Adrien hummed as he strung beads to make a lucky charm bracelet for Marinette's birthday. "What are you up to?" Plagg floated over curiously with a big hunk of cheese to eat. "Making Marinette's birthday present. A charm bracelet. And hopefully, a lucky one." Adrien didn't know if luck had to do with anything, but after he and Marinette become friends, he felt so much happier and less alone. Sure, she could be awkward and shy, but she always stood up for others and gave good advice. "Besides, she gave me a lucky charm bracelet when I played video games at her house." Plagg rolled his eyes. "That's because you were so distracted by Marinette, you needed something to help you win." Having said this, Plagg started gnawing on his cheese.
"Very funny. I play you later and will see who's the lucky one." Adrien continued to work, a smile lighting his face. Friendship bracelets are nice too, Adrien thought. And here I thought I wouldn't make any friends at school. Plagg stopped eating and stared at Adrien as the humming grew louder. "Wait. Humming. Gift making. Funny little smile. You finally got a girlfriend!" "Plagg, you know I'm in love with Ladybug!"
Plagg rolled his eyes. "You may say that now, but I see the way you look at Marinette. Love is in the air!" he sang. "Plagg, this isn't a Disney movie! And so what? Its not like Ladybug returns my feelings anyway." But at least he and Bugaboo were friends, best friends and that was enough for now.
Adrien stared at the bracelet, holding it up to the light. Did it look okay? Should it have more beads? Less beads? Or was it just right?
"Arrgh, why was I picked as the Black Cat of bad luck and destruction," Adrien groaned, his voice muffled as he lay his head down on the table. What if Marinette didn't like it? He could certainly use Ladybug's lucky charm at the moment.
Adrien sat up as he felt a little paw on his arm. "Adrien?" "Yes, Plagg?" "Remember, your gift should come from the heart, and Marinette likes you even without fancy gifts." Adrien grinned. "Thanks, buddy. Let's hope she likes it."
Adrien glanced over at the clock. "Speaking of charms, its time to meet Ladybug for patrol." After transforming and hopping up to the windowsill, Cat looked back at the bracelet. He'd visit Marinette for a bit after patrol, to get his mind off the bracelet. He liked his work, and even if the bracelet was plain and simple he liked it just the way it was. Just like how he liked Marinette just the way she was.
