Confusion
"Get me a medic now." Arthur shouted.
Feet ran and shuffled around the habit at the sudden command. Arthur ran to the thermostat and checked the temperature. It read 29 degrees so he raised it to 90 and heard the heater click on. Francis came barreling in just as he moved away from the dial. Two people were trying to talk to him at the same time. Francis had to stop one from talking to listen to the other.
Francis looked to his left and noticed Arthur, "What happened in here I wasn't even gone two minutes. And why is it freezing in here?"
"In the cage where the beasts were, there are two people in there now. It was 29 degrees I just turned on the heater. You examine, do your job." Arthur said pushing Francis into the now opened cage.
The Frenchman got started by having his assistant pull the young child away and wrapped her/him into a blanket that had an electric heater in it. The older of the two had lower body heat then the young one so his body was moved to larger heating pad. Two thick blankets were wrapped tightly around him. A monitor was hooked up to him to hear the slowly increasing heartbeat and see his rising temperature.
"Is that one doing alright?" Francis asked.
"Yes, everything is rising." The assistant said.
When the man's temperature reached a better range Francis pulled out his hand from the sheet. He pinched the other man's fingernail to check for dehydration. When the red can back quickly he knew that he did not have to get an IV. Just before he moved the hand back under the blanket a lump on the man's hand caught his attention. Poking and moving it around gave it the shape of a tracking chip they use for their animals.
"Arthur can you bring me the scanner?" Francis asked
"Why?" Arthur raised an eyebrow.
"Just bring it here."
Arthur just grumbled and brought the tool over. He watched as Francis scanned over then hand. Francis's face turned into shock after the device beeped. Arthur grabbed the tool out of the Frenchman's hand. If he was reading it right then the man was Alfred. That was not possible, there was no creature that could turn into humans. Unlike popular speculations even the merpeople did not get legs when they were dry.
He went over to the young one and scanned its right hand. The readings came back as Amelia. His head could not grasp around the concept that these beings could shift back and forth. That was one creature that did not exists was werewolves. Even a few of the other creatures found in North America like the wendigo or the skin walkers even said that nothing of the sort existed. Arthur could not help staring at the older one.
His staring was interrupted by the heart monitor behind him going crazy. Turning around he was meet with the frightened eyes of the young one. She was trying to get out of the blanket she was wrapped in, with no avail. After she figured she was getting out her eyes turned to the older one. A few of her cries rang out that made the older one stir a little.
"Calm down." Arthur softly spoke. "Can you speak?"
She nodded her head.
"What's your name?"
"Amelia."

"Come on Vash let's go!" Lilli exclaimed.
"They are still going to be there, Lilli."
"But Vash."
"We are heading there Lilli you don't have to rush."
Lilli turned around and looked at her older brother. She stopped dead in her tracks and just stared him down. Vash just looked at his sister not knowing what he next move would be. In one swift movement Lilli turned on her heels and ran at her full speed away from her brother. She loved her brother but sometimes she had to pick with him a bit. Vash let out a quiet curse and ran after his sister. When they got to the door he saw Lilli swipe a card and rush in. He patted his pants pocket.
That little sneaky thief! He thought.
He watched as his sister stop running forward and come to a complete stop. Vash got closer to Lilli to see people rushing around in a panic. When he grabbed someone he said that the beasts had disappeared and there are people in there now. Vash knew that he and Lilli were just going to get in the way if he added to the panic, so he let the medics do their jobs. He got closer when he saw the little one stir.
Lilli was bouncing on her feet wanting to look at the little girl. Vash watched as Kiku walked in for the start of his shift. He watched as the Japanese man just looked confused at all the running around. One of the workers grabbed Kiku and shook him out of his confused state to drag him away, explaining the situation. She quickly became panicked when she saw the different faces rushing around her.
The child quickly sat up and started scooching away from the unfamiliar faces. Terror swept across her face as her face went from one face to another. Once her eyes reached Kiku she jumped up and sprinted into his legs. Kiku winced as he felt the child's claws dig into his thigh. The child just tried to get as close to him as possible while making the most heart breaking whines possible.
When Kiku was able to pry the younger one's claws out of his leg he lifted her up only for her to cling to him like a parasite. The whine calmed down a little but was still noticeable in his ear. Kiku started rubbing circles on the child's back hoping to calm her even farther. Another employee came to place a blanket around the poor girl, tucking the edges in around her body.
"Kiku, you can go and try and calm her down." Vash asked. "And please go away from all this mess."
