Patience Chapter 29 Surpass

Technically, this is the last chapter that'll finish the events in this story but there will be one more chapter after this one as an epilogue to wrap everything up. Plus I'm not that good at showcasing battles soo I'll be skipping majority of em and just going to one or two main battles. Sorry to those who enjoy kickass moves by our favourite Hyuga! :3

Also, I know I owe you guys an apology for abandoning this for so long! Gomenasaiiiii! *Yells to the cliffs*

Disclaimer: You really wouldn't want me to own Naruto. Seriously.

Trees and bushes zipped by as the 5 shinobi jumped tree after tree to get to their destination. They followed the scent of the piece of cloth Hinata had obtained from that samurai man. Tension was in the air as the shinobi rushed towards their destination. They arrived at a small town located just outside of the deep forest. Signalling them to a stop, Kakashi knelt down to examine the pieces of gravel at his foot. Pakkun was beside him instantly, sniffing the remains.

"These gravels have a familiar scent to the mud lodged on that cloth. It's just past this town where the scent is the strongest."

"Thanks Pakkun. Yosh, let's get ready team. Hinata, a search please."

Hinata activated her bloodline limit and looked around. Getting past the town, there was a small basement hideout that looked suspicious. Different chakras were formulated at one spot. Their systems however, were dormant, Indicating them to be Samurai. She strained her eyes and noticed not just chakra lines, but also various inanimate objects inside the building. They could only be metal weapons, which further proved the presence of the samurai.

"Over there, let's go!"

The basement led into a spacious cavern with water dripping from the top. It made eerie sounds, making Hinata agitated. At the very back, beside wooden crates of goods was a heavy metal door. Another entrance was wide open just on the left of the metal gate.

"We'll split here. Sai, Hinata, go left into the deep cave. Naruto, Sakura and I will explore the door."

They split as directed by Kakashi and rushed towards their respective paths.

Following Sai's small mice, they went through countless caverns before finding a dead end. The two stopped and observed as one of the mice scratched its paw at the heavy wall blocking their wall.

"It looks like it's that way, Hinata-san. We'll have to make our own path out."

Frustration overtook the quiet woman. Ever since the kidnapping of Hanabi, she'd been on an edge. She took a deep breath and calmed her raging and sensitive emotions. She had to be calm here. Focus Hinata.

Cautiously observing the wall, she noticed small lines running around the rock. If she could press chakra into them...

"Hinata...san? Can I give you a nickname?"

It was so abrupt that Hinata almost smacked her head in the wall. He was thinking of nicknames at this time?! ...Well, it was cute. She giggled slightly.

"Uh, Ok Sai-san. Please give me one." She looked at him with an amused smile.

He approached her carefully and observed her closely. Being stared at so closely made her blush just like usual.

Hm... What could be fitting?

"Well, I have one!"

"What is it?" Hinata leaned forward, strangely anticipating. He gave her an animate smile and launched what might have been the most lewd comment ever given to her.

"Indigo Boobs."

For a moment, Hinata was silent. Then her face passed several colours of red before she finally collapsed on the floor, laughing so hard, tears dripped down her cheeks.

Sai was thoroughly confused. Usually, when he gave names to women, they either smacked him, or they smacked Naruto. He had never had such a reaction. Well...it fit her. With her full figure and her indigo hai-

"Sai-kun, thank you for that name. It's a bit...different from what others would call me. I won't mind if you call me Hinata."

Her smile made him even more confused, but strangely happy.

"Ok. Got it."

They resumed to the task at hand and Hinata tested her theory. She lit one of her fingers with a trail of chakra and pressed it into the line. As expected, the chakra flowed into the gravel and ran along the cracks. Now it'll be easy to use my Jutsu on this wall.

"Sai-kun, please step back a little bit."

The shinobi obliged and released his ink animals while stepping back.

Hinata positioned one hand in front of her and the other just below her ribcage. Gathering the flow of energy into her palm, she released a powerful move.

