Author's Note: Hello there! Been quite a while, eh? Here's a new chapter! Enjoy!
Touhou: Subarashi Shin Sekai Chapter 2: Welcome to Gensokyo, where getting dropped from high in the air is our initiation!
"I swear, it was an accident!" A blond haired boy, by the name of Ryuuji Kuzunoha, tries to convince an angry shrine maiden, who now holds a rather…sturdy gohei. Ryuuji's pleas did seem to reach her, as she kept coming closer to the blond haired boy…
This shrine maiden goes by the name of Reimu Hakurei, and she is currently wearing one of those famous 'I'm-going-to-beat-the-ever-loving-crap-out-of-you' looks, as her face was so angry, it would send even the god of war screaming for his mother and hide under her skirt, "Thanks to you, I'm now a damaged product! I can't marry anyone else now!" Remiu's face was red as the burning flames of hell…
"…What the hell are you talking about?! I did not even sleep with you! You're not a damaged product unless the 'bed thing' happens! What are you, a 6 year-old?!" Ryuuji argues as he keeps backing-off, "And I did not even feel anything, I swear! I was unconscious!"
Reimu looked like she took a glance at her chest, before asking in a grim tone, "…Did you just say you did not feel anything at all? Not even a small lump?" And thinking that this was his escape route, Ryuuji answers in a voice that sounded like he was actually telling the truth, "…Nope! I even thought I was touching the flat ground for a second there. Haha, hahaha…" Ryuuji laughs sheepishly as he finished his statement. Not knowing the true consequences of his answer…
Reimu's eyes widened for a second, before those very eyes got filled with burning rage, much to Ryuuji's fear, "…So you're the type of guy who only likes those…high-breasted women, huh?! You're…so…" Ryuuji swore he saw tears form at the shrine maiden's eyes, though they did not fall…
"You're so damn despicable!" Reimu roars as she jumps towards Ryuuji, and assaults him from above with her gohei…
"Fukou da…"
*WHACK!*
…Death is a hunter unbeknownst to its prey…
"Oww…" Ryuuji groans as a sharp pain attacks his head as he wakes up in a dizzy manner…
"Where…am I? What happened…?" Ryuuji asks himself, before trying to remember what happened earlier…Only for a headache to foil his attempt, and causing him to suddenly slap his forehead…
"Oh, so you're awake?" A girl's voice rings from Ryuuji's right, prompting him to look at the source of the voice, only to find…
The shrine maiden whom he landed on earlier…Reimu Hakurei.
"…Reika? Why are you in that…miko costume?" Ryuuji asks with a confused expression, eliciting a face-palm from Reimu, who replies, "…I guess I whacked your head too hard. And my name is Hakurei Reimu, not this 'Reika' girl of yours! Why do keep calling me that anyway?!" Reimu asks a barrage of questions, only for Ryuuji to answer by holding his head in pain.
"…Sorry, you just looked like someone…I know very well. I'm Kuzunoha Ryuuji, by the way." As Ryuuji said these, confusion runs rampant in his mind, "What the hell is this?! Does Reika have a twin or something?! And even her last name is Hakurei too! I would like to ask her about that, but…She obviously doesn't know Reika, judging from her reaction when I called her by that name…Damn it, must it be because of that light? Did it actually sent me somewhere? Only one way to find out…"
"So, uhh, Hakurei-san, right?" Ryuuji asks the shrine maiden, who replies, "Just Reimu-san is fine. Everyone else around here calls me that, anyway…" Ryuuji nods at Reimu's reply, and he continues his questions, "So, Reimu-san, where am I, exactly? Is this still around Mikage-Cho?" Ryuuji asks Reimu, who just shrugs, and answers, "Oh boy, here we go again. Why can't Yukari write a book or something? *Sigh* Okay, listen up…" Reimu then begins an explanation about their current whereabouts…
~Girls are explaining. Please wait warmly~
"So…You're saying that…I'm in some sort of…different dimension?" Ryuuji asks as he tries to clarify what he just heard from Reimu, who nods.
