DNW chapter 12
A/N: Well, MERRY CHRISTMAS, HAPPY HANUKAH AND HAPPY KWANZA! I have decided to gift all of y'all with a new chapter! Y'all have been so patient and understanding that I've decided you have waited long enough. It's been so long since I have had time to sit down and write and today I wasn't doing anything so I decided to type out this little gift. So with that said, here is the chapter:
There is a light knock in the door and I get up from my place on the bed to answer. As expected, it was Tris ready for dinner. I closed my door and walked behind Tris down the hallway and out the door to the dining room.
Tris's POV
When we split at the end of the hallway, I go into my room and immediately go to put my laptop back into my backpack.
Once it is securely in my bag, I lay on the bed and check my phone for anything from Tobias. There is one message from him; Have a good meeting. Love you:*
I check the time and see that he would be at lunch with the gang right now. He probably isn't paying attention so I text him back; Thanks, love you too babe:*
I get a response almost immediately: How was the meeting?(Tris is regular, Tobias is bold)
Good
That's good
Yeah. What's for lunch?
Burgers and cake, as usual
Sounds great
Yeah, I know
Well, I gotta go to the dining room and eat
Alright, have fun. Love you
Love you too
I get up out of the bed and put my shoes back on. I then slip my phone into the back pocket of my jeans and open the door. I step out and close the door behind me then turn around and knock on Eric's door.
I hear the bed groan under his weight as he gets up and a few seconds later the door swings open. I turned and started walking out, not saying a word. Soon after, I hear the door close and footsteps following behind me. We leave the building and make our way over to the main building.
Once in the dining hall, I scope the place out. It looks like a normal dining hall like in Dauntless, but the tables are all connected in long rows rather than our separate tables. The line for food is to the left and I glance at Eric, who's body is tense and stiffened, before making my way over to the already long line.
"Can you see what they are serving?" I ask Eric. We are standing behind a tall guy, who looks like he could be my age from the back.
"I can't see anything in front of this guy," Eric replies.
The tall guy's hair is a sandy blonde color and about an inch longer than the normal Abnegation haircut. His body build is tall and slightly muscular, but not as much as Tobias's. He turns around to talk to the person behind him, who I assume is his friend. His eyes are a familiar hazel, leaning more towards the green rather than the brown. He laughs at something the other person said, revealing shiny white teeth and then it hits me. This is Robert Black, the person I lived next to my entire life until the Choosing Ceremony(the scene at the fence never happened).
"Robert!" I call out over the noise of the Amity talking together. He raises his eyes from his friend and they meet mine. His smile lessens by just a bit when he realizes who I am, but he quickly replaced it with a reward winning Amity grin. He motions for me to go over to him and I grab Eric's lower arm and pull him behind me.
"Beatrice, what are you doing here?" Robert asks once we get over to him.
"I'm the new faction ambassador for Dauntless, and my name is Tris now," I reply.
"Well Tris, who is your little friend here?" Robert winks at me.
"Ew, why does everyone think Eric and I are together?"
"I was just wondering," Robert holds his hand out to Eric and they casually shake hands.
****************Page Break***************
Eric and I sat with Robert and his transfer friend, Hunter, all throughout dinner. Robert is actually a funny guy outside of Abnegation. Hunter is the complete opposite of Robert in appearance; Hunter has very dark brown hair that I mistook for black until we got into good light and his eyes are a dark shade of blue, almost as dark as Tobias's.
After dinner, Robert walked with Eric and I back to our little building and we said our goodbyes at the entrance.
The chefs reluctantly agreed to feed Eric and I at 7, as apposed to their usual 8:30 so we can catch the 8 o'clock train to Abnegation arriving at 9.
I head to my room and change into a pair of Nike shorts and the shirt I stole from Tobias before hopping into bed. I glance at the time, 8:47, perfect time to call Tobias. (Bold is Tris, regular is Tobias)
Hello?
Hey, I just got back from dinner and wanted to talk to you before I went to sleep
Well I'm all ears
So how was your day at work? Anything exciting?
It was alright I guess, nothing new happened. How was the meeting?
It was good. But I can't tell everything, leader stuff is confidential
Talking about leaders, what was it you were gonna tell me about Eric earlier?
Ohh about that...
Triiisss just tell me
Fine, he kissed me
And?
And it was horrible and I hated it
...
Tobias? Are you okay?
Yeah, yeah I'm fine. Are you okay?
I guess. Is this bothering you that bad?
I don't know Tris, how would you feel right now?
Jealous I guess
Exactly then
Well you shouldn't be
I know, it's just a normal reaction when other people kiss your girlfriend
Suuuuuure Tobias*yawn*
Get some sleep Tris, I'll talk to you tomorrow
Okay, love you
Love you too
Goodnight Tobias
Goodnight babe
I set my alarm on my phone for 6:45 and turn it off, setting it on the side table. Rolling over, I try to find a comfy position to sleep without Tobias by my side. Eventually I just lay on my back and stare at the ceiling.
I must have fallen asleep because the next thing I know, my alarm is going off and I'm groaning as I roll over to turn it off.
I decided I was just going to go to the kitchen dressed in my running clothes, so I change Tobias's shirt to one of my own and leave the shorts on. I pull on my tennis shoes and grab my phone before stumbling out of my room.
The thought of food overtook my patience for Eric so I slipped a note under his door telling him I left already and then headed out to the main building.
Nearing the front doors, my nose caught a whiff of cinnamon and my mind instantly goes to cinnamon rolls. I sigh without realizing it at first and then cover my mouth like the trees will judge me. I laugh at myself before entering the building and walking back to the kitchen.

Eric eventually joined me at a random table in the otherwise empty dining room for a breakfast of cinnamon rolls, sausage links, and freshly squeezed orange juice.
I cleaned my plate and entered the kitchen to thank the chef before running back to my room to make sure I had everything together again. I figured I could shower at my old house in Abnegation so I just threw all my things back into my bag and double check everything before meeting Eric in the lobby at 7:40.
"Let's go to Stiff land I guess," Eric smiled at me before getting up and walking out toward the tracks. I rolled my eyes and followed behind him out.
A/N: sorry for not updating with a real chapter in a while. School has me really busy and I'm not getting home till 6:30 then I have to eat, do homework. And by the time I finish homework, it is 9:30 and I'm tired for bed. Football season has ended, sadly my team did not win state but we did get second place even though most of the players are not happy about it. So maybe now I'll have more time to write.
