Hey there- sorry its been so long. I obviously got distracted again as I often do. This chapter is a little longer as an apology and I'm in a mood again because of the impending KH release at the end of this year. SO please enjoy...
TRAVERSETOWN
The giant helmet fell to the ground with an ear-shattering clatter. The piece of metal scattered around the group of four as they fell in exhaustion to the cold stone ground. The small shadows were nothing compared to this monster. A full suit of armor with stomping feet and spinning hands—its head a separating canon of pure dark energy. It took Sora and Soku's full strength along with help from their new allies. Goofy was a shield carrying knight that refused the use of a weapon and his friend, a mysterious yet loud mage of what they could only guess was high caliber. Their combined efforts had felled the creature that had appeared before them; once in its first and weaker form, and a second time in its reassembled formed as they sat around the wreckage, that they found was slowly starting to fade into the surrounding shadows. They breathed heavily out of relief and exhaustion.
"I swear I'm about done with these shadows," Soku spoke through the slightest of heavy breathing, which was the most out of breath that Sora had ever seen her. He had to catch a few more deep breathes before he could spirt out anything like an agreement.
"I'm uh—definitely getting there," he tried to laugh, but found it hurt him more than it should have. He must have broken a rib. "Oh shi—" he tried to get out before a large gloved hand pushed its way around his body taking in all of his damage. Before he could really tell what was going on, Donald had already pulled his staff back out of the ether and lifted it to the sky. A green light surrounded the staff and then Sora's whole being, leaving him feeling better than he had since the island had fallen apart.
"Wow, I can't tell you how great that feels," he said patting himself down. His muscles, which he hadn't even noticed were aching, felt so much better that he swore he could fight another one of those monsters right here and there.
"And I'm sure you'll need this," Donald gave another wave of his staff. A different light and a hot red feeling passed over and through Sora. An image of fire shooting from his keyblade burned through his vision and anyone who looked close enough could see the flames flicker over his eyes. He didn't just feel better. He felt great. Strong.
He sent a toothy grin to Soku and she leaned back onto her elbows. She let her lips quirk into a slight smile like she was still in pain but was happy to be alive.
"You next," Squawked Donald, making his way towards her but her smile dropped when he approached.
"I'm okay. Help your friend over there," She nodded, indicating Goofy, who was holding his wrist as if his heavy shield had twisted it wrong.
"You're my friend now too," he spat out like an embarrassed child. "Besides, he's tough. And you happen to be bleeding profusely from your leg." He pointed with his staff and sent a wave of green magic at her leg that was in fact practically falling apart into ribbons. She felt the difference in minutes, standing immediately and taking to jogging in place. He gestured for a few seconds, waiting for her to settle back down but she didn't even notice him.
"Now I have too much energy," she said, not realizing just how tired she was before her healing. When was the last time she had a good night's sleep?
"You're welcome," Donald grumbled as he waddled over to Goofy to fix his apparently broken wrist. Soku jumped around on her feet, feeling the energy filling her and pouring out of her every orifice, before turning and walking to Sora. She reached a hand out to help him up and he grabbed her gloved hand in his own.
"Feeling much better," she stated and asked in one sentence. He nodded in agreement or answer. He wasn't sure which one.
"Much better." He stood and she lingered in releasing his hand. He took his away immediately and accounted the heat in his fingertips to the magic he had had cast over him.
"Will they be able to help us?" Soku wondered out loud, not exactly speaking to herself or Sora. He let out a hum of thought and looked the pair up and down.
"I think we can help each other," he said with another sunshine smile. It was infectious.
"We were looking for you," Goofy smiled back as he joined the two. The pile of metal hunks was almost all evaporated or absorbed already, "But now we have to find our friend,"
"Then I guess we're in agreement," Sora leaned into his step and put his hands behind his head. He was at ease for the first time in days. "Though I'm not so sure about how we're going to get to these other worlds they mentioned before." Soku stretched in lieu of an answer and left the details to the ones who had means of finding out.
"We have a ship! The best in all the worlds," Goofy smiled with a slight jump of excitement.
"Damn straight," Donald nodded before he waved his staff over her like he had with Sora. Burning crawled up her legs and arms and seared over the spade on her arm. The twitching quieted as the color red filled her vision and she felt a chill run through her spine.
Donald scoffed at the absence of vocal response before throwing his staff back into the ether. "Meet us in the first district. Goofy and I are going to get supplies. You should look into upgrading your gear or picking up a few potions. I don't have enough power to always be patching you up." He squawked in what could have been embarrassment.
"Can do," Soku said, about ready to walk away from the situation anyway. She needed to get rid of her energy. That chill had sped up her heart and even after she shook it off she could still feel the calm that it had brought to her constant twitch. God, she needed to do something.
"Thanks again," Sora smiled before waving the two off. Soku had dropped to the ground and was doing pushups when Sora returned to her side. She looked up from her position and he shook his head at her in disbelief. "Where you just not in that same battle with me? You look like you haven't done a day of work in your life,"
"I'm full of energy, the nervous kind to be specific," she said standing up. Her arm and her brain twitched under the scrutiny of her attempted remembrance of pushups or why she was so used to feeling beaten and broken, "I don't like it," She shook her whole body out before sighing into stillness.
"Let's go speak to Sid. He seemed like the person to see about gear," Sora shrugged under the unsure feeling of the whole situation and Soku let out a small laugh.
"Okay," she replied slowly before turning quickly away from him, "BUT I'M RACING YOU!" She took off into a sprint taking a quick lead before Sora even realized he was losing.
