It was a relatively quiet night at the Agreste household, as Adrien sat at his computer doing homework and brushing up for tomorrow's math test. Plagg was in his cupboard, no doubt eating cheese but Adrien hadn't heard a peep from him all evening. Adrien looked at the cupboard, and stood up to stretch. Plagg was in there, right?
He opened the cupboard, clapping a hand to his nose as the scent of fresh cheese and moldy cheese filled his nostrils. "Ugh, it smelled terrible in here! I'm happy to keep your cheese in here, but you have to keep it clean."
It was hard enough to keep Plagg a secret from Father and Natalie, though with time it had gotten easier. "Forget the smell," Plagg said. "I need more cheese!" "Plagg, I already told you, you have plenty of cheese in the cupboard, and I have homework." Adrien shut the door to the cupboard, only to spin back when he heard a small wail. "I neeed cheeeese!" Adrien sighed with frustration, running his hand through his blonde hair. It was to late to go to Leo's, and Adrien really did have to study.
Adrien tried to block out the wails coming from the cupboard. "Plagg, would you put a sock in it!"
Adrien snapped fifteen minutes later. He usually wasn't crabby in the evening, but it had been a tiring day. "Nathalie is going to hear you and…." "Adrien?" he heard his father's assistant call through the door. "You okay in there?" "Yeah, just stubbed my toe!" Adrien called back, then marched over to the cupboard, scooping up his Kwami. The wailing stopped instantly. "Hooray, we're going to buy cheese!" "No, your to Marinette's so I can study. Plagg, Claws Out!"
Adrien felt a bit of irritation slip away as the cool night air whistled against his cheeks. He loved his Kwami, but Plagg had learn some patience. Slipping down through the skylight on Marinette's balcony, he landed on the bed. "Princess, I have a problem," Cat said, climbing off the bed and detransforming. "Oh, I didn't realize you had company." Felix and Kagami looked up from the floor where there books were scattered. "Adrien!" Marinette said, leaping up in surprise. "I thought you were studying." "I was," Adrien said, flopping down in Marinette's desk chair. "Until Plagg started wailing for cheese." Plagg flew out of Adrien's shirt. "This isn't the cheese store!" Plagg landed on Adrien's head, yowling his head off. "Plagg, enough!" Adrien snapped. "I told him if he wasn't going to behave, he'd have to come here." Marinette knew Adrien was upset, but the angry look on his face made her want to giggle. "Maybe Tikki can calm him down."
Adrien left, sighing. Finally, peace at last. He have to think of an excuse to why he left the mansion, but Adrien knew he'd come up with something when he got home.
When he finished around midnight, he climbed into bed, exhausted. But it was quiet. To quiet without Plagg snoring beside him on the extra pillow. He didn't want to admit it, but he missed Plagg. Though lesson must be learned, and sometimes you had to learn the hard way.
At school, Marinette sidled up to his locker. "Plagg and I had a talk last night, and he said he's sorry. But I'll let you talk to him." Adrien smiled as Plagg flew into the locker. "Thanks, love."
"I'm sorry, Adrien. I didn't mean to! " Adrien grinned, scratching his Kwmi behind the ears. Plagg's eyes were huge, his little lip trembling. "It know. I just hope you learned your lesson." Plagg nodded.
During class, Adrien had a special cheese wheel delivered to the house as a surprise for Plagg when they got home.
"A cheese wheel!" Plagg cried happily, when they walked inside. Adrien set down his bag. "Happy now, buddy?" Plagg rushed up to hug Adrien's cheek, then flew back nestling down on top of the cheese wheel. He had lot of eating to do.
