Chapter Six

Spirited

The kiss was sweet. The unforgettable taste just as satisfying and hypnotic as the currently paralyzed wolf demon had fantasized all those centuries ago.

Such a feeling, such a sensation couldn't possibly be real…but it was. It truly was. He was here, he was in Kagome's bed and she was kissing him.

Her lips were soft, her fragrant scent just as intoxicating as it always had been. It was like something out of dream or a blissful nightmare given the circumstance.

Kouga was a prisoner of his own mind, a slave to his uncertain instincts of what exactly he was capable of doing next.

He felt himself move, his bare and masculine arms lifting to Kagome's soft silken shoulders the hard calloused palms of his hands gripping her flesh tightly.

At this exact moment he honestly didn't know his intentions. But, it was an outcome of only two possibilities. He was either about to pull himself away out of pure shock at this entire situation, or the more tempting of options. Pull Kagome closer, crush her small frame to his chest and ravage her mouth the way he was most certain he was capable of.

Unfortunately though he would never know which decision would have won out in the end. As he felt Kagome's hands brace on the hard plain of his pectorals and her slightly blurred hazel eyes part open.

The moment her orbs actually met the still widely parted jewels of Kouga's azure gaze it looked as though she had just snapped out of a trance, a trance she only now realized she had been under.

Without a word she pulled herself back breaking the tingling contact of their lips as she stared wide eyed and moistened lips at the demon who still held tightly onto her.

"K-Kouga-" She breathed, as the actual reality of what she had just done crashed down on top of her like a tidal wave of absolute panic and disbelief.

Kouga watched motionless as her trembling hands ripped themselves away from his heated flesh to cup over her now trembling lips almost afraid of what might spill out next.

Though a muffled gasp had managed to escape before she could seal them tightly enough away from his sight.

Kouga followed suit retracting his hands away from her now bordering on trembling form. Though instantly he regretted that decision seeing as his hands clutching onto her had been the only thing anchoring her down.

With the weight of his hold gone Kagome sprang from the bed like a coiled wire fixed to explode! One swift motion she had untangled herself from the sheets of her already messed bed and was sprinting towards the protection and isolation of her bathroom.

Kouga made an attempt to follow but had only managed to make a step or two before the smaller attached rooms door swung shut with one hard shove sealing the now absent priestess inside, forcing her completely out of sight.

Kouga froze mid-step.

An almost sickening sense of dejavu washing over him. To often had this very situation happened, Kouga throughout his life had taken actual pride in seducing the most unseducable woman. Be they married, or just for whatever reason unavailable.

And of course the morning after finally achieving his ultimate goal of getting said woman into bed, he had often woken up to this very scenario.

Them fleeing for dear life out of shock and horror of what they had just done. While he sat grinning in the midst of his bed with victory over his satiated accomplishment.

But, this time. He felt as though he didn't deserve this type of reaction, he after all hadn't done anything! His only crime had been coming to Kagome's aid when he thought she was in distress.

So why did he feel this way? The emotion so many woman who had come before her had been incapable of making him feel…guilt.

The answer came easy enough. Because unlike all those other blurred make up smeared faces. This girl, this woman. He actually and deeply cared about.

Kouga swallowed hard as he stared ahead to the sealed barrier between him and the no doubt fuming priestess on the other side.

Maybe that damn phrase he had heard spat at him countless times over the vast span of his bad decision filled life was true after all.

What goes around, really did come around.

Sleek rain droplets slid down the immaculately clear glass like a thousand invisible serpents chasing one another down the colossally flawless skyscraper pane.

On the other side of the liquid viper like scenario two inhumanly sharp amber eyes burned through the light storm to the seemingly endless horizon beyond.

This almost indescribable being gazing ahead unaffected by the dim glow of his own reflection in the pale light. His cold eyes, his porcelain skin, or the short tightly combed tresses of his silver hair.

Ice clinked in the one hand that was currently unhidden in the pocket of his sharply pressed grey suit. His slender fingers wrapped around a chilled glass containing a hazel colored liquor.

