I know I'm late, don't hassle me! I'll try and update this every other Monday and if it's two weeks in a row...it's a treat and not a regular thing. Sorry, but high school is a lot harder than it looks. Except for math, choir, drama, and PE. The other half of my day...well, I can't tell you because this story is rated K+ and I don't wanna have to change it just because of something I put in the Author's Note.
Enjoy!
Zoey was standing off to the side while Dr. Julien talked to a few skeletons. They were in a small room, it was fairly empty besides a table and a few other things that made it seem like they lived there.
"I told you, I haven't finished them yet," Dr. Julien was saying. "It'll take another week."
"You have to have some weapon done!" a skeleton argued.
One of the skeletons looked to Zoey and she tensed up. "What about her?" he asked. "She's been here our last three visits. What's she for?"
"I am only an assisstant," she said. "I'm here for nothing more than to help Dr. Julien with his inventions."
Dr. Julien looked like he was about to disagree, but he glanced to the skeletons and nodded. "She wasn't build as a weapon but someone to help me with them."
The skeleton huffed and one walked over to Zoey. Dr. Julien tried to go over to them, but the other skeleton held him back. The skeleton by Zoey got right in her face, making her shrink back a little. "Then you do your job and get those weapons done," he growled, "or I'll make sure you're shut down." He pushed past her and as his hand hit her shoulder, they both collapsed. The other skeletons ran to their comrade and Dr. Julien ran over to Zoey.
"What happened?" a skeleton asked.
Dr. Julien helped Zoey up and pulled her behind him, determind to protect her. The skeleton got up and turned to the two. "Seize the girl!" he ordered. "She may have value after all."
I gasped for air as I hit the ground. I saw Zoey look at me with worry. I'd taken three Marks of the Underworld and I didn't feel too strong. Caleb and Nancy were next to me within seconds, trying to help me up. The problem was, I was too tired to move. They helped me to my feet, but I about collapsed again. My hand was on fire and the pain was spreading throughout my body.
"Echo," Tove said, running over to me. "You shouldn't have taken all the marks, you shouldn't have even taken one!"
"I had…to…" I fell onto the ground, closing my eyes.
"Echo! Don't sleep, please stay awake," Nancy said, shaking me.
I opened my eyes. I hadn't noticed that after I took the marks, Sukeruton escaped. I didn't know where he was now. I closed my eyes for a moment and when I opened them, everyone was by me. Alex picked me up.
"Stay strong, Sis," she whispered.
"It'll be okay, Kiddo," Lucas smiled.
"I…need…rest," I said. I closed my eyes.
"Echo!"
I opened my eyes and saw Mom and Alex sitting by my bed. They both smiled at me. "How's your hand?" Alex asked.
I lifted my hand and saw the Mark of the Underworld, but it was faded a little. "Better."
"Alex told me what happened," Mom said. "Echo, what were you thinking?"
"Nothing!" I said, sitting up. "I…I was relying on instinct."
"Yeah, that'll get you killed in the real world," Alex warned me.
"Alex, you have a visitor!" I heard Kai call.
Alex clenched her fists and walked over the door. "I'm busy!" she yelled.
"With what?" an unfamiliar voice questioned. "Trying to read that book I gave you?"
Alex's cheeks blushed and her eyes widened. "What is he doing here," she mumbled before leaving.
I pushed myself up. "Echo, you need rest," Mom said.
"I'll have plenty of time to rest," I assured her.
"What makes you say that?"
"Because I'll probably be grounded for taking off while I was suppose to be grounded and have added time for going to the Underworld."
My mom just sighed with a smile and took my hand as we walked outside.
"Joey! Put me down!" Alex yelled from mid air. There was a black veil around her.
I looked to the unfamiliar boy who was laughing along with Kai. The red ninja looked up at us. "I like this guy," he said with a smile. "Can he stay?"
"Sorry, Fireboy," the boy said. "I don't stay in one place. I came because I heard Alex finally made it to the Underworld."
"Yeah? So?" Alex asked. "I told you what I did was none of your business!"
"No, you said, Gosh, Joey! Buzz off!" Joey said, making his voice sound like a teenage girl stereotype.
I giggled.
Joey turned and smiled at me. "Well, aren't you adorable," he said. "Alex, what happened to not training little kids?" He smile wavered.
"Okay, one, she's my sister," Alex said. "Two, she kinda had to learn because not only does she have powers but the serpentine are after her."
"Because of her powers?" Joey asked. "What are they?"
