Hey again guys! Enjoy!;p
CH17
The council was deep in session when the boy was brought up.
"Regarding what you saw Kenobo do." Master Adi Gallia mused out loud. "He has too much force potential to be left untrained especially if Xanatos is still recruiting apprentices. The taboo word caused Yoda's ears to droop.
A feral smile graced Dooku's lips. "You do realize he is in full right to deny our desired "intervention" he is of legal age and furthermore this same council cast him out. You cannot deny that some resentment may remain in him against us."
Yoda sighed. "Speak with him myself I will, need a master still he does."
Dooku chuckled again but the council members knew of Dooku's dedication body and soal to the order so they ignored the sarcasm laced in his voice. "Surely he is rather old for training in human standards, and the issue of attachment will always remain with him."
Mace Windu steepled his fingers to gather. "This matter is difficult but we will offer him a master if he will accept one of course." None of the council members had any objection to this and their session continued to what seemed to them to be more pressing matters.
Obi Wan woke up with a start finding himself in his masters alchemy lab. How long had he been asleep? He smelt like iron and sweat. Shuddering at the chilled air he used the secret passage to arrive in his own chambers, locked himself in and took a nice hot long bath. His private comm signal chimed his master requested his presence. He took long strides hurrying to the main hall in his masters chambers. Palpatine was sitting in his chair the top half of his hood concealing his face.
"My Lord you summoned me?" He kneeled wondering what it was his master required of him this time.
His master chuckled. "You seem to have made quite an impression with the Jedi council. They have extended an offer that you will not refuse."
"Of course my lord. What is it I will be agreeing to?"
"They have requested you resume your Jedi training." Palpatine broke out suddenly into peals of laughter. Obi Wan chuckled to himself as well. A Sith in the illustrious Jedi temple? And he was told he had a twisted sense of humor. The force was with them indeed. "My lord will they not sense my darkness?"
To this Palpatine hideous laughter grew louder. "No apprentice. As long as you do not use your anger rage or the dark side of the force in the temple itself your signature will not give you away. I will be cloaking you quite well."
"And my primary objective?" This was getting interesting. Finally he would get a chance at revenge.
"Gain their trust. I desire that you make your way into the Jedi Council." Both master and apprentice laughed at that together and the twisted force laughed with them. The gathering darkness finally fully settling on Coruscant.
When Obi Wan arrived at the temple he was ushered into a medium sized bare room which he recalled was used for Kata practice. Two cushions were arranged one across the other. He keeping up his charade instead of taking a meditative seat on the meditating pad leaned against a wall with his arms crossed. To other Jedi his pose and demeanor seemed out of place while a twi'llek dancer would readily take half of her normal charge to spend a night with such a roguish barve who looked like he was from a holo flick more than a former security guard in the Naboo palace.
Obi wan was entering a light sleep when a bright and curious yet desperate force signature rushed inside the room clicking the door closed. Obi wan cracked an eye open. It was the young boy from the opera Anakin was it? He had of course met him before but this was more intriguing. He had assumed the boy would be calmer here in the temple.
"Lieutenant Kenobi!" The boy gushed.
Obi Wan chuckled. "And whom are we hiding from?"
"Oh uh…" Anakin's face reddened slightly. "I uh, um… please don't give me away! I can't go back into that class! It's for babies! They make fun of me and…and…" The boy burst into sobs rubbing furiously at his eyes trying to futily stop their flow.
Obi wan smirked. "Don't worry it can be our little secret." He winked at the boy who was now snifling and wiping his tears away with his sleeves.
"You won't? Really? Thanks! You're okay you know that? How come all the Jedi don't get me? How come they all want me to be nice and proper and stuff I'm just fine the way I am! It's not fair! I wish you were a Jedi then you could be my master that would be wizard." The boy gushed and then leaned against the wall his arms hugging his knees as he sat down.
Obi Wan slid down sitting next to the boy. "You know if you make it to Jedi you can go save your mother."
"I know that!" Anakin whined. "But I want to save her now! And not just her! All the slaves! No one should have to listen to others!"
Obi Wan chuckled at that. "Really now what about rules? If there were no laws against stealing or killing the stronger would do it to the weak all the time. How is that fair? If no one ever listened to anyone else there would be chaos. "
"Well," the boy mused. "Maybe some rules could work but no one should own anyone else."
"True…" But Kenobi's next words were cut off with the door opening and someone grunting as they hobbled into the mostly bare room.
"Master Yoda!" The boy fearfully shot up from his seat but Obi Wan ignored the newcomer.
"Miss you your master does. Think worry she will not young one?"
"No master! I'm going!" The boy made a quick bow. "Good," grunted Yoda and then his gaze slid to Obi Wan whose eyes were now lidded.
Yoda chuckled. "Fool me you do not young one, asleep you are not."
"I might as well be. What do you want with me?"
Yoda sighed as he walked around the meditation cushion his stick striking the wooden floor. "Know you yourself do, otherwise be here you would not."
"I came here because you think that I want to be a Jedi."
"Not think, feel, young one. Saw I did that Jedi you would be one day."
"Really?" Obi Wan laughed if the victory came to easily Yoda might not buy his act. "If that is what you saw why didn't Qui Gon or any other master take me?"
Yoda sighed as he settled on a cushion. "Mysterious is the force, works in strange ways it does, returned to us you have, Jedi you can and will be. Come meditate with me."
Obi Wan grudgingly slumped down onto the cushion opposite Yoda who had already closed his eyes. Yoda cracked his eyes open and laughed again. "Stubborn one you are, remember how to meditate know you still do."
Obi Wan closed his eyes allowing the force to flow but not touch him. No one said this would be easy but he was determined to see this through. He had lived through worse waiting for revenge.
"Do not fear. Burn you it will not." Yoda chuckled. Obi Wan suppressed the urge to punch the troll. To even become a padawan let alone have a chance at the council seat he would need patients. Perhaps the only trait Darth Plagues stated the Jedi were not wrong about. He sighed letting the light enter him gasping. The light which had once felt like a friend now burned scorching him. Yelling he was a traitor! It knew oh it knew who he was! But then sinking deeper he realized that it was not the force but master Yoda who was approaching his mental shields through the force that was the fire. He calmed himself and smiled. Peeling off the first layers which every initiate was taught he showed glimpses of his previous life into the force. The parts he wanted. Master Yoda went farther but stopped when in the force Obi Wan willed the older Jedi to think that he had reached Obi Wans innermost psych the walls a tinted violet. Jedi would not tamper or break down past this wall. The presence retreated and he was left with the light which felt draining almost like it was eating at his power.
The old troll nodded and rose circling around him. "Powerful indeed you are if felt me in the force you have. Chosen for you a master was if willing you are. No easy path this is, need it you do else stray from the light you may."
Obi Wan ran a hand through his hair. "Who will be my master?"
