During the couple of days at the ski lodge, everyone had been taking it easy.
Carver didn't come. The cabin survivors were glad that they haven't been around.
But Clementine, Kenny, Walter and Matthew never mentioned meeting Bonnie that day.
In fact, they had completely forgotten about it.
Clementine was in her room with Sarah, playing a board game they found earlier this week.
"Hmm.." Sarah hummed, as she picked up a card and read it. "You must attend Jail time for one turn- Oh COME on! That's not fair!" Clementine proceeded to giggle as Sarah whined.
"It's okay Sarah, it's only for one round." Sarah playfully gave Clem a glare. "Yeah, but you can win during that round!" They both shared a laugh together.
"Girls!" A voice came from behind the door. "It's time to eat!" The voice belonged to Matthew, and they could hear footsteps walking away.
"You got lucky this time," Clementine joked and stood up, helping Sarah up. They both talked a small bit while they walked down the stairs and onto the 'dining' area.
Everybody was already seated, so the girls got seated as well. Walter thought of a good idea a few days ago, and that was to join the two tables together so they could all eat together. It was working just fine, and the arguments while they ate minimized. A bit.
"So, I was thinking we could stay here until the storm hits, then we should get out of here." Luke said, holding a spoonful of beans and peaches. Carlos, Alvin and Rebecca nodded.
"I agree with Luke. We're going to go through hell if we get out of here while the storm is in action," Rebecca replied. Kenny swallowed his food and looked at them.
"Oh yeah, sure, why not?" Kenny sarcastically said, and Nick raised his eyebrows. "Wait, really?" Nick asked.
"No! Don't y'all get it? The bloody cold stops the walkers, it's the only plan that makes sense," the rest of the cabin group members groaned.
"Kenny, Rebecca here ain't in the shape or condition to go roaming around in the cold," Luke started saying. "Look, how about this? After Rebecca has her baby, with a couple days of rest, we can all head out. That sound good?" Kenny seemed to be thinking about it. He took a glance at Rebecca and sighed. "Clem? Lee? What do you think of this?" He asked.
"I agree with Luke, Rebecca isn't in the shape, Kenny.." Clementine said, playing a bit with her food. Lee nodded, "Yeah, man. We don't want nothing bad happening to her or her baby." Kenny nodded and turned to the other people. "It's decided then."
The others smiled.
And Kenny kept his promise, well, not a promise but his compromise rather. They stayed in the lodge for a couple of days and everybody was bonding with each other.
Especially Clementine and Luke the night before the present day..
"Are you sure you want to do this?" Luke asked the woman under him. She hummed in response and played with a few strands of his hair.
"I don't know, Clem.. I don't want to hurt you." The man said, sounding uneasy. "It'll be fine, Luke. I want you to be.. my first? Yeah, my first."
The brown haired guy sighed and nodded, "Okay, muffin." Clementine giggled at the nickname he had given her yesterday.
'This muffin reminds me of you, Clem. It's really sweet, good lookin', and everybody loves it.' Clem couldn't help but laugh and find his flirting very sweet and entertaining.
"Just make sure to tell me if I'm hurting you, okay?" Luke asked, sounding a bit worried. "Mmhmm, come on, Lukey.."
Let's just say, they had a very entertaining night and they both kept the noise down. Somehow.
Since the whole group decided to stay until Rebecca delivered her baby, there was a schedule for everyone on certain days.
Today was the day for Clementine and Lee to hunt for whatever sort of meat they find.
Kenny and Luke would be in charge of clearing the area around the lodge, while Sarita and Sarah volunteered to do house cleaning job.
Well, mostly because Carlos insisted on keeping Sarah inside.
Nick and Matthew were in charge of keeping the food supplies in order for each day and for each meal.
Walter was busy cooking.
Rebecca was in bed, resting. She was feeling a bit dizzy today, so Alvin decided to also stay with her.
"Clementine, can I talk to you?" Lee asked, holding his gun while walking with Clementine. They were in the woods behind the lodge. She nodded, "Yeah, sure. What's up?"
