XxxxxxxxX Esme

The purse in Esme's lap vibrated when the phone inside of it received a message, with a swift practiced movement she quickly had the new phone in her grasp already opening the text.

She glanced up at the bartender to excuse herself but saw the young woman already concentrating on making drinks for a grotesquely large man.

Esme bit her lip at the way Bella's hips rolled whenever she moved, taking care to only look for a second before glancing back at her phone. "Get your ass home now, we have wedding arrangements to decide. You can plan your whore party later" the text read.

She looked away from the phone and towards the bartender instantly spotting her hand on top of the large man's hand and became unjustifiably enraged.

SHE wanted to be able to get to flirt with the woman she would have fucked senseless had it not been for the engagement ring on her finger, not this man in a human gorilla suit.

Esme bit down on her tongue roughly and glared at the glittering ring on her finger, the large, expensive, suffocating ring that she couldn't seem to forget about for even a moment before it was somehow brought back to her attention.

She forced herself to turn back towards the bartender and watched as the woman smiled at the now blushing man amusedly, practically lighting up the dim room with it's intensity.

She placed a few bottles of beer onto a tray before removing strawberry schnapps and peach daiquiri from beneath the counter, quickly mixing them with praticied ease.

The strange looking pink martini was placed onto the tray and carefully handed to the blushing mammoth of a man who hurriedly slammed a crumpled fifty onto the counter before scurrying away.

The humor in the sight of a body builder that could rival the incredible hulk scurrying away from a woman not even half his size lost on her at the moment.

Esme looked away from the duo and slipped her phone into her purse managing to remove a twenty from the small bag at the same time.

Her anger now bubbling to the surface and spewing over at the thought of going home, at the thought of marriage, and espically at the thought of the large buffoongetting to have what she would have to guess is going to be great sex with the bartender after she got off, sex she should have been having.

The bartender waved at the man once as he scurried away before she turned around in time to catch the brute of Esme's undeserved rage, the glare seeming to freeze the woman to a halt.

Esme's slammed the twenty onto the counter ignoring the Bartender's confused yet adorable pout and pushed her way onto the dance floor, roughly pushing away the men that began to dry hump her as soon as she was in touching distance.

"God no wonder why I came out in college" she thought dryly after a rough thrust nearly made her stumble.

The woman quickly spotted her friend sucking face with a tall grudgingly admitted handsome man in a booth at the back of the club.

She quickly pushed away the last man to grope her and interrupted the couple, roughly tugging the blonde's arm and effectively tearing them apart.

The drunk blonde nearly fell out of the booth and onto her ass as the man looked up at her angrily and began to yell at her heatedly with a thick Italian accent "you fucking bitch! what the hell is wrong with you?!".

Esme ignored the man as her own friend also glared at her for a moment before recognizing the look in her eyes.

Kate turned towards the angry Italian and blew him off "It was nice to meet you Demetri" the blonde spoke with a dismissive flick of her wrist before quickly dragging her best friend back towards the entrance.

The Pack's thick metal doors were slammed against the wall roughly as both women rushed out from the club and towards the parking lot directly outside.

"What did Cockward do this time?!" Kate hissed, all signs of drunkness long gone as she dragged the woman in between dozens of parked cars towards Esme own vehicle.

Esme jerked her arm away from the grip annoyedly and removed the phone from her purse with a huff before tossing it towards the woman who caught it surprisingly well for someone who was shit faced mere moments ago.

The blonde quickly opened the phone's messages and read the text, her lip curling in disgust as soon as she lifted the phone from her sight. "You don't have to marry him Maé!" The woman hissed in disgust as her friend unlocked all the car doors with a rough click of a button.

The luxurious vehicle was soon pulling out from the lot, smoothly taking the rough turns which further angered Esme as she realized that her fiancée's perfectionist presence was everywhere.

"What was I supposed to do?" Esme hissed when she got tired of her friend glaring at her persistently, "Turn him down and let my father die?".

Kate winced at the sore subject quickly simmering down, all hints of anger rapidly banished from her features.

The blonde was at a lost for words so she silently placed the large phone into the car's cup holder for safe keeping before gently gripping her friend's shoulder and squeezing reassuringly as said woman sped down the Seattle streets furiously.

Esme steered the wheel in and out of traffic expertly leaving Kate to silently examine her friend, her blue eyes roving over Esme's stunning features wearily.

She jerked the wheel one final time causing the car to skid to a stop in front of her friend's home which was conveniently located down the street from the home Edward- no her Fiancee had inherited.

"We could figure something out Maé" Kate whispered softly as she leaned across the gear shift and lay against Esme like she used to do in college.

A defeated sigh left Esme's mouth as she felt the anger being drain from her body, the gentle pressure Kate applied from her position reminding her of better times.

"I know we could try" The red head acknowledged as she let her hands drop from the steering wheel "but it wouldn't be without consequence" she reminded the woman cuddled into her side.

Kate began to bristle until Esme interrupted her growing anger "I know you would do anything for my Dad sweetheart but you know as surely as I do that realistically we couldn't afford to pay for his chemo, not with our college loans and house mortgages still biting us in the ass... Besides we both know Carlisle would rather die than ruin our careers and education".

Kate slumped into Esme limply, all the will she possessed was throughly drained from her with the gentlely said speech.

Esme slung an supportive arm around Kate before she whispered "Your everything I have left besides Dad, if you slip up even one time with the immigrations bureau you know they will deport you back to Russia in a heartbeat, I can't afford to lose my best friend too".

The couple sat in silence like that for a minute before Kate whispered in a vulnerable voice that was so unlike her "we could have been happy together... I would have even married you".

Esme squeezed the woman on her side harder before she lowered her lips to the blonde's ear and whispered "I know Katie, I know".

The couple sat like that for a moment longer until Esme's phone vibrated loudly in the cup holder signaling a end to their moment.

Kate glared at the phone angirly knowing exactly who it was who had texted Esme so she moved to snatch the phone from its safe haven and message Edward something involving a question about his humanity and how small his manhood could possibly be until Esme stopped the line of thought by grabbing the phone first.

She glared at the blonde for moment untill she smiled involuntarily at the Russian's crinkled nose, the woman obviously upset she didn't get to the phone first.

"See you in the morning?" Esme asked in a horriblely high-pitched imitation of Kate's trademark hung over groan.

Kate pouted once at the tease making Esme smile bigger revealing a dimple the owner despised and in that moment time froze for Kate.

Suddenly she was back in college and they were alone in their dorm room again, that rare smile that could rivial a model's still painting Esme's face.

Their was a moment of silence as they thought about what could have been until the jarring sound of a car door being slammed caused Kate to jerk back and speed out of car and into her own house, her face looking slightly green.

Esme sat their for a moment longer in silence, wanting badly to go back into the past before sighing and shaking her head "tomorrow is going to be even worse than today" she thought as she stated towards her own home, a deadly cocktails of emotions slowing her down.
