Lucy woke to loud noise.
Blinking the sleep from her eyes, the blonde opened them to find the culprit: Natsu stood before her with a backpack sitting on the ground before him by his feet.
It was not until she stared into his blank face that the events of the previous day hit her. Lucy sat up, feeling the remnants of sleep leave her as she swung her legs down, sitting properly on the couch. She noted the backpack and realized that he must have been up already for some time, "You're packed."
It was more of a statement rather than a question but Natsu still grunted out an answer, "Yea."
The silence between them was just as awkward and tense as it had been last night, "You're leaving then?"
Lucy found her gaze lift up from her feet finally to look him back in the eyes. She could clearly see the struggle going on between his green eyes before he closed them and turned away, "Sooner the better, I wanna leave before the sun sets."
She turned sharply to look out the window to realize that the sun was, in fact, already beginning its descent behind the mountains. Lucy couldn't believe how late it already was but realized also that the two of them had not been able to get to sleep until the morning either. Shaking her head, Lucy stood up finally and looked back towards Natsu.
His question was silently posed when he turned back to her. Lucy swallowed, feeling her palms sweat under the power of his stare. She tried her best to hold it but felt her will crumble as her brown eyes quickly fell to the floor in contemplation. Lucy knew what he was asking and she knew her answer.
And yet the words were not coming.
It was as if something was plugging up her throat, air and noise unable to reach her lips to tell Natsu was he was most curious to learn: would she come with him or would she decide to stay behind.
Lucy was surprised she had even gotten any sleep last night with such a daunting question hanging over her head, but the blonde had felt a weight leave her once she had reached her decision as the sun rose earlier that morning. The blonde sighed and looked back up to Natsu.
The pink haired boy had remained silent, feeling he owed Lucy at least this much. Giving her time and patience that he didn't even know he had been his last act of love towards the blonde who had become rather precious to him. If he had his way, he would have simply bound her up and carried her away under his arms like the rest of his possessions.
But she was not just another one of his possessions, or at least, not in the same capacity or in the sense that even Gray as posed. The darker haired boy had reminded Natsu only too many times that Lucy was technically not his.
Yet.
Watching her struggle to find her words, Natsu sighed, "Have you decided?"
Lucy jumped slightly at the sound of his voice again after such a long amount of silence, "I have," she feebly replied, "I have."
He nodded, "And…?"
The blonde fingered the fringe of her tee shirt, finding it hard again to look him in the eyes. But she fought for any lasting remains of courage and glanced up, raising her head up and holding it high in one last act of bravery as Lucy stared into Natsu's eyes and said, "I'm staying."
To Lucy, Natsu seemed to just stand there, remaining unmoving and passive to the decision that had come tumbling from her mouth. And yet, to Natsu, he felt his gut clench as if someone had punched the air out of him. He knew this was for the best but the feelings of betrayal, heartbreak, and loneliness hit him with such a force that even the old vampire could not have forseen.
"You're sure?"
Lucy felt her heart clench at the sound of hurt in his deep voice but she fought back the tears that wanted to fall down her cheeks and nodded instead, "Yes."
"Well then," Natsu grabbed his back pack without another word, tossing it over his shoulder, "I'll be going then."
Without so much as a goodbye, Lucy's eyes widened as she watched Natsu turn to make his way to the front door, ready to leave just as quickly, "Wait, Natsu!"
He didn't reply, instead reaching towards the doorknob. Lucy felt panic rise up her throat as she raced after him, refusing to let this be their last goodbye. The blonde only took a few steps before she was close enough to reach out and grab his forearm. The contact shocked both of them as Natsu let out an audible gasp before twisting his arm from her hold and turning back towards her. Within seconds, Lucy was pushed up against the wall, Natsu's arms holding her forearms up and over her head. Before Lucy could say anything though, Natsu bent down and leaned his head onto hr shoulder, turning his head into her neck and leaning into her, "Why?"
The blonde would not have heard his question if he had not been so close to her ear. Her tears returned, stinging her eyes as she answered, "Because I can't go with you, Natsu."
That seemed to only piss him off as he rose up enough to look at her, "Why?!"
Lucy was stunned into silence when she noticed how sparkly Natsu's eyes had become and how loud his voice rose. If she didn't know any better, she would think he wanted to cry, "Because," she shouted back, tears starting to roll down her pale cheeks, "It's not right! I could die or something Natsu! Your world…it's not…."
