Chapter 1

Cecile, the Crown Princess of Germany let out a sigh as one of her maids ran a brush through her curly brown locks. Her hazel-brown eyes intent on the mirror on her vanity. She was dressed in the expensive clothes that only someone of her standing had access to.

But there are moments in which she never like the idea of being royalty.

And one of them is now. Her father had someone come over and how she dare say it. She absolutely hates arrange marriages, even if it is for the good of the kingdom.

But for being the good daughter that she is, she had agreed to meet every single prince or noble that her father invites over just to parade the beauty of his own daughter and the luxury that only the palace of Germany could boast.

Although she was itching to know who the mysterious visitor is, she kept her cool.

A soft knock was heard on her door. And one of the maids went towards it and opened it revealing her mother, the Queen standing in the doorway.

"Mother..." she gasped out as turned to see the older woman and stood up from her stool. "What are you-"

"Hush, Cecile." her mother told her and looked at her with hazel-brown eyes like much her own. Most of the people she knows say that she look like her father but for her, she look like her mother.

The Queen dismissed the servants in the room, including the one who already had done her daughter's hair for the visit. The door closed with a soft click. And she turned to look at her daughter, who has her hands gripping her dress.

"None of that shaking." the older woman scolded her as she approached the ypunger and took her hands. "Your father will not like the idea of seeing you like this. Shaking like a leaf!"

"Well, if he doesn't like it, he could just accept it!"

"Cecile!" the Queen gasped at her own daughter's impertinence. "Turn down your temper." she told the younger. "You don't know what your words could do in this palace."

Cecile looked at her mother and admit that she was right, but all she wanted to say was that she was tired of the princes and nobles that come for her hand in marriage! She's just 11 for God's sake!

What does her 11 year-old mind know about those?

"We're just doing what we think is right." the Queen told her. "And for once, be proud and show the world what the House of Saxe-Couburg is made of." (1)

"I'll do what you ask, Mother." she told the older grudgingly.

The older woman nodded and turned towards the door, she was about to leave when she turned her head, looking at the petite small girl, with a small smile gracing her lips.

"Whatever you're thinking, it's not it." the woman told her and left, closing the door after her.

Cecile was left in her room, puzzling over what her mother said. "Whatever you think you're thinking, it's not it."

The Princess then let out a sigh, fixed herself and went out of her room.

King Conrad IV of the House of Saxe-Couburg sat in his throne, his crown of gold glinting his reddish brown hair, his grey eyes looking straight ahead as if saying to everyone who comes to pass that they would be sooner or later be at his mercy.

He was the grandson and successor of his grandfather, due to his father succumbing to a terminal illness and died when he was just 17 years old.

And now, he rule over the Kingdom of Germany with his beloved wife, Queen Victoria and with their two children, Crown Princess Cecile and Prince Lothair.

The doors opened and the herald proclaimed. "Her Royal Majesty, Queen Victoria with His Highness Prince Lothair and Her Royal Highness Princess Cecile!"

He looked up to see his wife and children walked towards them in graceful movements, excuded by years of training under the best tutors in the world.

"My Queen." he greeted his wife as she took a seat beside him. He then looked at daughter who seemed to ignore him, and his son as usual went up to him and greeted him with a hug.

His two children sat on two smaller thrones on each of their sides. His daughter on his left his son on his wife's right.

'Daughter...are you alright?" he asked attempting a conversation.

As always, she remained distant.

He let out a sigh and turned to the guards by the door. "Is our visitor already there?"

One of the guards stood straight, and bowed his head. "Already here, Your Majesty."

The king nodded. "Let him in."

Cecile let out a deep sigh as she resisted the urge to roll her eyes. Honestly, when will her father get the message that she never wanted to marry and prince or noble? But for her family's sake, she would show that she's interested.

She looked at the person infront of her and noticed a few things.

The person was wearing a white cloak edged with gold, and her kneel was far from the ordinary homage people who visit her father usually do. Including those princes and nobles. And the fact that only close family and close friends could escape with that.

She frowned as she leaned forward on her throne. 'Who is this?'

"You may rise." she heard her father say, his voice carried across the room.

"Thank you, Your Majesty." the figure spoke as he stood up. She frowned as the voice seemed familiar to her.

It couldn't be what whom she thought the person is.

The person seemed to bear a woman's body, she could tell by the small frame but then, some boys do have the body of a woman, but still.

"Remove your hood." she ordered without meaning to. And regretted it for she could feel her parents' eyes on her especially her father. But her eyes were intent on the person before them.

The person chuckled. "As Her Highness orders." and raised both of his hands and pulled the hood down and one gasped in surprise as the person showed himself.

Cecile couldn't her eyes at what she was seeing. It has been so long...

"It's been so long..." the princess said as she let the sentence hung in the air.