"…Did she drug me or something? Or maybe I cracked up after that…whack on my head…I just don't know anymore…" Ryuuji massages his forehead as he tries to absorb the information Reimu just shared…
According to Reimu, Ryuuji is currently in a place called Gensokyo, a separate dimension from the 'outside world', which is modern earth. Gensokyo was originally a desolate, haunted region of Japan ages ago. The youkai that lived there began to terrorize the surrounding lands, and thus powerful, heroic humans were sent to exorcise and exterminate them. The off and on battle between humans and youkai continued on until 1885 A.D., when Gensokyo was sealed off from the increasingly scientific and skeptical world with the creation of the Great Hakurei Barrier. There has been little contact between those societies ever since. Today, the only known gateway between Gensokyo and this world is the Hakurei Shrine, which stands in isolation along the border on distant mountains of the far east.
"If I remember correctly, my home town, Mikage-Cho, is at the eastern tip of Japan. I guess that's the reason why I ended up in here. Geez, to think I'd end discovering things like this after chasing a fox. But enough of that," Ryuuji says as he puts a hand on his forehead, "I'd better ask for a way out first…I'm getting bad vibes that youkai ARE wandering around here…She did say something like that…"
"…Is there a way for me to get back home?" Ryuuji asks in a normal tone of voice.
"I can send you back, actually. But the border transfer ritual can only take place during the full moon. And lucky you," Reimu points at Ryuuji as she kept talking, "The full moon is going to occur at the night three days from now."
"I see. So until then, where am I supposed to stay?" Ryuuji crosses his arms as he kept speaking to Reimu, "Is there an inn, or a village around here? I might be bothering you with the expenses…" Ryuuji looks Reimu in the eye as he said this. After looking around the insides of the shrine with his eyesight, Ryuuji concludes that Reimu doesn't have much luck concerning donations…
But much to Ryuuji's shock, Reimu's answer wasn't as he expected, "Well, since it's just three days, I can provide you with a home…Temporarily." Reimu says before proceeding to exit the room that Ryuuji is staying at, but as she is closing the door, she gives one last order, "Oh, and if you think you're okay, you can come with me to the human village later. I need to buy supplies for two, and I don't think I'll be able to carry large baskets with just two hands. So I'll need your help." Reimu then proceeds to close the door, leaving Ryuuji with his thoughts.
"So there's a village around here…I wonder if they have a telephone line, at least. I should at least find a way to contact Reika or old man Genjou…Why did I have to forget about my phone?!" Ryuuji then proceeds to stand up, and as soon as he stood up, the covers of the futon fall from his body, revealing that he no longer wears his jacket…and shoes.
He looks around for a bit in the room, and finds his jacket behind a drawer with a sliding door. He puts it on, before heading out of the room…
"The shoes are probably at the porch…"
"…Looks like you're all good. Let's fly out!" Reimu says as soon as she saw Ryuuji come out of the shrine.
"Fly? What does she mean?!" As Ryuuji was immersed in his thoughts, Reimu grabs his hands, and says, "Alright, hold on tight…" Ryuuji silently complies, and tightens his grip, when…
…Reimu takes off into the air, dragging Ryuuji along!
"Holy shi-KYYAAAHHHHH!" Ryuuji helplessly tightens his grip even further on Reimu's hand, while the latter just smirked of amusement. She remembered that flight is impossible in the outside world. Ryuuji's scream was priceless, too…
As they were flying, Ryuuji forces his eyes to open, and saw…
A beautiful view of the forests below him.
All the fear he felt melted for that moment, although his grip is still as tight as a snake's. Reimu seems to have noticed this, and speaks, "Beautiful, isn't it?" Ryuuji silently nods, without removing his sight from the view of the forests below him. Reimu just continues speaking, "This is why I prefer flying over walking."
"Do all the people here fly too?" Ryuuji asks in clarification, to which Reimu just wordlessly nods. After ten minutes of flying, they finally spot the sight of a village, which is now a short distance away from them…
Reimu hovers towards a large wooden gate, with two towers , on both sides. Reimu then slowly lands, with Ryuuji in tow. Both of them landed safely, and then they proceeded to enter the large wooden gate… Where a pair of stern looking middle-aged men with spears stood in watch.
As Ryuuji and Reimu approached, the two guards suddenly intersect their spears with each other, prevent passage to the shrine maiden and the outsider.