"Hakke Kusho! (Eight Trigrams: Vacuum Palm)"

The air flow went along her chakra trail, blowing up the huge boulder. With her chakra already inside the rock, all the air had to do was to be pulled along her flow of chakra and instead of caving in on itself; she rock blew outward at the directed path, creating an even better blast.

Sai moved his arms away from the unnecessary attempt of blocking rocks from falling on him. Hinata had directed the blast so precisely that little to no gravel fell on them. As the dust cleared, they found their enemies seated at a table playing cards. Their weapons were lying next to a wall, along with their gear. They all looked baffled at the interruption, and clearly not ready for battle. On the far side of the wall, an unconscious Hanabi was tied to a post in a sitting position. Blood dripped from a small gash on her forehead. It ran along her cheek and dropped on her lap. Doing a once over, Sai took immediate command. He drew furiously on his scroll and the enemy were tied with ink snakes before they even had a chance to get up from their chairs.

Hinata rushed over to Hanabi and untied her sister quickly. The fierce Hyuga went limp and fell on her. Leaning Hanabi's head against her shoulder, Hinata checked her pulse and sighed. There was a strong pulse despite the fact that she looked so dead. Looks like they drugged her.

Gently pressing her chakra to the gash on Hanabi's forehead, she pulsed chakra into it and watched the pained expression of her imouto's face change to calm. Sai dropped next to the two of them and watched Hinata work on Hanabi.

"It's too easy."

The doe eyed Hyuga looked up to see Sai's eyes serious and on her.

"It didn't even take 2 minutes to take them out." He pointed towards the strangled guards.

"It's almost like..."

As if on cue, the floor beneath them disappeared and they fell straight to their deaths.

Naruto wove through different caves and hallways by himself. Sakura and Kakashi had spilt with him at an intersection. Using his Senjutsu, he'd pinpointed the location of the enemy and purposely gave different instructions to them. He knew his one eyed sensei had understood immediately, but never stopped him. He just hoped Sakura wouldn't kill him when he met up with them.

This is my battle.

He had some pretty colourful things to say and do to that creep for hurting Hinata. That unnecessary one month gap between their relationships was all because of him. His feeling for Hinata had blossomed during the time and he craved her even more now. When all of this was over, he was determined to finish the whole Hyuga marriage proposal and make her his.

As they slid down, Hinata tucked Hanabi's head under her and used her other hand to swirl some chakra into her hands. She shoved her hand onto the wall to stop the painful slither down. In a rush, Sai drew a quick bird. The creature sprouted in the small space and grabbed both Sai and Hinata by the collar. Since the area they were going was so enclosed, it could only slow their fall.

Having nothing to carry, Sai used his hands to push off the walls in a zigzag manner and land softly before Hinata who was sliding down using both her hand and her feet.

He positioned himself and caught both sisters as they fell. The space opened up into a huge cavern.

Letting them both down, Sai quickly opened up his pack and pulled out a salve and bandage. Hinata's hand was bleeding significantly, since she had used it as a stopper. Brushing him aside, she lay Hanabi down and observed the girl. No scratches were evident on the Hyuga's body, other than the gash on her forehead and a slightly injured leg. After sighing softly, she paid attention to Sai who was gently cleaning her wound.

"Thank You, Sai-kun." The man smiled up at her, a real, honest smile.

"Please don't mention it. We have to be at top shape for this mission."

Checking their surroundings, Hinata noticed Hanabi stirring. Taking the young girl's face in her hands, she pulsed some more chakra into her temples to sooth her, and Hanabi opened pale wide blue orbs. They looked so empty, Hinata was taken aback. They were hollow, and contained no recognition whatsoever when they rested on Hinata's face.

"Hanabi, do you remember me?"

A slight nod from the girl relieved Hinata and she instantly took her in her arms, almost sobbing with relief. Small frail hands came from below and grasped Hinata's shirt desperately. During this moment, Sai noticed their surroundings. The huge cavern had many openings. It was definitely a maze.

Looks like their plan in to drive us insane by trapping us in this maze.

He drew mice on his scroll and let them do the job while he set camp. They wouldn't be able to move without Hanabi being in this condition.

After a little while, Hanabi began to speak.

