A/N: Hey guys! Another chapter is here! Whoo!
The duel with Master Hand is finally here! I'm pretty sure I got the stage and everything right, but I haven't played in awhile, so if anything's wrong, just suspend reality for a second and pretend it's right.
Also, about the new 3DS/Wii U Super Smash Bros that came out. I haven't played it yet (bit out of my budget unfortunately :C ), and so know pretty much nothing about it. So, the characters won't be appearing, and this is focused mainly on Brawl, and all the things happening there. I repeat, the characters won't be appearing! (I've gotten so many things asking this, it's not even funny.)
This one was beta'd by hirodaichi, so thanks to him for making sure that everything works.
As always, reviews are welcome and very much appreciated! Enjoy!
Her muscles burned with effort as she hauled herself upwards, scrabbling for a hold on the mesh wire platform. Her legs dangled, kicking in a slight panic as Twilight Sparkle finally hauled herself up onto the rectangular platform.
The scenery changed into a swirling vortex of rainbow colors, and she struggled to regain her bearings. The platform was something you could use for construction, yet it was flying and moving insanely fast across the setting of the stage. You could barely hear anything over the wind.
Twilight let out a cry as a white obscurity whizzed past her, nicking her arm. Master Hand cracked his knuckles as he made a swift 180 degree turn to face her again, on the opposite side of the platform. Twilight grit her teeth and leapt forward, making use of that small pocket of time where the hand was inactive. She crossed the mesh swiftly, slipping slightly on the cold metal, but retaining her grip.
Master Hand floated well above her height, fingers twitching as if mocking her. She let out a grunt as she dug her heels in and launched herself upward with a powerful jump. She slammed her palms upon Master Hand's back, letting out a powerful blast with her Twilight Fire. He let out something resembling a groan, before he flew up and off screen.
She glanced upward. He didn't reappear, and there wasn't a blinding red flash of light… Where'd he go? I can't see him anywhere…This shouldn't be possi-"YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH!"
Master Hand appeared out of the distance, rocketing-literally- toward her, hand clenched into a fist. Twilight barely managed to dodge before the blur of white screamed past her and upward again, before landing at the end of the mesh.
Twilight let out a shuddering breath as the hand bobbed up and down. What in Celestia's name was THAT?! She hauled herself up again, encouraging herself with the thought that at least she knew another one of his attacks.
The hand wasn't finished quite yet, as it crunched itself up into a partial fist, his pointer and middle finger hanging down, bringing to mind a pair of legs. Then it began kicking his way forward, like a giant in a can-can dance line.
Twilight resisted the urge to let out another shriek, and scrambled back up onto her feet. The hand was approaching ever closer, the impact of the kicks nearly deafening, even with the obnoxious wind. Thinking quickly, she flung up her hands and her Twilight Sky shimmered into place. Master Hand slammed his finger into it, shattering it into shimmering shards that disappeared a few seconds after impact.
His second kick caught her right in the solar plexus, flinging her across the platform. Twilight felt her damage skyrocket as she caught herself from sliding off the edge. Winded, she caught Master Hand returning to his spot on the other end of the platform out of the corner of her eye. Twilight hauled herself painfully upwards, abdomen smarting.
She lunged forward, attacking the hand with a flurry of kicks, decreasing his health by a bit. Then, leaping backward, she set herself in a defensive stance and waited for his next attack.
"Mistress?"
An annoyed sigh filtered out of the darkness. "What is it?"
"Are you sure about this? We could easily sabotage the battle-"
"How many times do I have to say this? NO. If we did, they'd surely find us out, and we'd be out of a home and food. Again. No, it is much better to bide our time…"
The green eyes of Mistress glanced around their retreat, a dark nest of wires and pipes, stuck away in the corner of the crawlspace above the waiting room. None of the Smashers knew about this place, this command center where the items were stored. The stupid, ignorant, brawlers thought that the random items just appeared out of nowhere. Oh ho, not so. They were carefully controlled by the Hand family (or at least as "controlled" as Crazy Hand could get), placed to help move the battles along. Mistress had watched many a battle progress with Master Hand at the controls, expertly working items into the battle.
Of course, this was part of the reason why no items were allowed in the duels between Master Hand and a Smasher. Crazy was very…unreliable, and was only allowed in when Master Hand was away. So the controls sat dead, hibernating until the duel was over.
Of course, Mistress was sorely tempted- oh so sorely tempted- to trip Twilight Sparkle up with those adorable little Bomb-ombs, or maybe make it rain banana peels…
She allowed herself a little smirk, imagining that stupid princess slipping and sliding along the mesh panel battlefield. That would have made this day perfect…
But of course there were too many flaws with those desired plans to be of any use or worth to enact. Most of them ended up helping Little Miss Princess in the end, because then Mistress would be exposed consequently.
Mistress let out another sigh, smirk sliding off her face along with her good mood. This place was terrible. The meals were awful all-around and sparse, the people were morons…She felt an unwanted pang of homesickness. None of that now.
