I'm actually kind of sad because finals start on my birthday this year, but at least the semester ends the 20th and we start out fresh next year unlike last year. *shrugs* REVIEW :D
Enjoy yourselves!
"Jin...!" Irene said glancing up when she heard her grandson enter with a stoic expression on his face, followed by a blood covered Kasey with Kayla laying limp in his arms, sickly pale with a very concerned Chris right behind them.
"Right this way." Jin instructed the two men to a private examination room. "Irene, prep the surgery room...and grab a lot of bandages."
She nodded quickly before hurrying to grab the needed equipment to save the poor girl. She hurried into the surgery room as Jin rolled one of the bed's into the room with Kayla laying down while Kasey held her hand tightly.
Irene helped Jin put gloves on to start working, he turned towards the two men, "You two need to wait outside so we can help Kayla effectively."
"I'm not leaving her!" Chris glared, Kasey's face remained emotionless like he was a statue.
Irene walked over and looked up at the white haired man with a comforting but still worried look. "I promise you, we'll take good care of her, but you need to leave so Dr. Jin can do his job properly. Don't you want Kayla to make a full recovery?"
The two men nodded stiffly, "Chris, there isn't anything else we can do here..." Kasey sighed running a hand through his brunette bangs in frustration.
"Fine..." Chris stated as they both nodded a thank you to Jin before leaving.
Jin sighed as he turned towards Kayla. "Let's get to work on saving her." Irene nodded solemnly as she handed him the equipment he requested as he monitored her vitals carefully.
The townspeople all gathered around the clinic to await news on what was going on. "What do you mean you don't know what happened?" Mayor Hamilton asked Gill.
Gill opened his mouth to say something, but closed it, not knowing what there was to say. Chase just death glared everyone like he was mad at the world. "These two fucking idiots thought it would be funny to scare a poor innocent woman and ended up trying to hack her head open with an axe!" he semi-yelled nodding towards the two dark clothed men.
Everyone turned towards them, making the shorter one jump in surprise and hide slightly behind the taller one. The clinic door opened, Chris marching straight up to the two mysterious men followed by a silent Kasey and lifted the taller one up by his collar.
"Who the hell are you and what the hell were you thinking when you decided attacking my girlfriend was fun and fucking entertaining?! Huh! Why the fuck would you do this?" Chris yelled shaking the man.
"Mr. O'Neil, let the man go." Hamilton stated calmly.
The masked guy gulped audibly in fear, "Not until I get the information I want and a good enough explanation for this stupidity and crime they committed." Chris growled.
Kasey stopped next to Chris and laid a hand on his friend's shoulder in slight comfort. "Chris, just let him go so we can see them without their masks and at least answer one of our questions..." Kasey stated, Chris nodded slightly and dropped the man instantly, making the guy stumble in surprise at being let go.
"Take off your damn masks before I punch your faces in." Chris growled, the two guys quickly complied.
"Luke...Bo!" Dale semi-yelled in anger and disappointment at his two underlings.
"W-We didn't mean to hurt her!" Bo sobbed ashamed of himself for partaking in one of Luke's crazy schemes once again.
Luke stared at his feet sheepishly. "It was an accident. We just wanted to scare her...you know like the witch does except I thought after watching some scary movies we could re-enact some axe/chainsaw murder scenes." Luke stated rubbing the back of his neck nervously with a bright pink blush of embarrassment on his cheeks.
Chris facepalmed, Kasey chuckled to himself, making everyone look at him like he was going insane which he probably was.
"It was an accident..." Kasey trailed off as he turned to go back inside to be ready for any news. "Just don't do it ever again." he stated as he nodded solemnly before going back inside the clinic to wait for news on his sister's condition.
Chris sighed and ran a hand through his hair. "Whatever..." he muttered as he took out his cell phone and walked off towards the enterance of town, dialing an unknown number.
"You're such an idiot, Luke, how could you be so irresponsible!" Gill semi-yelled with a glare, Chase nodded with his own glare and with his arms crossed.
"I'm sorry, I wasn't thinking, okay! I admit it!" Luke semi-yelled with a pout as he crossed his arms.
Hamilton sighed but tried to put a small smile on his own face, "She"ll be fine, everyone, Kayla is in very capable hands. We should all get home and relax." he suggested as everyone awkwardly nodded and headed home in groups.
"Gill, come on." Hamilton ordered. Gill glanced at the clinic door guiltily but nodded and silently followed his father back home.
