The sandy-haired man sat, smirking at his rival. He'd finally managed to get her back in character. "See, China girl, I was right all along. This is who you are," he said in his usual wooden tone. The 18 year old Yato stared back at him wordlessly, clearly at a loss about the situation. He tried to stand on his broken leg, but failed. "Tch, you might have to give me a piggy back again. It makes sense to receive one from a pig bitch like you."
"Gin-chan said... He said that I was polite," Kagura responded, quietly. She glanced around the street. It was empty. They had scared everyone away. "He said that I was gentle."
"Would a gentle girl break someone's leg?"
"No, but... But it is your fault, yes? You... You were making me angry."
"You enjoyed it though, didn't you? You like fighting me. That's why we fight every day."
"I do not remember."
The man's expression faltered. He looked frustrated with her response. "You have to remember."
"Why?"
Her question took him off guard. He stared across the street at her. "What?"
"Why do I have to remember you? You hate me, yes? You said it yourself and from what I have seen today, I don't like you, so we should just steer clear of each other, yes?"
"I- That's..." He frowned. It made sense and yet, he didn't want to not see her anymore. "As much as I would love to never see your ugly face again, we're bound to run into each other. We're both important characters in the manga."
"Just... do not talk to me anymore, yes?"
"China..."
The girl's eyes locked on his. "Sadist, I am being serious. We hate each other and I will be happier not knowing you, yes?"
"But you were starting to remember me!" He spoke quickly. "You remembered the Yagyu arc already... You can remember the rest! We fight each other, we argue, but we're rivals, it's what we do." He wanted to get up and knock some sense into her. He struggled to stand up once more, wincing in pain. He managed to make it up this time, using his sword as a crutch. "I'm sorry to tell you this, but your precious Gin-chan lied to you; you are neither polite nor gentle. You're a dumb, sadistic brat, who I've been fighting with for years."
"Why should I believe you over Gin-chan?" She yelled. This man was frustrating her to no end, but he had a point. She had enjoyed fighting him, it gave her a weird thrill. Trying to stay in character and be polite seemed unnatural to her, but she had much more trust Gin-chan and Shinpachi than in Okita Sougo, the sadistic brat who had been upsetting her all day. The man stared at her, blankly. She stepped towards him. "You stupid sadist, why?"
"Gut instinct?" He replied with a slight smirk, glancing at her stomach, the cut he had made there was already healed. "That should be enough for a glutton like you."
"It is hard to believe the idiot, who keeps insulting me, despite hardly being able to stand up. Do you want me to break the other leg, uh-huh?"
"See, you are so quick to get violent," he deadpanned back. "Besides, you've given me worse injuries than this one and I've still managed to hold my own in a fight." Not that she'd remember, of course.
"I can't imagine a weakling like you beating me in a fight," she retorted. To Sougo's disbelief, her lips had curved into a slight smile.
"Do you want me to show you?" He said back, red eyes glinting, returning the smile. The girl didn't reply with words, but rather with running and leaping at him. He managed to dodge her first blow, but received her following hit in his side. Managing to shift all of his weight onto his uninjured leg, he lifted his sword and fought back. They went at it for at least half an hour before Sougo fell to the ground, unable to take the pain of his leg any longer. He hadn't managed to land many hits on her since he had had to mostly remain on the defensive side, dodging her hits. He hadn't been able to move around, but he had still survived against the Yato for a while.
"Are you okay?" The redhead asked, hovering over him. He was surprised at her concern, but then, she hadn't remembered all of their violent history yet. He lifted his head, skimming her body to see the damages he'd made, she was bleeding a lot from cuts, but didn't seem to be concerned in the slightest. He hated losing to her, but with the injury she had given him, he didn't have much of a chance today. He'd just have to win next time. "Oi, stop checking me out and tell me you are okay, yes?"
"What? I wasn't-" He retorted, he'd been distracted by one of the deeper cuts he'd made, just below her breast. He realised what she was getting at. He glanced at her breasts, then at her face, which had reddened. When had her body gotten so... shapely? "Why would I check out an ugly pig like you?"
"So it seems like you are okay, you dumb brat, yes?" It was clear that she wasn't ignoring his comment because her foot was now pressing down on his bad leg. He bit his lip to refrain from moaning in pain. When she removed her foot, she turned to leave. "It is getting dark, I am going home before Gin-chan gets worried."
"Why concern yourself with the Yorozuya when they lied about who you were? Clearly they didn't like the girl you were before you lost your memory," he said without thinking. She turned back around, eyes furious. He had no idea why he'd said it, but the moment he saw her eyes, he knew it had been a mistake. He braced himself to receive a kick, but none came.
"I was right... I do not want to see you again," she seethed, not wanting to believe a word the sadist had said. "Stay away from me."
Somehow, her words hit him harder than any of her punches had.
"China," he said, staring at her as she walked away from him. "Wait."
She didn't.