"…Who are you?" One of the guards asked Ryuuji. But before he could answer, Reimu quickly chimes in and answers for him, "He's an outsider. I'm just taking him with me to help with shopping before sending him home. So please, let him in."
"Another one, eh?" The guards sighs, "Very well. You may enter, Hakurei shrine maiden, and her guest." The guard looks at his fellow guard, and gives a nod at him, then the both of them put away their spears.
The two guards then proceeded to push open the large gate, and gestures to Reimu and Ryuuji to enter, and the shrine maiden and the outsider did as the guards asked.
As soon as Reimu and Ryuuji reached the other side of the gate, the guards quickly closed it up…
Reimu and Ryuuji found themselves in the main streets of the Human village. Ryuuji was looking around like a kid on his first day in the carnival…
"Whoa…I thought this place was something like the peaceful country-side…But look at all this people! They all look busy too. Is this how old Japan was like?" Ryuuji thinks in awe as he looks around him. Surrounding him were the hustle bustle of people, each one having a busy time buying something, or doing their jobs like carrying wood, or children running and playing around. "The whole place sure is lively, despite having no benefits of technology at all."
"Alright, are you done sightseeing now?" Reimu interrupts Ryuuji's train of thoughts, "Actually…go on. I'm going to do the buying, and you do the carrying. So what I want you to do is to stay around this place. I'll need you to carry half of the baskets, and I really don't wanna waste time looking for you, so stay put, alright?" Reimu instructs Ryuuji, and the latter just nods. Reimu then proceeds to the market area, leaving Ryuuji in the middle of the busy streets…
As he was walking around, Ryuuji tried to think of what he is supposed to do…
"If I remember correctly, backwater places like these have tea shops rather than cafés, or ramen and oden shops rather than fast food chains. It's not so bad actually. It's been a while since I ate clean food anyway." A smile slowly creeps its way into Ryuuji's lips, "I guess it's the oden shop, then!" He then proceeds to walk around, looking out for any oden shop he might find…
…As Ryuuji began his quest for the oden shop, a pair of anticipating eyes are observing him from the rooftops of one of the buildings of the village…
'Found you…Little Ryuuji…'
-4 hours later-
"And so, after waiting for the shrine maiden, who never returned from her hunt for vegetables, I sat on this bench like it was my last hope, and I am slowly losing my consciousness as hunger starts to incapacitate me. Finally, after a while, what was left of my consciousness slips away. And thus, my journey ends abruptly…Wait, what?!" Ryuuji slapped his face as delusions started consuming his thoughts out of boredom…
"Ugh, what in the world is taking her so long!? It's just buying supplies!" he sighs, "Girls and their shopping…" Ryuuji stands up from a bench in the premises of the Human Village's plaza, and heads out to the main streets once again…
-Meanwhile with Reimu-
"…Please don't forget to also donate to the Hakurei Shrine, thank you!" Reimu cheerfully says as she successfully trades another bunch of good luck talismans for a rather large sum of yen, with an old man and his wife… She has been doing this since the last hour…
As she kept on doing business as a group of children approaches her for more talismans, a nagging feeling bugs her mind, "For some reason, I think I'm forgetting something important…Oh, look, a customer!"
And so, Reimu Hakurei kept on…'working hard' that day…
-With Ryuuji-
After looking around for a bit, Ryuuji spots a rather lively, and noisy tea-shop in one of the buildings in the human village's main street. Feeling a bit hungry after his long wait, he enters inside 'Cherry Blossom Tea-Shop'.
Quickly taking on any empty table and seats on sight, Ryuuji looks around, and finds the menu of the shop written on a paper hanging by a wall.
A waitress then approaches Ryuuji, and asks for his order. After successfully writing down the outsider's orders, the waitress then leaves for the kitchen, before returning to attend to other customers.
While waiting, Ryuuji decided to take a better look around him. Inside the tea-shop he's in, there are a lot of people, consisting mostly of ladies, some men, and some children. However, as Ryuuji kept moving his line of sight, one of the women caught his attention…
It was a woman, but not ordinary, by any means…
She has brown eyes and long silver hair with blue highlights. She wears a hat that looks like some kind of building with a red ribbon on top. Her dress is dark blue with white short sleeves, and a red ribbon is tied to the bottom of the collar.
