Misguided Light

Chapter 8

A young boy watched Leia through the green leaves of a bush. He had blonde hair and blue eyes.

"Who are you?" Leia asked, walking closer. Leia herself couldn't be more than eight. She was on Alderaan again, just outside the Organa's home.

"Can we be friends?" The boy asked, ignoring Leia's earlier statement.

"Of course," Leia replied.

The boy smiled, "Good-bye."

The boy and the garden disappeared in a burst of light, leaving Leia gasping for breath. She suddenly felt someone behind her and found her mother staring back at her.

Leia had never seen her mom look like that. Her hair was pulled back and tears were streaming down her beautiful face. She seemed to be in pain.

"Mom?"

"I don't believe what I'm hearing!" Padmé cried out, "Obi-Wan was right...you've changed!"

"Mom, what are you talking about?! It's me! It's your Leia!"

"You're breaking my heart! You're going down a path I can't follow!" Leia reached out, trying to get to her mother, desperate to reassure her that everything was alright, but Padmé suddenly clutched her throat.

"MOM!" Leia cried as the former queen began to choke to death. Padmé collapsed on the ground, unconscious as her daughter watched, unable to do anything.

"This is all your fault!" A voice snarled from behind her. Leia spun around and found herself facing Vader on the Death Star. He looked so much like the young boy Leia had seen on Alderaan earlier.

"I didn't do anything!" Leia cried out.

"Princess," a voice whispered.

"You will turn or you will die," Vader warned, igniting his lightsaber.

"Princess!" The voice was much more desperate.

"Leave me alone!" Leia begged the Dark Lord.

"LEIA!"

Leia's eyes snapped open. She blinked a few times, trying to catch her breath. Her eyes slowly focused on the women kneeling by her side. Worried brown eyes, watched her earnestly.

"Sabé?"

"Yes, it's me. I'm here to get you out," the handmaiden replied.

Leia stood up and tried to comprehend her situation. She smoothed down any flyaway hairs and took several deep breaths. She had been so emotionally and physically drained, that after Vader delivered her to her cell, she had fallen into a fitful sleep.

And now Sabé was here.

"Come on, Princess, we need to leave," the women said, offering Leia a blaster. Leia took it gratefully and the two women crept out of the cell.

"How did you get past the guards?" Leia whispered. She then noticed the bodies of the stormtroopers scattered on the floor. "Oh."

"I trained for years to do things like this," Sabé said, a small grin creeping over her face. They hurried down the long hallway, towards the lift, "They wouldn't let just anyone pretend to be Padmé Amidala."

"Well, we're going to put your training to the test," Leia replied as a lift opened revealing many armed stormtroopers. Sabé pulled Leia aside as she began firing on the incoming troopers.

"How are we gonna get out of this?" Leia cried.

"I'm trying to figure that out," was the calm reply.

Leia's eyes made her way across the hallway to an innocent looking garbage chute.

"I think I just found a way to save us," Leia said, launching herself across the hall. Sabé watched with shock as Leia shot open the garbage chute. "Are you coming?" Leia cried, throwing herself down the chute. Sabé followed

oOoOo

Luke had once laughed at Stormtroopers. Sitting at a table between Mara and Starkiller, mocking the poor men who weren't skilled enough to show their faces while on duty. He had outranked the white armored soldiers at the age of six. Now, however, Luke pitied them.

The armor was awkward and bulky. Luke could barely see, let alone shoot. It was amazing that people still feared the Empire when stormtroopers couldn't shoot straight because of their uniform. Not to mention the fact that Luke was too short for the armor he had snagged.

"Where are we going?" Han asked for the thirty-third time.

"To grab something."

"We're almost there, right?"

"Nope. We need to steal a ship and fly to Geonosis."

"You're joking, right?"

"You'll be on your way to Geonosis if you don't shut up." Luke and Han saluted as an officer passed.

Han glared at the kid as they continued with the mysterious mission. Han had pitied the kid. He had seemed so lost and unsure, even though he acted like he was so confident and tough. Luke had stuck close to the old man, even though the man clearly didn't trust the boy too much.

Even though Han didn't trust Luke, he trusted his abilities. The kid knew a lot more than he let on and he made it very clear that he didn't want to go back to the Empire. Han could respect that, he had a complex relationship with the Empire himself.

Honestly, the real reason Han was still helping the kid out was because he looked like he needed someone to take his side of things.

Luke paused outside of a door. It looked like any other door on the ship, but to Luke, it was a very important reminder of the life he was leaving. Han moved to open the door, but it was locked.

"Are you sure this is the right place?"

"Positive," Luke replied, as he reached out and unlocked the door via the Force. Vader had always been very protective of Luke. Luke always had a room next to his father's, and Luke's room was always locked so that only a Force user could get in. There were other precautions as well, so I'm the end, Luke and Vader were the only ones who could enter Luke's private rooms.