Hearing the sound, it enticed this intimidating like specter to take a slow sip of the cool alcohol letting it scorch his throat with its invisible heat all the way down.

Despite the effect, his demeanor and solemn facial expression remained unreadable and demur.

The silence of the pentacle of this tower like structure was constant, that was until the light twisting of the golden door knob leading in the pristine office like room was heard.

Instantly one of the wide set heavy oak double doors slid open and a broad though equally as sharply dressed figure stepped through.

"Lord Tashio." The intimidating large man wearing an almost humorlessly small earpiece began with a respectable nod toward the sharp back of the unphased presence still fixed at the room edge.

"Everything has been set. All we need now is wait for the target to cross over the boarder." The buzz cut bohemian like male continued.

"I have men stationed at every possible entrance point." He continued, reassuringly.

A response wasn't immediate, instead the finely suited silver haired figure took another slow sip of his chilled beverage. His handsome lips savoring the taste of the overly fine sprit.

"Don't return without the girl." He commanded low and deadly.

"Of course." The massive suit dressed male replied dedicatedly. Before bowing respectfully, and vanishing all to suddenly from the very same door he had emerged from.

Then faintly, with the rising of the sun beginning to emerge from behind the flatten plain of the horizon. The rain began to run dry.

Harshly direct beams of piercing sunlight glared through the barely water droplet stained window of Kagome's now brightening bedroom. The unwelcome rays of the rising sun coming to rest on Kouga's tan cheek and azure eyes making the wolf demon squint uncomfortably from the burning sting.

Swearing under his breath Kouga threw his head back to rest against the still tightly sealed wooden blockade of the absent priestess bathroom.

His shoulders slumped and his arms crossed tightly over his bare chest as he sat fidgeting on the harden floor.

His legs beginning to numb from the last few countless hours he had been welded in this unrelenting position.

He hadn't really noticed until just now, with the rising of the sun just how long he had been sitting here begging to a hollow door.

"Come on Kagome. You have to come out eventually." Kouga sighed heavily. He had already set outside her damn bathroom all night, what more did she want from him?

He wasn't about to move from this spot until he had gotten the unreasonable woman on the other side to open up, but that didn't mean he wasn't currently thinking of all the other responsibilities he had scheduled for the day.

He didn't have time for her tantrums! Yet he was powerless. Him! A great warrior and the soul heir to the eastern wolf demon tribe! Forced to sit helpless at the mercy of a pregnant human girl, and her accursed refusal to open a single door!

"I told you to go away!" A clearly determined and upset voice demanded from the other side of Kouga's back.

Kouga angrily cocked his head to the side making sure the seriousness of his tone reverberated through the wooden board separating the two of them.

"You're not getting off that easy!" He called bluntly.

"I'm not going anywhere until you talk to me!" He added firmly.

"I have nothing to say to you!" Kagome shouted back sternly.

Kouga felt his fangs bare together and his eyes squint tightly shut as he pinched the bridge of his nose with his forefinger and thumb.

A sigh of pure frustration escaping his clenched lips. How could one human woman possibly be this infuriating!?

"You do realize I'm doing this out of courtesy right? I could easily break this damn door down!?" Kouga growled low and serious his scarred knuckle knocking at the harden oak at his back in a hard threat.

He expected a 'don't you dare' or 'you wouldn't' statement from the concealed priestess. But instead he received nothing at all, which instantly revealed how seriously he had been taken.

Kouga swore under his breath shaking his head frustratedly from side to side. A vague amount of sleep, an empty stomach and an environment filled with nothing but tension really could turn him into an unpleasant demon to be around.

"I didn't mean that-" Kouga began apologetically.

"It's just- Kagome please?" He breathed the amount of exhaustion in his voice coming out surprisingly clear for the first time.

"It's late-" He whispered, though in all actuality he knew it was now early. But he digressed.

"I'm tired. I'm starving, and I know you are too. Unlock the door?" Kouga asked with as much sincerity as he was capable of giving considering the circumstances.

He had suspected his heartfelt plea to move the raven haired woman to a sense of morality, but again all he received was a hard constant silence.