"Her face…No, her whole being matches a goddess! She totally looks like one of those teacher heroines from visual novels!" Ryuuji loses his sense of etiquette, and kept staring on the woman in question. The said woman notices his stare, and stands up from her table…
…And goes to Ryuuji's table.
"Excuse me, young man…" The woman talks to Ryuuji, snapping him back to reality. The woman continues to speak, "Didn't your parents taught you that staring is rude?" The woman's stern words embarrasses Ryuuji, and makes him apologize quickly, "…I'm sorry about that. Please forgive my rudeness…I was thinking about something, and I happened to look at your direction…" Ryuuji stands up and bows as he said this. Despite his sincere actions and tone, the woman does not seem to buy his excuse, and gives off an unamused sigh, "Very well, I accept your apology."
The woman then sizes up Ryuuji, and asks, "Those clothes…Another outsider?" Ryuuji was confused at the outsider part, but nods anway.
"Hmm…I see. Shall we take a seat first?" The woman then proceeds to sit on the other chair of Ryuuji's table, prompting him to also sit back down on his chair.
As Ryuuji had his attention back on the woman, she then continues to speak, "My name is Kamishirasawa Keine. I am the guardian of this village, and the only school teacher at the same time. Who might you be, young man?" Ryuuji had an extremely confused look on his face as he heard Keine's last name, but proceeded to introduce himself when Keine asked for his own, "I'm Kuzunoha Ryuuji. Nice to meet you, Kamishiwa…wa…rawa…sa-"
"Please, just call me Keine-sensei. And nice to meet you as well, Kuzunoha-kun." Keine interrupts Ryuuji, and bows, causing Ryuuji to bow as well. Both of them took a seat after that.
"Well, then, Kuzunoha-kun, How long have you been in Gensokyo?" Keine starts asking Ryuuji, who crosses his arms in response, "Well…Today's my first day. Although Reimu-san said that she will be able to send me home on the night three days from now on. I wonder why though…"
Keine responds quickly, "I see. By the way, Kuzunoha-kun, do you believe in youkai?" Ryuuji was about to shake his head, but quickly remembered the flying experience he had with Reimu.
"…If people can fly, then of course, I guess there's youkai. But…I still can't believe it." Ryuuji nods his head to Keine's question, eliciting another question from her, "Then, is if you are one of those outsiders who do believe they exist, then what is the theory behind the youkai's appearance?"
"Well, if I remember correctly, they come from people's imagination…Gotta thank our history teacher for this." Ryuuji then begins his answer, "They come from the fabrication inside people's minds?"
"You are partly correct. You deserve a C+." Ryuuji felt stung as Keine kept speaking, "However, the source of a youkai's existence isn't only the people's imagination, but…" Keine's tone became slightly grim as she keeps speaking, "Their fear…"
Ryuuji felt a chill in his spine as Keine kept speaking, "And did you happen to know what time of the month is it that their fear is strongest?" Ryuuji shakes his head, a response expected by Keine, who keeps speaking, "During the full moon. I'm pretty sure that even in the outside world, they fear nights of the full moon, am I right?"
Ryuuji nods at Keine's question, while in awe of what he just heard. "I guess the reason why those horror movies having a full moon night setting makes sense now…But I didn't actually think it would be for real…"
"Youkai tend to be…aggressive during those nights. Which is why I would advise you not to goof around during nights of the full moon, is that clear?" Keine says to Ryuuji in a stern tone while maintaining eye contact, giving Ryuuji the impression that she is indeed warning him…
"Ah...I see. Thank you for telling me." Ryuuji nods again. "I guess youkai are real around here…Or maybe, the people just believe too much? I want to see with my own eyes…Oh, wait, I'm not supposed to think like that! Reika and the others are waiting for me back home!" Ryuuji massages his head as his mind is in turmoil. His face clearly states his confusion.