"After you left, I was furious at the Clan. I blamed all of this on father and the Clan. But...they ignored my anger, and they...they told me that you were dead to us. I couldn't believe what they were saying! So I had to leave. I couldn't stand living in such a place anymore. I irrationally ran away, but before I could get far, these men caught me. I tried to fight, but they restrained me. At first, I thought father sent them after me. But when I awoke to find myself tied up, this was all around me. And they wouldn't tell me anything. Only that was the bait"

Hinata was infuriated, though she didn't show it. After Neji's death, she showed very few emotions.

"Haru will pay for this. And so will the clan."

Hinata made up a resolve in her mind. Her decision was finalized. When they got back, there would be ties to sever.

"Looks like my mice have returned."

Hinata watched as Sai opened his scroll and let the small creatures walk on it. The ink changes to Kanji, and Sai quickly filtered the information.

"This labyrinth is not that complicated. Also, my mice managed to locate Sakura and Kakashi. They both finished up hunting down a few Samurai, and are on their way out. We should get going too."

"What about Naruto-kun?"

"Kakashi Sensei said to let Naruto handle it. Apparently he found where Haru was in this maze and he's headed there currently."

Hinata gripped her shirt tightly. Naruto was finishing up what she should've been doing. She looked down at Hanabi, who'd fallen asleep from fatigue. Her lavender hair mangled with Hinata's as she picked the little girl up in her arms and handed her to a surprised Sai.

"Sai-kun, please take her to Sakura. She'll be able to fix the fatigue and do something about that leg." She pointed briefly to the bruised limb.

"I still have some unfinished business."

"Are you sure about this, Hinata-san?"

There was an intent look of determination in her eyes. For once, those soft Lavender eyes looked steel grey.

Sai studied her carefully. He now knew to never abandon a comrade, but he had to get Hanabi back.

"I found out Naruto's location too, I'll have a mouse lead you to him. Be careful Indigo-boobs."

"I'm going to beat you senseless."

Haru smirked at the comment. He looked down from his throne at the sole ninja that had entered the vast cave. The flat land was filled with samurai, and rocks here and there. A huge mound jutted out, and atop that Haru had planted his self-proclaimed throne.

Naruto's eyes gleamed with hatred, all directed at the one man on top of that shitty chair. He completely ignored the endless amount of Samurai that surrounded him, spoke directly to Haru.

"I'll pay you back, for all the pain you caused Hinata, for stealing Hanabi! And for creating that unnecessary 1 month gap between me and my princess!"

"Your princess? Looks like you don't get it. Even if she has feelings for you, you are out of her league! Her clan will never accept you! And they'll give her the cursed seal for disobeying them! Do you really want to put her through that?"

A deep chuckle emerged from deep within the Fox's throat.

"You see, all this crap you're feeding me doesn't matter. What matters to me is my Hime. And to kill you."

Naruto's boisterous manner of speech pissed Haru off to no end. What was it that this blonde had which he lacked?

"It's been some time since I let loose! I'm gonna enjoy my fill today!"

Within minutes, endless amounts of Naruto's were present, filling the vast cavern and double the amount of the Samurai.

Haru's smirk reappeared.

"Let's play, shall we?"

In a flurry of fist and kicks, the Naruto army was reduced to one. He'd observed the battle carefully. Each time one of the samurai's got hit, his Naruto clone sustained injury instead. Not even a single ninja was out, and all of his clones were gone. He produced a smaller number of clones, which divided themselves to 2 groups. One distracted the Samurai while the others went for Haru.

As expected, the 4 that went to Haru were knocked aside easily. The shinobi used the dust kicked up by the distractions and the clone clouds to reach Haru and slam a rasengan right in the man's gut.

Instead of withering in pain, Haru laughed.

"Think before you hit, you damned Kitsune!"

As if he'd hit himself, not Haru, his attack spiralled through his body like a blast and sent Naruto off his feet. Haru used this chance to unsheathe his sword and par whip is towards Naruto. The blond rolled away just in time. However, a flurry or metal spikes from the men below kept his on his toes.