Kiku nodded and went into the employee breakroom and sat down at the table. The whines had turned into sniffles and his shirt was starting to get wet. He started bouncing his leg and patting the child back in hopes of comforting her. After a while she stopped and her breathing evened out signaled she had fallen asleep. Kiku leaned back in the chair and let the poor child sleep.
After about thirty minutes Vash walked in, "What happened?"
"She fell asleep about thirty minutes ago." Kiku responded.
"Well considering what had just happened it would be exhausting on anyone."
"Is she okay?" Lilli asked peeking her head in the door.
Vash nodded, "Yeah, she is fine."
Lilli walked closer and moved the child's hair aside, "She is cute for her age."
"Yeah but what is her real age?" Kiku asked.
"What do you mean?" Vash questioned.
Kiku looked down at the sleeping child in his arms, "Well when we first found out that they could talk Alfred said that he had scars from the Seven Years War. If he is as old as he says, how old can she be?"
Vash raised an eyebrow, "Good question."

Francis could not understand why the man was not waking up. The breathing was stable and his temperature was back into the normal range. There was no movement at all despite his breathing, not even a finger twitch. Francis was just puzzled on why he did not wake like the child. He got up and walked to the break room where Kiku walked off too.
"Is she awake?" He asked just as he walked through the door.
"She fell asleep about forty minutes ago." Kiku explained.
Francis just scratched his beard, "The bigger one still has not woken up."
"He should come around with time." Vash said.
"Kiku can I hold her?" Lilli asked.
Vash gave his sister a deranged look, "I don't think that's a good idea. She's attached to Kiku more so I fear if she wakes and does not see him she will start fighting to get away."
Lilli just down casted her eyes, "But."
"How about when she wakes up I introduce you to her and we'll see where it goes from in there." Kiku said.
"I like that plan better." Vash quickly agreed.
Lilli huffed, "Alright."

Groggily Alfred's eyes started to open on their own accord, he just wanted them to stay closed. Listening to his body he started moving each one of his limbs to make sure they were all there and working. When his senses came back to him he did not feel his daughter's presence beside him like he usually does when they sleep. He started moving in arm on the side of him to find the small body. For some reason he didn't feel like she was in any danger so he let the idea that Amelia wasn't around him slide.
When he sat up he cracked his back, shoulders, and neck. Finally he pried his eyes the rest of the way open he saw one of the workers run off into another room. Without turning his head he heard four sets of footstep heading his way and his daughter's smell getting stronger. Alfred got to his feet making sure to grip the shroud on his hip to make sure nothing became exposed. When he looked up he saw Amelia in some strange girl's arms and they were giggling.
"Nice to know you are finally awake, your daughter woke up about ten minutes ago. We didn't think you would wake up anytime soon." The man Alfred remembered as Francis said.
"Daddy!" Amelia shouted from the lady's arms. When the woman set her down she ran right over and into Alfred's legs. "You finally woke up."
Alfred picked his daughter and set her on his hip, "Had fun while I was out?"
"Yeah Lilli is really nice and she tied my shroud like this hehe. I woke up in Uncle Kiku's arms it was really warm." She beamed.
"Glad you had fun baby."
"I hope she wasn't too much of a bother."
"Not at all." Kiku responded. "I think when she woke up she went under too much stress at one time so she slept it off."
Alfred breathed deeply, 'Well she can be quite a handful in either form."
"If you don't mind me cutting in your friendly conversation; what the fuck is going on here?" Arthur interjected.
"Would you hold your language in front of my daughter, I don't need her learning those words." Alfred glared.
"Fine if that's how I have to do it. Start from the beginning, how can you change and why?" Arthur glared back at Alfred.
"I'm curious about that as well." Vash said. "There is no other creature that can change between forms. And if I'm not mistaken Kiku said that when they found out that that you can talk you said that you have scars from 259 years ago."
"It's true I was around 200 years old by the time that happened, after so long you stop counting."
"So you are saying that you can be around 460 years old, give and take a few years?" Vash questioned.
"Yeah, around that." Alfred scratched his head.
"That makes no sense, no creature can live that long and still be as young looking as you." Arthur exclaimed.
"Have you ever had sirens that had children or even the golems, what about a Phoenix?" Alfred said looking at each one of the group individually.
"Well…no." Vash said. "We have tried but no luck."