Keine notices his expression, and quickly defuses the situation by starting another conversation, "Well, Kuzunoha-kun, I would like to ask a question concerning the outside world…" Ryuuji's face lit up as Keine kept speaking, "I'm really curious about the system of education and learning in the outside world…If it's alright with you, could you share some information regarding on how it works?" Ryuuji then proceeds to massage his forehead, before he starts explaining…
"Well, normal education starts at nursery, which is at age 4 by normal standards…" Ryuuji starts explaining the education system to Keine, who listens intently…
~Boys are explaining. Please wait warmly~
"…I see. So, they even include in school lessons the training for a person's chosen future job as well? That is one good method of preparing for one's future, indeed. Unfortunately, we do not have any of those 'colleges' here. School only lasts until 6th grade, as the children are sent to do jobs as soon as they are of age."
"Those kids sure sound like they have it easy…But then again, looking at how things here work without technology, it makes sense to be more on the practical side than just simply pursuing knowledge." Ryuuji nods at Keine's understanding of the schooling system of modern Japan and her comparison of the school system of the human village…
Time passed by as Ryuuji and Keine kept talking about the outside world and the human village. Their discussions went around from school systems, to the way of entertainment, and currently, the dishes found in the different countries of the outside world…
…And Ryuuji explains the simplest definition of pizza he can remember, earning another curious look from Keine, who then concludes that technology has indeed affected even the way of cooking in the world outside of Gensokyo, to the point that it weirds her out.
"What does she mean by weird?!…" Ryuuji then proceeds to move to explain another dish, "Well then, the next dish is called-"
"So, this is where you went off to. To think that you would not listen to a word I said…*Sigh* Outsiders…" A familiar voice interrupts Ryuuji and Keine's conversation. Ryuuji turns to the source of the voice, and finds Reimu holding two large baskets.
"…I'm sorry, but I can't help it! I got hungry and thirsty sitting on that bench for hours! I was planning to go back there as soon as I'm done with tea, anyway." Ryuuji retorts, eliciting an irritated look from the shrine maiden.
"Is that so?"
"That IS so."
"Now, now, calm down, the two of you." Keine interrupts, "Had I not disturbed Kuzunoha-kun, he could have returned to the spot you made him wait into. Please, try not to take it out on him." Keine explains, earning her a surprised look from both Ryuuji and Reimu.
"And since when were you two so buddy-buddy? Tch, whatever." Reimu says as she tosses a large basket at Ryuuji. He manages to catch it before it hit the ground. "Let's get going before it gets dark. I really don't wanna deal with youkai while carrying food and some stubborn guy." Reimu says before leaving the tea-shop, earning a slightly angered look from Ryuuji…
"Please don't be mad at her. She may tend to act like that, but she actually cares for her guests. She just doesn't like showing it." Keine pats Ryuuji's shoulder, "I wish you luck in going home, Kuzunoha-kun." As soon as she said that, Keine then proceeds to bow, eliciting Ryuuji to do the same.
"I really enjoyed our chat today. Good luck and take care, Keine-sensei!" Ryuuji says before leaving the tea-shop. Keine just gave a smile, before proceeding to leave herself, but was stopped by a waitress of the shop. "What is it?" Keine asks the waitress…
The waitress quickly answers in a low voice, "That young boy with you, sensei…He hasn't paid his bill…"
Keine palmed her face, before answering, "…I'll pay up for him…"
Reimu is currently up in the air, carrying a large basket with her right hand, and Ryuuji on the other, who also carries another large basket with his other hand.
"So, how was the village?" Reimu asks Ryuuji, who answers quickly, "Well, it's not so bad. The air is so clean compared to where I came from, and the whole place feels lively. It's a great place, if you ask me…" As Ryuuji said that, Reimu had a slightly surprised look on her face.
"…That's different. Most outsiders I've escorted would often whine about how 'backwater' this place is…" Reimu says in a serious tone. This earns Ryuuji's curiosity, and asks, "Really? Do they really complain that much?" Reimu nods at Ryuuji's question, before proceeding to speak…
"They would often spout nonsense like this things they call 'internet' and 'Wi-fi', and when I said there wasn't anything like that in my shrine, they would start whining like a bunch of babies. Other than that, they would often complain about the village, and sometimes, they would even try to leave by themselves, resulting in…" Reimu starts ranting about how outsiders would not listen to a word she says and where she ends up saving them from the danger that the outsider brought upon himself.