Chase was the last one left outside, he sighed and headed back to his house in Flute Fields to clean up and get something to fill up his stomach...and just maybe he won't feel so empty inside anymore.
Chris plopped down onto Kayla's sofa as soon as he got back to the farm, he sighed in relief when he finally got through, "Mr. Blythe, I have some bad news..." he trailed off.
"O'Neil, is something wrong with Kayla?" Mr. Blythe asked sounding calm but with a hint of concern in his voice.
"Is my baby sick?" Mrs. Blythe asked in worry.
Chris huffed angrily, "I'm sorry to inform you but Kayla was seriously injured a few minutes ago. The island's doctor is working as quickly as possible to save her..." he trailed off as Kayla's father gasped in shock while his wife sobbed into his shoulder.
"W-Why didn't Kasey call us?" Mr. Blythe asked, his voice faltering slightly.
"He's at her side right now trying to keep it together. He would have broken down if he tried to call you...plus he doesn't know that I called you. I think you should come as quickly as possible. Kayla would want you to be here even if Kasey doesn't." Chris said.
"I see..." Mr. Blythe stated in thought, his wife slapped his cheek lightly and grabbed the phone from her husband.
"We'll be there as soon as possible, give my baby a kiss for me and tell me if there is an update on her condition." Mrs. Blythe ordered as she hung up on him, making Chris sigh in frustration once again.
Chris now had to go tell Kasey that his parents are coming. "He is going to murder me..." Chris sighed as he stood up and headed out of the door and towards town once again.
He walked slowly trying to prolong the time but no matter how hard he tried he stopped outside the clinic. He entered, softly closing the door behind him. Kasey was sitting in a hard plastic chair in the waiting room with his head in his hands. Chris walked over and dropped into the chair next to Kasey. "How is she?"
Kasey jumped in surprise of hearing Chris's voice, not noticing that his friend sat down next to him. "Hi..." he trailed off. "I-I don't know, Chris...they haven't said anything yet."
"Hey, it's not your fault, it was an accident. Plus she'll be fine, back to farming in no time. But in the mean time you need to snap back into reality because I kind of called your parents..." Chris explained sheepishly while rubbing the back of his neck.
Kasey stood up suddenly and started pacing back and forth. "Why the hell did you call them for? They've never cared for Kayla or me, especially her. She tried so hard to get our father to be proud of her and you know what he always did, huh! Do you?!" Kasey yelled hysterically, Chris shook his head. "I thought not. He would say 'Kayla, you got a 99 on a test, I'm disappointed in you but I know you aren't smart enough to get a hundred, you should do better next time though' and then he would fucking leave the room, leaving her standing there watching him leave still holding her paper out to him proud of herself for doing so well." he spat out the words bitterly.
"She never told me..." Chris trailed off.
Kasey plopped back down into his chair. "She doesn't tell anyone, I just happened to be walking pass and saw. She would leave the living room and go to her room and study even more until she would pass out from exhaustion and then start again the next morning until she left for school again. She should have been happy with her grades, but because of our parents she would stress out on trying to perfect everything, but still she was never good enough for him..."
"Is that true..." Chase asked, Gill silent beside him. Neither Kasey nor Chris notice their arrival. Kasey nodded solemnly.
"Just don't tell Kayla that you heard it from me. She would murder me." Kasey stated, Chase and Gill nodded in understanding.
The four of them just sat there in total silence, hoping for the best.
It seemed like hours later when Jin finally came out of the examination rooms. The four men jumped to their feet instantly with hope in their eyes and a bit of fear.
Jin pushed his glasses up higher on his face before speaking with a serious look, "I can only tell family what is going on to keep patient confidentiality." Jin stated with a sorry look towards the three other men.
Chris, Chase, and Gill frowned in worry but understood that he had to even if they didn't like it. Kasey looked up at Jin with a furious glint in his eye, "Whatever you tell me you can tell them." Kasey informed Jin, who nodded solemnly.
"Now I can since you gave them permission." Jin smiled slightly to the three others' surprise. "Now, Kayla is in recovery sleeping off the strong anesthetic we gave her to make sure she wouldn't wake up during the procedure, but I doubt she would have since the amount of blood she lost was a dangerous amount." he informed them, the four of them were silent as he went on. "She was cut on her head, nearly on her temple, which if that would have happened I would be giving you some bad news right now. Anyway, she just needs to get plenty of rest and eat a little to get more blood into her system and make sure she doesn't do anything strenuous to open the stitches on her head or arm."
