是我 永世的霜雪 不舍的一切 "My eternal snow, all that I can not bear to lose, mine and mine alone"
Tessa walked alone, she did not know how long has she been walking, or how far. She had simply ceased to care. Gone, all gone now.
Jem had lived with her for a blissful 50 years. They had done a lot together.
They raised their children for a few more years, before sending them both to the academy in Idris. Jem was every bit as kind as he was to her as to her children, never showing any sign of relapse to his cruelty and madness he had when he was a phantom.
After that, they travelled a lot, mostly to China. They had done a lot of research on the mystical world in China, and they went everywhere. From the ice world of Harbin, the friendly coast of Fujian; from the uptight city of Peking, to the cultured plain in Xi'an. They even visited a place of blue and green water as clear and unblemished jewels, and they named it after the nine affectionate villages that lived around it, "Jiuzhaigou".
They tried their best to help the Chinese people, both Shadowhunters and mundanes. They helped harbour revolutionist fugitives from the oppressive government, and later, the poor people whose lives were torn apart by war, oppression, and famine.
Later, when Jem grew too old to travel, they settled in Idris and lived close to their children and their grandchildren. They taught the young Shadowhunters of the largely closed off and unexplored world of China.
Then, Jem grew sick. She took care of him day and night, but he slowly grew so sick he was beyond the help of medicine, iratzes, or anything. She watched him die, day by day. Though it should have been a relieve to both of them, his impending death only disheartened her. And when he finally died, his beautiful brown eyes closed for the last time, surrounded by their big family, Tessa could not bear it. She sprinted out of the door, and kept walking after that.
She did not know where she was, but she had a feeling that even if she was back in her little Institute in London, she would not recognize anything. Everything feels foreign without both the love of her life. She wished hard for a release from this life, this accursed eternal life. But all that came was snow, as far as the sky went, she trudged in the snow, her legs numbed by the cold a long time ago. She had to go on, whether she wanted or not, because when she slowed down, her pain would catch up to her and incapacitate her.
So she went on, walking on her own.
So there it is, completed at last. It took me a few days to finish it, but I'm so glad I'm able to finish this. I know it's a sad ending, but that's how it worked out to be. Please let me know what you think. That would be much appreciated.