Getting up, the blond wiped sweat from his forehead and took some time to assess what the hell just happened. He'd launched a rasengan at Haru, but the damage was inflicted on him. Looking at Haru's body, he saw nothing special. Nor was there anything the naked eye could see on the Samurai. It must be some kinda jutsu.

But Haru was not a man who was capable of performing any seals or moulding chakra. How could he complete a barrier around himself? There was also the consideration that samurai were incapable of doing jutsus. So what was inflicting Naruto's blows on himself?

Haru launched forward and hefted his sword in Naruto's face. The man, still stunned by his own S-ranked Jutsu, managed to block his sword with a Kunai. Naruto clearly attained more strength due to his Shinobi lifestyle and overtook Haru. Too late, he realized, as he punched the man in the gut, that the damage would be given to him. A jarring blow to his stomach out of nowhere knocked the wind out of him.

He could hear Haru's deep chuckles.

"You see, I know you're more powerful than me in more ways than one, so I decided to use that to my advantage!"

He was kicked in the abdomen once again, this time by Haru himself. His body was thrown backwards, and into the cluster on Samurai below.

He barely had time to think, Shit, before he was caught by a pair of arms midair.

Hinata landed lightly a few feet away from the enemy, with a man clearly too big to be in her arms. The situational irony caught him off guard as he stared in awe at his saviour.

"Hinata..."

She giggled softly, and placed him down.

"Naruto-kun, your mouth is gaping."

Shaken from his confusion, he gripped Hinata's shoulders.

"You shouldn't be here! Didn't you take Hanabi and exit?"

Even though she was thankful at his concern, Hinata had a resolve on her mind. She wouldn't let him worry. She wouldn't let him take her workload, her responsibility.

"Naruto-kun, I need to be here. He is my enemy as much as he's yours. And I will not let you take him alone. This is our battle."

He studied Hinata carefully. Her eyes had changed. They were hardened with resolve, her jaw tightened and set, her fists clenched tightly.

He grinned. My warrior.

"Well then, let's go wild!"

The two stood together with their individual stances, and glared at the bemused man.

"Before you want to get to me, take care of those samurai below. Then we'll talk."

Hinata activated her Byakugan. The world turned into chakra lines, and outlined bodies. She was surprised to find a tag under each of the samurai's bodies, as well as Haru's body.

"Naruto-kun, each person has a seal placed on his body. It looks like a barrier of some sort."

"It is, when you hit either one of these bastards, you get damaged, not them. I can't hit them this way. Nor can I hit that shit up there. We need to do something."

"Then maybe, Jyuuken works!"

Hinata rushed into the cloud or Samurai and parred with her hands. Their weapons got in the way. She couldn't land a single hit.

She backed up slightly and decided to take one on instead. As the men rushed towards her, she leapt up and landed behind the crowd. She picked out a single samurai and parried with him before knocking his blade and smacking her gentle fist in his chest. There was a resistance, and something absorbed her blow, but she felt no reciprocation. She backed up before the samurai could land a hit on her and was surrounded by them.

Tufts of blond appeared instantly beside her as they worked their way into the samurai herd. However, each blow only hurt Naruto.

"How is it that the blow did not blow back on you?" Naruto asked puzzled as he blocked a blade. For now, they were on defence.

"I think that this only affects the person inflicting the blow if physical contact is initiated. Since my Jyuuken doesn't let me touch the enemy, maybe that's why it didn't turn on me?"

But the rasengan... Ah. A conclusion came to Naruto's mind.

"Maybe it's, when the user does not connect through the enemy with charka." He ducked a blow and explained to the quizzical Hinata.

"Your Jyuuken contains chakra, but its leaves your body before it hits the enemy. My rasengan stays connected to me."

"Then..."

"Let's do this."

Naruto grabbed Hinata by the waist and pulled them both away from the samurai. He rushed through seals and created a Rasenshuriken with the help of 2 clones. Throwing the shuriken filled with power, he watched as it engulfed many Samurai and ultimately destroyed them.

Naruto grinned back at Hinata. Looks like we'd found our solution!"

