Chapter 14, Words unspoken.

A week had passed and the two exorcist were still enjoying each other's company in the library. After discovering their mutual interests, their friendship had grown. Every day they met there to talk, share stories or even just read in silence. They ate together, trained together and at the end of the day, said their goodbyes to each other and left for their own rooms.

As Kanda was eating breakfast, he waited for Allen to show up. Today would be another day filled with his beloved. They would train some this morning, eat lunch and have a meeting with Komui. Seeing as they were expected at the same time, he supposed they had a mission together. He was actually looking forward to it. Spending time with Allen had become his favorite thing to do. Allen also seemed to really enjoy spending time together. Their friendship had grown so much. Allen looked like he really admired Kanda. And looked up to him. Actually it looked like that was enough for Allen, even though Kanda wanted more. But Kanda decided once more not to push anything. Maybe someday they would take the next step.

"Good morning, Kanda" Allen greeted.

"Morning" Kanda said back. Giving Allen a little smile on his face. Allen still couldn't believe how nice Kanda was to him now. It made him happy.

"the briefing is at noon, so after training we can take a shower first." Allen said.

"sure"

Ah how Kanda looked forward to training. It was so much better now than when he trained alone. Sure he still sometimes trained solo, but still in each other's company usually. He really enjoyed it, sparring with his moyashi. It gave him a chance to feel Allen's body, it made him feel connected. Of course it was also great to see the moyashi al hot and sweaty with his bare upper body, but he'd never say that out loud.

So after breakfast they first warmed up and did some solo exercises. They ended it with a sparring match. Seeing that it was almost time, the two exorcists headed for the showers before going to Komui's.

"Good afternoon, Kanda-kun, Allen-kun."

"Good afternoon, Komui-san" Allen responded politely. He and Kanda went to sit on the couch. Komui came from behind his desk and gave them both their mission folder. He cut straight to the point and explained the mission to them.

"now before you two go complaining that you have another mission together, let me explain. Seeing as the Noah Tyki Mikk had actually planned an attack on Kanda, I don't feel it safe for you to be alone out there. Allen-kun is one of our strongest Exorcists and whatever you guys say, you make a good team. So I'm sending Allen-kun with you." Komui expected to get some heated arguments thrown his way about them not having to go together. But both exorcist were unexpectedly quiet.

Allen thought this was a bit awkward. This would be his first mission they would go without hating each other. "Um, Komui-san it's alright. Kanda and I put aside our differences. So it's okay." Allen said with his trademark smile. Kanda didn't know why, but was starting to feel a bit annoyed.

"alright then.. glad to hear it" Komui said a bit skeptical. "well then, to continue. The mission will be to Vienna in Austria. There is a small stream there. People are claiming to have become young once more after standing in it."

"are you telling me you found a fountain of youth?" Kanda asked.

"well, you could say that.. though we don't know whether that legend was true or not. But this is something alike." Komui said. "Anyway, it's your job to investigate and retrieve the innocence that is most likely responsible. You'll leave at 18:00h." with that Komui returned to sit back at his desk.

Kanda and Allen stood up to leave before Komui stopped Allen. "Allen-kun, can I have a word with you?" he asked. Allen was curious, he nodded and went back to the couch.

"Allen, what do you know about Kanda?" Komui asked suddenly. Allen was confused.

"What do you mean, Komui-san?"

"well you know that Kanda heals really quickly right? That he doesn't die?" Allen nodded. "That power will run out one day." Komui said.

"Kanda believes he will be healed whenever he gets hurt, and because of that he is reckless in battle. But the more he uses that power.. his body will run out one day. Kanda needs to take better care of himself. That's why Allen, I wanted to talk to you. I want you to make sure Kanda won't be reckless anymore. You have already changed him so much, I believe if anyone can do this, it would be you."

Allen swallowed. "h-how long does Kanda have?"

"I do not know. However, his healing ability as already deteriorated a little bit. He doesn't heal as fast as he used to."

"Alright, I'll do what I can" Allen said. He was sweating a little bit. He always thought that Kanda was ..invincible. though he hated to see him get hurt. In the end Kanda always got better. But to hear the more he gets wounded the faster he'll die..? it was a shock.

"say Allen-kun.. how come you and Kanda are on such good terms suddenly?" Komui asked curiously.

