Marinette sighed happily as she snuggled under her comforter. Finally, she could sleep in after having been up all night three nights in a row with akuma attacks. Rain pounded on the roof, and Marinette looked up at her skylight. Was rain supposed to sound like that? Wait….Standing up, she unlatched the skylight, and a soggy Cat Noir tumbled onto her bed. Before she could scold him, a tremendous crack of thunder boomed and Cat dived under the covers.
"Cat, why did you come to visit me in a thunderstorm? I'll be here in the morning." Only his rump and tail stuck up from under the pink sheets. If she hadn't been so tired, she might have laughed. "I don't like storms. There scary." "Comes from the cat who fights villains on a daily basis." Marinette flopped back on her bed. "You can't fight thunder, Princess." Groaning, she whacked him with her pillow. "Fine, you can stay. But no snoring." "Oh, thank you!" Cat gave her cheek a little lick, then snuggled down.
Well, it was nice to have company and she didn't exactly like storms either. To calm herself she stroked his hair, until she gradually fell asleep.
Morning sunlight streamed in through the window, but Marinette tried to block the sun's light with her pillow. She'd hardly been able to sleep a wink. The reason? Cat had snored all night long.
"Rise and shine!" Her father bellowed from downstairs. Cat stretched luxuriously, flopping down on Marinette's stomach. How had he slept through her dad's booming call? Cat purred, one black ear flapping cutely. "Storm's over, Cat. Go home now." Cat opened one green and shut it. "No, I'm very comfortable here." "So, I'm your pillow?" "For the moment, yes." "You owe me coffee."
"Who wants pancakes?" Cat leaped up, diving down the ladder. "Cat, you nearly scratched me! Be careful with those claws!" Marinette threw a pillow at him. Cat caught it neatly, and watched her climb down the ladder. "I think your the one with claws this morning, hmm?" His emerald eyes sparkled and he stroked a loose piece of hair. Marinette wanted to come back with something witty, but her brain had stopped working. How did that feel so good? "Cat got your tongue?" he cracked up, meowing and Mrinette couldn't hold back the giggles any longer. "See, there's your smile."
He helped Marinette with her hair, then held her hand as they came down for breakfast. Marinette was surprised how many pancakes he could put away as he was as skinny as a rail. She nudged him. "Coffee," she reminded him.
"That's the way to win my girl's heart, M'boy," Tom said, setting down his newspaper. "Oh? Is that all it takes?" Cat teased.
"Thanks for taking in me in last night," Cat said, when they were by themselves. Marinette smiled, slipping her hand into his. Sure, he was naughty, but she loved him. "Anytime, Cat. Anytime."