Together, the two formed a quick tag team. Naruto used his clones to knock out weapons from the hands of Samurai while Hinata used her Jyuuken and slammed it directly at the seals on their bodies. The paper shattered and the men were once again vulnerable. From there, Naruto would finish the job by delivering a solid punch, or Hinata would uppercut and slam more Jyuuken into their faces. They worked in perfect harmony and thinned out the crowd. Just as Naruto finished up the last of blows, a sword pierced him in the gut from behind.

"Forgot about me?" Haru grinned from behind.

"Naruto-kun!" Hinata stumbled over bodies but halted when Haru pulled a Wakizashi (Small sword usually kept with a Katana) and levelled it to Naruto's throat.

"Another move by you Hime and his head with be at your feet. Now, release your chakra and come quietly to me."

Hinata lowered her head and dropped her weapons. She walked with shaky feet towards the pain stricken Naruto and the smirking Haru. Before Haru could even think to move, she changed her stance and struck a Jyuuken right between both his and Naruto's abdomen.

Struck by the blow, he fell backwards, and Naruto fell to the floor.

A wooden log lay where Naruto's body should've been.

"Wha-"

"Oldest trick in the book bastard."

Naruto smirked as he sat on Haru's chest with a kunai aimed at his heart.

Hinata stood beside him and knelt down.

"You see Haru, I'm not how you may think me to be. I have enough kindness in my heart to let you go, even though you caused so much grief to my family, to me, to Hanabi and to Naruto."

"But I don't."

The last thing Haru saw was Naruto's broad fist.

The rosette turned to see Naruto and Hinata exit out of the underground hideout, hand in hand. They look good together...

"What happened to that freak?"

"Successfully captured!" Naruto's grin was even brighter than before, considering the man was fully satisfied. It had been a long and painful journey for the two of them. And Hinata couldn't wait to get home to fully claim her courtship with Naruto. But things had to be done beforehand.

But before he could do anything, he received a good smack in the face from Sakura, who was royally pissed at the genin for going off alone.

It was quite a surprise that almost all the head members of the Hyuga clan and Hiashi himself were present at the gate of Konoha. It was a display of bland eyes and frowns. As Hinata and Hanabi, who, thanks to Sakura's medical attention was practically glowing, entered, the elders tried to take in the younger sister, and separate her from her sibling.

Hanabi firmly placed her feet next to Hinata's and folded her arms tightly. She was going nowhere.

What used to be vulnerable lavender eyes were now hardened pearls, narrowed and ready for battle. Hinata's stance was confident and her head held high. She faced the people she used to fear as a child with newfound pride. It was time to end these foolish games. She would no longer be controlled like a puppet. Nor would she ever let her sister face something ruthless like that.

Team 7 watched from a distance as the two sisters stood before their clan. Naruto had an endless amount of belief that Hinata's decision was correct, and he would give his endless support for it. Though Sakura's nails digging into his arm really wasn't helping his blood circulate properly.

The words that escaped Hinata's lips stunned the Hyuga elders to their core.

"We've both decided to sever all ties with the Hyuga."

"Wha-" The evident scowl on Yuki, the head elder increased significantly.

"What right do have outsider to speak for Hanabi! You've betrayed us enough, and if it wasn't for the Hokage's ignorance in clan matters, you'd be kicked out of Konoha. Hanabi will stay in Hyuga and become the successor you could never be. Now come to this side Hanabi."

Neither sister moved a muscle at the statement. They simply continued to stare at the Hiashi.

"I did not ask for your opinion in this matter, Yuki-sama. I would like to remind you that though you are an important asset in advising the Head, you are not the Head. Hyuga Hiashi-sama is. And this statement is directed at him, not you."

If there was ever a polite way to say "fuck off" to a person, it was this. Yuki turned three shades of red, then purple and proceeded to steam.

Hiashi was more stunned at his daughter's confident than her statement. She reminded him so much of Neji, he'd forgotten he was looking at Hinata. Weak little Hinata who couldn't sputter a hello without stumbling.

"Normally, if the heir surpasses the head, he or she becomes the next head. In this circumstance, I'll apply the same method."