For me, Natsu finished it off inside his head. His emotions were a mess as he reached his hands further up and gripped her wrists tighter. His chest was tight as his eyes stung, "But Lucy…" he whined. Natsu hated himself for how pathetic he was sounding: like some spoiled brat who was not getting his way. He knew that, logically, this was best for her but try telling that to the tears that were starting to fall from his eyes.
He really was pathetic.
Before he could say anything more though, he suddenly felt warm, soft lips touch his. Natsu quickly realized that his grip had loosened enough to allow Lucy to lean up and kiss him. He didn't pull her away though, allowing her to kiss him gently as she was. Her lips were tender, gentle as they caressed his. Natsu was not used to anything like it and took a moment to simply welcome the new sensations she was creating inside of him before pushing her back up against the wall and leaning further into the kiss. Still holding her hands above her head, Natsu simply turned his head at an angle to gain better access as he returned her kiss with equal care. Feeling her lips between his as he pushed her closer was sending him over the edge so it was not a surprise when Natsu found himself finally leaving her lips, leaving a trail of delicate kisses and bites across her cheek and jaw, making his way towards her ear.
Licking along the ridge of her ear, he breathily whispered, "One last time?"
Lucy gasped at the feel of his heated breath down her neck before she nodded dumbly, her legs already jelly from his attention. Natsu wasted no time plunging back down, kissing her and tasting her along her neck and down to her collarbone. She was at his mercy, his grip still remaining strong and keeping her prison as he had his way with her skin. Although she had only meant it as a goodbye kiss, feeling Natsu's gentle touch was such doing things to her that she had never imagined this boy could accomplish to her senses. Feeling his tongue cover her, tasting every inch of her was overwhelming her as she whined and moaned right along with his ministrations.
The pink haired boy nudged the collar of her shirt aside to gain better access to her delicious skin. His senses were on fire, practically tasting her rising heart beat just below the surface of the skin he was currently tasting. All Natsu would have to do was open his mouth just a tad more to allow his fangs to jut out and pierce her skin, drink up the life that would hit his lips. And yet, it was that very thought that made him pull back, jarred by them.
Lucy's dull, lustful brown eyes blinked a few times before she glanced up at Natsu, confused as to why he had stopped, "Natsu?"
But she quickly returned to reality when she saw his wide, troubled eyes staring down at her neck. She gulped but the action did not help her any as Natsu caught the action and felt his eyes flicker to red, "Lucy…"
"Natsu," her voice held strength this time, enough to finally gain his attention and have him look up to her, "what is it?"
He shook his head, thoughts already leaving him, before answered, "It's nothing."
Lucy felt slightly jilted by that but knew Natsu was not going to tell her what had made him stop. With a sigh and a gentle tug of her hands, she was released. Rubbing her wrists gently, she stole a glance up at Natsu who still looked incredibly lost deep in his own thoughts. Lucy knew the moment had been lost but pushed up from the wall to reach up to grasp his cheeks with her now free hands. This gained his attention as he blinked down at her in confusion, "Natsu, I'm staying but that doesn't mean goodbye."
His eyebrows furrowed in more confusion, "What do you mean?"
Lucy frowned when she heard the remaining pain as Natsu whispered to her. She rubbed her thumbs along his cheeks softly before answering, "This won't be forever. We'll see each other again someday, right?"
Natsu didn't believe her words but still found himself nodding, "Not forever."
It was obviously the right response because suddenly Lucy was smiling. Natsu's eyes widened a fraction at the sight, not remembering the last time she had smiled so openly in his direction. But he quickly frowned once more, returning to his deep thoughts; another reminder that it was best for her to stay behind. The fact that he had brought her nothing but troubles was evidence enough of her lack of smiles and happiness.
She leaned up and gave him one last chaste kiss, "Not forever."
It was in that moment that the two both remembered something. A whispering of a time when they had made a previous promise to one another. Another 'forever and ever' that the two had indebted the other with.
It was a comforting thought that maybe they would see each other again someday.
With that in mind, Natsu backed up, readjusting his back pack, "Goodbye Lucy."
"See you later," Lucy stubbornly replied.
Natsu scoffed, "Yea, whatever."
Lucy felt her face heat up, "Don't whatever me," she reached up and pulled his collar to level his face with hers, "this isn't goodbye, Natsu. Get it through that head of yours."