A crunching bang alerted both Mistress and minion to a new presence in their makeshift nest. The minion bared his teeth, letting out a quite hiss. Mistress silenced him with a look, her green eyes fading into the darkness as she slunk away.
"Pit? Are you up here?"
Oh. Of course. The tiaraed blunette, looking for his friend. Mistress licked her lips, salivating at the thought of using him for a meal. He had it all- all the things that made the perfect target for her.
"Yesssssssssss," she hissed unconsciously.
Her victim started, obviously not expecting an answer. She could practically taste the hope that was rising quickly in him.
"Pit? Come on, everybody's been so worried about you. Link is a ditz of course, don't take what he did to you at dinner the other day to heart-"
She almost barfed from all of the sweetness he was layering on, like luring a fly with honey. Little did he suspect that he was already caught in her web.
"I'm over here…by the desk. Something fell on me and I can't move it by myself…"
"Okay, I'll be there in a minute. Hang tight."
Stupid, stupid man. She maneuvered herself quietly into prime position, watching him struggle through the mass of wire and piping. She had to keep herself from laughing; he looked so pathetic.
"How did you find this place?" She couldn't resist the question.
"Link. You know wolf-boy and his sense of smell. You'll never believe, but he found something interesting about Princess-"
He never had the chance to finish his sentence.
She pounced on him, knocking him backward into the wall, and slamming a hand over his mouth. She didn't need his screaming to ruin her meal. His eyes widened in beautiful terror as she bared her mouthful of fangs.
"Silly boy…now it's time for my dinner."
Unfortunately, Dinner wasn't about to comply. He unsheathed his sword- How unwise of her to forget about that!- thrusting it forward and making her dodge backwards into the control panel.
She hissed at him, and they fought, jabbing at each other with sword and fist. She circled the prince, before stumbling over something. He took this as a chance, and she barely dodged the gleaming point of his weapon. And then she retaliated, picking up the metal pipe she had nearly tripped over and smacking him in the face with it.
She was rewarded with a pained squeal, but he didn't back down. Hissing again, she rammed forward into him, slamming him into the control panel, while grabbing both his arms and holding the sword away from her.
Mistress wasted no time for banter, and opened her mouth to feed.
The gleaming sword clattered down to the floor, all will to fight leaving the man. She let go of his arms, confident that he couldn't resist her now. He shrank, now becoming a mere shell of a man.
Watching the victim crumble away in horror and despair as she took away everything that he loved was by far her favorite part.
Satisfied and finished with him, she drug him to the bright opening into her nest and threw him down the stairs. Let them wonder…and fear.
What she failed to notice was the chugging of the blinking control panel she had unwittingly activated.
Twilight smacked Master Hand upside the palm with a well-timed kick, before he blazed off, pretending to be a rocket.
I can DO this, she thought ecstatically. I can't believe I was so scared before! This is as easy as pie!
She dodged the rocketeer, before jumping and raining Twilight Fire upon him. The Hand groaned, and she looked with glee at his health meter. A few more attacks and-!
Suddenly a gasping sound came as something materialized into the ring. Master Hand twitched, looking upward, and suddenly balled into a fist. Twilight followed his gazed, and noticed the bright multi-colored ball hovering above their heads.
"A Smash Ball?"
She had read about them of course, and knew that they allowed a Smasher to access their most powerful attack. And that they were illegal during duels with Master Hand.
Somebody had been tampering.
However, Twilight was curious, as Link hadn't taught her about the Smash Ball attacks, probably thinking that she would learn for herself in time. Research before winning, Twilight thought optimistically, and leapt off the mesh with a powerful kick. Master Hand didn't try to stop her, so she assumed it was okay with him for this once.
She reached out and grasped the Ball, crushing it in her hands.
Suddenly crushing power filled her, and she knew her eyes were glowing yellow and she was gleaming with all colors of the rainbow. Her senses grew sharper, and she targeted the floating hand. In a half-daze, she activated the Smash Ball.
She was lifted up the ground, two giant purple wings spreading out behind her, and pony ears replacing her normal ones, white light shining from her eyes and from behind her. Her crown and Element of Harmony suddenly materialized in midair, slowly descending onto her head. It shone magenta, and apparitions of the other five Elements of Harmony appeared, circling her, each shining its respective color.
She then threw her hands out in front of her, shouting "FRIENDSHIP IS MAGIC!", and blasted a gigantic rainbow towards Master Hand, completely smothering him in a wave of color. It blasted her poor target full pelt for five seconds, before the power drained out of her, and she landed with a small tap on the mesh wire, the wings, light, and ears fading.
Master Hand fell, utterly and completely defeated, and the battlefield began descending into black.
Twilight felt the newly regained Element on her head. "M-my crown?"
And at that minute, two bloodcurdling screams reverberated around the Smash Mansion.