Lee took a long pause. "I just want to talk about you and Luke. I know you guys are a thing now, ain't no one fooling me." The woman besides him looked away in embarrassment. "Uh, yeah, sorry about not telling you. I was planning on, soon. I'm glad you know now, though."
Lee smiled at her, but then frowned again. "I don't want him to hurt you. Boys suck-" "Oh, come on Lee, I'm not a child anymore-" "You are to me."
Clementine pouted a little bit, "Sorry, go on." The older man nodded and kept his guard up. "You're right, Clem. You're not a child anymore, so I'll just be straightforward with you. I know you and Luke, uh, did it." Clementine immediately stopped walking.
Lee stopped as well and looked at her. Her face was red in embarrassment, "H-How'd you find out?!" She stuttered.
Lee chuckled a bit and scratched the back of his neck. "I find my ways. But anyways, I'm guessing you used protection? I don't want that sex ed class I gave you some time ago to go to waste."
"Oh my God, Lee," Clementine said, hiding her face with her hands. "U-Um, n-no.. he didn't find any… so we just did it like that…"
At this moment, Clementine wanted the ground to eat her whole so the embarrassment would disappear.
Lee sighed, "I don't think that was smart. But it's alright. I don't want another baby on the way, Rebecca is enough. Also, you're way too young to be having kids."
The young woman was going to say something, but Lee placed a finger on his lips. There was a bunny ahead, so they both crouched down and aimed at it.
Lee then used a crossbow, and shot the bunny. The man smiled, "You were saying, Clem?" They both got up and walked towards the dead animal.
"I was going to say that I agree. I don't wanna end up like that lady we saw a couple days ago." Lee raised an eyebrow as he picked up the animal. "What lady?"
"Oh, I forgot, you weren't there. Well, the other day, Matt, Walter, Kenny and I were talking outside the lodge," She was saying, and cringed a bit by the animal. "And then we suddenly saw a lady. She looked a bit older than me, by a few years at most. She was looking for food, seemed like spying on us a bit. She told us that uh.. she had a couple of kids. Because of the world we live in.." She finished.
They started walking forward again. Lee furrowed his eyebrows. "Oh, wow. Was she nice? I bet Walter gave her a lot of shit. Did he?" Clementine giggled a bit and nodded, "He did."
Lee rolled his eyes playfully.
They walked for a few minutes in silence. They didn't mind, the silence was comfortable.
"Are you happy?" Lee suddenly asked. The amber eyed seemed taken back by the question. "Why do you ask?"
The man shrugged a bit, not looking at her. "Well, it's been awhile since you've been so comfortable around other people. Not to mention that Kenny is alive." Clementine smiled. "Yeah, I'm happy. Who knew that Kenny, of all people, is alive? Plus, I mean... Luke does make me really happy."
Lee smiled, and looked at her. "I'm glad, sweet pea. Anything happens, I'll beat his ass, alright?" They both laughed.
They kept on walking, shooting other small animals they came across.
As they were walking back to the lodge, Clementine grabbed Lee's arm. He looked confused, and stayed quiet. They both crouched down, and saw what seemed to be a woman.
She had dirty clothes, and short dark hair from their view. She was slightly far away from them.
"Who the hell.." Lee whispered. They then proceeded to see a man. Black and tall, almost like Lee.
"What the fuck.. we have to get out of here, Lee." Clementine whispered, holding onto him tight.
Another person came through. This person was white, holding a rifle behind the other two.
Lee and Clementine stayed crouched down, behind a couple of bushes. They were waiting for them to be out of sight.
About twenty minutes passed, and the coast was clear.
The two of them then ran towards the lodge with the dead meat.
They had spent a while running back to the lodge, and once they reached it, they slammed the doors open.
"What the fuck?" Nick then shouted. All of them gathered around Clementine and Lee, except Luke and Kenny, who were probably still outside.
"We just saw three people near the lodge! Around the forest! One of them was holding a rifle, and, and-" Clementine was saying before Lee gave her a hug. "They looked dangerous," Lee finished.