"So she'll be okay?" Chase asked with a sigh of relief, Jin nodded with a slight smile.
Gill smiled slightly along with Chris, Kasey sniffed tearfully. "T-Thank you, Jin, you've saved my sister's life." Kasey said hugging the Asian man tightly. Jin patted Kasey's back awkwardly and pushed up his glasses again.
"It's my job, plus give yourselves some of the credit since if you didn't get her here when you did there is no telling what her outcome would have been." Jin said humbily.
"When can we see her?" Chris asked, Jin sighed running a hand through his hair.
"Normally I would say not until tomorrow, but I can make an exception for you guys, but you have to be calm and try not to upset her in any way." Jin ordered, they all nodded quickly in agreement. "Then go on in, she is the last one on the right. Irene should be about done."
The four of them hurried into the examination rooms area and rushed over to Kayla's bed where Irene was wiping some sweat off Kayla's brow. She looked up and smiled slightly at the four caring men with a slight gleam in her eye.
She nodded a greeting to them, "Kayla's been a wonderful patient unlike someone else I know." she joked, making Kasey blush in embarrassment. "Well, I'll leave to give you some privacy. Call me or Jin if she wakes up or if something doesn't seem right." she informed them, they nodded a thank you before she left back to man the clinic's front desk.
They all turned towards the still pale but peacefully sleeping Kayla. Kasey took her hand into his much bigger one and squeezed slightly in comfort. "Hey, sis, you'll be out of here in no time, but for now you need to rest and be a good girl for the doctor, got it?" Kasey said softly, wiping away a few stray tears, not even noticing that the three others were listening to his one sided conversation.
Chris stepped up to her other side and took her other hand into his, "Hey babe, you need to rest so you can get out of here and get back to being yourself for me, got it?" Chris smiled, kissing her forehead softly.
Chase and Gill just stood back watching the two people closest to Kayla talk to her like it was a normal conversation. They spent a few minutes visiting when they heard arguing coming from the waiting room.
The door slammed open against the wall as feet ran over to them followed by a worried and angry Anissa, who took over for Irene so the woman could rest for awhile.
"My baby!" a young blond haired woman cried rushing over to Kayla and pushed everyone away.
Chase, Gill, and Chris stood frozen in shock that such a young woman would come bursting in here like she knew Kayla. Kasey looked over to the man accompanying the woman. "Father." Kasey stated with a death glare, making the three others snap their heads towards the middle-aged confident and scary looking brunette man standing there watching the whole situation like it was a stupid boring reality TV show.
The brunette man huffed and tsked disapprovingly at Kayla before walking out of the room in a full blown black business suit with a gray striped tie, not even acknowledging Kasey's presence.
Kasey cursed angrily under his breath, earning a glare from his mother. "Kasey, don't mutter to your father like that he's trying." she said with a disapproving shake of her head.
Kasey scoffed loudly, "Yeah fucking right... You two didn't need to come to see her, she's fine."
The blond lightly pushed a part of Kayla's bangs behind her ear and lightly ran a finger over her stitches. She tsked disapprovingly, "That's going to leave a nasty scar...oh well, darling, I have a doctor who can get rid of it quickly so don't worry." she said, making Kasey roll his eyes at his mother.
"When the hell did you get here?" Kasey asked.
" Five minutes ago, son." Kasey's father said going over to his wife's side and handed her a cup of coffee. "Is there a problem?"
Kasey death glared the emotionless man, "Yes there fucking is! YOU FUCKING BEING HERE TO SAVE THE DAY, FUCKING ASSHOLE!" Kasey yelled, poking his father's chest.
Kayla scrunched her sleeping face in pain and rolled her head to one side, no one paying any attention since they were watching the confrontation between father and son.
Kasey's father slapped his son's hand away from him and brushed invisible dirt from his suit. "This has nothing to do with you, YOU shouldn't even be here. Shouldn't you be a bump on a log in your hotel room or robbing a bank somewhere, my good for nothing son, hm!" his father semi-yelled stabbing a finger into Kasey's chest to emphasize his point.
Kasey growled angrily at his faher as the other three men and Anissa gaped in shock at what was going on in front of them, his mother just watched silently, emotionless, use to these kind of fights of theirs.
"WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON IN HERE?!" Jin yelled stomping in followed by an angry Irene.