I looked up at Mom who nodded, though her gaze never left Joey.
I put my hands together and concentrated. In my hand I formed a small grey cloud. I looked up at the clear sky and thought rain as I lifted my hands up and opened them. The cloud drifted up, becoming bigger as it reached the sky. In a matter of seconds, it was raining. It was just a light drizzle. After a while I forced it to stop.
"Oh!" Joey said. "That's what it meant."
"That's what what meant?" Mom asked.
"Can we continue this conversation once I'm on the ground!" Alex yelled.
"Fine," Joey said. He snapped his fingers and Alex fell to the deck. "Anyway, it means I read a prophecy about her."
"It didn't involve your grandfather did it?" Alex asked, pushing up.
"Who's his grandfather?" Kai asked.
"Alex," Joey said in a warning voice. "I've got more dirt on you than you have on me."
"Nah, I'd say we're even," Alex said. "Just answer my–"
"What's going on out here?" Lucas asked as he, Zoey, Nancy and Caleb walked out.
Nancy and Caleb ran over to me. "We're so glad you're okay!" Nancy said.
Caleb just nodded and hugged me.
"Joey," Zoey mumbled.
"Prophecy girl right?" Joey said, taking a step back. "And Alex's brother?"
"So you actually do your research," Alex mumbled. "Yeah. Lucas, Joey; Joey, Lucas; Zoey, Joey; Joey, Zoey. Wow, that is hard to say."
I sealed my lips to stop from laughing and had to nudge Nancy when she giggled. The other ninja walked down from the bridge.
"So, the prophecy," my mom urged.
"Of whom?" Zoey asked, her eyes clouding over.
Joey stood face to face with Zoey. He took a breath. "Echo Garmadon."
Zoey's eyes turned white. "'The storm will call, everyone to fall. In death's end, a bond will mend.'"
Lucas caught her as she fell back. "What the heck, man!"
"They needed to know," Joey said. "This prophecy dates back to before the first battle."
"A curse," Zoey said. Her voice made it sound like she was in pain. "Dark magic! Powerful! No way to stop it."
"I like a challenge," Joey said. "I've been trying to find a way to prevent this prophecy since I discovered it on…" His voice wavered.
"Where?" Alex asked.
"The Dark Island!" Joey snapped. "You happy? That's where I've been! Dark magic can be controlled compared to stereotypical nonsense!"
"It's powerful, not dark," I said instinctively. I've always felt that way since meeting Kim. She may have been evil, but somehow I could tell her magic wasn't. Most likely the power went to her head.
"Who told you that?" Joey asked, kneeling down.
"Kim."
Joey stood. "You didn't feel the need to tell me this?" he growled to Alex.
Alex put her hands up. "Hey, I was busy with the whole Kim's spirit left mine and I felt like death effects."
"So he was reunleashed," Joey muttered. "Alex, we should talk. Now."
"We can do that here," Alex said stobbornly. "From what I'm picking up, he cursed my sister long ago. It affects us all."
"What curse?!" I cried out.
"She wasn't cursed directly. It was the first curse on your bloodline, but from the other side," Joey said.
"The first? So there's more?" Mom asked.
Joey sighed. "There's a lot to explain. Not all of it can be revealed."
"You little descendant of–"
"Lucas stop," Alex said, keeping him from attacking Joey.
"Stay out of my head!" Joey shouted.
"Enough!"
We all turned to see Uncle Garmadon. He walked over to Joey. "Get off this ship! Now!"
"You have no business telling me what to do!" Joey argued. He shifted and looked like how Garmadon used to. "Remember, you're no better than me." His voice sounded like Garmadon's too.
I covered my mouth. Nancy and Caleb both took a step back. The ninja were all staring at him while my mom put her hands on my shoulders. Uncle Garmadon frown and Alex clenched her fists.
"Knock it off," she hissed. "I swear! Both of you know better than anyone that the past doesn't define you. Joey, stop being an immature brat. Dad, don't accuse Joey of anything. I'd like for once that…" She growled. "Let's just call a meeting. Joey can explain to everyone about the prophecy and whatever else."
So that was said, and she stormed to the bridge.
What just happened?
Alex: Stuff got real.
Joey: That's not what I picked up.
Oh, for those reading The Pink Ninja, this is completely different, a separate side of my favorite male OC, Joey.
Lucas: Hey!
Shut up, Lucas. Anyway, Joey, even when he's not being shown in two different stories, is very split personality.
Review!