Luke hadn't stayed on the Death Star very often. His room was large though, with large windows facing the stars. In the middle of the room, dark blue couches and chairs faced a glass table. A holo-projector was on the wall opposite of the windows. A large bed with blue sheets was situated in between two large windows. The walls were black and floor was black, just like most of the Death Star.

Luke crossed the room and pulled open a small compartment built into his dresser. He dug through the compartment, pulling out random objects including, a screwdriver, a single sock, an old flyer for a laser show, and, finally, a small holo disc.

"What's that?" Han asked, leaning against the doorway.

"Information," Luke replied.

"Isn't that door supposed to be locked?" A voice drifted from the hallway.

"Stormtroopers!" Han hissed, launching into the room and locking the door.

"Open up in there!" Luke glared at Han.

"Why did you leave the door open?!" He cried.

"Because I thought you'd be quick," the smuggler replied.

"WHAT IS GOING ON HERE?!" A voice shouted from outside the door. Luke and Han paled and stared at each other in shock.

"Vader," Han hoarsely whispered, "we need to go."

"No kidding," Luke muttered, tightening his mental shields. He began frantically looking around the room for a way out. His eyes landed on the garbage chute.

"C'mon," Luke grabbed Han's arm and pulling him towards the chute. He ignited his lightsaber and slashed through the metal.

"I'm not going down there!" Han cried. Just then, a red lightsaber pierced the door, and began to cut it open. "Let me through!" Han pushed Luke away and dived into the darkness.

The last thing Luke saw before following Han was his father kicking down to his bedroom.

oOoOo

"Welcome to the party."

Luke coughed and stood up, looking around. Han was pulling off the armor, while eyeing up the two women who were standing by the door. Both girls had brown hair and brown eyes, but one was much older than the other. The younger of the two was the one who had spoken.

"And who are you?!" Han questioned.

"I'm Princess Leia Organa, of Alderaan. This is Sabé," Leia stated, arms crossed.

"I'm Luke. The scruffy one is Han."

"Hey!" Han cried out offended. A small smile graced Leia's lips. Luke couldn't help but notice how pretty she was.

"So what are you doing in here?" Sabé asked.

"Avoiding Imperials on an Imperial ship," Han replied.

"Well, maybe we can help each other," the woman replied.

"I have a ship," Han said, "And the old man is shutting down the tractor beam, so we should be clear to go, so long as we don't die on our way to the hanger."

"What old man?" Leia asked, confused.

"Obi-Wan Kenobi," Luke informed. Leia's eyes widened.

"You're with the Obi-Wan?!" Leia cried.

"Yeah," Han stated, "we can give you all, if you have the credits."

"Knock it off, Han. You're getting paid a fortune as it is," Luke sighed.

"That's all great," Sabé said, "but how are we going to get out of here? The walls are blaster proof."

"But are they lightsaber proof?" Luke asked, with a smile.

"You have a lightsaber?!" Leia asked.

"Yeah," Luke showed Leia his weapon.

"Can you get us out of here?" Sabé asked.

"I can try," was the response. Luke ignited the red blade and waded towards the door. He didn't miss the worried look Leia and Sabé shared at the color of his blade. He shoved the blade into the door and cut a large circle in the door.

The four people hurried out the trash compactor. Luke extinguished his lightsaber. As the group headed towards the docking bay, Luke found himself walking next to the Princess.

"So you're with the Alliance?"

"Yes. I plan on meeting up with them after this. Where are you going?" Leia asked.

"We were planning on going to Alderaan, but I think-"

"Alderaan?!" Leia interrupted, "Didn't you hear?! The Empire destroyed Alderaan." Leia sounded so furious, so hurt, so torn up.

"I had hoped that Alderaan has been spared," Luke said quietly, "I felt so many people die, but I didn't want to believe that they destroyed a whole planet."

"I know what you mean. That's why I'm with the Alliance. We need to make sure nothing like this happens again. You should join us. We could use more people like you," Leia said.

"People like me?" Luke said with a grin.

"Yes," was the serious reply, "People who are brave and willing to stand up against the Empire."

A genuine smile graced Luke's face, "I'd love to join you."

"Obi-Wan will be too," Leia informed, louder this time, "I was supposed to pick him up from Tatooine, but my ship was intercepted."

"Well," Han said, sliding an arm around Leia, "Let me help you with you traveling frustrations."

Leia stomped on his foot, "If you so much as look at me the wrong way ever again, I will make sure you never have children!"

Han let out a low whistle, "Feisty." Sabé smiled at this.

"You have no idea."

A/N: I didn't like this chapter to much. It didn't come out the way I wanted it too. Oh well. I won't be able to update for a while. I'm leaving for a camp tomorrow, so I wanted to post this before I left. I'm planning on going back and redoing some of the earlier chapters, so that they are nicer to read. Nothing major will change, I'll just make things pretty!

Thank you for all the reviews and love! Please tell me what you think of this chapter! Reviews make me so happy! A new chapter probably won't be up for three or four weeks. See you all then!