"Exactly, before sirens used to be killed by sailors so they needed to reproduce to keep their numbers up, so before they killed the men they captured they mated and had children. Now because most of them are in capacity they don't need to reproduce to keep their numbers up because none of them are being killed. Sirens are immortal but can be killed with easy measures. Golems are made of stone there is no need for them to have children because they don't die, not even when you whack their heads off. Phoenixes just get reborn out of their own ashes, the cycle repeats itself over and over there is no end."
"Those are exceptions though." Arthur answered.
"Then explain why I am here you can do a DNA test and see how far it goes back. Amelia is my first child after all my years of living. There are not a lot of us, probably about 500 or so in my village. It is very hard for my kind to reproduce so children are very special gifts to us."
"So there are more of you?" Kiku questioned.
"Yes were all around the world but as you can tell I'm living proof that my kind can blend in the human population. What do humans call us…'werewolves' uh 'lycans', I think those the words I'm looking for."
"I read some books from Dylan's room about one of those." Amelia exclaimed. "A man transformed on the full moon and went on a rampage attacked the entire town killing everybody. Ain't that funny, only able to transform on a full moon I'll get cranky if I can't run around at least once a day."
"At least you admit it, hun." Alfred said kissing Amelia's forehead.
"I do have a few questions for you at least." Vash stepped forward.
"Ask away."
'If you don't mind we would like a blood sample for you and her, just to check. Where is Amelia's mother? What forms do you prefer to sleep in because we can get some beds in here with some appliances to help you relax and little while we get this all figured out?" Vash asked.
"Go ahead with the blood samples, do what you must. That is a story for when she is not around and when I am ready to tell you. We usually sleep in our beast forms but a bed will do, just make sure it's a full or queen size since Amelia sleeps with me. Some appliances would be good, a television perhaps. My last request is can we get some clothes please, these shrouds stay with us as long as we are in this form but I rather not if you don't mind."
"That all can be arranged. We will also keep the cage door open so you will be able to adjust the temperature to your liking and turn or dim the lights when you are ready to sleep. Also we will also put another refrigerator in the break room just for you two filled with food you will be able to cook because there is a stove, a microwave, and utensils and plates for you to use. There are also bathrooms in there with a shower so we can get you some shampoo and soap."
"You know I can slip through those bars easily right. And why is there a shower in the bathroom when it is just a breakroom." Alfred said pointing to behind him with his thumb.
"Not in your beast form. There are like 4 bathrooms in where only two of them have showers though. Sometimes our employees get really dirty dealing with the creatures so they usually have a spare change of clothes so they just take a shower here." Vash countered.
"Touché." Alfred laughed.
~Mysterious Beast~
"The results will probably be in with a few hours." Francis said.
They were all sitting in the break room. Amelia went with Lilli to go get them a pair of clothes, until they can get more. Currently Vash, Kiku, Arthur, and Alfred were sitting just chatting about everything Alfred knew from the past 400 years he has been alive. It surprised them to found out that he fought on the Patriots side during the Revolutionary War.
"Now that Amelia not here, what happened to her mother?" Arthur questioned.
"How did I know this was going to come up." Alfred sighed resting against the back of his seat. "Well if you want to know what I have to start from the beginning. Amelia's mother came in my village about 200 years ago running from the village he was in."
"Wait did you just say 'he'?" Arthur questioned.
"Yes, Amelia's mother was a man. You do know about Alphas, Betas, Gammas, Deltas, and Omegas, right."
"A little not in full details, it varies from species to species."
"Well you're fixing to learn." Alfred said cracking his back.

HAPPY NEW YEARS!
Hey guys it's Phantom here. I'm back for the most part. I was originally set to start posting back in August but nothing ever goes my way. The flash drive that had ALL my stories broke, it snapped in half when I was moving a box and the box caught it. I just sat on the floor for a good thirty minutes with so many emotions going though my head because I was even going to update the stories on Wattpad but that vanished as well. I was so distraught but I am lucky that I was able to pull everything off of Fanfiction. On the down side of that I had to revise and rewrite everything that I had changed (if you don't go back and reread you won't miss anything). I am still trying to catch up because I was most three chapters ahead in every published work but I have to remember everything for those and it is hard. Right now I am two chapters a head in this story because it is Alfred's back story so it was easy to finish.
Right now I am holding two jobs because how the oil field is I am not making many hours to support myself. If I don't update regularly please do not be mad at me. All my hobbies got pushed to the back burner while all this is happening but I assure you on the rare day I have off I am either working on my stories or cleaning my house so things are still getting done.
And as always I see you again in another chapter!