He stepped forward with the grace of a veteran and moved into the standard Hyuga stance for Jyuuken. This stance was more controlled and better angled. Even a genin could feel the immense chakra swirling around Hiashi.

"Come."

The sisters mirrored expressions of determination. They were prepared for this even before they'd arrived in Konoha.

Together, they mirrored Hiashi's stance, with their own alterations.

Everyone in the vicinity held their breath, until hell broke loose.

Hiashi swiftly pared each strike and pushed the daughters back. But he underestimated their ability to cooperate. Even though they had never really worked as a tag team, they moved like an oiled engine. Where one fell, the other leaped and gave time to recover. Even though Hiashi was the head and had grace and power, he couldn't match the combined wrath of the younger enemy, furthermore his daughters. Both of which had matured and advanced rapidly.

He deflected a blow from Hanabi and leapt back from the Hinata who came from above. Before he even hit the ground, Hanabi was behind him, forcing him to engage with her fierce Jyuuken. While his hands were occupied with Hanabi, Hinata proceeded to aim for his back. He was forced to take both sisters together.

At this rate...I'll end up losing.

He ducked and aimedfor Hinata's amputated leg. Even though she'd gotten used to it, he knew it could be used as a method to win.

He struck it...and was surprised to find resistance. Just like a puppet, Hinata had drawn a barrier around her leg and a seal was placed on it. As he struck her leg, instead of hitting her, the chakra resisted. Both sisters took this moment to advance further. Hinata had already opened her Twin Lion Fists. Hanabi's chakra was swirling rapidly. They both used his momentum to throw Hiashi off, and hit him with their best shots.

Everyone watched baffled as Hiashi lay on the ground with two hands aiming at his throat.

In that moment, instead of being a grown man, he was merely a chuunin, lying on the ground looking up at a young girl.

"Beat you again didn't I!"

"Your defeat, father."

He was shaken from his memory to see two identical copies of his late wife above him, in the same stance she'd beaten him with.

Hinata reached down and pulled the man up. He looked stunned. But the battle was done. The winners were evident.

"YAAAS! GO HINATA! I KNEW YOU COULD DO IT!"

The fox ran over and crushed his lover in a hug. Now no longer in battle mode, Hinata blushed to the tips of her toes.

"N-n-naruto-kun?! Everyone is... Is loo- looking!"

Her words were muffled by the Blonde's shoulders.

The rest of the team 7 joined the trio merrily. Kakashi and Sakura congratulated them as did Sai. But he creeped Hanabi out too much.

As Hiashi watched their interactions. The elders gathered around him.

"Hyuga-sama! Are you alright?"

He brushed off Yuki's concern and smiled bitterly.

"They will no longer reside in the Hyuga Complex."

"But, Hyuga-sama! What about the next heir!"

"That bridge can be crossed when we get it."

He turned to the crowd of bolstering people.

"You two have earned your way out of the Hyuga Family. It is up to you to decide your paths."

Hinata was surprised at the slight smile on his face. It was rare. She looked Hanabi and nodded.

Removing herself from Naruto's arms, she stepped forward with Hanabi, and both sisters bowed formally to their father.

"Thank You father."

He studied at the two Hyugas, No, his daughters with pride.

They lifted their heads and walked past him, followed by Kakashi, who gave a slight bow as well as Sakura and Sai. Lastly, Naruto stopped before him.

"I'll take good care of her."

"Of course you will."

Naruto gazed up, grinned and ran away.

As Hiashi watched their receding backs, he was oddly reminded of his wife.

They've grown up to be just like you.

Aaaand... That's about it. If the last bit didn't make you cry, then you have no heart! Jk, it was cheesy. This was an unnecessarily long ride. I could've finished this story way faster if intended. But I'm a lazy person. So yeah. I apologize if the ending was crappy. Thank You so much for staying with me to the end! It was fun to write this and all you people who reviewed, you don't know how happy I get each time I see a review so Hugs for youuu!

**Important A.N: In case you ignored the first A.n and the one above, just letting ya know that there is one more chapter that's more of an epilogue that ties everything together. I'll be posting shortly.
