Cat Noir skipped along the sidewalk on a beautiful warm day. The sun was warm and bright and the birds were twittering in the trees. Wait, birds? Cat wiggled his tail and ran after them, waiting to play but the birds were to quick for him. He needed a rest after that, so he went to the meadow to take a snooze in the sun.
When Cat woke he could hear humming coming from somewhere close by. Cat wandered up the big hill, searching for the sound. It was his friend Marinette, humming as she drew in her sketchpad! Cat liked Marinette very much because she was kind. That and she lived at a bakery where all sorts of yummy sweets were, especially Cat's very favorite crossiants!
"There!" Marinette giggled, kicking her heels in the air as she lay on her stomach in the sweet smelling grass. "He's sure to love this!" Cat crept closer, for creeping was what cats do, espeically when they get curious. Why, it was a picture of him! Cat felt special and he blushed as he played with his tail. But, if Marinette had made something for him, he should give her a gift too, right? That was the fair thing to do after all. But what? It had to do special.
Cat wandered back down the hill, thinking. Suddenly, his nose twitched and tingled and without warning, Cat let out a sneeze!
Cat blew his nose with his hankie, the sneezed again! Poor Kitty, what was making him sneeze? A flash of yellow caught his eye, and Cat walked forward to investigate. Dandelions! That was what was making Cat sneeze!
"Roar!" Cat growled and wiggled his behind as he moved deeper into the flowers. It was fun to pretend to be a lion! A sudden strong breeze sprang up, and soon all the pretty yellow petals were gone! Now he had no present for Marinette! Cat plopped down his bottom and begin to wail, big tears sliding down his cheeks.
"Cat?" Cat sniffed and looked around, finding Marinette standing there. "Why are you crying? Are you hurt?" Cat shook his head. "No, I wanted to give you a dadelion for a present, but they all blew away!" "Not all of them! Look!" Cat wiped his tears away so he could see where she was pointing. Sure enough, one dadelion was left, petals and all. Cat plucked the flower and handed it to Marinette shyly. "For you, Princess." "Why, thank you, Kitty. Now I have something for you."
Cat looked at the picture she'd given him. This wasn't the picture he'd seen earlier. Did Marinette mean someone else when she said "him?" "I was going to give you this one," Marinette cleared his confusion by showing him her earlier drawing. "But then I saw you being a lion, and so I drew you with a mane and a fluffy tail." Cat roared and they both giggled. "Thank you, Marinette. I'll treasure it always." "Your welcome, Cat. Or should I say, Mr. Lion?" Cat patted his hair. It was rather fluffy with the wind being playful today.
As Cat walked home, he grinned to himself. All had worked out for the best. Putting it in a special folder, Cat would look at it on bad days to make him smile when the little lion gave his special princess a dandelion.