Kouga's jaw visibly clenched as he forcibly restrained his rising temper.

"Alright, have it your way." He sighed heavily.

"But, you know your stomach isn't going to out last mine? The little tyke is probably getting grouchy for some breakfast as we speak!" Kouga added dryly.

He hadn't wanted to play this card but he had seen no other option. If he couldn't rely on Kagome's affection towards him, he could always motivate her with the love for her child. He was sure of it.

A few silent moments ticked by and just when Kouga began to doubt his own ploy the low clinking of the bathroom door lock filled the quiet void.

"Oh thank god!" Kouga sighed instantly clawing his way to his feet and twisting the dulled silver knob outwards and pushing slightly.

The door eased open without any resistance and instantly Kouga was greeted by the dim overhead lights blurred glow and the sight of the woman who had avoided him for the better part of the night.

Knees tucked firmly to chest and jaw resting on the bend of her silken legs Kagome sat coiled tightly at the rim of her drained bathtub visibly reluctant and recoiled.

With a heavy self reassuring breath Kouga stepped forward until he stood over her and the oddly colored bath. Tiredly staring down at her tense form.

"I don't feel like talking." Kagome stated firmly. Her slightly redden hazel eyes staring ahead blankly and refusing to grace the wolf demon beside her with a single glance.

"Fair enough. We'll just sit." Kouga breathed submissively. With a hard sigh he knelt down until he was sitting at the tub rim his naked back pressed firmly to the cold stone of the outside of the bath.

His vision purposely facing ahead to avoid direct eye contact with the clearly still on edge priestess at his back.

"I don't want to do that either." Kagome said coldly glaring at the back of Kouga's head defensively.

Kouga chuckled dryly before replying.

"Honestly, neither do I. I've been sitting for hours. Pretty sure my ass is asleep." He smirked.

Instantly Kouga felt the tension in the room intensify, and without looking he could tell Kagome was now glaring daggers at him.

His hands braced on top either knob of his knees lifted slightly as he shrugged his shoulders apologetically.

"Sorry. I know you're not in the mood." He breathed admittedly.

He took a deep breath laying his weary head back against the hard curve of the bathtubs rim as he stared up at the textured ceiling.

"I think we've established sleepovers aren't the best idea for either of us?" Kouga whispered exhaustedly to himself more then anyone else.

"You could've gone home." Kagome stated firm and direct.

"True-" Kouga breathed eyes closed but with a wolfish grin.

"But then I wouldn't have gotten that lip lock." He smirked.

"Don't." Kagome's harsh tone cut through any attempt at humor Kouga had tried to muster. One glance while gazing at her through the corner of his eye, told him she was in no way ready to joke about what had transpired between them.

Kouga cleared his throat lowly, this was going to be more difficult then he originally thought.

"Kagome, what happened between-" He began levelheadedly.

"I kissed you!" Kagome shouted angrily. The humiliation of admitting her action out loud causing the tears she had tired to hide re-emerge more heavy then before.

Desperate to hide her defeat she cupped her hands over her heated face mortified, she could be brought so low with such a few exchange of words.

"I'm a horrible person." She sobbed unevenly behind her clenched fingers.

"No." Kouga protested harshly while forcing himself to sit up until he was now braced on the tub rim just at Kagome's side.

"What the hell makes you think that?" He asked angrily, his frustration fueled by how harshly Kagome judged herself for something so meager.

"It didn't mean anything Kagome." Kouga stated surprisingly matter of factly and unshakably certain.

"How would you know?" Kagome snapped pulling her shielding hands away to face the wolf demon glare for tear stained glare.

What made Kouga think he knew her so well? What made him think he knew anything about her or what she was going through!?

Kouga went silent at the look of intensity Kagome was currently giving him. Through her tear blurred eyes and all. She looked so, upset. More then he had ever seen, and he liked to think he had seen a lot of her deeper emotions as of late.

"I-Inuyasha-" Kagome began in a trembling voice, her posture visibly shaken at the mere mention of the half demons name.

