As Anakin layed on the cold deck he looked up into his son's eyes, he knew his end was near. He just redeemed himself by helping end the emperor's hold on him and the rest of the galaxy.
"Tell your sister you were right!" Anakin spoke. "You were right about me!"
With that said death overcame him ….
Anakin awoke in a bright room full of white. He couldn't even come to any conclusion that it was a room since there were no walls or even a ceiling there was just emptiness and all white.
"Hello! Anybody there!" Anakin shouted.
Of course there was no response. Anakin tried to step forward, which he found that he easily could. As in doing so the floor felt so light it felt as if he was walking on clouds. Glancing down he noticed he was bare foot, but that's not the only thing he noticed.
As he looked himself over he noticed that his Vader parts were gone. Instead of mechanical arms and legs were his own flesh and blood. He hadn't been this whole since the Clone Wars.
Anakin looked around again this time spotting what looked like a shadowy figure off in the distance. Anakin immediately began to run in that direction. As much as he ran the distance between himself and the figure never eased. Frustration was quickly getting on him but instead of letting it overtake him he feel to his knees and let a tear fall down his cheek.
Anakin put his hands to his face and hollered, not out of anger but out of despair. For the first time in his life he was truly alone and he wasn't sure how to handle that.
"Open your eyes!" came a faint whisper.
Anakin opened his eyes, startled that someone or something had just spoken to him.
"Whose there?"
Again there was no response. Images started floating around and in the middle of it a little boy about the age of 9 on Tatooine. It took him a minute to realize he was looking at his younger self. The 9-year-old Anakin looked at his older self not speaking or even moving. The other images around his younger self began to flicker and change showing his life. As the images changed so did the younger Anakin. Images as a Padawan, his fighting on Geonosis to his betrayal at the Jedi Temple.
As the images kept changing Anakin started to sob. The images kept showing the fight with Dooku, losing his arm and his fight with Obi-Wan Kenobi where he lost his legs and was left to burn alive. He saw his torture behind the mask as he lived his life as Darth Vader and helped torture and kill innocents. Then his crowning moment where he realized he had a son and his son helped rescue him.
"Anakin!" This time it was no whisper he heard a voice but afraid to look up to find the voice gone he ignored it.
"Anakin, get up!"
Anakin finally stood and turned around to find himself looking directly into the face of the man who found him all those years ago on Tatooine. Qui-Gon Jinn!
"Qui-Gon?"
"Yes, Anakin. Get up!"
Anakin stood and looked around. The room was still white yet he no longer was the only one here. But how did Qui-Gon get here?
"Others are waiting!"
Anakin quickly glanced back at Qui-Gon, "Others?"
Qui-Gon chuckled, "Did you really think you were alone?"
"Actually, yes!"
Qui-Gon put his arm around his old friend "You were never alone, even as your days as Vader you were never alone!"
Anakin stopped in his tracks and watched Qui-Gon continue to walk ahead of him. When Qui-Gon realized Anakin had stopped he also stopped and turned around to look at him. "Come on, Anakin!"
Anakin shooked his head and answered heartbreakingly, "I can't! Those days as Vader will forever haunt me. I killed thousands of innocents. I was the dark lord of the Sith. You and Obi-Wan believed I was this 'chosen one' when all I did was..."
"Stop right there! Your son, Luke, he helped you redeem yourself when you killed Palpatine." Qui-Gon answered and as if reading his thoughts he continued. "And no Palpatine isn't here, but there are others who'd love to see you again!"