Allen got a little blush on his cheeks. "um.. Kanda had a change of heart?" he tried. Komui only looked more confused, but decided to drop it. "alright then. Well then get ready for your mission" he said.

"Ah, Allen-kun over here!" Lenalee waved. She, Lavi and Kanda were sitting at the table in the far corner of the cafeteria. They had just started their lunch when Lenalee saw Allen standing at the counter. Allen grabbed his plates and went over to them. "good afternoon" Allen said politely. He went to sit down next to Kanda.

"so I heard you guys are going on a mission together?" Lavi said.

"yes, that's right. We're going to Austria." Allen said. He then took a big bite of his meat pie.

"mmh, must be nice, going on a mission together~. Try not to get too distracted" Lavi said with a playful smirk. He didn't laugh for very long though, because Kanda had quickly hit him on the head to hide his embarrassment. Allen could only choke on the food he was chewing. When he finally managed to swallow it, his face was as red as a tomato.

"moh Lavi, don't tease them so much! Your embarrassing them!" Lenalee said. "though I'm a bit jealous" she later added.

No longer able to take it. Kanda stood up. "I'm done here. I'm going to get ready." He said and left.

"soo Allen~ aren't ya excited~?" Lavi asked.

"why would I be? We've been on countless missions before." Allen said keeping his cool.

"Yeah but now you two are lovers!"

"Lavi!" Lenalee said scolding.

"I'm just saying, might be nice to do it somewhere other than the bedroom for once" Lavi said, being the pervert that he is. Allen however was unable to answer. He was even redder then before and ..is that steam coming off him?

"huh Allen, don't tell me?" Lavi said after seeing Allen's reaction. "you two haven't .. yet?" Allen kept his head down, his bangs covering his face as he took another bite of his now cooled off food. God this was embarrassing!

Allen and Kanda were sitting in the train. It would take a while until they would arrive. Kanda was staring out of the window, deep in thoughts. Lavi was right, he should tell Kanda. But when?

"well what's holding you back?!" Lavi asked Allen.

"Lavi! That's private! They must have their own reasons, right Allen-kun?" Lenalee said. Allen looked at his food.

"I don't know.. we're both pretty new to this.. and I don't really know how to.." Allen mumbled.

"It's strange though.. I didn't think Kanda could hold back so much.." Lavi said.

"h-holding back?" Allen asked." You think he's ..holding back?"

"well from what I gather, Kanda can't hold back when it comes to Allen. Could it be your still not certain of your feelings Allen?"

"No! I l-like Kanda! I do!"Allen said blushing.

"and have you told him that?" Allen could kill himself. How could he forget the most important thing?! "there you go, just tell him!" Lavi said with a wink and a big smile.

But how should he tell him? Is right now the right moment?

"-yashi"

Or maybe when they got back home? But then again, right now they were alone.

"Moyashi" Kanda tried once more.

"wha- what?" Allen said, breaking free from his thoughts.

"you were frowning. Something wrong?" Kanda asked.

"uh, no everything is fine. I was just thinking is all. So um, have you ever been to Austria before?" Allen asked, trying to get a conversation to start.

"no"

Well that conversation ended quickly. The unbearable silence started again.

..

"what did Komui want to talk to you about?"Kanda asked suddenly.

"just that I needed to keep an eye open for the Noah, and make sure you don't do anything reckless." Allen said.

"hmph" Kanda scoffed. "baka-Komui"

Time passed again in silence until Allen fell asleep. Kanda gently laid him down on the seat and pulled his jacket off to cover Allen's body with it. He went back to his own seat. It was really hard to just leave it like that. The same as he done this last week. He had just let Allen go to bed every day, without so much as a hug. But he needed to wait. Allen still had to clear up his feelings. He had to want Kanda, and to need him. And Kanda would wait for that. He would wait until Allen would ask it of him. Even if it meant for ever.

Well that's it for today! I'm sorry it's not very long, but I couldn't let you wait any longer. I hope you like it?

As for the coupling, I think I'm going with how I started out. Not entirely sure how and when but soon. I mean, I started it that way so, I should finish it that way. Kanda can be quite the Tsundere, don't you think?

I don't think there will be much chapters to come, two maybe? Anyway, please review me! I want to read your thoughts about this all. Make me want to write more! hihi