"You'll all have to leave if you are going to bicker like children in front of my patient while she is fighting for breath right behind you." Jin ordered as he pushed past everyone to help calm Kayla's fitful sleeping.
"I'll bring her some tea to calm her..." Irene said as she left and came back with a slightly steaming cup of tea with a straw.
Once they got Kayla calm, Jin glared at the mysterious brunette male and blond female. "Only family can visit my patient at this time." he stated raising an eyebrow in question of who they are.
The brunette male scoffed loudly and rolled his eyes as he stuck his nose in the air snobbishly, "That's funny since none of these men are my daughter's family." he stated.
"Robert..." the blond woman trailed off in slight worry and fear.
"Elana, be quiet!" he growled, shutting her mouth instantly.
Jin only blinked, not cringing in fear like the others, "I know for a fact that Kasey is Kayla's older brother, but I need proof that you are her parents, it's policy."
Robert huffed in annoyance but pulled out both of their IDs to prove their identities. "Now, get these men out of here." Robert ordered nodding disdainfully towards Kasey, Chris, Chase, and Gill.
"Kayla informed me that in case of an emergency the person I need to get in contact with is her brother, Kasey and he approved the other's as visitors. So will you please get along or I'll have to ask you to leave for the safety and health of my patient." Jin informed them, Robert huffed but nodded grudgingly.
"Is my baby okay?" Elana asked tearfully.
"I expect your daughter to make a full recovery, Mrs. Blythe. She just needs to rest to gain her strength back and wait for her injuries to heal before she does any strenuous work." Jin informed her, the woman sighed in relief.
"Hear that baby, you're gonna be alright, just rest momma's gonna stay right here with you." Elana cooed.
"I think I'm going to throw up..." Kasey muttered rushing out of the room suddenly and out of the clinic.
"Christopher, will you leave us so we can be with our daughter for a while?" Robert asked with a challenging glare.
"Um...sure." Chris said heading towards the door.
"And take these two hillbillies with you." Robert ordered with a disdainful wave of his hand.
Chase and Gill glared at the man as Chris pushed them out of the clinic. Luna came up with the other girls, "How is she, Gilly?" Luna asked sweetly like she cared.
"She's fine." Chris stated emotionlessly as he ran a hand through his white bangs in frustration.
"She just needs to rest for a awhile to get her strength back." Chase said, the girls nodded in understanding.
"How come Brian didn't come?" Kathy asked with a slight blush dusting her cheeks, everyone shrugged.
"So you guys met our stupid ass parents...great." Kasey sighed strolling over with his hands stuffed in his pockets.
"They didn't seem that bad..." Renee stated as Anissa marched out of the clinic in anger and slammed the door closed behind her.
"I HOPE YOU SHOVE THAT UP YOUR STUCK UP ASS!" she yelled, her hands bunched up into fists down at her side.
She huffed, turned around and blushed in embarrassment when all of her friends stared at her in shock of her foul language that they didn't know she even possessed.
"I-I..." she stuttered, Kasey shook his head that she didn't have to explain to them, making her sigh in relief.
"I don't know how you can stand that woman or especially that man." Irene grumbled as she left the clinic, taking as much of their shit as she possibly could.
"Yeah, I don't know either... Just be glad they aren't you're parents. Anyway, I just hope Kayla doesn't wake up when they are here, she'll be more pissed then a wet cat." Kasey muttered, making everyone chuckle slightly.
"We should get home to put the animals away and get some rest so we can see Kayla early tomorrow." Chris stated, Kasey nodded.
"Yeah, we should. Thank you for worrying for my baby sister, she would really appreciate it." Kasey said as he and Chris waved a goodbye before heading towards the farm.
The girls said their goodbyes leaving Chase and Gill alone. "She'll be better tomorrow, Gill." Chase stated more for himself than for his best friend.
Gill scoffed, "It's not like it's my problem or that I care any." he stated snobbishly as he stuck his nose in the air and stomped his way home.
Chase sighed as he ran a hand through his orange locks, "People get on my nerves too much..." he muttered as he headed home to change into his work clothes right quick before he headed to the bar for his shift.
"Honey, didn't that orange haired guy look really familiar?" Elana asked her husband.
He nodded solemnly as he read an old business magazine. "He does, but he is just some hillbilly islander like the rest of them, Kayla deserves someone so much better...like Derrick." he stated seriously as he continued to read the magazine in his hands silently.
Elana sighed but nodded in agreement.
What was her daughter thinking...?
