Hello everyone, I apologize for not posting much. Honestly, it wasn't even because of depression, it was the exact opposite. I was taking a much-needed vacation after 2022 ended badly. It was nice being lost in paradise.
And I felt guilty because my beautiful younger sibling Lenora made me a Lukanette February 2023 calender because I mentioned I wanted to do something akin to Lukanette June 2021. And I was sad I was never a part of Lukanette February 2019...Since I didn't officially become a part of the Lukanette fandom until around summer of 2019 if my memory serves me.
The thing is I was also busy and I sadly didn't do the entire month...I might come back later and add a few more to this collection but we are close to the middle of March and I want to move on to other projects.
Ok everyone, thank you for reading and I hope my writing hasn't become rusty along the way.
Luka practiced on the stage, playing any notes that came to mind as he closed his eyes and thought of his last encounter with Marinette. As cool and suave as he came off, Luka couldn't find the nerve to confess he liked her. So he just nonchalantly played pretty tunes that expressed the feeling in his heart whenever he saw her.
And when he needed a break from playing the guitar, he sat at the usual table of the coffee shop and wrote musical notes on sheet music. He continuously tried to write his love song for her for months, and it did not go unnoticed by his sister and friends.
He almost always got the same latte from the coffee shop, and Marinette always delivered it to him with a smile. And she looked so cute when she told him to enjoy himself and call her if he needed anything else.
Juleka told Luka that it was about time he worked up the nerve to confess to her, but he insisted that now wasn't the right time as he sipped the sweet drink and went back to writing notes on sheet music.
But it was the beginning of February, so the inspiration for love notes was everywhere. Heart-shaped decorations and sweet nothings surrounded Luka and Marinette.
Although among all the pink and red, Marinette had her eyes on a musician with beautiful blue hair and eyes.
Marinette always sat down and smiled in the coffee shop, feeling inspired whenever Luka Couffaine played his music. His showing up at the coffee shop she worked at always made her day. He always said the sweetest things to her, like asking her how she was feeling and thanking her for making the coffee shop a safe place for everyone. She always felt he always knew the right thing to say because he was the kindest boy she ever knew and not to mention he was the cutest boy in all of Paris, ripped jeans and all.
Her sketchbook was full of boys with beautiful blue hair and drawings of blueberries and pistachio macarons. Marinette also drew a beautiful landscape of the ocean and the moon during one of Luka's evening performances. There was a drawing of a red fox and a blue fox with a blue flame and a red flame. And plenty of sketches of pink and blue roses contrasted how Adrien always seemed to have red roses in hand while saying the most cliche romantic crap that got old quickly.
Alya noticed how Marinette and Luka always smiled at each other at a distance and how sweet they were to each other. Eventually, she just came out and said it and suggested that Marinette turn one of her drawings of Luka into a Valentine's card for him.
And Marinette immediately shut the idea down because she wondered if it was too creepy that when she wasn't making lattes for customers, she admired the musician at a distance and sketched him in her book.
"All you need to do is write a nice love note for one of your drawings!" Alya insisted. "Luka will love it I am sure!"
Marinette's face distorted at that idea. Alya said that as if that was easy for her, as if Marinette didn't have a track record of words getting tied up in her mouth. She could never find the right words, and sometimes she would say something idiotic that would ruin everything.
"Luka is too cool," Marinette said as she sighed over her latte.
And then, like clockwork Adrien Agreste the self-proclaimed love magician, came in with a rose and tipped his fedora. Marinette would laugh if she weren't busy groaning under her breath. His peridot green eyes showed a determined twinkle as he presented Marinette with a red rose.
"Oh Marinette! I am sure whatever you want to tell Luka he will be flattered! Even if your words get mixed up." Adrien said as Marinette rolled her eyes, but he only further encouraged her.
"You can't just let your words go unspoken till the end of time," Adrien flipped his blonde hair. "With practice, you will learn the language of love just like me."
