broken heart"
"Kristoff…if I don't go to mother…everyone in this town will die" she said softly "I can't allow so many people to pay such price. Is my life in exchange of theirs"
"What? Do they know this?"
"No! And you can't tell them. If mother knows they are aware of it, she will doom them as well. There is no way to win this. My only options are to…melt her heart, that mine freezes or…kill her" she felt ill when the words left her mouth.
"We won't let you face her alone, you know that"
"I know you will do whatever you can to help me, but I am afraid that if you intervene you could be killed. Please understand Kristoff, I do this for the best, I don't want to leave any of you, I'm doing this to protect you"
"Feels like you are shutting everyone out…"
"I know…I know what it looks like. But once you take Anna to somewhere safe you have to tell her what I have told you, I don't want her to feel that I have yet shut her out again"
"I will, I promise" Sven stopped suddenly, looking around carefully
"What's up buddy?" he palmed the reindeer's side.
"Well, well, well, let's see what the wind has brought us"
"Hans!" grunted Kristoff.
"The mountain man, the 'so worthy boyfriend of the Princess' "
"Husband, actually" he said helping Elsa down "Where is Anna?" he asked harshly.
"Why enjoying my company of course"
"If you touched a single hair of hers-!" he threatened
"Calm down, nothing has been done to her, her mother wouldn't let me" that surprised a bit Elsa, so her mother didn't intended to hurt Anna, perhaps not yet.
"Bring her here" ordered Elsa
"Why would I do that?"
"Because you will have me instead"
"Is that an offer?" came the icy voice of the woman from above behind the trees.
Elsa looked into her deep eyes trying to see the woman that really loved her, her mother. "Yes. My life in exchange of Anna's . And you can't hurt any of the people down there" she then gazed Kristoff "Or Anna's husband and child"
"Well, aren't you a bit too brave for someone how's heart is freezing?"
"Do we have a deal?" Elsa persisted ignoring her remark.
"Of course we do" she said smiling softly "Hans, dear, bring the Princess here please and release her, then make sure Elsa is comfortable while her heart changes"
"As you wish My Queen" he was taken aback when he heard about the child…
Elsa doubled back in pain as her heart cracked again being barely caught by Kristoff "Elsa, are you alright?"
"Don't worry about me" she stood up again breathing heavily "You know what you must do. You take Anna and find a way back to Arendelle"
"Not before trying to save you" he mumbled
"Well Elsa, darling I thought for a second you wouldn't come" commented the Queen.
"Now that you get what you want, you can't ever harm them again"
"Indeed, but…if you want your sister to leave, you must make her leave yourself"
"What?"
"Oh, you will find something, don't worry, I remember it very well 'go away Anna' or 'I want to be alone' I don't know whichever makes her leave you for good"
"I…you can't make me do that to her…" she felt her hear shatter more in her inside.
"Your heart is turning colder, don't worry child, it won't be as difficult as you think, I just want you to shut her out, I want proof that you are not bluffing"
"She would never forgive me if I did that to her again"
"Exactly my point, so are you committed enough to do that, for your sister's sake?" she smiled devilishly while Hans came back with a tied up Anna with a sack in her head.
"Set her free, darling" asked the Queen.
Hans untied her and removed the sack just for Anna to identify her objective and throw a punch directly to his jaw knocking him to the ground. Kristoff couldn't hide a prideful smile.
Once Anna looked back and saw her family she ran towards and hugged them both
"Oh Elsa I thought I was going to be trapped forever" she looked at Kristoff "Let's go before…"
Elsa slid out her arms and fought back the tears walking towards Hans.
"Wait, what? What are you doing, I already knocked him over, let's run!"
"I can't go with you" she said in a shaky voice. "Kristoff, go" she commanded
"What are you saying, Elsa come on" implored Anna.
"I am sorry Anna" she said thru tears "Leave now"
The Queen saw everything really amused "Don't you see Anna?" she made herself noticed from above "She trade herself for your freedom"
"What?! No, Elsa you can't do that I won't allow it, you can't decide for me!"
"I'm trying to protect you!"
"You can't decide for me!"
"Don't you see is the only way for you to be safe? Why do you think I shut myself in my room for 13 years?!" Elsa saw the hurt in her eyes, but she needed her sister to go, she knew she was turning colder and she was afraid Anna would see her like the monster perhaps she was "remember the buckle in your hair?, how do you think you got it? I stroke you with magic, I almost killed you when you were five, but you can't remember because the trolls took your memories with magic and then I was send to my room so I wouldn't ever hurt you again"
"What?"
"Every single word is true" said the Queen
"Now leave Anna!"
"Well…I don't care! So what? we were kids, we made mistakes, I know you love me, I forgive you"
Elsa felt the tears building up, why did she had to be so loving? "Well I don't forgive you" she blurted out turning around unable to face her.
"What?"
"Because of you I was trapped in my room, without being able to have any contact with anyone. And you only aggravated my suffering by coming to my door imploring to build a snowman while that was the only thing I wanted to do. You only hurt me further and you didn't even knew for what, it was your fault I stroke you and still it was me the one paying the price" she strangulated her own heart feeling it beat with anger and coldness. She didn't meant those words, but in a dark corner of her childhood she had though of them. "I want you to leave now!"
Anna's eyes were now streaming rivers "You know what? I didn't want to believe it, but you are really that cold, you are worst than her, you really are becoming the Snow Queen" she ran crying to Sven being followed by Kristoff.
Elsa only could hear her footsteps running away before collapsing to the ground letting the warm tears roll down in her cold cheeks.
The Queen applauded "Very impressing, dear. I didn't thought you had it in you, but perhaps you do after all"
"I only did it to protect her"
"No, I know when someone speaks out of anger, you felt it, even if just a little sparkle, you did have a dark though on your head, there is not just pure love towards Anna, is it? After all she was the reason you were trapped"
Elsa's spirit was broken, she couldn't speak or defend herself fearing maybe her mother was right and she was really that monster. So far Elsa was closer to become like her mother than to unfreeze the Queen's heart.