"Wait, what did she say?!" Rebecca exclaimed, next to the others. "Relax, Bec!" Alvin then yelled out.
"We HAVE to get out of here! They could be working with Carver. How near were they?" Carlos asked, holding Sarah close.
"Pretty close. We ran for a short period of time to get here, so not too far." Lee responded.
"Shit! Where's Luke and Kenny?!" Nick yelled out, looking panicked. Clementine widened her eyes.
"Yeah, where are they?!" Clementine asked, tightening her grip on Lee's arm.
"I-It's their turn to watch the perimeter!" Sarita then said, now looking worried.
"Well, they're gonna have to catch up. We're leaving, everyone, pack everything you can!" Carlos then said. Clementine and Nick widened their eyes.
As soon as Carlos stopped talking, everybody but Lee, Nick and Clem started packing.
"Lee! We can't lose Kenny again, and I won't allow it for Luke-" "Listen, Clementine, you HAVE to think of the others. Those two are smart and know how to find us, but we're in danger and we gotta act quick!" He planted a kiss on her forehead and headed off to pack.
The two young people gave each other a look before going their own way.
Everybody was busy packing, that nobody was watching the entrance.
Carver and the rest of his crew came in, all carrying rifles and guns.
Sarah was carrying a pillow full of cans of peaches and was walking towards the entrance, until she saw them.
She yelled and Carver grabbed the tall child and pointed the gun to her heard. Immediately after, Carlos, Sarita, Walter, Matthew and Lee entered the scene.
They all took a step back.
"Give her back, you sick shit!" Carlos yelled with his thick accent. At this moment, Clementine came in with Nick.
Carver let go of Sarah, and she crawled back to her father, her face stained with tears.
"Well, hello everybody. Long time no see, yall agree?" Carver then said. Everybody stayed quiet, not knowing what to say. The man just smirked to himself.
Carver smoothly walked up to Carlos, and he did the same.
"Where's Rebecca?" He asked. The Spanish man looked at him with disgust. He later on spit on his face.
Carver kept on smiling as he wiped where he was spat on.
Clementine slowly walked towards Lee, who was watching was what happening, much like the others.
Everybody took another step back once the bearded man punched the other.
Carver picked up the man and aimed the gun at him. "Tie em all up. Now." His guards then proceeded to do so.
"Anybody struggles or they hear any complaints, your little doctor is dead!" Carver threatened as he held the gun close to the other man's head.
Clementine let herself be tied without struggle, not paying attention to the guards.
"It's you.." she heard Walter then say. She looked up and widened her eyes. "Shut up!" It was Bonnie. The woman they met and helped before.
"Are you kidding?" Clementine heard herself say. "I said shut up!" Bonnie said, slapping Clementine across the face. She winced and Lee couldn't do anything about it.
"They giving you a hard time, Bonnie?" Carver asked, still holding Carlos and the gun.
Bonnie glared at the survivors, and shook her head. "No, I'm good."
It took a few more seconds for everybody to be tied and on the floor.
Carver takes a look around his surroundings in the lodge, and stops himself. He then smirks, walking over to Carlos. He picks him up harshly and Sarah gasps.
Carlos looks done, ready to take any hits thrown around the him. Carver punches him on the stomach and he groans in pain.
"Dad!" Sarah yells. "Listen, I'm only gonna ask you once. Where's Rebecca?" Carver threatened, glaring down at the Spanish man.
"Sarah, listen to me," Carlos then says. "It's going to be okay." Carver growled under his breath and pulled his hair, only to break two of his fingers.
The cry of pain and desperation filled the lodge.
"Rebecca! Our baby deserves to be raised in a place of safety. I know you're out there. And Alvin, and Luke." Shit, Clementine thought. That's his baby?!
The poor survivors were tied up in the order;
Nick, Clem, Lee, Sarita, Sarah, Walter and Matt.
"This is real simple, folks. You want this over with, just show your faces. Don't make this harder than it should be-" Carver was saying but was interrupted by Sarah's cries.
"Don't hurt my dad! Please!" She begged and cried.