"He hasn't even been gone for more then-" Kagome's already unstable voice wavered as she tore her gaze away from Kouga's brighten orbs.

"Yet, here I am. Kissing his rival-" Kagome whispered brokenly clawing away another row of fresh hot tear that began to cut down her already flushed cheeks.

What kind of mate was she? Throwing herself the way she had at the one man that would have undoubtedly made the half demon she still loved turn over in his grave.

She was a monster!

Kouga didn't need anything further to see what the weight of something that should have been meaningless was doing to the woman at his side.

It stung to see her so upset, so venerable and hurt and knowing there was little he could do to help the situation.

But that didn't mean he wasn't about to try, all the same.

"Kagome, stop. Don't do this to yourself? This isn't your fault." Kouga said confidently and in attempt to console the clearly emotionally wounded priestess.

"No? Then who's is it?" Kagome replied sharply and her tone full of sarcasm.

But instead of feed into her grief fueled anger, Kouga's reply in a simple statement what he knew to be true.

"Your pregnancies." He said calmly.

Kagome blinked in instant disbelief. Had she honestly heard the wolf demon right?

"What?" She asked dumbfounded and temporarily distracted from her own self aimed anger.

"What does me being pregnant have to do with anything?" She asked frustratedly.

"You're hormonal, Kagome." Kouga shot back directly, trying to make Kagome see past her no doubt unconvinced attitude.

His statement clearly caught the priestess off guard and he intended to take full advantage in explaining the situation she apparently hadn't realized she had fallen into.

"Look,-" Kouga began evenly.

"I might not know a whole lot about humans. But, I do know a thing or two about demons." He continued smooth and calm.

"And what happens when their with child.-" Kouga's stated his gaze temporarily falling towards Kagome's concealed navel.

The slightly less bleary eyed priestess adjusted in her bathtub seat, her hazel eyes gleaming up at Kouga with questioning. It was clear he now had her attention.

"For one, you urges and wants are totally unbalanced. It's normal to desire affection during your pregnancy. But, with demon pregnancy that need is pretty much tripled. Along with a verity of other things." Kouga added with a node of his stiff neck.

Kagome shook her head slightly from side to side in absolute disbelief.

"I-I'm getting taken over by my hormones? Is that what your trying to tell me?" Kagome asked in complete reluctance.

Kouga's only response was a coy smirk, and all to suddenly Kagome had her answer.

She stared down at her lap in radiating shock. Something so simple, explained so much. Why she was feeling her 'want's' as intensely as she was. Why she was finding it so hard to control her own actions and cravings.

But as many answers as she had just revived one still lingered.

"W-Why haven't I heard about this!? Where was the pamphlet on this!?" Kagome demanded thinking back to her last visit to Kouga's referred dr.

She had received dozens of brochures on topics pertaining to her pregnancy, but nothing on this particular subject! She certainly would have remembered!

Kouga chuckled loudly at the look of acceptance laced shock written on the raven haired beauties face at his side.

"Sorry. Science hasn't quite caught up to this magnificent cycle yet." Kouga smirked teasingly.

Kagome breathed her first non cry laced breath in what seemed like days. An undeniable wave of relief crashing down over her at this sudden realization.

"So I'm not a terrible human being?" Kagome asked with a sniffle needing just a bit more reassurance for her own peace of mind.

Kouga smirked a fangy grin while shaking his head slightly from side to side.

"No." He promised, but a hint of misleading lingering in his darken tone.

"You're just horny." He added.

"Kouga!" Kagome shouted her cheeks instantly flaming three shades darker!

"The beauty of pregnancy." Kouga laughed jokingly, but still feeling the urge to agitate the blushing priestess at his side just a bit more.

She after all had made this night quite miserable for him, and he was owed just a piece or so of much wanted pay back.

"Just warn me next time you feel a wave coming on. Don't want you ripping off my cloths just yet?" Kouga grinned wide and prideful.

"G-Get out!" Kagome demanded her hand fisting around a conveniently placed bar of soap before she flung it full force at the still beaming wolf demon.

Kouga dodged it all to easily with a dip of his head.