Marinette responded by covering his face with her hand.
Fine! Marinette thought! She did need to work up the courage to tell Luka how she felt, but with multiple crumbled-up love notes on her bedroom floor, she realized writing love notes wasn't her forte.
For her, it wasn't enough to say just anything. She needed to find the right words to tell Luka how she felt.
She thought of everything, and her pen was running out of ink. Writing down that she had romantic feelings for him, that she adored him, that he inspired her, and the thought of confessing to him in real life made her flustered.
Marinette then thought of all the tiny notes of affection on candy valentine hearts.
Hug me, kiss me, be mine, she wrote down on blue hearts that she drew on a piece of stationary.
Marinette sighed, and she turned to one of her Luka drawings and thought about everything she adored about him—his kind heart, passion for music, and optimism that inspired her to keep going.
On one of her Luka portraits, she wrote down "blue angel." Marinette blushed as she also wrote down "My muse."
She picked up another of her Luka drawings and wrote, "You're so amazing Luka! You inspire me every day, and I admire you. ~Love Marinette."
Marinette thought about Luka smiling at her if she said those simple words. Then she looked at a flyer left aside of the Valentine's event at the coffee shop and finally decided to rest for the night and hope that she could let her feelings be free on the most romantic day of the year.
As she laid her head on her heart-shaped pillow, she questioned why Adrien and Alya insisted she make a fool of herself with her words when showing affection through art was so much easier. Marinette would sew a thousand blue heart pillows to show Luka how she felt, but she drifted off to sleep. But she would have plenty of energy to serve everyone coffee tomorrow.
Juleka insisted that today was the day for her older brother. The day that Luka would say he is in love with baker girl Marinette Dupain-Cheng. But Luka insisted to his pushy sister that his love song wasn't quite ready yet, only for her to get frustrated and say that if he kept using that excuse, he would never finish his love song.
Granted, Luka thought Valentine's Day was a decent holiday to show affection for others. He wanted to perform well for everyone in the coffee shop, so as customers loaded in the chairs, he tuned his guitar until the lights dimmed and a blue spotlight shined on him.
He cleared his throat and smiled as he grabbed the microphone and waited for the audience to quiet down.
"Hello everyone," Luka started. "I thank everyone for showing up in the best coffee shop in Paris. I always love performing for all of you."
Marinette was sitting with all her friends as her bluebell eyes sparkled, and she held a red envelope close to her.
"This one goes out to everyone who has a hard time expressing their feelings for others," Luka sighed to himself. "I know that all too well. For me, music is far easier to use than words."
Marinette couldn't help but gasp and hold her hand over her mouth, and all her friends started giggling at her expense.
"That's why I keep playing my music for all of you," Luka said as he placed his hands on his guitar strings. "I love all of you. And happy Valentine's Day."
Marinette's heart thudded as Luka started playing his love song. She was speechless as she placed her hands over her mouth and felt her eyes water a bit.
But it wasn't just Luka's beautiful music that moved her this time, it was also how Luka was so open about how he couldn't always find the right words.
Marinette certainly found that hard to believe with how eloquent Luka could be, but it made her feel a bit better. And when he finished his song and the lights came back on, Marinette thought she could at least walk up to him and tell him that his music was beautiful.
While probably giving him the Valentine's gift.
Marinette started to sweat with everyone coming over to talk to him. She began worrying that she didn't speak up at the right time and that plenty of people would give him Valentine's cards. Still, while Marinette was busy fighting a war in her head, she didn't realize she was the last one to greet Luka.
"Hey Marinette."
Marinette opened her eyes to see the guitarist smiling at her as he sat on stage.
"Oh…" Marinette blushed. "Hi Luka!" She quickly placed her hand on the back of her head and tried to find the right words quickly. No turning back now.
Luka's smile didn't waver though.
"I hope you enjoyed the music," he said.