What is taking them so long?! Clementine thought as she watched Carver proceed to break more of Carlos' fingers.
"Just stop! Don't hurt my dad, please!" Everybody felt helpless. Especially Lee.
A few minutes passed, and Carlos was growing tired of the abuse towards him. "SHOOT HIM! SOMEBODY JUST SHOOT HIM-" Carver kept smiling and took out his knife and pressed it against his throat.
"Bill, stop!" Rebecca's voice now filled the lodge. "Ah," Carver then said, with his vile smile. He pushed Carlos aside as Rebecca walked downstairs with Alvin.
They had a small talk, mainly Carver talking. Alvin got tied.
"You don't wanna do this. Please, let this people go." Walter then said with his pacifist voice.
"Just, shut up!" Bonnie said as she was passing by with her rifle.
A few more seconds were passing, Sarah was crying next to her injured father and Carver and one of his men were talking while the others took watch.
BANG.
The sound of a shot and glass breaking. One of the men was shot. Everybody looked shocked, mostly scared.
"Don't move!" Bonnie then yelled towards the captives. She then took cover like the other men and aimed towards where the shot came from. "I don't see him!"
"Watch them." Carver said, grabbing Matthew by his hoodie. Everybody widened their eyes.
"Matthew, wait-" Walter finished his sentenced by a guy pointed at him.
Taking a few steps forwards, Carver threw Matthew to the ground and shot him without mercy.
Sarah screamed. "That's for our man!"
"MATTHEW?" Walter yelled out and stood up, ready to attack the man who murdered his best friend.
Unfortunately, the vile man was quick enough and shot him in the chest.
"NO!" "Please, stop this!" "I'm going to puke!"
"Now, I didn't wanna do this. But you ain't leaving me much choice. So here's what's going to happen," Carver was yelling, taking cover. "I'm gonna march out one of your friends out here and I'm gonna put a bullet through the back of their head!" Sarah's screams were getting out of control.
"Or you can give up now, your choice!"Another shot missed the man. Carver shook his head and walked towards Alvin. "You motherfucker," the black man said.
Rebecca was yelling at Kenny to stop, as Carver seemed to be speaking to Alvin while they walked to his death.
Carver was about to shoot, but Clementine got up and ran towards the man.
"CLEMENTINE!" Lee then shouted. Carver was quick enough to stop her with a hit on her stomach. She immediately fell to the ground, coughing.
Bonnie aimed the gun towards Lee, so he didn't try anything.
Carver grunted and pushed Alvin to the side, now grabbing the 19 year old.
"Hello, Clementine. Long time no see. How they treating ya?" The mediocre man asked in a whisper. She whimpered in pain.
"Let her go, you son of a bitch!" Carver proceeded to point the gun to her head.
"I don't wanna kill this lady, but I can continue all night! Is that what you want?" Carver yelled towards the shooter.
There were a few seconds of silence, until the front doors opened and Kenny came in, with his hands up.
They immediately tied him up and Carver let Clementine go back to her original spot.
She leaned on Lee, who couldn't even hug her. She looked sick.
"Where's Luke?" Carver asked as he walked in front of the tied up people. Everybody was silent.
He snickered, "Finally cut and run, huh?" his voice sent chills down their spines. "Why am I not surprised?"
"I warned you. I warned you not to follow him, and look where he's led you." The bearded man said as he stood in front of Carlos and walked back.
"But you're safe now," he turned to face us. "We're going home, as a family." He said this as he walked to Rebecca and smiled.
Alvin looked devastated and the others looked tired.
"All right. Round 'em up. We're heading back to camp." The man gave his orders and walked out of the lodge, leaving his guards and three dead people on the ground.
The guards took one by one out of the lodge, Clementine being last.
Where are you, Luke? She thought as she was being walked out by the male guard.
The amber eyed suddenly felt her back area being squeezed. She widened her eyes and stopped walking.
"Did I say stop walking? No, so pick up the pace!" She swallowed as the guard said this, and she followed the others.
Please, be safe…