He was surprised by her sudden, uncharacteristic outburst that her confession took a second to sink in. Once it had though, Natsu smirked and grasped her hand that held his shirt firmly, pushing her back against the wall once more, "I might need another reminder."
Natsu gave her no time to respond as he bent down again and kissed her, harder and rougher this time. Lucy couldn't even gasp as she felt his hands reach down, lifting and tossing her shirt up over her head. The blonde finally was catching up to his sudden actions as she reached behind him to toss his back pack off and reach for his shirt as well. The two only took breaks from kissing to remove any remaining clothing before they were back to being pressed up against the wall next to the door.
Feeling her tits pressed up against his chest and her huffs of breath against his neck as he kissed her face was doing crazy things to his dick again. Shoving her up enough to have her legs wrapped around his hips, Lucy immediately felt his hardness rubbing up against her thigh, "Natsu, please…"
Natsu kissed her one last time before grabbing himself enough to line up with her, "One last time."
And with that, he slipped right inside of her, feeling her warmth cradle him as she fully took him into her. Natsu felt overwhelmed once more by the warmth and everything that Lucy came to represent for him. Stunned enough that it wasn't until Lucy began to move for him and jar his senses into overload that Natsu finally came back. Grabbing her hips, he began to thrust into her, most likely bruising up her back as she slammed into the wall behind them. But her moans and whimpers were barely audible above the sounds of their skin slapping together and their heavy breathing.
Lucy held Natsu's shoulders firmly as she slammed against the wall, feeling his dick slam her from below. Her tits were starting to hurt as they viciously bounced from side to side, up and down. It wasn't long before Natsu too, was enraptured by their movement, quickly capturing one of them in his mouth. The added sensation of his tongue wrapping around her nipple and his dick filling her almost pushed her over the edge right then and there. Natsu also noticed and led a hand down to her center, feeling around for her clit and began to rub and tease her as he pounded into her.
It was only a few moments of this that finally pushed Lucy over the edge, feeling her world tumble away as Natsu held her close and tight. He was still thrusting up into her as she leaned down onto his shoulder, feeling her energy disappear. Natsu grunted and cried out her name as he filled her up and felt his own knees buckle under the weight of it all. The two slowly slid to the ground, Natsu cradling Lucy to his chest as he felt to his knees, still deeply buried inside of her.
The pair stayed silent, catching their breath, both deep within their own thoughts. Knowing that this would be their last for quite some time, Lucy placed a kiss on Natsu's skin, just below his neck. The boy sighed and squeezed her tighter, "I'm going to miss you."
Natsu could feel her tears drip down to his shoulder before he smelt the tears she was crying. Squeezing her even tighter to him he buried his own head into her golden locks, not able to say anything.
They remained like this for a while before Natsu realized Lucy had fallen asleep. Sighing, he stood up and made his way to his old room. He pulled himself from her, feeling sad at the loss of contact before he reached for her legs and carried her the rest of the way to her bed. Placing her down, he sat there for a few minutes, watching her sleep. Lucy's serene face was captivating even now, he thought, as he leaned down and placed a soft kiss on her lips, "Not forever," he whispered against them.
Natsu stood back up and left her there, changing into his clothes againt and grabbing his backpack.
And without another word, the pink haired boy left.
A/N: Okay so first, yay, I'm back from South Korea! It was a blast, I had the greatest time, the week I was there went by way to fast! Second, I am just in absolute awe at how many reviews I had piled up in my inbox. Just wow. And thirdly, I want to apologize because, although the majority of you readers had voted for Lucy to go off with Natsu, I realized something and have made Lucy stay back and not leave with Natsu. I have my reasons, trust me. I actually give a lot of the credit to Lollilollicandypop and TheDorkyCelestialFlame for giving me some ideas.
So this officially will be the end of this story. I already have ideas for a sequel though, so please keep your eyes peeled for that! I'll probably post the first chapter here to advertise it but it'll be a separate story. Other characters will be introduced, new adventures will be had, and potential reunions might take place. I don't know. I can't say. I'm legally obligated to keep this all one big secret.
But besides all that, I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart! New story will be up soonish...I'm moving back to Canada in the next few months from Japan (I've been teaching English here for a few years now) so things might get crazy but yea, I promise. :)