"Flashes of anger? I've heard about this too." He chuckled.

Kagome felt her face heat with anger and the all to familiar feeling of agitation build inside her, but it was all to dulled by her relief and the sight of Kouga being so supportive and non judgmental before her.

It only took an instant but it happened all the same her anger fueled snarls melted away into nothing but rich unchecked laughter.

She sank back down into the empty tub her arms crossing over her stomach tightly as she tried to regain her uneven breath.

With the soft bottom of her palm she wiped away a lone tear that had begun to form from her laughter before finding the nerve to face the wolf demon now kneeling eye level with her just inches from her side.

She sighed heavily but smiled all the same.

"This isn't going to get any easier is it?" She asked happily but with an all to clear layer of exhaustion thrown in.

Kouga crossed his muscular arms over the tub rim with a smirk before reaching forward and tugging a soft lock of Kagome's hair away from the corner of her mouth that in all the commotion had accidentally gotten stuck too.

" 'Fraid not." He smirked.

Kagome couldn't help but smile back whole heartedly. Things may not get easier, but at least she had Kouga to help keep her sane.

Angry, and frustrated beyond all belief, but sane. And, on more then one occasion. Happy.

"Come on. Get dressed and we'll go get some breakfast." Kouga smiled climbing to his feet and extending his hand outwards to grasp Kagome's helping her to stand as well.

Once she was upright he turned towards the door and managed to make it halfway over the threshold before taking one more moment to tease Kagome while he still could.

"I'll try not to eat my food to…erotically." Kouga whispered darkly but clear with a hint of fake sensuality.

Kagome felt her cheeks flame once more but just when she reached for the next within reach thing to throw at the brazen wolf demon he had already retreated to safety behind the now barely sealed door.

Kagome glared after the no doubt fleeing wolf demon with unbelievable frustration, but at the same time contentment.

With a half formed smile she stared down at her once again defeated form.

Only this time her soften palm falling to her hidden navel rubbing the every growing ball that was becoming her stomach.

"What are you doing to me?" She whispered.

Steam filled the pine scented air as heavy iron squealed against thick railing track rows. A blaring horn whistling out through the barren hill side as a thinning line of hunched figures loaded the gradually moving silver train.

Just as the last soul loaded off the ever fading platform two sprinting forms came barreling from the distance and towards the barely opened train car leaping impossibly far to grip hold of the welded handle.

"Come on!" One onyx colored eyed man yelled to the other as he helped pull his wobbling partner into the safety of the now fully pumping train.

"You just had to make us late!?" He shouted through clenched sharpen teeth.

"Since when have we ever been on time?" A flattened mohawk wearing man asked adjusting his badly aged and weathered backpack that his best friend had used to anchor him into the train cart.

"There's a first time for everything!" The blue grayed haired man snarled as he pried open one of the empty cabins by the sliding door.

"It's to early for this!" The spiky haired man yawned throwing himself face first onto the cushioned bench as his travel companion began to tug himself out of his ripped coat and pack.

"Quit whining. You're gonna sleep the whole way there anyways." The beady eyed stranger stated sharply.

"Good idea." The silver haired traveler noted sarcastically putting a pointed nail thumb upwards in agreement.

"You're hopeless." The other sighed as he threw himself back into the opposite seating bench. His visibly tired eyes staring out towards the shifting and ever green landscape.

"What's with the face?" The still currently face planted man asked half muffled by the seat under his mouth.

The sitting stranger breathed deeply, his small pupils seemingly deep with thought.

"Scenery's changed since last time." He whispered.

"Usually happens after five years." The flatten traveler huffed.

"You think he misses us?" The window watching traveler asked sincerely but at the same time distant in unknown thoughts.

"Honestly?" The half hidden faced man asked while meeting his companions heavily lined gaze.

He nodded for him to continue.

"Nope. He could care less." He sighed contently turning to avoid the impact of his words.

But instead of take offense the sitting traveler only smiled wide and fangy.

"You suck at lying." He chuckled.

It was hidden but on the other side of the bench the buried faced demon, smiled himself.

