Marinette's teacher clapped her hands for attention and she and her friends looked up from the toys they were playing with. "All right, children! Guess what time it is!" Alya leaped up, and pushed her glasses back up her nose. "Writing time?" Nino jumped up and down he was so excited. "Music time?"
"Those are good guesses," Teacher smiled at her eager students. Adrien hugged his green dinosaur. "I like everything about school," he said, shyly. "That's the spirit, Adrien! But its art time!" "Yes!" Marinette punched her fist in the air. She loved arts and crafts, were she could let her imagination soar!
That was until Teacher told them what they'd be doing. "Valentine's Day is coming up, and I know a lot of you are pretty close. Now, have fun!"
Marinette's throat grew dry. She wanted to make a heart for Adrien. Well, at least she could make a heart and take it from there. Grabbing a big piece of pink paper, Marinette carefully started cutting. For a moment she glanced over at Adrien, who was helping Nino with the glitter. "I know you like glitter storms, Nino, but you don't want to go overboard!" Marinette giggled, her bluebell eyes soft as she stared at her friend. Adrien was always helping everyone out, and he didn't expect anything in return.
"Marinette, that heart is huge!" Alya exclaimed as she saw it. "Who's it going to be for anyway?" Alya's eyes followed Marinette's when she didn't answer and lowered her voice. "Is it for Adrien?" Marinette nodded, peeking above the heart. "I want to tell him I love him, but I'm shy. This way, I can hide behind my heart." "Oh, Marinette, Adrien will love it whether its big or small. The most important thing is it came from you."
Marinette smiled and begin to write inside the heart.
"Helping others is in your nature,
Giving them a hand up, or just simply being there.
I admire your kindness daily,
And our friendship means the world to me.
I may be pink faced and blushing,
But Adrien Agreste, would you be my Valentine?"
-Marinette
"Here, will you read it, Alya?" Alya read it silently as Marinette played with red ribbon in her hair. "I think its very sweet."
Marinette was excited about the Valentine's Day party, and she held her Valentine tightly as her father dropped her off. She should give her Valentine to Adrien before she chickened out but before she did, she added one more feature. A little ladybug for good luck.
Adrien was surprised but pleased and handed Marinette a smiling sun made out of paper. "I know its not traditional, but Happy Valentine's Day, Marinette."
Marinette read the card.
"Your smile is bright as the sun,
even if winter keeps on giving us gloom.
Shy but caring,
Ever confident and sharing.
This Valentine's is special just for you,
So, Marinette, will you be my Valentine?
-Adrien
"Yes, of course I'll be your Valentine. Thanks for being my friend, Adrien." They hugged then ran over to make a block tower. When Marinette got home and showed her parents, her mother smiled. "That was sweet of Adrien, look he even added a little black cat."
Marinette giggled. A cat did in a way remind her of Adrien, clever and funny, and soft-hearted.
