Fruit loops, or frosted flakes? Fruit loops…frosted flakes?

I narrowed my eyes at the two boxes in my hands, both equally delicious in different ways. One was great with ice cream, the other was great when it got soggy in the milk and melted in your mouth when you took a bite…

I shrugged my shoulders and threw them both into my shopping cart. Dad wanted me to do the shopping, he would have to suffer the consequences. Looking on my grocery list, I saw that Bella had actually written most of it down-which was unsurprising since dear old dad couldn't cook to save his life. Going down through the aisles, I threw in what was on the list and some that weren't (we were out of Gatorade and I'm sorry, I need that) and mused to myself how the past few weeks had been going.

My morning jogs had become more eventful since Jacob had started going on them with me. He was constantly joking around, his smile was radiant and contagious, much like his body heat that seemed to come off of him in waves. The kid was a literal sun.

I didn't really mind, he was nice to look at, he made me feel better. He was a good friend.

Bella had been better since Jake had started talking to her again, she had started smiling more and sulking less-which is a feat for her. It made me wonder if maybe she was finally over that Edmund guy. Was she moving on with Jacob? A pang ran through my chest. Not sure if I liked that personally, I had kinda started growing attached to the big teddy-bear. But, if he made her feel better, if he was what she needed to get over the disaster that was her weirdo ex, who was I to stand in the way? They were closer anyway.

I paused in my thoughts, 'wait…is his name Edmund?' I thought, stopping in front of the hamburger meat 'No…wait yeah, must be. Doesn't matter anyway-'

My phone vibrating in my pocket startled my train of thought away. Digging my phone out of my pocket, I looked down and saw it was from Bella.

Where are you?

Raising an eyebrow, I texted her back: store, why?

Looking back up from my phone, I grabbed two pounds of hamburger meat and started for the freezer section, a craving for tator-tots popping up. My phone vibrated again.

Do you not remember what we were doing tonight?

I pursed my lips and grew worried. I didn't have anything to do today? What was today, Saturday? No…no I didn't have anything tonight. I texted her back:

I guess not, what's up?

I looked back up from my phone and grabbed the aforementioned tator-tots and started to head for the register to pay, deciding that my father was going to be mad enough with how much extra I was buying. My phone vibrated again.

The bonfire? Does that ring any bells?

I could feel the blood drain from my face as I realized that yes, I had indeed forgotten something I was doing today. I curse the fact I had gotten my mother's absent mindedness and ability to forget her head if it wasn't attached. I groaned as I paid for the groceries and half sprinted back to the house.

I was never going to hear the end of this.

I literally just crammed all of the groceries into the almost barren refrigerator before leaving the house, planning on just running there. It didn't matter what I wore, right? I mean, sweats and a tank top with a jacket haphazardly thrown on wasn't exactly nice, but it's not like it was a party, right?

A car narrowly missing me was what made my frenzied run pause. I looked up to tear the guy driving a new one before I realized who it was.

It was Jacob. He was driving. My colorful language got caught in my throat. He smiled at me, halfway getting out of his car and leaning on his open door.

"Need a ride?"

I felt myself blush and rolled my eyes. This guy was unbelievable.

"I don't know man, do you even have a license?" I asked, raising a brow.

He gave me a simple smirk and shrugged before sliding back into his car. I gave a short chuckle before making my way over to him, deciding that I'd rather catch a ride with Jacob then have to run.

The drive was a short one, filled with animated conversation on my part, me explaining how no one had reminded me about the bonfire, and wondering what his thoughts were on my fruit loops vs. frosted flakes debate. He was a fruit loops kind of guy, but he typically forgoes a sugary breakfast all together and eats cliff bars and other weird guy stuff. Call me a child, but I have a sweet tooth all day every day.

I hadn't even realized we had gotten to the beach until he stopped the car, and took the keys out of his ignition. I looked toward the water, and saw that a pretty sizable group of people had turned up, and I internally groaned. I had managed to be the last one there, as usual.

Before I could even think to open my door, or even realize he had gotten out of the car, Jacob had opened my door from me, startling me out of my internal scolding. I gave him a quick smile before hopping out of the car and hooking my arm with his. It had been an impulsive move on my part, but I didn't want to seem awkward or out of place - that was Bella's job. Jacob went along with my antics, a smile spreading across his face as we made our way towards the party.

Let the fun begin.