Tightly clutched stacks of what seemed like dozens of thick stainless paper seemed to weigh a ton in Kagome's soften hands.

Then again responsibility was a heavy thing to carry.

The day had started out a disaster but had ended in promise after she and Kouga had parted ways for him to attended whatever it was he needed to dedicate himself too. While she had made the best of the rainless day to explore the city for much wanted employment opportunities.

Sure most of the job applications she was currently clinging to were for local coffee shops and restaurants but it was a fresh start! And she felt proud of hunting down so many potential choices for her own self reliance!

Even if she did have to take a taxi to one of the furthest parts of the city, a part that in all actuality was the complete opposite direction of her home.

Than again thinking about that certain joyless voyage of a conversationless ride, something about the navy cab driver hadn't sat well with her.

The weathered and aged face man had ignored her at every attempt of suggesting a more accurate route to the places she had wanted to go. She after all had lived in Japan for the better part of her entire life.

Yet, here she stood. On a heavily busy city corner way off the locations she had actually intended to navigate towards.

Kagome sighed heavily. Oh well, it was hard to be negative after such an optimistic day. She could probably guide herself home from here. It would just take her a little longer then expected.

Tucking the neatly held applications of future work offers securely into her over the shoulder purse she began to solider forward.

The warm spring air tossing her loosely braided hair so it laid evenly over her v-neck navy dress colored shoulder.

Kagome walked forward with a content smile on her slightly glossed lips. Her leather thigh length boots squeaking slightly with every step but it was easily drowned out by the sound of cars and dozens of people scurrying by.

It would have been a lie if Kagome didn't admit she missed the peace of tranquility of the feudal era. But, walking like this. Amongst mass groups of strangers and hearing the sound of car horns in the distance. It felt homey and familiar.

She would have lingered on the thought more but the sudden buzzing sensation of her purse pressed securely to her hip alerted her to a call she was receiving.

With one quick zip she retrieved the small square device Kouga had purchased her. Knowing full well the azure eyed wolf was on the other end seeing as she had yet to give her new number out to any other person.

"Yes?" Kagome answered not bothering to hide her annoyance.

She had hated giving into one of Kouga's extravagant presents but if it would keep the wolf demon from barging into her home and life at the most inopportune moments just to 'check' on her. She could handle one such present for the time being.

"See? Isn't this nice? Me getting in touch with you? You know, without committing a felony?" Kouga's smug voiced asked directly into Kagome's ear.

"Ha. Ha" Kagome stated humorlessly. She could practically see his cocky smirk flash before her eyes.

"Where are you? I'm almost done at the sight. Feel like dinner?" He asked casually.

Kagome hesitated for a reply. It was getting late in the day, and she was beginning to feel that familiar gnawing in her stomach.

But, she wasn't about to surrender that easily. She had tolerated enough from Kouga for one day.

"If I get to cook it." Kagome questioned but there wasn't a trace of asking in her direct tone.

She heard Kouga groan on the other end of the line before his response.

"Aren't pregnant woman suppose to hate being on their feet?" He asked sarcastically

"Kouga." Kagome warned leadingly. Leaving the absent wolf demon time to recover without walking directly into an argument.

"Alright. Deal." He huffed defeatedly.

"Meet at your house in ten?" He asked more optimistically.

Kagome paused mid step glancing around her unfamiliar surroundings.

"Um, more like an hour?" She hinted. After all it would take her a little while to gain her bearings.

"Oh? Gotta get fixed up first?" Kouga asked jokingly, but a hint of enthusiasm was clear.

"No." Kagome cut him off bluntly. "I have to find my way back. I'm a little off coarse." She admitted levelly.

The speaker pressed to Kagome's ear lobe vibrated slightly as Kouga chuckled on the other end.

"And here I thought you had a good sense of direction?" He asked, annoyingly accurate.

Kagome rolled her eyes tiredly. This is why she was happy she had some time to herself, even if she did have to lie to get it.

She hadn't been bold enough to bring up the entire job hunting situation again to the absent wolf, so she had simply stated she was going shopping.

