Finally we're getting into new stuff. This is just a transition chapter and a way to show little things that the girls can do. It's not a super important chapter but I believe it's nice to have stuff like this every now and then. Here ya go-
SECONDARYISLAND
The days on the island were passed the same by all of the island children. No one complained because there wasn't anything to complain about when i t come to a little repetition. After a few mornings of nothingness the girl's were invited to help out with a project every now and then. When they weren't working Soku and Rio found themselves wandering the island and talking to the other teenagers that littered the beach. Waka was a taller kid who liked to juggle a ball on his knees, like a hackeysack. Tidus spent most of hsi time up on the old ship wreckage practicing his sword work with a stick that he says e found in an abandoned house that he had explored. No one believed him really, but Rio was at least civil about it. Soku decided that the most efficient method of not offending him would be to ignore him. Selphie was the only other girl that played on the secondary island besides Kairi. Unfortunately this girl was no more enticing than Kairi to hang out with.
The girls became quick acquaintances with Waka, who was the least annoying of the three besides his horrible accent and his flirty attitude. Mostly the girls spent most of their time with him because he was the best fighter. Seeing as there wasn't much for people to do on the secondary island, they all took to sparing in different ways. Selphie's tactics were just as annoying as her voice. She used her jump-rope as a whip in varying ways. Rio, using her cunning, found her easily dealt with. By grabbing the end of the jump-rope and pulling hard enough. Selphie would spin in a tight spiral that made her so dizzy that she automatically forfeited. She had to sit down for along while after dueling with Rio. Tidus, as aforementioned, sparred with a stick that he used as a sword. He had quick but weak attacks that Soku was surprised to learn she was uncommonly good at parrying. She used her own skinnier stick to power him into a corner until he gave up. Rio didn't ask nor tell but Soku found herself wondering if she was accustomed to using a sword in her life that she couldn't remember. That might have been the only reason that the two were able to beat Waka. He was the toughest of the three to beat but still wouldn't have been a fair fight if Rio wasn't able to find a pattern in his combat tactics. He often got frustrated or cocky and would throw a ball at Soku so hard that she had to start using a wooden sword that she borrowed from Kairi instead of the thin stick that she used up until then. When he would throw that ball extra hard, Rio would time it just right so that when she said "NOW" Soku would beat the ball back at him and hit him right upside the head. After two or three good hits, he would have to give up.
Now, those three were nothing compared to Riku. It was obvious by his looks that he was strong. His arms and legs were thick and perfect for his type of sparring. Riku was strong and fast. He didn't sacrifice one for the other and easily caught himself from falling off the small island where he liked to hang out. He fell into barrel rolls and sprung back up to attack again. It took a long while and a great many sour losses to figure out a strategy for fighting against Riku. It was scary and if it didn't work than it would hurt more than usual, but to beat Riku you had to attack him at the same time he attacked you. Soku was sore from all of her failed attempts and slightly annoyed to be the only one in this situation. Rio had opted not to fight Riku after seeing him beat the living crap out of Sora multiple times. That only made Soku want to try harder though. Aversion makes the need grow stronger. On top of that She wanted to make him say that she was good. That she was better.
It happened though. It finally happened. She waited for the perfect time and when his wooden sword started to fall down she swung hers up and caught him unawares. he fell back from the blast and his sword went tumbling off the edge of the island down the ten foot drop to the ocean. With one last push she rushed forward and pressed her weapon to his throat.
"Do you comply?" Soku asked, pushing the wood in closer. Riku smiled up at her and soku found herself mimicking his facial expression. A challenge in those teeth and lips that say "push me farther. See what happens."
"I comply." he said finally and she pulled the sword from his neck and held out her hand to help him up. He took it and as she pulled him up she found him inches away from her and now smiling down at her. "Like I said," he continued almost directly into her ear, "you should do that more often." He turned and walked to the edge of the island before jumping off the edge to grab his sword. Soku wasn't smiling anymore but found herself staring into the distance not really thinking about anything. That is until she felt a presence to her left.
"What was that about?" Rio questioned with that same earie grin that she always had on. She looked as if she already knew the answer to that question.
"Fuck off." Soku said, taking her first step off the island and accross the bridge. Rio let out a small laugh before following her friend toward the docks of the secondary island.
I hope this chapter wasn't too remedial for you. The next chapter is also kind of like that but then I believe I can get some good stuff out of the chapter after that. SO Tell me what you think! I'd be glad to hear criticisms along with compliments, or even just suggestions. Thanks for reading!
