HUR COME SOME EMOTIONS. This chapters a tad bit full of them so sorry about that but I really hope you like it anyway. I'd like to extend a humble thank you to my friend who has been editing most of my stuff these days. Yo da best.
Just two more chapters and we'll be going to a new world. OH MY LORD. Please enjoy.
"Stay back," Sora snapped, pushing Soku behind him. She stumbled from the force of his sudden movement and fell back on to the brick walkway of the third district. In front of the two, bobbed three small shadows that had wormed their way out of the darkness nearby. One of them, they had witnessed, had attacked a Traverse town settler. As the Settler disappeared into the shadow itself, a bright red light shot into the sky and a heart bobbed in mid air until the shadow swallowed it. The light was gone but before them, the shadow changed. It grew in shape and color and took on the form of a small soldier who stared at them just the same as the other two had been the whole time. "These things are more dangerous than they look." Sora held out his hand and with a different kind of light—a brighter, more pure light—a blade appeared in his hand. He swung the strangely shaped sword and cut the nearest shadow in half. The re-aiming two shadows wobbled at a safe distance away. As Sora leapt for the armored shadow and hit it hard across the side of the head, the third shadow slid slowly across the floor behind him.
"Sora!" Soku screamed as he took swing after swing at the strange shadow. The Armored shadow was marginally stronger than the last and it slashed at Sora's chest, sending him flying backward. The shadow behind him crept up slowly, ready to pounce, but as soon as it solidified, again Soku dropped the lock of her hammer down on the head of the shadow. It exploded into dust and melted through the air. Sora looked up to Soku—his jaw dropping lower as she swung the hammer around herself to face the last shadow.
"As soon as I crack that Armor open, it's finished," she whispered more to herself than anyone else. That light. The light that had encompassed that man and exposed the heart that this heartless consumed was something that she had seen before. On the island, she saw that same light come from the tree house as she heard Rio scream at the top of her lungs. That was Rio's heart as it was being taken and eaten. She had already known but now it was confirmed that Rio was dead. Soku's grip tightened on her lock hammer and she tightened her jaw.
"You sons of bitches. I'll kill every last one of you!" came the growl from within her as she shot forward and swung her hammer down onto the shadows head. The helmet of the armor cracked and shattered into a million pieces along with the shadow itself, leaving Soku kneeling shakily in the middle of the open area. Behind her, Sora sat watching. The giant key that was his sword, illuminated out of existence and he pushed himself up off the ground, slowly making his way over to his friend. She shook slightly and the hammer's staff disappeared from her hand leaving her fist balled and pushed into the ground. Her knuckles were white and her hair cascaded over her face, obscuring the tears that slowly began to rise from her eyes.
"She's gone, Sora," she spoke again in her calmest voice and stared deeply into the web of cracks in the bricks below her. The sound of his shoes scraping against the brick as he stood was slow and grating. His shorts rubbed together and his footsteps echoed off the walls of the third district.
"She's out there somewhere," his hand found her shoulders and she wondered honestly for the first time how he had such overwhelmingly positive eyes. It felt like her blood thickened as she shrugged off his hand.
"The light. I've seen that light before." Their eyes met again and for a millisecond, there was a jolt of something like lightening. Through her tear soaked eyes, he saw a glimmer of something he had never seen before. "Stop filling my head with false hopes. Please don't do this to me when I know in the deepest part of myself that she is dead." Her eyes pushed him back onto his knees and her voice got louder with every word. "She's gone. She's dead. I'm never seeing that stupid smile of hers again!" She wished she could be mad or that she could scream, yell, or throw a fit. But even as she raised her voice, she was calm. Her insides were twisting themselves into knots and her shoulder was twitching off the charts. Still, she stared calmly over to Sora with a terrifying amount of tears and an even scarier amount of composure.
"You don't know that." He didn't look away or falter. He grabbed her hands in his own and gripped them so tight; she thought he might break them. You don't know what happens to those people who disappear in the red light." He leaned forward and narrowed his eyes at her, "so don't you DARE give up on her. Or she might as well be dead."
That was it. Most would not notice but she began to shake. Her face was the same but she was breaking on the inside and it was FINALLY showing on the outside. She closed her eyes and let the tears fall and darken the brick below her. Slowly, but deliberately he touched his forehead to hers and they found themselves sitting in silence(besides the occasional sniff from Soku) in the wide open of Traverse Town's third district.
Sad face, yes? I have major sad face. Please tell me if I messed anything up canon wise or even if you just like it. I appreciate all feedback ^^