Of course Kouga thought it was his money she was going to use, so he had been all for it. The azure eyed demon was in for a surprise, when his balance was the exact same as it had been when they had parted.

"Tell me where you are? I can be there in a few minutes." Kouga stated confidentially.

Kagome peered up from the well manicured sidewalk she had been traveling along to the row of bookstores and side walk cafés lining the streets beside her.

Nothing looked significant as a land mark, aside from the large crimson electronic letters flashing across a large screen further down the busy intersection.

"W. End District." Kagome said reading the sign quickly and out loud.

She expected Kouga to come up with some snappy remark about how he was on his way to come rescue her, but instead a noticeable and eerily silent pause filled her ear.

"You're in the western part of the city?" Kouga asked, his tone lacking any trace of joking or mockery.

"Apparently." Kagome smiled, wondering to herself why had he gotten so serious all of a sudden?

"Why? Is it going to rain?" Kagome asked lightly trying to coax the wolf demon she knew into returning.

But her attempt at humor fell far short as Kouga's jarring tone cut through her moderately happy mood like a hot knife through butter.

"Kagome listen to me! What street are you on? I need you to find a sign now!" Kouga demanded in her ear.

Kagome felt her posture instantly change at the seriousness of his voice. Her shoulders arcing back and her legs tensing in place as she turned from side to side to locate an actual reliable location point.

"T-The one I'm beside says 'Pride Avenue'?" Kagome said timidly.

"Pride?" Kouga repeated in a tone that sounded much more like he was talking to himself then her.

"Okay. I need you to turn right. Go completely straight until you see a large stone fountain. Do not stop until I get there, and don't talk to anyone!" Kouga demanded.

"Kouga? You're kind of scaring me. What's going on?" Kagome questioned, this didn't make sense. What did her being in a certain area of the city have to do with anything? And what did he mean don't speak to anyone? She had talked to dozens of people today.

Granted they were mostly business owners, but still people. Why was he acting this way? So overly cautious? Almost like he was-

"Kagome! Go!" Kouga snapped and all thoughts of questioning the clearly panicked wolf demon further dissipated in an instant.

"Okay." Kagome breathed doing exactly as Kouga had instructed. Taking a sharp turn towards the right and doing her best to keep her eyes on hew own two feet as she zigzagged out of countless groups of blurred faces.

All the while clinging to the voice pressed to her ear remarkably tightly.

It was almost as though Kouga could see she was following his instructions to perfection as his next set of directions came all to quickly.

"Now hang up the phone. Don't draw any attention to yourself. I'll call you back in five minutes, exactly!" Kouga promised in a tone that was both forceful yet laced with worry.

Kagome didn't have the opportunity to reply as the line went dead and she was forced to pull the small cellular device away from her ear robotically.

How was she expected not to draw attention to herself? She felt as though she was now sweating bullets! Taking a deep breath she tried to compose herself but all the while not daring to lighten up her stomping feet in their noticeably hurried pace.

If she could just get to this fountain, she would be okay. Right? What was she evening trying to hide from? Kouga had given her virtually nothing but strict paranoia! Yet, she trusted the wolf demon with her life and if he was concerned then so was she!

Kagome swallowed hard as an unknown figure accidentally brushed against her while she tried to keep her pace amongst the throng of people she was currently engulfed by.

Even if she had drawn the attention of some unknown figure she never would have known it. There was just to many people to keep track!

The fear of that reality was beginning to make her blood run cold until finally the crowd temporarily parted revealing that she was now on a street corner to a busy intersection of cars.

But the roaring by vehicles wasn't what held her attention the most. On the other side of the river of road rage, a glorious and impossible to miss fountain laid on the other side.

Kagome breathed a sigh of relief even if only temporary. She would just have a seat on its stone rim and wait for Kouga. He would come for her and then explain why he had caused her to have this slight panic attack.

All she had to do was wait for the light beaming on the other side of the packed walked way to change.

Just when the thought crossed her mind the blinking electro lit hand turned to a walking figure and the bunched group of people Kagome camouflaged amongst began to move.