"…From what I've heard just now, she most probably encountered teenagers. I mean, seriously, who the hell would look for an internet connection inside a place surrounded by forests and nature?! I guess technology has indeed blinded us from the beauty of mother earth…Did I just sound like an old man…?" Ryuuji proceeds to look at the sky, which has gone dark. "I guess it's about nightfall…I wonder how old man Genjou and Reika are doing right now…? But before that…" Ryuuji then looks at Reimu…
"…I guess I should thank you." Ryuuji says as he looks back at the sky. Reimu has a surprised look on her face, "What's with the sudden gratitude?" Reimu teasingly asks.
Ryuuji answers with gratitude in his voice, "Ever since I arrived here, you helped me, despite my…'dynamic entry' and just meeting me. At the village, you still went and looked for me, even when you could have just left me when you wanted to. And you're even offering me temporary lodge for three days. W-well, my point is…" Ryuuji takes a breath before continuing, "You're so kind, Reimu-san. I would really like thank you in advance, just in case I might forget to do so when I leave. So yeah…Thanks!" Ryuuji finishes his speech of gratitude.
Reimu, being thanked for the first time by an outsider, and much to her shock, didn't feel the blush on her face rapidly spreading and deepening in color, and without her knowing, Ryuuji tilts his head forward and looks to his right, earning him a short glance on Reimu's red face, who was trying to avoid his sight, although that did not stop him from seeing the bright tint on her face…
"Errr, you alright? Your face looks quite red, you look like you have a bad case of diarrhea…" As soon as Ryuuji finished his statement, Reimu turns into his direction, and saw that he was indeed attempting to look at her face…
"Wha-what are you looking at?!" Out of shock, Reimu unconciously swings Ryuuji off her hand, causing him to fall!
"KYYYAAAAAAAHHHHHH!" Ryuuji's scream echoed throughout the sky…
Reimu suddenly snaps back to reality at his scream, but when she decides to take a look below her…
She saw nothing but darkness…making it impossible for her to look for him, much less, save him…
"Oh, shit."
-With Ryuuji-
With his body falling down at high speeds, Ryuuji felt nothing but fear corroding his entire being…
Right before closing his eyes, he manages one last scream…
"WHY MEEEEE?!"
…Such misfortune, indeed…
-Ryuuji POV-
…Ugh, my back…
I opened my eyes…And found myself in the same beautiful meadow of my dreams. This time, it was night in here, and beautiful blue colored, glowing flowers were around me, their petals swaying by the wind…
And there 'she' is, again…And she's…looking panicked?
"Wake up." She speaks to me in a hushed tone, albeit panicking, "Please, wake up, or else it's too late…You cannot die here. Not yet." Not yet?! I don't really like the sound of that.
"It's about time…The sun has started rising. You must make your move, before any youkai might find you…Or if they did…"
She pauses, along with a change in expression. Her face now filled with…anticipation.
"Let's see what you would do in the face of danger…My little Ryuuji."
And once again, my 'consciousness' is starting to slowly fade, as if the existence around me is being taken away from my senses…
And my dream ends…
"Ugghh…" Ryuuji groans as he tries to move, only to feel softness coming from his back, as well as the sounds of the rustling of leaves. He then moves around a little more, and feels the rough sensation of leaves on his arms…
"Leaves?!"
He then proceeds to roll onto his side, and lands straight into the ground, with a few leaves scattered around, as well as on his back. As he opened his eyes, he finds several rays of sunlight passing through the branches and leaves of trees…
"…I guess it IS morning. That woman was right…"
Ryuuji then proceeds to look to the direction he rolled from, only to find a combined stack of fresh and rotten leaves. Then, he takes a look around him, only to see a lot of trees and more of those leaf stacks.
"…I just hope that there's not a guy in a white hood waiting to pull me inside those stacks of leaves and start stabbing me..."
