This is a possible snippet for a – maybe – future story of mine.
Antauri is going to seem very OOC in this snippet, but at this point in the story he's, almost literally in some cases, gone through hell and back multiple times and has pretty much reached his breaking point.
Please tell me in your reviews what you think about it.
If I decide to do this, it's still gonna take a while before I start posting, mostly because I'm busy right now and have to keep up with my other stories (possibly rewrite a few too).
Well, as always, SRMTHFG doesn't belong to me – Please review, it would mean much to me.
„Why?" The chocked whisper echoed through the empty room. "Why them…why me?" Crystal blue eyes opened, a sorrowful gleam in them. "Why am I the one here?"
The eyes owner turned his silver head and glanced behind him. Out of nowhere, a figure slowly flickered into being. The ghostly form of a man with one red and one blue eye, dressed in a blue cloak, appeared.
"Why me father?", whispered the silver monkey brokenly.
The man gave a sad smile and silently approached the other. Then he crouched down and placed a transparent hand on the silver monkey's back. "Because they believe in you Antauri. That's why you are here."
At that a soft snarl rose from the silver monkey's throat and he spun around. Baring fangs at the man he hissed: "But why ME?! Why is it me that has to carry all of this?! Their pain, their hope, their fears, their wishes, their future! Why does it all lie with me?!" Bright purple claws formed from the simian's hand and the man leaned back, a worried frown on his face.
"I can't take this anymore", cried the silver monkey out. "I was there when they disappeared! I lost each and every one of them! I'm the only one still around and now I see them. I always see them and I can't take it anymore. Why did I have to fail? Why couldn't I protect them? Why do I have to be here now, barely grasping at the chance of maybe bringing them back?! WHY?!"
At the last cry he lashed out with his claws. The mystical power behind the attack send a pulse of energy forward, tearing up the wall of the room. "Antauri you need to calm down. You need to forgive yourself", urged the man insistently.
"I can't", chocked the silver monkey out, tears now dripping down his face. "How…how can I when I failed them? When it's my fault that they're gone?!" A powerful green glow started to gather around the broken warrior and streaks of energy lashed out, wreaking even more havoc with the walls of the room and the ground the silver monkey was standing on. "I just can't do this anymore!"
And then he toppled forward, purple claws barely shooting forward in time to save himself from impacting with the ground headfirst. They dug deep into the floor and cracks started to appear, spreading out from his claws. Sobs started to sound out, the silver body shaking with despair and pain. The green energy still lashed out every now and then, but now it was more focused on its wielder, gathering around him in a try to comfort him.
Slowly and carefully the man moved forward and kneed down next to the silver monkey. Reaching out once more, he winced softly when the green energy reared up in an attempt to repel him, before he pushed through and placed an arm around the silver monkey's shoulders.
"I…I don't want to-to do this anymore…father…"