She felt so much lighter with the absence of worry, that was until all that relief and fading stressed turned to jarring fear and surprise.

A hard hand gripped hold of her shoulder forcing her to freeze in place and automatically she spun to face what was most likely the biggest 'man' she had ever seen.

A mountain of bulged muscle stuffed into a no doubt overly priced suit, and a face hard as stone glaring down at her through tight jet black sun glasses.

"Mrs. Higurashi?" The impossibly large stranger asked short and cold.

Kagome blinked in horror as the ocean of people she thought she had hidden herself within began to thin leaving her standing there with beast of a man she knew she didn't have a prayers chance of trying to fight herself away from.

"Y-Yes?" Kagome replied dumbfounded by panic.

"Please. Step inside the vehicle." The suit dressed stranger said, much more a demand then an actual question as his chiseled jaw tilted towards a charcoal black stretch limousine Kagome only now realized had been parked just to her side this entire time.

The luxury door conveniently open another equally if not larger man standing by the heavily tinted glass silently threatening her to accept their command.

In an instant Kagome weighed her options. If she screamed, she doubted a soul would hear her over the blaring of car horns and passer buyers on their cell phones talking loudly about their days. Fighting wasn't even a consideration, she would have been over powered with one of these boulder like men with just their pinkies if need be.

So that left her one, and only one option.

Stepping forward almost as if to consent to their demanding Kagome walked towards the open car door. But at the last possible moment jilted to the side, kicking her heels so hard onto the concrete she was sure she would have taken flight from the speed she would have created.

Sadly she would never know. Seeing through her deception like wet paper one of the mountain like beast gripped hold of her shoulders and without so much as a hint of resistance. She was thrown into the backseat of the vehicle the door slamming shut and locked tight behind her.

By the time Kagome had sat up in the leather interior both goons were loaded into the front behind a thick slab of spotless jet black glass and they were peeling away down the street.

Kagome felt her heart drop into her stomach. This wasn't some kind of dream or vague misunderstanding. She was being kidnapped!

With that horrific realization a lone ray of hope cut through her suffocating thoughts as her purse began to ring.

Desperately Kagome tore at her bag until she held her phone for dear life pressing the answer button so hard she thought it might break.

"Are you at the fountain?" Kouga asked before Kagome could even muster a word.

"Kouga! I-I'm in a car! Some men grabbed me! I don't know where they're taking me!" Kagome practically shouted so overcome with fear tears didn't even have time to form before she began sobbing.

"Stay on the phone! I'm coming!" Kouga's roaring voice shouted.

"Kou-" Kagome began in a pleading tone. About to beg the wolf demon to be as fast as he possibly could, but just when the question formed the familiar sound of the dial tone filled her ear.

Kagome tore the device away from her ear to stare down at her brighten screen in horror as the words 'Call Blocked' flashed across her screen.

Even more impossibly panicked then before Kagome punched in Kouga's number once more to the same effect, this time not even a single ring going through before the call was lost all together.

Kagome swallowed down her terror. It was clear she was on her own, and if she wanted to escape this she had to start thinking and fast!

Clawing her way across the wide and empty row of seats she sat upon she lunged for the heavily darken window staring out at the blurred city flashing her by. Relentlessly she scanned for some sort of clue as to who was behind this.

But, nothing reveled itself. Just massive towers of shimmering glass buildings each one getting larger and more extravagant then the last.

Then when all seemed redundant, one lone colossal like structure gleamed in the distance. So tall and mighty above all the others it actually looked like it ascended towards the clouds.
And ironic enough it was this castle like man built marvel that the limo she was currently trapped inside was racing towards.

Kagome swallowed hard. She didn't know who was behind this or what they wanted from her, but they were going to regret the day they dared to cross her and her unborn child!

Protectively Kagome's hand clutched her slightly swollen navel.

"Don't worry." She whispered reassuringly.

"Mommy's s got this." She vowed.

And the plot thickens! Who are the new arrivals? Two guess! Really it should only take you one. But! What about Kagome? Who is she being delivered to? No guesses on that one. It's pretty obvious lol.