"Oh!" Marinette cried as her face turned pink again. "I adored it!" She cried, almost loudly enough that the entire coffee shop heard her.
"It was so beautiful!" Marinette felt like she was about to fall apart by letting all her affections known.
Luka looked away with a light blush on his face as well. He was so grateful that the girl he liked adored his music.
"You really are the most talented musician I know Luka…And…And…"
Marinette felt her words get stuck again, so she took the red envelope and presented it to him as she tried to hide her blushing face.
Luka was certainly stunned that Marinette presented him with a Valentine's card, but he accepted it and opened the seal. Marinette thought this was all just a dream, and part of her wanted to run away. But Luka had the biggest smile when he saw the drawings, and Marinette's heart felt at ease when she realized she didn't screw up this time.
"Marinette, this is wonderful," Luka said sweetly.
Marinette still felt the need to process Luka's good reaction. She took a moment to play with the strands of her blue hair as she was blushing like mad.
"Oh…Really?" Marinette cried.
Luka nodded. "It's beautiful to see you express yourself Marinette."
Marinette placed her hand over her chest, feeling overwhelmed that Luka had just called her beautiful. He was the only one to make her feel beautiful. Somehow now, she felt comfortable enough to wear her heart on her sleeve for him.
"Well….." Marinette paused as she placed her hands over her blushing cheeks. Luka got up as if he was checking to see if she was alright. Still, Marinette quickly grounded herself and took a breath before continuing.
"It was the only way I could think of to express my feelings to you Luka." Marinette laughed a bit. "I almost thought this was too bold for me to do."
Luka shook his head and moved closer to her, but not too much to invade her space. Marinette was speechless once again with how tall he was and how handsome. She only was this close to him a few times, and most of those times were awkward situations with packed houses in the coffee shop.
"It's wonderful how you express the melody of your heart," Luka said. "I think you should do it more often."
Luka smiled down at her, and Marinette smiled back as she placed her hands over her beating heart. Her bluebell eyes sparkled like crystals. Marinette blinked as he grabbed his guitar again.
"Actually Marinette, I have been writing this song for you but didn't finish it in time for Valentine's Day…."
When Marinette thought she couldn't be even more over the moon, her mouth went agape. Luka, Paris's most talented up-and-coming musician, wrote a song for her. Her crush wrote a song for her!
"Would you like to listen to it?" Luka asked.
Marinette grinned so hard, feeling so eager to hear the melody of Luka's heart again.
"I would love to!"
Before Marinette could listen to Luka's special melody Alya, Adrien, and all her other friends came to her wanting Valentine's themed coffee. But Alya caught on quickly that Marinette found her courage to confess to Luka, and Adrien picked up that Luka had a special song in store for her. Marinette's friends rejoiced in her bravery, and Marinette felt she could make coffees for everyone. At the same time, Luka prepared himself for a special after performance.
Marinette made everyone's coffee exactly how they desired and took extra care not to spill any as her friends rattled the table in excitement. Luka smiled at her from a distance, but Marinette told him she had one last thing to take care of in the back. Luka nodded as she held her tray close and rushed to the back.
Luka started playing some soft tunes thinking about how the melody was still incomplete. But he played the unfinished song once more as Marinette's friends took notice and gave Luka some ample praise.
As he nearly reached the unfinished climax of his song, Marinette came to him with a tray in her hand. And Luka was so enamored by the beautiful baker girl smiling at him that his guitar playing became more passionate. Marinette stopped in her place so she wouldn't interrupt him, but Luka started to find the missing piece to the love song he had spent so long writing. And when the song concluded, there was silence before Marinette's friends cheered and clapped for the two of them.
Marinette smiled and offered him the latte, but Luka put his guitar down before getting up and wrapping his arm around her. Marinette blushed and looked down as Luka accepted the latte with hearts and musical notes for the design.
"Thank you, Marinette," he whispered into her ear.
"Oh…" Marinette cried. "I think I should be thanking you."
