Marinette was so excited as she headed to the diner with Luka for a Valentine's date. Even if it was just a diner date, Marinette looked adorable wearing a pink dress, and Luka wearing blue dress clothes. The friendly waiter sat them down at a round table. Marinette was about to make her wildest romantic dreams come true by ordering a milkshake for her and Luka to share.
But Marinette didn't mind the wait because she was perfectly content with Luka. He always looked at her like she was his entire world. Sometimes she questioned how it was possible for him to love her so deeply.
"You're amazing. You know that Luka?" Marinette said. "So kind and talented…."
Marinette suddenly blushed when Luka smiled warmly at her. He was so cool, unfazed by her verbal affection while resting his head on one hand.
Marinette looked away for a moment, trying to contain how much her face was warming up, more than any of the guys she ever showed interest in.
"I should've realized it earlier," Marinette mumbled. Pondering her past infatuations, she sighed to herself. "Young love is weird."
Marinette was about to live with her regrettable past deeds until Luka gently took her hand and reminded her of the present moment. When she looked into his eyes again, he seemed to have something on his mind. But those beautiful blue eyes of his were still shrouded in mystery.
"I hope this isn't too weird," Luka said before he presented a pink rose to her.
Marinette was speechless as her face glowed pink again.
"No," Marinette gaped. Then she quickly shook her head and giggled as she tried not to cry happy tears in front of him. "I love it!"
Marinette accepted the rose from Luka and took a moment to take in the sweet scent. It was very thoughtful of him. Much more thoughtful than thorny red roses from self-proclaimed nice guys with a romance obsession.
And with the beautiful delicate rose in her hand and the blue-haired angel in front of her, Marinette took Luka's hand, catching him off guard.
She pulled Luka closer, then Marinette stood up and met him halfway. Marinette smiled at him, and Luka blushed in return. Marinette moved closer and pursed her lips, and Luka smiled as he was about to accept a kiss from her. But both of them opened their eyes when they heard the footsteps of the waiter, who smiled at the young couple as he held a tray with a strawberry milkshake.
Marinette and Luka promptly sat back in their chairs, and the waiter chuckled.
"I hope you two have a wonderful day," said the waiter. "I am sorry if I interrupted both of you."
"N-No!" Marinette and Luka said in unison.
"It's alright!" Luka cried.
The waiter placed their strawberry milkshake on the table, complete with two straws.
"Thank you sir," Marinette said with a smile.
The waiter placed the tray against his chest and winked at them. "Don't worry about it. Enjoy you two!" And then, he left the table for Marinette and Luka to continue their date.
Marinette was blushing again, thinking about how she and Luka had an embarrassing romantic moment in public, like something from a movie. But then Luka took her hand and pulled her closer so they could drink the sweet strawberry milkshake together. Both of them were able to cool off by drinking the thick icy cold drink together.
Luka opened his eyes while he enjoyed the strawberry milkshake, and Marinette gave him the biggest, most beautiful grin he ever saw.
Moments like these were why he loved this girl so much.
And after Valentine's day, they dated for the rest of high school. At graduation, Luka wrote in Marinette's yearbook that he would always love his precious melody.
Marinette couldn't be happier, but she still questioned if eternal love was really a thing. She was surprised Luka wasn't sick of her by now.
But years later, when she and Luka married, Marinette was closer and closer to believing.
Luka brought his wife to their dimly lit dining room, where warm candles illuminated the round table Luka decorated with a red tablecloth. Marinette covered her mouth as she gasped in delight.
"Oh Luka…You always make Valentine's Day so romantic!"
Luka grinned.
"Anything for my Melody."
Luka quickly pulled one of the chairs for Marinette, and she giggled before sitting down. Luka sat in the chair beside her, and Marinette couldn't help but smooch her husband on the cheek before he poured some red wine for both of them.
They tapped their glasses together before Marinette took a sip. But when she drank her wine and blinked her eyes, Luka pulled out another surprise for her.
"Luka…"
He smiled as he presented her with a pink rose that shined in eternal beauty because the rose was dipped in platinum. There was also a note tied to the rose. Luka gave the rose to his wife, and Marinette folded the note open so she could read the contents.
When I said I would love you forever, I meant it.
Marinette giggled as she tried to fight back happy tears. She moved closer to him and placed her hand on his shoulder as she looked into his eyes.
"I love you so much Luka. Always and forever."
Luka cupped her face with his hand, and the married couple looked deeply into each other's eyes before kissing.
It was a beautiful quiet moment for the married couple. Luka and Marinette stayed that way until they heard the door open with the sound of their teenage son, daughter, and nine-year-old twins finally returning home.
Both of them giggled.
It was just another part of themselves they would love eternally.