A girl's voice suddenly answers Ryuuji's prattling, "…Huh? What are you talking about? Are you saying there's a dangerous human who stabs people while hiding inside those stacks of leaves?! "
The voice causes Ryuuji to jump out of surprise. As he somewhat regains some of his rational thinking, he turns to the source of the voice…
…And finds a sight he has never experienced before…
It was a girl with teal colored hair and eyes, and a pair of dog-like ears. She wears a long pale pink shirt with a white dress below it. She appears to carry a broom as well…
"Those ears…It can't be!" Ryuuji's eyes widened, taking a step back as realization hits him, "A youkai?!" Ryuuji's heartbeat races as fear and adrenaline slowly builds up inside him…
The youkai girl also looks surprised, but unlike Ryuuji, she doesn't seem scared, and only looks shy. She even begins to speak in a timid tone, "…Oh, I'm sorry for scaring you. I'm Kasodani Kyouko-" Before the youkai could finish, Ryuuji runs away like the devil is on his tail! If he had one, that is…
"Hey, wait! I won't hurt you!" The youkai girl named Kyouko attempts to stop Ryuuji with words, but failed as her voice couldn't penetrate through the wall of fear that has built itself on Ryuuji's instinct…
The youkai girl's mind was in turmoil as well, "Oh crap! One of Hijiri-sensei's rules is to give refuge to the lost, and I can't believe I'll be screwing that up, out of all the others! She'll be mad if she finds out! Oh, wait, she'll be extra angry if I lied to her!" Kyouko then begins to chase right after Ryuuji, "I must prove to Hijiri-sensei that I can help humans too! I might get promoted for this!"
-BGM: "Normal Battle Theme" - Monster Girl Quest
"Oi, waaaiiit! I swear, I don't eat humans! I'm a Buddhist!" Kyouko shouts in a pleading tone, attempting to calm down the adrenaline fueled outsider. However, the effects were otherwise…
"…What kind of excuse is that?!" Ryuuji says as he runs even faster as he heard Kyouko's voice from the distance behind him, "What's next, a youkai knocking on my door and asking 'Do you have time for this and that'?! That's not even funny!"
As he kept running, Ryuuji finds himself around a clearing in the forest, with a lot more of those stacks of leaves lying around, "Youkai has a good sense of smell, and that youkai girl looked like some sort of dog youkai…and of course, dogs are famous for their sense of smell, which means that stacks of leaves are useless…Damn it, why can't my first youkai encounter be something fit for beginners, like a slime girl, for example! But…is a slime girl even a youkai? I don't even care anymore! At this rate, escape is impossible!" Ryuuji's thoughts were in turmoil as he kept running for his life…
"Hey, I said wait! I'm not hungry, I swear! I just had breakfast!" Kyouko attempts again, but the effects on Ryuuji were opposite, again…
"And what am I supposed to be, dessert?!" Ryuuji remarks while running…
After running for about an hour, Ryuuji manages to slip behind a large tree, and takes shelter under its shade, from the heat of the sun, and if possible, the youkai girl…
"Huff…Huff…Did I…Break away from her line of sight, somehow?" Ryuuji looks around him, and did not find the youkai girl from before…
"…Phew! I guess I could rest, for a little while…" Ryuuji was about to sit on the ground, when a voice suddenly booms above him!
"You can't run now!" Before Ryuuji could even react, a figure suddenly jumps from one of the tree branches above Ryuuji, landing on him and pinning him down to the ground at the same time!
Ryuuji closes his eyes and struggles hard, but he couldn't break free, since the figure has an amazing strength that he couldn't match!
Ryuuji's strength has been drained as well, thanks to his adrenaline run from earlier…
"Damn it all!" Ryuuji mentally complains as he couldn't speak out of fear. He slowly opens his eyes, and turns to see who captured him…
It was the youkai girl from earlier, the one who called herself Kyouko Kasodani.
Ryuuji's thoughts were once again in disorder as panic consumes his mind, "Is this the end for me…?"
…Seeing that her prey has given up, Kyouko flashes a toothy grin…
-BGM Fades-
And that's all!
Whoo, boy, this chapter sure is quite short, huh? But do not worry! Chapter three is en route to 35% completion, and WILL be LONGER...Although, due to my summer classes, and my current planning for my Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann X Strike Witches Fanfic(And yes, Kamina is in it.), and as well as managing my other fanfics, the next chap's gonna take a long, long, time to finish. I hope you'll still be patient for a next chap!
As for the other things, what is your opinion of this chapter? Constructive criticisms are always welcomed!
